I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone! I ama new user and i am coming up with this post as I couldn`t find any kind of solution for my problem.Recently I decided to do a reinstallation of my operating system, which also previously was Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). The installation went as usual, and after finishing it I went on to install all the latest drivers from the Lenovo site, for my product. When getting close to installing almost all the drivers i`ve needed, i stumbled upon a new version of the BIOS amnd the drivers and sfotware recommended for my laptop, by the producer. So i proceeded to install the upgrade, restarted the computer when it prompted me to do so, but after the so-called restart the laptop did not boot up as usual. At first it was telling me to not do anything as the BIOS is being flashed and then it was telling me something about some sort of image processing, things that i did not understand at the time (i have never encountered anything like that). After that my screen turned black. I have not done anything for a few couple of minutes as i thought it was supposed to be like that, but then i just force shut it down and unplugged the AC adapter. When trying to boot it all up again, the only thing i got was a black screen and nothing else. After doing a little bit of research it appears that, somehowm i`ve managed to corrupt the bios on my laptop or something, and nothing else would work at this point. I tried to remove the BIOS battery and the ram and then put them all back, trye... Read more

So the situation is like this, I have b590 20206 I was using partition editing software, so needed to disable some security settings to boot from USB, I switched as the guide from uefi to legacy and bang, the screen is no longer doing anything. I tried to download the official bios and flashing H9ET75WW by renaming it to BIOS.cap then using fn+r usb keeps blinking for a bit and it reboots but nothing comes up. Reading this forum yesterday, I managed to flash this one H9ET92WW, this one is the only one that makes the laptop light up again, I see the lenovo splash screen only with this one, but then it says realtime clock error, configuration changed restarting the system then back to black. Could you please advise what is it that I am missing? Hello everyone! I have recently ungraded the motherboard of my B590 to HM77 so that I could use it with an Iintel core i5. My question is, is the latest BIOS for Lenovo B590 for both versions of these laptops? I mean, does it support HM77 chip? The current BIOS of the board is very old (2013) and Windows won't switch to Nvida GPU despite it's presense in the device mangager. Thanks and I really appreacite your support!

I have a huge problem with a B590 Notebook: I replaced the harddisk for a test installation of windows 10. This was already quite a pain in the youknowwhat, since it didn't want to boot from USB-stick. I was able to solve that by changing a boot-option in the BIOS to 'legacy' and changing the boot-order and could continue with the windows 10-installation. Then I wanted to reinstall the old harddrive and run the original windows 8 again. Unfortunately the computer doesn't seem to recognize the original harddrive a boot-device anymore. Instead it seems to search for a boot-device on the network (in an endless loop). The problem now is, that I can't access the BIOS anymore. Pressing F1 as stated on the boot screen has no effect (just like pressing F2, F10, F12, ESC, Enter, AnyKey). My next idea was entering the BIOS from the still running windows 10 installation (By pressing Shift+Restartbutton.) Strangely there is no 'UEFI Firmware settings'-option So how can I enter the BIOS to check the boot-settings/order on this notebook? Thanks!

Why on earth is this? I googled the error message but this only seems to be a problem with people trying to upgrade the BIOS from win 10... but I'm definitely on 8.1, it even says Windows 8.1 Build 9600 in the corner. The only modification I made is that I upgraded the ram to 8 GB (from 4 GB), but the BIOS update fails even if I take the extra stick out.

Hi I have changed boot order and also I have disabled UEFI in order to install linux on other partition(not done yet). as I always do on other laptops. But now after changing to legacy mode I cannot access BIOS anymore. I got pxe-e61 error. OK so I insert USB linux drive and it is working properly with live boot.  But I realy need to boot Windows, but it is not possible becouse of UEFI being turnd off. Also It is not possible to access bios, because BIOS was accessed from recovery windows menu, whitch doesnt load anymore. Also when it is booting up (lenovo logo) I press esc (no other keys are workind) which open menu where I "can" boot to BIOS. So I press F1 menu dissapears but I end up with same PXE-E61 error. Any advice how to enter BIOS and change it back to UEFI mode ? thanks

I hope you meant to say Lenovo B590, because I cannot find any reference to a Lenovo G590 Not sure why, but others have reported that to regain access to the BIOS, you have to do the following. remove the battery and power, then remove the back panel.remove the BIOS battery.    See page 44, 45 and 52 of the Hardware Maintenance Manualleave it for a couple of minutes (I would say 5 minutes or more).replace the BIOS battery and the cover, then the battery and then the powerBoot up and use F1 / F2 to go into the bios Hardware Maintenance Manual Lenovo B590https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/b590_hmm_en.pdf I hope it works for you too. Good Luck,

I am look for a last ditch help on fixing the BIOS/POST problem on a perfectly fine E6230
I was attempting to make a powered eSATA cable work when I enabled the SATA 4 and SATA 5 button in the BIOS.
After reboot... nothing..
I have been told it is a motherboard failure but this is too co-incidental!
I have tried a reset of the BIOS by disconnecting all power even the BIOS Coin battery .... nothing - no POST - although the LED shows that laptop is detecting lack of memory and HDD
A search shows that for INSPIRON laptops the BIOS can be unpacked and re-FLASHED to reset.
Does anyone know how to achieve this with the DELL Latitude Laptop or another way to reset the BIOS setting please?

Okay so I recently had a pretty bad malware/rootkit issue with my computer. When I would browse through chrome, clicking on links would pop open new windows or redirect me to new pages. And even the pages I wanted to be on would constantly refresh, streaming videos wouldn't play. But more importantly many files on my computer were inaccessible or corrupted. Shortcuts would not open from my desktop or files from their home location on my computer.

So I tried to remedy this with the follwing in this order: 1. Rkill 2. Rogue Killer 3. Adwcleaner 4. Malwarebytes

This was mostly successful. I can browse my internet safely and smoothly. My computer seems to be operating much faster now than it did before. However, many of the files on my computer I am still unable to open up. Cleaning up my computer fixed some of the files, but most are still inaccessible. Desktop icons are a blank white square and nothing happening when I double click on them. My taskbar ( I have windows 10 ) are all white square boxes. I even installed sim city 4 on my computer earlier today except that it doesn't start up when I insert the game disk, nor is there a file to run the game in its folder under my C drive.
I suspect there maybe still some malware hidden deep in my computer. I am really hoping this isn't a hardware issue. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

I attached a picture of my desktop for a better idea of what I'm dealing with.

Hi, you need to boot from your Vista DVD and access the RE (repair your computer) option. From here select command prompt, a dos type box will open with a X:\sources> prompt follow these instructions:-

? Boot from Vista DVD
? Get in to WINRE
? Open command prompt
? Enter the following commands to fix the issue.
We need to determine what OS the RE assigned a drive letter to (not always C) so at the x sources prompt type:- bcdedit |find ?osdevice? press enter (use the returned OS drive letter in the following cmds (assume C:).Press enter after each command.

I have a Gateway 820GM pc and was having issues with IRQ conflicts. I was told that this is something that was fixed in the latest bios so I downloaded and ran them windows program that would automate the install of these bios.

Long story short the computer rebooted to install the bios and then hung on a black screen. After 30 minutes it was clear that something was wrong. I have verified that these are the correct bios for my motherboard and everything.

I was able to get the computer to boot to windows by holding down the insert key when the system is turning on however when I try to access the bios screen its all corrupt in there with a blue screen and unreadable text.

While i Know the easy answer is to trash the motherboard before I go spend $100 on a replacement I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as the computer does now boot to windows but I am concerned that there are still some problems that should be addressed with the Bios. Thanks.

Hi, So I've owned this laptop for about 2 years.  About 1 month ago, the laptop had a corrupted BIOS that I was unable to restore, and the thread describing that in detail can be found here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Laptop-BIOS-Corrupted-probably/m-p/5735383#M95... Since then, I have ordered a new motherboard and installed it in the computer. It started up and worked perfectly, but wouldn't recognize the battery and only operated when plugged in. So, I thought that I would update the BIOS to see if that would fix the battery issue. I downloaded the HP executable for the BIOS and ran it. Windows did some stuff (I forget the exact details), and then the computer rebooted. It displayed a simple blue box that said it was flashing the BIOS. I played a game on my other computer for ~30 minutes then came back to the laptop.  This time, there was a completely blank screen. I attempted to move the mouse, and do anything reasonably expected to wake the computer from sleep, because the power LED was still on.  I then pushed the power button until it shut off, and then tried to power it on. It resulted in the exact same symptoms as the thread I linked above. I have tried unplugging the computer (which removes all power because the battery won't work), using both key combinations to try to restore the BIOS from the original hard drive, and using both key combinations to try to restore the BIOS from a USB drive with a slightly olde... While my notebook G61-327 was updating MS windows 10 anniversary addition during the reboot my system went to "black screen" condition.  The system turns on and the fans are running but nothing is shown on the screen and no POST is performed. The blink codes show a corrupted bios.  I've done the obvious of taking out the CMOS battery and removing the primary battery and unplugging the machine from the wall outlet.  Pressing and holding the power button for minutes on end and then re-installing everything and turn on the machine but still get black screen.  I've attached an external monitor to it to see if it was the LCD but nothing happened.  I've tried holding the windows button and the B button to get to bios recovery but nothing.  I've downloaded the bios installation utility from HP for my model computer but it works only in a windows environment to update the bios and it doesn't give the option of creating a bootable USB drive to reinstall the bios firmware. What else is available before I have to get a new machine.  I really like this laptop and would like to keep it.

Right, I have a huge technical problem, and desperately need some help. I sincerely hope that you guys are able to help me in some way.

Basically, I have an Acer T180-UB7Z here, and it was working fine, par the bad ram. All was fine, until I tried to update the BIOS. I downloaded the most recent bios update for that specific model, from Acer's website, so I know it wasn't a bad copy. I ran the updating tool within Windows, and tried to update. The update failed with an error saying something along the lines of 'could not erase - the hardware may be write protected'.

Thinking the bios was write protected, I assumed that the updater never changed it in some way, and so didn't think to revert to the backup I made. However, when I restarted the machine, it now fails to boot. The BIOS claims to be a 2007 version, which I downloaded, even though it supposedly never installed (it used to say it was 2006). It hangs at "Verifying DMI pool data". I googled the situation, and discovered that it is a fault with the motherboard, that the onboard bios flasher is faulty, and that everyone who has ever tried to update it has received the same problem, and there is virtually nothing that can be done within the machine to repair it.

The machine can not boot from CD, hard drive, removable devices etc, since Verifying pool data happens before this, and cannot be skipped. The bios settings can be accessed and changed, but I've read that no combination o... Read more

I contacted Microsoft again, as I felt this was their fault and they would know the solution. They told me I needed to reinstall Windows and everything would be fine. I found out that the bios is corrupted because the caps lock and num lock lights are blinking twice, so i follow the instruction from this page : http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-tx2500-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/3717590/mode... in order to restore the bios with a flashdrive, i downloaded the bios sp45056 listed for my notebook, but in the step 10. "The HP System BIOS Update Utility opens. Click Next." well it doesn't open that, it opens insydeflash utility and it doesn't have the option to create a flashdrive could you please help me with this issue Thanks & Regards

I was shutting down my laptop to go to bed and it started installing updates, it was stuck on update 18 of 25 for over an hour and I really needed to sleep so I held the off button.
Now when I turn my laptop on it is just a black screen with the caps-lock key flashing (2 flashes) which research tells me means a BIOS problem...

the problem is that the solution method;

Turn off the computer.
Plug the notebook into power using the power adapter.
While the computer is still off:
Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold down the Power button on the notebook for one second.
Release the Power button and the keys.

Does nothing.
The laptop continues to turn on, make noise and have a black screen with the flashing caps-lock key...

What should I do?

When I try to turn on the computer, I get two long beeps and two short beeps. This is accompanied by two red blinks and two white blinks. This happens over and over again, but the boot doesn't go any further. The screen doesn't show anything at all, and the keyboard and mouse don't seem to get any power. However, the disk drive's led is on.  According to this https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07107 the BIOS has become corrupted and there is no recovery.  I have tried downloading a BIOS and creating a USB recovery drive. I downloaded the newest bios, and then ran the executable in another computer. When prompted, I gave the installer the location of the USB drive. I then insert it in the bad computer and when I turn it on, I get exactly the same. It doesn't seem to be reading the USB at all.  Any help will be appreciated

Hi,
I'm using a HP Mini laptop with Windows 7. I updated BIOS using the HP Support Assistant. Then, I had to restart my laptop. While doing this, a message came saying that the updated BIOS is being installed but after that my laptop shut down by itself. It did NOT restart. When I turned the laptop on, a message came about a "BIOS checksum error" and then my laptop showed the 'welcome' screen like normal. When I researched about it, people said that when that error happens, it means my BIOS is corrupted.

But, I was able to use my laptop like normal and when I checked my system information, it showed the updated BIOS like this = System BIOS - F.14. AND, when I restarted my laptop, there was no error message or anything. It just started up like normal.

So, my question is - Is my BIOS corrupted?
Please answer, I'm REALLY worried. Thanks for your time.

Hello, When updating the BIOS, I accidentaly took off the AC and the computer turned off (it does not have a battery), which lead to a corrupted BIOS and consequently a black screen after starting the computer. I went to see the HP Restoring BIOS steps, but a problem came up. After downloading the BIOS for the target computer and executing the .exe file, the HP System BIOS Update Utility does not pop up and provides an error saying: Init CreateDriver Handle Fail This error belongs to InsydeFlash. By having this, I cannot create a recovery USB flash (the computer does not have the HP_TOOLS partition). I hope to get some help. Best Regards, Diogo

The bios settings can be accessed and changed, but I've read that no combination of settings will work in ... Read more

A:Corrupted BIOS?

Check the manufacturer's website. Some BIOSes have a failsafe feature that allows you to return the BIOS to factory code in the event of a failed update. What it's called will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but look for words like "failsafe" "bootblock" and such.

I do hope your board / BIOS supports that. Otherwise it's pretty much a paperweight.

I have a z68 extreme4 gen 3 motherboard and I had version 1.00 of the bios, I attempted to update to 1.20 and upon restarting, I cannot start windows. I've tried using my second computer to get another copy of the bios and flash it to my computer, it accepts it but still cannot start. I tried using the startup repair function but that did not work either. I can access the uefi and play around with boot order but I cannot start my computer. I do have a windows 7 disc that came with my computer but I don't want to lose my data unless it's a last resort. I'm running windows 7 with an i7 5700k processor. any help guys?

I was searching the internet and found a program that i thought was kind of cool. It was ment to change the picture that award bios shows in the top right hand corner of the screen when the computer is booting. So i downloaded the program and changed my picture to the intel celeron logo.
When it had finished setting up the new picture it told me to restart so i did. But when i restarted the computer all i got was a long beep and two short beeps. A couple of seconds after that i got two low pitched beeps and that is all that happens. Nothing appears on the screen. Is my bios broken and is it possible to fix without replacing the bios chip? I have tried clearing the bios twice but that does not work.

Does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks.

I realized that there are a few BIOS updates, after my version (1.26) that seem to offer performance inmprovements. I probably need those, since my brother has a laptop with identical specs to mine, but his runs faster in games. I made sure I have proper drivers and all that stuff, but his is still faster. I also know that if a BIOS update fails, I'll have an expensive brick. I'd rather not have that, so before doing the update, I want to be sure I can recover my computer.
