I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, my I'm Abel my Lenovo is G50-80, my OS is Ubuntu 17.10 I'm really angry on Lenovo. No matter what I do, after changing all the settings and saving and quiting, the settings go back to the way they came. No matter what I do, BIOS settings only change at the moment, when I exit BIOS and come back these settings go back to the factory settings. I don't believe it's motherboards's battery since the time and date are current. Please, this is urgent, I can't run Virtual Machines because of this.

Hi everyone, as the title states, my bios refuses to save settings except date and time, also in the boot menu it shows me these 3 entries:totally ignoring if there's another bootable device plugged in (so it doesn't show up)I tried to do various things, changed CMOS battery, reset bios to default settings, tried bios back-flash unfortunately, that option is set to off in bios, i even tried to set some values before booting, to see if these change just for that session, none of this worked. Also I'm not alone, i noticed another guy here, with the same problem. Is there anything I can do to solve that? my warranty has expired.

When I switch on my Lenovo Z580, it gets stuck on the Boot Menu/App Menu and after going back and forth, it eventually starts properly, is there a way to have my PC start properly without the boot menu/app menu popping up in the first place. Any help on fixing this will be much appreciated as I fear it is only a matter of time before it stays stuck on the boot menu/app menu pop up screen.

When opening up Microsoft Outlook 2007, it prompts me to choose Profile.

When I open up "options" tab, and put check mark in box, it doesn't remember it for the next time.

I had to create another account before but have now deleted that account so I just have 1 account listed but it still prompts me to select Profile Name even thought there's only 1 there.

Weird part is my new comp. is not enabling me to (let's say) open attachments automatically. I cannot have access to the dialog box that says "always ask before opening this type of file".

Don't know if this is related to my Outlook problem or not.

Thx for any suggestions.

A:Doesn't remember default settings

You mentioned that this is a new computer. Did Windows 7 come preinstalled? If not, did you do a clean install or an upgrade?

Hello everyone,I had Ubuntu 17.10 and Windows 10 dual boot and were working normally, I formatted the laptop's hard disk outside the laptop and deleted all partitions and returned it back into the laptop...now when I open the laptop it shows me "Ubuntu boot failed" message and when I continue it shows me "Windows boot manager boot failed" message and after I continue it ends up at this screenI tried to burn an iso of windows or linux on a usb or dvd and entered the boot menu it shows the boot from usb option but when I choose it I get boot failed message and the only working option is the "SATA HDD" and I think it works in legacy mode because if I make the bootable usb using rufus and choose gpt for uefi scheme it won't boot I tried to change that from the bios menu but any change in the settings of the bios menu returns back after restarting the only change that stays is the clock and dateAny suggestions to how boot normally in UEFI without getting boot failed ?

When I enter choices in checkboxes in Windows XP SP1, Windows doesn't remember my choices. This problem ranges from checking a currency translation box in MS Money, to setting up Norton's Recyle Bin, to some of my Microsoft Trackball Explorer configuration. When I click Apply/OK, all seems okay, but when I re-open the menu, things have reverted to their original setting. I'm wondering whether this has something to do with administrative permissions. I'm the only user of my machine, but there are multiple "documents & settings," using different forms of my name, all users, etc. I would like to remove some of them, but am afraid I'll not be able to re-boot.

My devout thanks to anyone who can help.

Hey all. Little annoying problem that one of my users is having that I haven't been able to pin down on other sites.

We recently purchased some new machines, which are loaded with XP Pro and to which we loaded our archaic Word 97 SR-2. Word 97 simply will not remember the setting you set for which printer tray labels should be printed to. It should be set to "manual feed" which it DID remember under the old Win 98 machine, but every time you restart Word it resets that value back to Automatic Selection which is a pain in the butt to change every time. I've done a clean reinstall on the machine and I still get the same problem...microsoft has some info on a related tray selection problem but says that it should have been fixed with SR-2, but obviously its not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Word 97 doesn't remember label settings

You didn't mention which printer driver you use. Some are sophisticated enough that you can also set your tray options with the printer settings. It may be a long shot, but take a look...

Good luck

I own a Lenovo G700, and I have heard that Shift + F2 will get you into the BIOS. It might work if all else fails. You can also call Lenovo support or search around a bit more. But in my case I have to use the hardware OneKey Recovery button to access it.

Hi all and thanks for your time,I'm having a problem with my install of Windows 8. Whenever I alter any system settings Windows does not remember them after the machine is restarted. Some examples: - Any settings specified in MsConfig such as Services to run or ignore at startup.- Any Services in Services.msc that I set to Auto/Manual/Disabled.- DNS Configurations in the applet accessed by right-clicking on my WiFi/Ethernet connection in Control Panel > Network and Sharing > Adapter Settings. That's to name only a few.I have been repeatedly running SFC / Scannow. It claims to detect corruption and to have fixed the problem, but after a restart and running SFC again it gives the exact same message no matter how many times it's run.Could anyone here give some insight as to the possible route cause of these problems, or any methods to detect what aspect of Windows is faulty?Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

A:Windows doesn't remember system settings after restart.

Something is most likely wrong with the system memory. I would recommend that you run the BIOS and do the memory test until it is done so that you can see what it finds. I have found that that helps a long time ago. I would try that if that does not work, then HOLD the SHIFT KEY and click on the SHUT DOWN on the CTRL+ALT+DELETE screen. A blue screen should show up after a minute or 2 and give you options. CLICK on ADVANCED and CLICK SYSTEM RESTORE

Howdy guys,
When I open a save-as dialogue windows (from any type of file - txt document, image, etc.), the file view always defaults to List, sorted by name. I don't like it so I right-click in the file manager window and choose my preference (usually Details, sorted by Type). Problem is, it doesn't stick - the next time I open a save-as dialogue, files are back in List, sorted by Name view. I did use the tools>folder options>view>apply to all folders but obviously it doesn't work for the file manager windows. (Actually, same goes for any file manager dialogue window no matter whether the action is Save As, Browse for upload, etc). Interesting thing is, at some point settings DOES stick and are remembered, but I've never managed to understand what's the trick and thus I have to deal with this on every fresh installation of Windows XP Pro (which is what I use). Any ideas? Registry entry concerning these settings are also a solution, if anyone knows where are these settings stored.

PS: It seems it's not only me having this issue:

this guy has the exactly same problem, and I've tried all of the suggestions there but nothing works.

Then hold down the CTRL key and exit by clicking the X in the upper-right corner.

Hello,
I am having problems with direct booting into Windows 8 installed into a VHDX file.
This is a four-partition UEFI boot on a GPT drive. EFI files are residing on a second partition of disk 0 (the ESP partition) in the EFI folder. The boot virtual disk is residing on the fourth partition of that disk 0.
When I turn on the PC, it shows black screen after the BIOS POST screen. No Windows 8 boot menu, no other information is displayed. However, if I press Shift+F12 (or F12) to start Dell BIOS Boot Menu and choose Windows Boot Manager from the UEFI part of
the boot menu, Windows 8 starts to boot without difficulties.
How do I make Windows to boot automatically without having to select Windows Boot Manager in DELL BIOS boot menu?
I believe I messed up with boot sector somehow... What needs to be fixed provided that Windows 8 will boot into VHDX file?
Thank you.

I am pretty sure that it is the dock because after connecting the Cintiq tablet direcly to the laptop (fia an HDMI adapter) I have no issues with resolution reset. Something is happening in the dock so I wondered if anyone know if the dock is supposed to work perfectly with the Wacom tablet. I talked to a lady on the phone and she said that the dock is not compatible with the Cintiq but I have a hard time believing that since the ThinkPad is used by graphics people. It is the first time for me and Lenovo. I have always had Dell workstations.  Also, I could not find a technical support email address. Could you provide one if you have used it in the past? Thank you!

Hi N_A,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Lenovo Community,

I?d like to guide you in a way to try to set the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) inside the BIOS to be the first priority booting order so we will try to return the BIOS to factory default settings:

Step1: Please turn off the machine and then at the left side you can see the NOVO button which is the button with the curve arrow

Step2: Press on the NOVO button and then you will get option press on BIOS Setup

Step3: Please press on FN+F9 together and then press Enter on Yes option and then FN+F10 to save and exit and then press Enter

Hope the information helps. Let us know.

If you have tried FN+F2 when boot?
Or holding down Shift and clicking restart?
If those steps did not work either,  You might need to contact Lenovo Technical Support and have the system shipped to Repair Facility for BIOS Reflash.

Found this article but it is for the same model that has same issue like yours.

Computer won't boot after bios upgrade.Quick history- computer was working but was dropped, damaging hdd- verified hdd damage by removing it and connecting it to another computer- verified computer hardware still good by booting and using it from ubuntu live cd- purchased SSD- changed Bios HDD support to Legacy mode so I could install w7- installed w7 64 bit professional- install went great, computer booted in windows, no lan or wifi yet : missing drivers- downloaded drivers and bios update from HP site for my exact machine to USB stick using different machine- installed audio driver- installed bios update, did not tamper with machine at all during BIOS update followed instructions exactly- after bios update  s/w said bios flash was 100% complete computer just hung for 15 min's- repowered machine: only get black screen- holding down F10 while powering up gets white "F10...BIOS Setup Options" text in lower left corner of screen, nothing else happens,I tried holding the windows and B key before powering then for a minute after powering several times, nothing happened. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833I repeated that procedure half a dozen times with and without a USB with the BIOS update software on it in a USB slot, no difference.  Does my model support this key combination to load deffault BIOS settings? Do I have any other options to unbrick my machine? Any advice is appreciated.Mike

I have XP (x86) installed on one partition.

Last night I installed Windows 7 (x64) on a separate partition.

Anytime I had tried this in the past, using Vista, it always detected the Windows XP partition, and gave me a boot menu with "Earlier Version of Windows" option to boot to.

This is not so with Windows 7.

How can I get the boot menu to show both options, to boot to XP or to Win7?

Thank you

I googled many posts and suggestions but none of them solved my problem

Hello again, after my battery problem was fixed, i got into another problem. My CPU is constantly throttling to 24% of it's capacity. It's an Intel i3 5005u 2.0ghz processor, and it never goes to 2.0gz, but stays at .48ghz all the time. The temp. seems to be always near 40-44 degrees and never goes up.I just changed my thermal paste, and nothing seems to be fixing it. PS: Power is on High Performance and the laptop is always plugged in.UPDATE: I forgot to mention it's Windows 10 (it's a full edition, original DVD copied to USB with original license purchased last year)

Hi There,

I just built a desktop with a sabertooth x79 motherboard, and am running Windows 8.1 pro 64-bit. When I click the UEFI BIOS Firmware live tile via the change PC settings>update and recovery>recovery>etc. my computer reboots normally to Windows and will not open BIOS. I have tried accessing it using the delete and f2 keys, but this does nothing either.

Any ideas? I am up to date in terms of my BIOS, and am definitely running UEFI and not legacy.

Thank you so much.
