Hyper 212x copper pipes

Q: Hyper 212x copper pipes

Hello, I just bought a hyper 212x a little bit ago and i smell something's that smells like its coming from the heat sink. I checked the the copper pipes sticking out of the heat sink and there was one that looked like it shouldn't be like it and was very small.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi I was wondering if I should buy the hyper 212x or the turbo edition CPU fan. I was wondering is there a difference and if so how much of a difference is there in overall performance and how do each one of them cool down the system with a full load.

How effective are heat pipes, could they be used to cool a P4. If the copper pipes were brought outside the case and placed in a sutible cooling medium e.g an ice bath and the section of the pipe that was in the case was insulated to keep the case temp down, would this make a suitable silent cooling system.

A:Heat Pipes

Heat pipes are now used in heat sinks very effectively these days. I was a little sceptical to the efficacy of heat pipes till I realised that most laptops use this tech to keep the CPU cool, and comparison tests have shown that its much more efficient thatn without it.

How it works:
Basically, it just provides a heat conducting rod with low thermal resistance. Therefore, its efficacy is reduced the longer it is. Its like stretching a metal rod over a fire, a short one you'd burn your hand pretty fast, a long one you might not feel anything at all for a long time.

Also, I doubt you'd want to insulate the section of the pipe in the case, you'd more probably insulate the whole thing. At least you'd insulate the bit outside the case, so that the cold temps from your ice bath will reach the PC. But you want it to reach the CPU, so you'd insulate the whole bit. And you'd need a really thick heatpipe....

I won't suggest you do that.

A better solution? Water cooling, and run your radiator through that ice bath of yours

Recently I was getting artifacts in games and noticed that the card was running hot so I got an Artic Cooler on it which is fine (much cooler now).

However in games I get the checkboard pattern over the game. The framerate is perfectly fine. Setting games to use 16 bit color / z-buffer reduces the problem slightly. I installed ATITool to see if underclocking would help then I noticed in the window "Active Pipelines: 8". Its a 9800SE, it should have four pipelines and every time I have used ATITool before it has reported four.

I have never done the soft or hard mod to this card.

I've tried a complete format and reinstall with various old and new drivers and the problem I still there. As I said the framerate etc. is fine. From what I have read about the softmod, the checkboard effect is often because the card can't handle the mod and do eight pipelines, so (hopefully) if I can set it back to four it will work fine.

Any idea why it would set itself to eight even though I have never modded it?
Is there any way to set it back to four? Maybe a bios flash that restricts it to four?

Thanks for reading.

Hello, I have installed hyper-v on a lenovo thinkpad t470 (and tested this problem on 3 other t470 thinkpads). The thinkpad has: a) an Intel RJ45 adapter b) a Sierra wireless adapter EM7455 c) an Intel wireless 8265 adapter Hyper-v does work correctly as long as there is an RJ45 Ethernet cable connection plugged in (and connectivity). When you remove the RJ45 connectivity it instantly disables the wireless adapter (intel 8265), whatever you try the wireless adapter remains unusable. As a test, I also upgraded the intel 8265 adapter to an intel 9260 adapter ... but the problem remains. I have to say that they both use the same intel driver. If you try to enable the device in the computer management console, it is instantly disables it again after a few seconds. This seems to be specifically related to the lenovo t470 laptop as we don't have that kind of problems on other laptops. I also tried to enable/disable some BIOS options etc ... Has anyone experienced similar issues or has any ideas how to solve the problem? I would really appreciate some help as I have absolutely no ideas ... what else to try. Here was my original post in the Microsoft forums ... but that didn't help either: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/azure/en-US/939f4a3b-9d3e-4f10-8384-189d952a4b5e/hyperv-... Hi,
Is it possible to install Windows server 2012 Hyper-v on windows 8 Hyper-v? or should I use Wmware Workstation.

Thanks

A:Virtualize for test Win2012 Hyper-v server on Windows 8 Hyper-v?

You can't run hyper-v (any version) inside a VM so neither would work,
and even if you could it would be so painfully slow as to be unusable.

Hello Everyone,
Thank you for checking the query, this is with regards to a setup for ATA 1.8, where most of the DCs are Virtual and around 20 Hyper-V hosts each having 1-2 DCs and other VMs for other functions, under normal conditions either you could go with approach
1 or 2 as below
1. Install  ATA lightweight Gateway on each DC - No approved.
2. Install ATA Gateway on Each Hyper-V host to receive Mirrored traffic from DCs on that Hyper-V host -
No feasible
But we need to check the possibility of approach 3, based on the article below

3. DCs on Different Hyper-V hosts to mirror traffic to ATA Gateway(s) on Different Hyper-v Host(s)

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/advanced-threat-analytics/configure-port-mirroring#supported-port-mirroring-options

ATA Gateway
Domain Controller
                           Considerations

Virtual
               Virtual on different hosts

Make sure your virtual switch supports this scenario.

So the bottom line is Does Hyper-V allow or can it be configure to sent the Mirrored Traffic from a VM to a VM on another Host, the configuration could involve power shell.
As per the below article it can capture traffic from Physical machine if port mirroring is configured to the Hyper-V host.

Hi, There seems to be 2 types of fan modules installed on the T460s (besides the one that is for the model with dGPU). One of them is with one heatpipe, the other one is with two heatpipes. Two Heat PipesSingle Heat PipeCan someone tell me what is the difference between two and which one is more efficient? Lenovo Staff maybe? Also what is the reason for that some i7 are with 2 Heat Pipes and others are with 1. There is also difference between the fan modules. The single heatpipe fan is with 4 wires, while the other one is with 5 wires.  P.S.> And NO it is not the i7 vs i5 CPU, because I have i7 and I am with single Heat Pipe.

T460s - Core i7-6600U, 12GB RAM, 512GB SATA 6G SSD, FHD, EM7455 WWANT440s - Core i7-4600U, 12GB RAM, Crucial MX200 500GB SSD, FHD, WWAN

A:T460s - Different FANs and Heat Pipes

The only one I have seen has 2 pipes.  Was one of them made earlier than the other?  (On the model sticker, there is a manufacture date after the serial YY/MM.)  The parts list only shows one manufacturer.  As far as 4 wires vs. 5 wires, I would expect it wouldn't matter.  Normally, only 3 wires are used - power, ground and tach pulse.  I would expect it wouldn't matter.  I looked at eBay for T460s fans for sale thinking I could see a picture.  They had 2 for sale - one with 1 pipe and 4 wier; the other with 2 pipes and 5 wires.

I have a HIS x1800gto that i know is unlockable with the right bios, ive acquired a bios that will do it its just that i am having incredible difficulty doing so.

My comp at first didnt have a floppy drive so i went with boot cds. The bootable cds wouldnt work for reasons unknown, i created like 5 of them, none would really get working so i jsut caved in and attatched a floppy drive.

created a bootdisk with atiflash, didnt work, reasons unknown, maybe because its a HIS ICEQ3 x1800gto and not a native (made by ati) card, so i used flashrom240, 237 and 16p. none worked. the same problems would come up-

device 0 not found
ati adapter not found
error 0FL01 when i tried to force flash.

obviously the card is there and is working fine. before this a while back and as recently as a few hours ago i attempted atiwinflash. ive heard horror stories about this program but it never really did or work for me till about 40 minutes ago. what i did was i just flashed it again with a fresh HIS x1800gto bios in an attempt to get flashrom to recognize my card. no dice.

now im at a loss since i know the card is there, its operating normally, its not overclocked, temps are prolly at 40c i would wager, so everything should be a go. anybody else have this card or been thru this?

thanks for any help my dudes.

A:Trouble flashing HIS x1800gto into having 16 pipes

Flashing those cards isn't guaranteed to work. If it was, they would be sold with all 16 pipelines already enabled. Maybe MOST of them can unlock, but maybe yours just can't. Obviously, if they could ALL be flashed to 16 pipelines, they would be sold as having 16 pipelines because the company could sell them as a more powerful model and get more money from them. Those ones are cards that were made to run on 16 pipelines, but were unable to according to some test (however inaccurate that test may have been). This means that some WILL run at 16 pipes but some won't. I guess you just got unlucky

I had installed the Hyper-V feature in the latest Windows 1151 but had not used it before I received and installer the Insider Preview edition.

The Hyper-V Manager was configured OK but when I tried to start a VM I created (in this case Windows Server 2016 TP4 since I want to explore the new nested Hyper-V feature) I got the message that the Hyperrvisor was not running. Indeed when I created the services admin tool the HV was not running although it was set to staRt automatic. I could not start it - failed immediately. Most annoying I could not remove the Hyper-V feature. Windows started the removal process after rebooting but then rolled the changes back because it could not apply them. I restored Windows 10 from a recent image I created using AOEMI Backupper. The restore worked flawlessly and instead of trying to remove Hyper-V I've disabled all its processes. Now I can install VMware Workstation and Virtualbox but I really wanted to try Hyper-V

Has anybody got Hyper-V working on Windows 10?- what version if so. Is there a workaround for the Insider Preview or if not how I can I file a bug?

Win 8.1
The symptom is 2 adapters in Device Manager that I can't remove:

From time to time, this problem interferes with the Ethernet card on the PC, and I lose all connectivity for the host OS.  So I really need to fix this.  I've currently recovered connectivity by deleting my VM and the virtual switch in Hyper-V
manager, but I'd like to resolve this problem properly by eliminating these 'unattached' adapters.
I've read many posts and still am not convinced I know which steps to take.  Many of the posts seem a little dated, so I'm concerned I'll create additional problems if I follow old stuff.  Here are a few of the solutions I've seen on the boards:
1) edit the registry, up to 50 times.  This doesn't sound like a great idea but if that's what it takes...

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/windowsserver/en-US/20e826af-b484-48d8-ac24-c3e7c4cc30fd/cannot-remove-ms-virtual-network-switch-adapter-leftover-of-hyperv  and

2) remove the adapter in something called the Administrative Website.  I don't really know what that is.  Is that a current piece of software for use with Hyper-V on Win 8+?  I have been using the Hyper-V manager.  Is that not good
enough?  If Administrative Website is relevant, where do I find a copy for Win 8.1?

Both of these cards can currently be gotten for about 700$ but from what I can tell the air cooled 690 will outperform the water cooled 780. I like the water cooled feature as it would be a lot quieter than my current setup of 2 GTX 460 SE in SLI. I'd like to run Skyrim moded like crazy and I just upgraded to a triple monitor setup so I can't run the 460s in SLI if I want to use all 3 monitors.

Would 2 690s outscale 2 780s or vice versa?

If I got the watercooled 780 I'd buy an 140mm rad for after the cpu and before the vid card.

My rig
i7-950 @ 3.5Ghz
12GB Ram Gskill
2x GTX 460 Se 1GB in SLI
4x WD 7200rpm 2TB HDs
Corsair 800D case with a 360mm water cooling setup
750w Corsair PSU

A:GTX 690 vs 780 Hydro Copper

The 690 is essentially just 2 GTX 680s on one PCB so you will get the max performance from one GTX 690 versus buying a GTX 780. However in the case of 2 780s versus 2 690s I would go with 2 780's. The synthetics of 4 GPU's with 2 690s will look a bit better than 2 780s, however in most games 2 GPU's is all you will really benefit from (3 really is the max in games that give you much of a benefit). The single GPU performance will be better and crisper with 2 780s than with relying on 4 GPU's with the 690 since scaling on the 3rd and fourth GPU normally drops off to about 20% (Many times GPU scaling ranges on the 2nd card in the range of 60-80%, 3rd card 30-50%, 4th GPU 15-30%).

You will be better off with the 780s IMO.

Also since your going to 3 monitor setup, the extra VRAM on the 780 will be beneficial. You do not get the full benefit of the 4gb on the 690 because its really 2gb per GPU and having at least 3gb in this day and age is a necessity.

A:T430s copper shims

Hi, darkschneider94Very interesting plan.It seems thermal pad with high Thermal conductivity value is a better solution then a copper shim. Because of contact beween the shim and cpu/gpu/chipset and the heat sink surfaces. You can't force the high clamp to the caseless chips. Definitely, thermal pad 0.5...1 mm, soft enough, provides better contact quality. I'm sure it's unacceptable to use any thermal pad for CPU especially. So, use thermal grease.

I have a backup server that will be having fibre terminated into Cisco switch and then converted to copper. What are the benefits of converting fibre to copper or is it better to connect server directly to fibre?

A:Benefits for Copper Versus Fibre

Our servers all have fiber network cards that go into a Fiber core switch. All the other switches get plugged into the core switch as well as the router. All the switches have fiber running to the core switch. The only thing we leave on copper is the desktop computers. And those will probably be upgraded to Gigabit ethernet sooner or later.

Hi geeks,
i am a bit confused here as to what I am facing here.
I did a copper cabling (CAT 5e UTP) for someone in his office. I runned the cabled through a trunking. Now the electrician who went to do the electrical wiring also runned his electrical cables through the same trunking in which I runned my cables.

The office uses a Cafe timer to which all the clinet computers connect to the server when the Cafe timer software is opened on the server. Now i have noticed that when you connect the ethernet cable to the ethernet port on the computers, it connects fine though sometimes it take some few seconds to connect and it can surf the web instantly after connecting to the LAN but whenever i run the cafe timer client software on the client computers, it doesn't connect as quick as possible to the Server but until after about 5 minutes time, it will show up on the server as connected.

Anyone has an idea what might be causing this slow connection to the timer software?
I am using Eset Smart Security 4 and I have disabled the firewall completed, so am now using the Windows Firewall.

A:Copper cabling wiring distribution

Bad cabling (never run CAT5 next to AC), poor or slow switching, NIC not configured properly. I would run a cable outside of the conduit just to test whether it is your cabling that is running next to AC power.

So I feel confident the issue is with the GPU since there are obvious signs of the display acting up every time this happens. It happens also to the external monitor when I have it plugged in to the vga port on the laptop.

I cleaned and reapplied some Artic Silver to the CPU and GPU and used a shaved down pre-1982 penny for the GPU. Yet the laptop still does the same thing, so at this point I?m lost as to what could still be contributing to this. I wanted to check the temperature of the GPU but apparently this model does not have a sensor gauge for the GPU. I have tried GPU-Z and HWMonitor but no temperature results, only clocks rates etc.

I performed a clean installation Windows 7 and it went through the whole process without issue, but within about 10 mins of using the desktop, it started again. I hadn't even installed any drivers yet. So I don't think its a driver issue. There are no errors reported when it happens or when I power it back on afterwards.

Hi there everybody,I recently bought an x200, and of course i had to open it, clean it, and i also adjusted some light keyboard flex with tape on the keyboard back, noticing that under the palm rest, there is a foil made of aluminum, and one made of copper. Both of these get bent over the palm rest, i guess to touch the keyboard, which is not something i could be sure it is happening, but after i adjusted the flex, it seems the palm rest in the left side, the one with the copper, on top of the pcmcia, is getting hotter, so maybe the keyboard wasn't touching the copper before. I don't know. So, is that there for some heat dissipation gathered from the keyboard, or is it a faraday cage sort of thing, to shield something, but then why is it supposed to touch the keyboard? Or isn?t it?Also, the keyboard cannot take too much heat, having just the margins and a few other small spots uncovered on the underside, the rest is covered in some plastic. And the supposed connection with the copper foil is about 1 cm wide, going to about 3mm wide after that for a length of 1cm or so. It couldn?t help that much, but yet, the palm rest appears to be hotter. The keys above that area are also a bit warm, so the keyboard must have some kind of heat dissipation function also.Maybe it?s just a bit of extra cooling, although the heatsink and fan appear to be doing a good job with that.I was hoping somebody more knowledgeable here can shed some light over this.Thank you.

I would expect this from a cheap, plastic chromebook, that the paint just comes of from basically a fingernail scratch, but a high end ultrabook? Very disappointed. To everyone who is planning on buying it - if you must, get the silver version, scratches wont be so visiable. The gray and copper version is veeeery easy to scratch. Now question for HP - is there any service you offer that can fix this? Some "repainting" service or a way to exchange the scratched display back? Or am I forced to accept that my brand new notebook will be scratched from now on?

I have been told to never purchase any heatsink which is ALL copper because "Copper does not dissipate heat, and keeps the CPU hot even after the computer has been off several hours, where aluminum heatsinks, or those with *very* small copper cores, always get rid of the heat fast, and it is totally possible to run a computer several hours, turn it off and in less than 5 minutes the heatsink will be absolutely cool to the touch--as if the computer hadn't even been on."
:
BUT, I have been told the opposite too, ... including, "Copper is about 90 - 95% more efficient than aluminum in getting rid of heat."
CPU fan/sink I'm looking at is the Volcano 7+ which is an all-copper heatsink, but should I look for an all aluminum one instead? All help will be appreciated.

I just bought a motherboard off Ebay for my Toshiba A65 Laptop. When I got to the point where I was going to install the video card fan, I noticed a copper plate over the video card attached with some kind of plastic screw.

I'm not sure what this copper plate is, and with it attached to the motherboard I can't install the video card fan. Is there a way to remove it, or is it an alternative to the fan?

Thanks for your help!

I am feeling really frustrated here and would be incredibly grateful for your help. I just CANCELLED my custom built Lenovo 920 order because Lenovo sales has been UNABLE to answer my SIMPLE QUESTION on whether the COPPER is lighter in color than the BRONZE or vice versa. I am paying over 2,000+ dollars for this Lenovo 920 and you would think that Lenovo would at least be able to tell me and/or have accurate photos of the colors this laptop comes in! Considering the huge amount of money I am spending I should be entitled to receive the laptop in my preferred color... don't you think!! I would love to have the lighter golden colored one (not the darker brown color). Once second Lenovo sales tells me the COPPER is darker than the BRONZE and then the next second I am told the COPPER is lighter than the BRONZE and then I am again told vice versa!... so now I have no clue what to think! This ridiculous!! Why is it this much HASSLE to get my simple question answered on this issue??? I need the laptop URGENTLY and have now wasted SEVERAL days because Lenovo sales have NO CLUE whetehr the COPPER or BRONZE is lighter in color. I am very displeased!! I have attached an image.... is the lighter golden one shown in pic the BRONZE or the COPPER??? I urgently need this laptop but cannot complete order because of this issue!

I was replacing a broken LCD unit hinge on a T430 and the copper-colored cable guide for the wires coming out of the left side of the LCD unit fell off the thermal fan assembly.  It looks like it was either soldered or glued onto the top.  Is there any way to reattach it?

I bought the SCNJ-CU1000 Fully Copper CPU Cooler back in 2008, originally it was designed for 775 and 478 sockets. Not having that in my box (now) I saw the Universal Retention Kit 3 having seen that the Universal Retention Kit 3 was not compatible with my 1155 socket after all I have been advised that it will work with the mounting bracket I have been looking for here:
LGA1156 & 1366 Mounting Clips Note: on the German site it says it works with 1155 sockets as well as 1156 and seen as they both share the same size CPU I don't see any problem with this, do you?

I would like to hear from anyone that has fitted this solution!

I know there are a lot with these coolers still that want to use them. Even on the Scythe forums from years ago some OCs have posted about not being able to get this to work, they had the Full Copper cooler and the Universal Retention Kit 3 but still not able to fit it, so I am guessing this will be useful for everyone to know when they search.

I should probably edit or add posts for proper search terms later. Can anyone confirm this will work out right?

Hello, i am having trouble installing the Windows 10 mobile emulator for Visual Studio 2015
First I got this message when I attemped to install the first time
(see screenshot 1)
Dropbox - install microsoft emulator 1st try.PNG
So I went to the bios menu and seen Hardware Virtulization was disabled (See Screenshot 2)
Dropbox - CAM00383.jpg
I then enabled Hardware virtualization (See Screenshot 3)
Dropbox - CAM00382.jpg
I then went back to install the Emulator again and then I got this message
(See Screenshot 4)
Dropbox - install microsoft emulator 2nd try.PNG
So I then went to the website suggested on the first error message
How to enable Hyper-V for the emulator for Windows Phone 8
to find out what went wrong and it said to a SLAT Check. I download the software and I performed the check and the results were good.
(See Screenshot 5)
Dropbox - install microsoft emulator screen 3.PNG
It then said to perform the "Checking BIOS settings required by Hyper-V for Data Execution Prevention"
Went to the performance option and the message said my computer supports hardware based DEP. So I should be able to use Hyper V
(See Screenshot 6)
Dropbox - DEP screenshot 4.PNG
Next it said to perform "Enabling Hyper-V in Windows" and THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEM IS.
Hyper V is not showing up in features

A:How To Install Emulator And Hyper V - Hyper V Won't Install Windows 10

Simple: you have Windows 10 Home edition, it has no Hyper-V. Hyper-V is only available in Pro, Education and Enterprise editions. There's no way you can run Windows Phone emulators because the only way to run them is Hyper-V, which you don't have because of your chosen edition.

You can use Windows 10 Home edition to connect to Hyper-V virtual machines on Pro, Education and Enterprise editions, therefore even the Home edition has parts of Hyper-V to offer this so called Virtual Machine Connection to another Hyper-V server.

In screenshot, green highlight shows the parts of Hyper-V you have in Home edition. They allow you to to connect to so called Hyper-V servers (Windows 10 Pro, Education, Enterprise) and use virtual machines like for instance Windows Phone emulators installed on them over the network.

The parts required for a computer to act as Hyper-V server for virtual machines is highlighted red. That's the parts your Home edition is missing.

I have read many places that MS SQL Server using Named Pipes is using port 139 and port 445. But I don't know when port 139 is used instead of port 445 and vice versa?

Are port 139 and port 445 actually duplicates?

I have limited knowledge in NT Networking.

Aluminium Heat Sink V Copper Heat Sinks for CUP. If you change from a Aluminium Heat Sink to a copper heat sink for yoru CPU in your tower computer (not the slimeline one) the fat boy model.  How much MORE % better does copper work better than aluminium??

A:Aluminium Heat Sink V Copper Heat Sinks for CUP.

A little. Copper has roughly twice the thermal conductivity of aluminum: http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/thermal-conductivity-metals-d_858.html Also use a high silver content thermal compound applied very thin but fully covering the processor core In practice you will see a very small difference in the operating temperature of the computer. Unless you are running hot it is probably not worth the trouble. Aluminum is generally good enough. Airflow is also at least as important as the metal used in the heatsink.

I can't run this computer in Hyper-V because the Hyper-V platform is grayed out? This is a snip from the computer and it says I can run in VT-x so why is that?

The reason is simple: Hyper-V 3.0 requires SLAT - a feature, that only the newest processors supports (AMD from K10 onward, Intel iCore i5/i7). I've addressed it a few months ago in [1] (unfortunately in German). It's a penality user has to pay due of a design decision Microsoft made in the past.

Use Virtualbox, they implemented their virtualization engine in a different way, so VT-x is sufficient.

Hyper-V has been enabled in Windows Features but when the management console appears it offers no list of choices in the righthand menu - just "connect." The lefthand menu is similarly bare.

Perhaps someone has a clue on what's missing, and a step-by-step tutorial on how to recreate the XP-mode experience of Win 7 via Hyper-V in W8.

Q: Hyper V

Yesterday I decided to see if Hyper V worked on my windows 10 pro (build 10240).

Having never used it before i looked on the internet for it and eventually found out that it is included in windows 10 and that I didnt need to download it. Well I think I dont need to download it. Anyway I found out I needed to go to the Windows Features section in the add/remove programs to enable it. I opened the Windows Features, found the feature I wanted to enable, screenshot attached. I enable Hyper V Management Tools, The progress indicator (green progress bar) said it was applying my changes, then I thought that this is strange because it didnt ask me to restart - I remember from other times Ive used it, I have always had to restart (Ive never used it in windows 10 but in other operating systems). I also thought that the option for Hyper V platform is probably the one that I needed so I enabled that one, it would not let me click in the box next to hyper v platform, I had to first open the option with the + sign but I could only choose Hyper V Services and not Hyper V Hypervisor because it was greyed out.(?) I though that strange because it seemed like the Hyper V virtual machine was what I needed. After I clicked the green bar returned and then I was asked to restart my pc. I let it restart and went away from my laptop for a few minutes. When I came back the laptop screen was black and there was a mouse pointer on it. I waited a while and then when nothing happened for about 10 minut... Read more

Yes, under turn features on or off there is a check box. Will require reboot. I personally prefer VMware Player for the average user.
