Q: Solved: Copying Email As Text?

Is there a way to find the files in Incredimail, Yahoo, or Gmail that contain my email and move them to a plain text file in a text editor or to a floppy? I have several hundred emails containing info that I want to keep in a place other than the email program. I use Firefox 1.0 and there is no way to "copy", "paste", "save as" on the file menu. You can save the entire page in html, but I just need to save some of the text.
Also, is there a way to "mass copy" the files at one time?

Sometimes, when I wish to keep a copy of a math argument I find on a website, copying the argument as text is inadequate because there are characters that I do not have in my text editor. For that reason, I would prefer to copy the page as an image and embed that image on a page of my editing program, such as Jarte. Then perhaps I could print the embedded image? Is that a reasonable procedure to try? I might use print screen, for example, to copy the web page.

Hi all,

I am currently using Excel 2003.
I have a column of dates which display the following format 17-Feb-2006. I would like to copy theses from one cell to another, but not in a date format, but as text. Problem is, if I copy into another cell and change the cell format to text, it diplays the cell valuation of 38765.
I also try the data>table to columns route and it does show the cell as text but in this format: '02/17/06'

I believe in excel 97 I could simply copy>paste special>text only, but this seems to have been removed from excel 2003.

I have also simply tried to insert an apostrophe at the beginning of the data in the cell, but this also goes on to display the following format; '02/17/06'

Does this make sense and if so, can anyone pleeeease help.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium and Microsoft Office 2010 so I cannot copy and paste documents with grid lines into emails. I am trying to copy a simple plan of a property into the email response box of a web based supplier of door bells etc. I tried substituting text boxes for the lines with vertical text inside but can`t copy and paste those either. In desperation (because this is likely to be necessary again) I am trying to substitute vertical rows of xxxxs for the lines. And am now having trouble changing text easily from vertical to horizontal rows.

Ever since I got my new computer and Windows XP was installed on it upon purchase, I no longer receive colored text in my emails.

Other than links that are hyperlinked in blue, that's the only color I get.

I also create html pages in FrontPage Xpress. I create the color where I want it, save it, then "view souce" to insert into my autoresponder.

All the color shows up in FPX, but when either viewing the page in my autoresponder, or after sending the message to myself, or just bringing up the saved page to view, there is never any color.

I have text in a control that I would like to email. I know how to email data from a table or a report with the send object or I can send a canned message with this:

DoCmd.SendObject , "", "", "[email protected]", "", "", "Sample Message", "this is a sample", False, ""

But I want to send the text in the control to an email address with a button click. Is it possible? This is just to email the payroll administrators questions or comments and does not have to be saved to any table.

Hello everybody!!!

I have a client that has a windows 2000 Pro Laptop. He uses worldclient (V 9.0.4) as his email address. When he sends me an email it has a subject. It does not however have a body. Even though he types a body in. It's a computer specific problem. All other PC's he uses are able to be sent with the body of the email.

Any ideas?

I'm having trouble emailing a text resume. Searching the web apparently it's considered polite to email resumes (when requested by the employer) in plain text format pasted directly into the email since the prospective employer may have a policy of not opening attachments.

One of the resume websites recommends saving the resume as a text file in Microsoft Word and inserting the line returns so that your sentences will break where you want them to.

I don't have Word, so I used Open Office 3.2. I Pasted the resume text from an already existing Windows Notepad (text) file into the blank text document in Open Office, then put returns where I wanted the sentences to break. The website I was consulting said there is a way to save text in MS Office with the line breaks preserved. I couldn't find any similar command in Open Office, but when I pasted into an Outlook Express new email it looks like I want it to. I send it back to myself by an entry in the address book with "send as plain text" checked.

When I get the email back a few seconds later, the sentences break where I have line returns but also half way down the next line, so I get a jagged looking block of text. One line long, the next short. I don't have any line returns where the sentences break by themselves. In Outlook Express, I set the font and size to the same as the text file before pasting. I am running Livemail on Windows 7. I recently changed the text size through the "View - Text size" tab to "larger" to get a better read of an email. I don't know if there is any link, but now when I print emails they all print in a large text size, (which is using a lot of paper) even though the "view - Text size" tab shows the view as "Medium"!
To print I use "File", "Print" and click the relevant printer. It does not make any difference as to which printer I use, the results are the same.
How do I resolve this problem?

I want to send an email through VBA code. I found the code and it works fine, but I want to add hyperlink in the message body, so when a user opens the email and clicks on the hyperlink, it would open the application (in my case Access app.)

I originally had this posted in the email section, but now I am sure I have a virus of some kind. I am being blocked from certain virus sites, adaware updates and new install...
This all happened after receiving a forwarded email from craigslist. The first symptom was a missing text area in the compose function. I did notice an odd timing delay immediately when I tried to respond, then no send and cancel was slow. I will delete the other post after I copy it here.

I'm not sure if such a thing exists but here's what I'm doing --Online research into old documents that are in foreign language that I want to cut and paste into an online translator but since its an image I currently am retyping everything myself which is time-consuming and maybe not 100 percent accurate on my part.Anybody know / have any ideas about a shortcut - some software or something that can help me out??? You'll need an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program that works accurately with German, and handles formatting well. I don't have experience to make a recommendation there, but others may have done similar and be able to recommend something suitable.

Hi Everybody

I have a minor problem, however it is very frustrating. Could someone please help?
When I want to copy a text from a web page into Word , it will not copy the FULL page. From left to righ,t it will cut off about 10-15% of the document on the right side of the page..
I tried moving the arrows on the top of the page and it doesn’t seem to help.

Am I doing something wrong?

Web pages are in html format so that may have something to do with it. Are you actually trying to copy a section of text from a web page? Need more information.

That does kind of what I want, but not really. What I'd like to do is search for say 4257A and copy that entire row to a new sheet. If a macro could rename the sheet 4257A that would be amazing, or at least survive if the sheet was renamed. It would also be good if this macro searched like this for the vaule located in cell A1 in every sheet after sheet1, that way in a new sheet you type a project number and that sheet fills with that project's information. It would be nice if it did this for all sheets that way as new projects are created they could easily be filled without editing a macro. Thanks for any help!

I use Eudora 6.2, Netscape 7.1, and windows xp. I use Eudora for all email transactions as far as I know. My boss uses AOL (and windows 98 I think). He is trying to send me several files (extension .rpa they are specific to Varian Chromatography software, and readable in notepad). He is attaching them to an email, but when I get them they are not attachments. It has taken all the text out of the files and made that the text of the email. There is nothing attached at all according to my computer. When he sends them to himself, he gets attachments. I need to have them in the original .rpa form to use with the Varian software.

Why is it getting rid of the attachments? He can't find any settings in aol to say not to insert text attachments in the message. I found one on Eudora, but it's not checked.

Normally when I want to copy text from a .pdf, I simply place my cursor at the starting point and drag it down until it covers all the text I want to copy and page. It is a slow process but for a small amount of text it is not a burden. But if I need to copy a large amount of text (pages) it can be slow going. Is there some way I can speed up the process?

Changing a Keyboard on a PC (Vista)

Click on your "Start" menu and choose "Control Panel." In "Control Panel," choose "Regional and Language Options."

With the "General" tab highlighted, click "Add" button to add Arabic to your language choices.

so, for some reason when i paste into into Microsoft Word 2003/XP it adds these ENTER-kind of functions after certain words. to fix the whole document, ive been going to each of those breaks in texts and pressing delete to get rid of that ENTER-kind of thing. What can i do to prevent this, or at least fix it in a faster way?

When I have carefully created a table in an Excel 2010 and formatted each row just like I want it

Suddenly, whenever I copy anything in Word 07, the copied text is bracketed with square brackets. They are gray color, and they are not reflected in the clipboard contents, so I believe they are non-printing characters.

I have never had this happen before, and can't figure out what is going on.

This occurs when using the mouse or CTRL-c to copy. It shows in Print, outline, and Web views.

It doesn't really seem to be breaking anything, but it is a nuisance!

Ok, I just realized that copying is creating bookmarks, named like this: ole_link_20. What on earth is that about?

Close any Word instances.

Press Start orb, copy
in search field, hit enter.

In a that folder find NORMAL.DOTM file, make a copy of it (just in case, to restore this template in the future if something goes wrong), then delete original.

Start Word. Template should be reset to default and a new normal.dotm created.

I've got several HTML files with between 30 and 790 photo gallery images I need to modify the lines - copying part of the line (original filename), adding a string to the front of the filename and inserting it further towards the end of the line before the end of the IMG tag. The filenames I want to copy are all different, but they all have the same folder path before them.

I'm going to try BkReplaceEm, but if anyone else knows of or uses another program, please let me know!

For those kind of tasks I use AutoHotkey, a freeware scripting tool. It has several string functions that can do just about anything. Here are some of them:

StringGetPos - Retrieves the position of the specified substring within a string.
StringLeft - Retrieves a number of characters from the left-hand side of a string.
StringLen - Retrieves the count of how many characters are in a string.
StringMid - Retrieves one or more characters from the specified position in a string.
StringReplace - Replaces the specified substring with a new string.
StringRight - Retrieves a number of characters from the right-hand side of a string.
StringSplit - Separates a string into an array of substrings using the specified delimiters.
StringTrimLeft - Removes a number of characters from the left-hand side of a string.
StringTrimRight - Removes a number of characters from the right-hand side of a string.

Im not really sure what happened, but I seem to have lost the feature to copy and paste text (or even highlight text) when I am typing an email or replying. No matter what I do, I cannot highlight any text at all. This works for other programs of mine, but has stopped for outlook express. Seems like the only option I can do now is right click on the letter and choose select all.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I have search the forum to see if I could find an answer, but if there is one I can't find it. So first off, my apologies if I've posted something that's been answered before!

I have Windows Home and Student 2007, including Word 2007.

I've been search endlessly for weeks now to find dictionary software that allows me to create my own dictionary, complete with any etymology info I wish to include for all entries. I am not seeking just to download a dictionary or use "Custom Dictionary" in Word (which is basically nothing more than a word list). Having realized that what I am specifically needing is not possible unless I pay some company far more than I can afford to supply the software, I am trying to construct one in Word.

My idea is this:
Create a table with a page, or several as needed, devoted to one letter of the alphabet.

Using two columns with the left column being where I put the word's definition and other etymology info.
I tried to copy a sample table here, but it didn't work.
Rather than having to retype all the text I want to include for each entry, I would like to copy the information I've located (using free online dictionaries) directly into the 2nd cell (left column) for each word entry. Unfortunately, I lose any and all formatting when I try to paste what I've selected from any website. It comes out completely garbled. I have Win XP Home. Previous versions of Windows allowed me to copy "something" like a phrase from an internet site and paste the copied words into a Word or Excel document.

Win XP home will not let me do this easily. The application that I will paste to must be open first before XP will copy the text. That is, if I want to copy the phrase "COPY ME" from a web site to Word, I need to have Word open first, then I copy the phrase and paste it to Word.

Help. How can I get back to the way Win 95 and 98 worked allowing me to copy something, open an application and then paste the phrase?

I (a) don't have this problem (b) found a few comments where this had been experienced (NB - but no solutions).

There was a suggestion to the effect that the act of opening the Office app was clearing the clipboard. I suggest you copy something, then run the clipboard (in windows\system32 probably), then run e.g. Word to see what happens. Might help to rule this out.

I'm having a hard time copying text and images together into Word 2000 from the Internet. My friend sent me a graphic I want to use in a signature file but when I try to save the graphic into Word, 2000, I only get the text and the image appears as a square blank box. I am a beginner user to Microsoft's OneNote, and hence just discovered their OCR 'grab text from image' handy feature.

However, when I do this, it does not keep the original paragraph format of the text.

Couple of questions about using the Strikethrough (I also called it the "Strikeout" here). I wrote a paragraph, highlighted the single word I wanted to put the strikeout through, then put the strikeout through it.(Format>Font>checkmark "Strikethrough".)

I have two questions:
1.) How do I END using that format? Everything I type from that point forward has the strikethrough. I've tried double-spacing and even going down several lines to "break" it, but the moment I position a normal word next to the strikethrough word, it assumes the strikethrough as does everything that follows. It would go on for paragraphs!

2.) Copying & pasting: Somehow (I don't know how! and I can't do it again!) I DID manage to break out of the Strikethrough format, and I typed a whole parapgraph in Word after the Strikthrough word. Then I did a copy & paste to put it in an Outlook Express email. The whole paragraph ended up pasting with the Strikethrough running all the way through it (every word in two paragraphs crossed out.) I really just want to confirm that I can't do that. (Or can I, it seems simple - ?) (I also tried to use the OE "Format>Normal) command to get the text to go back to normal but it wouldn't. I couldn't break out of it.

A:(Solved) Using the "Strikethrough" in Word, and copying text with the Strikethrough

For the first part you can just go back into format - font - and remove the checkmark that you put there. Also, if you go forward to the next letter that doesn't have a strikethrough (or any other thing such as bold or italic) and then backspace, it will adopt the same format as the text that follows instead of the previous text.

As for copy and paste, strange things do happen. I don't know what the cause would be, probably some bugs in Word.

nothing happens when trying to make a copy of e-mail., WIN98, HP882C, OE98, IE5. Everything else will copy? I have called my server and they say something is wrong with the computer setup or printer. Any suggestions.

I was looking to store MANY MANY received emails for future reference. I got them saved as .dbx files but cant seem to xfer them over(and open them up) to another media. I want to save them to a CD-R. Anyone......please suggest your ideas. I know others have had to do this before.

I used to be able to use the Print Screen key and directly Ctrl V the screenshot into my email (not having to use the Paint program). However, I just recently noticed that when attempting to paste into an email, nothing gets pasted, although if I go through my Paint program, the screenshot is saved and can be displayed through that. Why would this change? What can I do to again directly copy the screenshot into my email?

I would like to know if anyone can tell me how I can copy email addresses to my address book from an email received. The addresses are those to which the original email was sent. I am taking over distribution of a club newsletter and will be emailing the newsletter to the group who received the first email.

My neighbors just returned from a three month trip, booted up their Gateway, and found Explorer email is making multiple copies of email messages. I tried to delete them from over 300 stored at their ISP and finally got down to 60 unread emails. Each time I hit receive first 42 come in freezes on 43, I delete first 42 in both locations, restart frozen mail program and the 42 deleted messages are there again. Any suggestions will be appreciated
