Firefox Adding WWW to Every Address

Q: Firefox Adding WWW to Every Address

I'm using FF 1.5 at work and there is an application that we access via the browser. It does not have a www address yet FF wants to add this infront of the server address.

should be: http://blah.blah/

FF making it: http://www.blah.blah/

How do I get it to stop this behavior?

Preferred Solution: Firefox Adding WWW to Every Address

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Try edit/preferences/ and turn off autocomplete in the web settings. (I think that's where it is. )

I have the McAffee suite of security tools and I have used their Spamblocker to eliminate most of the junk (and worse) that comes in to e-mail. The trick I use to to limit incoming mail to only those names in my personal address book. I find that, periodically, some weird names appear that I did not put there. Among other things, the "@" symbol is listed as one of my friends. Other, full names, also appear. I'd appreciate knowing if anyone else shares this problem, or knows how I can stop it from happening. I've attached a log of HIJACK This that was made today.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have an NT4 network and each of my workstations runs microsoft exchange.
I thought it would be a good idea to create an address book that contained email address for all of our company contacts that could be used by all.

I am now not sure if this can be done.
My cunning plan was to place a personal address book on the server and point all users at it and BINGO there u go.(my users don't use their personal books anyway, I think its a little difficult for them)
But the personal address book will only allow one person to access at a time.
What can I do to accomplish my goal, can it be done with exchange at all?

A:adding a shared address book

Do you run Exchange Server as this would normally be done on the Global address list if not you would need to copy the file *.pab from the pc that you created the list on and go to each pc and use file import method. In itself very easy but no fun if you have to update it.

Google has apparently made a change to the way this used to work.
If I wanted to set up a quick and easy (and free) branded email ([email protected]), I used to create a Gmail address (usually similar to [email protected]) and add [email protected] as a verified sending address.  With my registrar I create an email forward from [email protected] to [email protected], I would set the default send from address to the branded address and no one would be the wiser that I am using Gmail.
I tried to set up an account yesterday and Google doesn't allow the use of their own mail servers anymore.  In Gmail under "settings" (http://d.pr/i/wN60) then to "accounts and import" then in the "send mail as" section click "add another email address you own".  Enter the name and email address you want to use and click "next step".  At this point you used to have the option to use the Google mail servers but now you are required to enter your own mail server and credentials (http://d.pr/i/KaOn).
I have two paid mail providers and I have tried using the settings for both which get authenticated when Google checks, however neither are giving me a verification email.
I have set up dozens of accounts the old way but just wondering if anyone else is running into this new roadblock?

Hi anyone..

I am using IE 7 and outlook express! Having a minor problem trying to create a group list for first time! My Son previously created one for me and it works ok, and also shows all recipents in the group list!
Following a tutorial on the internet I am trying to create another group! I created the group name with no problem. I can also add new contacts to the list! But after entering the contacts, etc when I highlight the group in my address book, and then click on properties, the group box opens, but shows no contacts entered!

Upon doing the same thing with the group that my Son created, all contacts that were entered show up as being entered! I have followed instructs as best I could, and also clicking "OK" after entering a name, but still the name doesn't appear under properties, as they do with the group my Son created! I don't think it is a glitch with outlook experss. I am just not completing something, or doing something else wrong in the process.

Any Advice would be appreciated it I have been explanitory enough with my little problem!

It keeps returning with the prompt

The parameter is incorrect.
It works fine if I exclude the %6, but thats for the interface(?), so i can't take it off.

I had some users switch from outlook express to outlook so since it is easier to backup their emails by only needing 1 pst file.

But now they complain because there is no feature in outlook that automatically adds people they correspond with to their address book like it did when they were using outlook express.
From what I read it looks like that function is discontinued in all versions of outlook? But I did find some add-ins that would do it for only $15.00, is that the best way to go?

Another thing is that it seems that people with outlook 2002 have the autocomplete feature that fills in the email address when they start typing the first few characters but I have someone using outlook 2000 and I could not get the autocomplete function to work. I had "name checking" checked but not sure if that is what does it. Or do I need to upgrade outlook 2000 to 2002 to enable that function?

Any tips or suggestions appreciated.

Mozilla has pulled a "Chrome" by adding a search box to the new tab page in Firefox 31, which reached beta status yesterday and is slated to ship in final form on July 22.
Along with the nine thumbnails representing the user's most-frequently-visited websites, the new tab page in Firefox 31's beta sports a search field near the top of the window. Typing a search string in the box initiates a search on Google, unless the user has changed the default search engine. If the Firefox user has changed the search engine -- say, to Yahoo or Microsoft's Bing -- that choice is also used in the new tab page's search box.

Hi guys,

I remember a long time ago before one of the firefox updates, when I typed something in the address bar of Firefox, it would give me autofill suggestions that matched what I was typing from the BEGINNING of the url. But now when I type something, it starts giving me suggestions from all over, like the MIDDLE or END of the url. For example, lets say I wanted to go to computer.com, so I type "com", I start getting results of the all matches with the word "com" in it with the most visited first, like "blah.COM" or "beCOMe.edu". I think the option I want is for it to autofill alphabetically (disregarding www.) instead of what it does now.

I tried searching on how to fix this Firefox was first changed to do this and I believe I couldnt find an answer. I also forgot what I searched cause I couldnt find any results this time so would appreciate any help. Thanks!

I'm also attaching a screenshot of what I mean. I was trying to go to complex.com and always ended up getting eonline.com as the first option. I also have a habit of pressing enter right away so it kept eonline as the first option cause I was visiting it the most.

My preferred browser is Firefox and I have been using FF 4.0 beta 7 for a number of weeks.

Instead of going to google to search for a site, FF was set up to search directly from the address bar, so I could type BBC and it would take me straight to google with results shown for BBC.

For some reason, if I do it now something strange happens.

I get a screen with what appear to be search results, but they are in german. The title in the tab is "suchen sie" and the results bear no resemblance to BBC. If it helps I can post a screenshot but will wait until told to do so, if necessary.

Also, if I visit any sites with google ads on the page somewhere, they are always in German.

I have looked around to see if this PC is set up as though I am in Germany (which I'm not) and have been lead to believe that this may be a DNS error.

Any thoughts or suggestions???
P.S. I have recently had a problem where my browser was hijacked and I was getting google redirects. I have pretty much finished the cleanup but this issue (with the German page) is still happening. I would have posted this as part of my other thread but believe it is a separate issue, due to it happening a long time before the redirects.

It seems since using FF for a good while now (getting the latest updates when available). And I have yet to be able to use the address bar without any problems.

Before 1.5 came out, I would always have the problem of getting incomplete addresses, for example, if I was typing "tec" for techsupportforum.com, when the completed address appears underneath, if I didn't click it JUST right, it would try loading a page with just "tec".

Now it's gotten more frustrating since i got 1.5. When I use the address bar to click on sites I've been to before, it now seems to simply "refresh" the page and not load the page I want.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way to fix it?

Any help appreciated.

OK, this is driving me crazy. I hate having my typos redirected to search pages. I have always hated searches being run automatically without my express consent. And for all the crap that goes with IE, at least you had the option to disable the search from the address bar.

I also tried to disable the search suggestions (for when you actually are in a search window) by changing browser.search.suggest.enabled to false, but even after restarting FF the search suggestions still pop up.

Here's what I am looking for: when I type something into a box, I want NOTHING to pop up with any suggestions. I am not an 80-year old AOL user. I can type. I don't need a list of suggestions after every letter I add to my search string or URL. It's f-ing irritating.

I went through all config settings under the "search" filter and tweaked them where I thought it might help (e.g. removing entries for defaultenginename, order.1, order.2), but nothing worked.

Using "browser" as the filter, there are several more instances of google that show up under these:

So that looks promising, but I don't want to go messing around blind with too many settings.

Can someone please tell me how to disable all automatic searches and pop up search suggestions in FF (, running on XP Home)?? I went to the FF forum, but the search disable entries I found there were all for pre-release beta-versions of 3.0.

Okay, to give you all the short story, I have the latest version of FireFox and I was downloading some torrents, and the this "search engine" called "MyWebSearch" took over my address bar. I know its spyware and I want it gone. However I lack the technical skill to fix this.

What I have done that hasn't worked is:

-Uninstalled and reinstalled FireFox.
-Went through all my hard disks and drivers to delete all everything that has to do with MyWebSearch.
-I have used SpyBot Search and Destroy.
-I have used McAfee.
-I have used RegCure.
-I even went through the registry to delete all the MyWebSearch I could find.

Nothing has worked. At this point IDC whether it's deleted or not, I just want my address back.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7
