Hotkeys not working on Windows 10 1803 (L580)

Q: Hotkeys not working on Windows 10 1803 (L580)

We just received L580 laptops and i have installed Windows 10 1803 version on it. Fn buttons F1-F6 work just fine without installing anything else (volume, brightness). But switching projector mode and further buttons do not work. I have tried to install Hotkey Feature Integration 9.0.1.6. Installation itself behaves weirdly, so i'm not sure it actually installs. It shows me last screen with Finish button and a checkbox "Install Hotkey Feature Integration" now. I leave this checkbox checked and press Finish. Cursor blinks a few times and sometimes it says that the command was completed successfully, sometimes not. I don't see anything installed in the Programs & Features list. Buttons do not work still. Same with Lenovo P71 model. Is this driver compatible with 1803 version? Maybe i need to install some additional Lenovo software/drivers to make these buttons work? Actually, i only need projector mode button to work.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Not sure if there is an official solution but heres my issue: After upgrading to Windows 1803, my fingerprint reader just stopped working with Windows Hello. Tried troubleshooting with drivers and eventually did a hard reset which did address the issue...only temporarily. I already looked into other forum post regarding deleting and reinstalling the fingerprint drivers as well as the Intel SGX drivers as well but those didn't seem to solve the issue. Any insight on the issue would be great!

I did a clean install of Windows 10 on my ThinkPad P50 (Originally came with 7) and the hotkeys (mic mute, settings, search, etc.) on the function keys don't work. I installed most of the drivers from Lenovo's website but still no luck. Is there a specific driver that makes these keys work?

Hi, You're notebook has Intel/Nvidia switchable graphics and looking atr the screenshot, it doesn't look like the Intel driver is installed. Try the following. Download the Intel HD Graphics driver on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72501-73000/sp72810.exe When done, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the link below. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72043.exe When this has completed, do not restart the notebook as prompted, instead open your Downloads folder, right click the Intel HD Graphics package and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load for a few minutes before checking. Regards, DP-K

A:After today's windows updates, my hotkeys are not working

Run the restore point the update made. It does that so you can back off changes.
Press Winkey +Pause. Click System Protection. Press the System Restore Button.
Choose the restore point made by the update. If there is more than one restore point made just before the updates, choose the first restore point made by an update. That should back off all changes.

Ok, after trying many things to solve this issue, I turn to the community to try to help.I have a T420, i5-2520M, Windows 7 Pro, SP1, 64-bit. Everything was working fine until I switched off the wireless function using the manual switch on the right hand side of the laptop next to the DVD drive. When I switched it back on, the wireless network did not reactivate by itself. After waiting a little time, I hit Fn+F5 to see if it needed switching on via that control. The window came up with a message saying I needed to flick the manual switch back which I already done. I have recently bought a L580 Type 20LW-000VGE. Unfortunately, after the initial start of the pre-installed Windows 10 Build 17134, I found out that the Audio is not working. The symbol on the task bar has a red circle with white cross on it. After right clicking on it I see no device but Speakers (UNKNOWN), hovering over it gives "Deactivated". I have tried downloading the drivers from lenovo's drivers page and installing them . No change.I have installed the chipset drivers and tried Lenovo System Update from the drivers page. No change.I have updated the BIOS drivers with the files from the drivers page. No change.I have plugged a headset into the audio jack, no sound and no change in the icon on the taskbar.I have tried installing them over the device manager and manually choosing the driver in the extracted folder, which gives me a blue screen. There is no uninstalled hardware visible in the device manager, even if I let it show the hidden devices.I have tried completely resetting the laptop with erasing all the data. No change.I have tried a bootable ubuntu 18.04 stick, but still don't get any audio there. While in ubuntu, sudo lshw gave me info about a "High Definition Audio Device" from Intel, as well as in the Windows Device Manager, and nothing regarding realtek. Is my laptop broken or is there something else I can try?

Hello. I have a Lenovo G580 Notebook with Windows 10 installed. The issue is that the Windows hotkeys, that is Windows key and other letter combinations, aren't working. For example, normally, if I press Windows key + I, then the Settings app should open up or if I press Windows key + R, then Run should open up. But the Start screen opens up instead in all such cases.

This is happening since I have updated the Synaptics touchpad driver via Windows Update. If I uninstall the driver, then the hotkeys start working again. But as soon as I install the driver, they stop working. This was not happening with Windows 10 before, even when the Synaptics driver was installed. It has suddenly started happening couple of months ago. Also I cannot completely uninstall the Synaptics driver because my laptop came with it itself nor can I stop the driver from updating as it is an important driver and it needs to be updated to be compatible with Windows 10.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

hi everyone, i'm not exactly sure if this is the place to post. but i'm hoping someone can help me with this.

as described in the title of the thread, my nokia 5310 music express cellphone used to have a roll of hotkeys, where i can press the down button, and choose from a list of about 6 hotkeys laid out horizontally. however i think it was because of poketdialing or something, my phone's layout changed. i only get 4 hotkeys, and they're activated by pressing the 4 directions. each direction being a hotkey. problem with this is that it's too easy to poketdial and go into those applications, meaning i'll have to turn on automatic key lock, but since it's the 5310 i always listen to music with it, once it locks the keypad i have to unlock it to change the music, making it very annoying. anyways if i can get some help in this matter that'll be awesome.

I recently reinstalled Windows 10 on my yoga 920 (due to a boot loop issue whenever trying to update past Windows 10 Fall 2017 update), and in the process, wrongfully assumed I wouldn't need the laptops factory OS backup partition, as well as what I believed to be just a backup driver partition. Now I installed every driver there is in Lenovo Vantage, as well as on Lenovo's Yoga 920 driver page, however now several Hotkeys no longer work.Specifically, all of the hardware functions. The Airplane mode enable/disable, Mic enable/disable, and the feature I miss the most, the Quiet Mode toggle for the fans (Fn + Q). The quiet mode doesn't seem to be in the bios either unfortunately. Someone else seemingly had the same issue, however they solved it Via a recovery of the Lenovo partition. It's a bit too late and seemingly extremem measure to me, however they cover the things I've already tried and an even better explanation of the same Hotkeys I'm missing: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-920-new-out-of-box-cannot-use-some-ho...Does anyone know how I can get these features back, I cannot find any drivers mentioning it, and it's very frustrating that these wouldn't be included on Lenovo's Driver Download page.

The volume up/down keys on my X1 Carbon 2nd Gen (the one with the touch bar) are working in an odd way - every single button press on either volume up or volume down registers as a mute/unmute press, and only if I hold my finger down can I get the volume up/volume down function to work. So there is no way to add or remove a single increment of volume - that always just registers as mute/unmute. Does anyone know a way to fix this issue?

The brightness hotkeys used to be functioning correctly. After updating the Hotkey Support driver from (pre-installed) version 6.2.20.8 Rev.A the secondary screen and brightness function keys stopped functioning. I reset the device to factory settings after running a hardware diagnostic on the keyboard using the built-in hardware diagnostic utility. The function keys worked again. I updated Windows 10 with the latest available updates. The keys still worked. I updated all the HP drivers (except the Hotkey Support application) to the latest version using the pre-installed HP SoftPaq program. The function keys still worked. I created a system restore point. I then updated the Hotkey application to the latest version after which the keys stopped functioning. I uninstalled the latest version and installed version 6.2.20.8 Rev.A again, but the function keys did not work. I ran a system restore to the system restore point I created earlier and the keys worked again. Apparently something is wrong with the installation of the Hotkey Support application, causing it to not work. I hope this issue can be routed to the appropriate team and that it will be investigated.

Good morning, I am lucky enough to have a shiny new ZBook 15u G3 which has a clean W10 install.  Lovely machine but I am expriencing some niggles with the hotkeys, specifically brightness (f5,f6) and I am not sure whether mic mute is working either (f10).  Keyboard backlights are fine (f3) as is volume (f8,f9). I ran the HP SoftPaq download manager to find all the specific drivers for this machine and while the HP Hotkey Support software seemed to be included in the bundle, it did not install. I have tried downloading and installing it separately but  keep getting this error message:  The file does exist, and I have tried running it directly from the 'Progam Data' folder but get the same error.  Finally I tried copying the msi file directly to the desktop which seemed to let it install i.e. it is listed in 'Programs and Features' but the functionality is still missing. I have also tried updating to the latest bios. I can change the brightness in the display settings and can increment in 25% steps in the action centre but it is not the same as just being able to tap a button.  This was an expensive machine and I am somewhat frustrated that this basic functionality that I require regularly is absent. Our IT guys are currently out of ideas, so any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.

Hi, there are many topics like this and there was a solution, but it doesn't work any more. Here is one: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Yoga-Gen2-OLED-Color-Settings-stopped-work... So the fix would be uninstalling "System Interface Foundation V2 Device" from device manager, reboot and open Vantage and download and install SystemInterfaceFoundation.exe. But that doesn't work anymore and changing color settings does nothing. any fix for this? Also another problem I have with color settings is that the custom color mode doesn't work. It works when you reset the Windows but after Windows Update the ability to use custom color settings is gone. I would like to see some fix for this also as I would like to try the DCI-P3 color space.

Hi everyone.

I have upgraded my Asus u36SG to Windows 8 PRO 64 bit, doing a clean install.

I have installed all the main drivers from the official Asus website (which includes the ATK Package and the Keyboard Filter), however my hotkeys (FN) don't work properly. For example: when I try to decrease volume or brightness, I only go one step (of 100) down, and then I have to wait like a minute or two to make any other fn combo work again.

I've reinstalled the driver, even tried to install the win7 driver, but no luck. I've searched through the web, found some users with the same problem, but no solution for me.

Any idea?

Hi friends. I am using Lenovo Ideapad 310-15IKB running on Windows 10 64-bit, Anniversary Update. Lately, I got a BIOS update through? Companion app which said "System is not UEFI", since I was using Legacy mode. So I converted my disc from MBR to GPT using AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional software. But after converting I noticed that some of the hotkeys like airplane mode, disable mic, disable camera, disable touchpad are not working (Disable toucpad did work, but the disabled icon wasn't displayed). So then I reverted back to Legacy mode using same software. But still it didn't work. I tried reinstalling all the drivers from the Lenovo support website. But still it didn't work. Is there any solution for this problem? Some keys like volume and brightness still work.

Members, Looks like the hotkey problem is back with Windows 10 Pro 1909... From my last run-in with this problem: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-Yoga-Some-Hotkeys-Stopped-Working/m... I rolled back to 9.1.0.2 as per this page with no luck either. Specs: Product: 20FQ001VUSBIOS: N1FET70W (1.44)Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Version 1909 Build 18363.476Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad Version 9.1.0.3 or 9.1.0.2 All updates completed (Lenovo and Windows). Thoughts?-Matt
