I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Lenovo Community Forum; Question: can someone help me adjust the sensitivity on my touchpad? I have got a ThinkCentre M Series desktop. I just bought a Lenovo Wireless Touchpad (K5923). The left mouse button is too sensitive. In the "Mouse Properties" dialog box there is no way to adjust the sensitivity. Thanks.

So when I have a Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2 in 1, and when I bought it I had generic Windows drivers which didn't provide any options for touchpad sensitivity, so I then downloaded the generic Synaptics touchpad drivers for Windows 10, and my computer says they are working, however I wasn't given any more options regarding touchpad sensitivity. Are there any other drivers I could try? And how should I install these drivers so they would function correctly? Thanks in advance

So I have the updated Window 10 Home and Lenovo Settings Ver. 3.169.0.0. It doesn't allow me to adjust Trackpoint or Touchpad speed when I go to the tab "Input". Both speeds are kept lowest and I cannot scroll the bars at all. What I can do is go to Synaptics Control Panel to adjust the speeds. However every time I open the laptop again after Sleep or Reboot, the speeds go back to lowest again. Please help me solve this issue. Thanks!

I have a wired keyboard and Windows 10.  I have had my pc for only a few weeks.  I have to pound the keys on my keyboard to type.  If I type normally, about 25% of the keys I hit don't work (letters won't appear on the screen.)  I might have to take the keyboard off my old 10 year old pc.  I have an HP Pavilion.

A:How do I adjust keyboard sensitivity

I had the same problem, but I have a wireless keyboard for my HP TouchSmart PC.   After more than 3 years I have just gotten used to it and the problem basically no longer exists.  I think keyboards simply have a different feel, or level of force needed to use.  I think my keyboard has softened a bit with use, but not alot.  I think you options are get used to it, or replace it.  there is no adjustment possible.

I recently reinstalled Windows 7 on my laptop. Prior to formatting, the mouse was working PERFECTLY. After formatting, the mouse is acting much differently. I am using the Synaptics software just as I was before I reinstalled Windows 7, and the mouse pad is MUCH more sensitive than it used to be when my palm hits it. If I type anything in the QWERTY row, my palm never fails to tap the mousepad and it screws everything up (you know how it goes).

I've gone into the Synaptics settings and changed palm check sensitivity and everything else on there that I think would help, and nothing does. Is this a Windows 7 issue? Does anyone have any suggestions on it?

Thanks
Chris

I'm running Windows XP on a Q2 Designs laptop. My problem is the ultra sensitive touchpad. If I move the mouse pointer over a link, the mouse automatically clicks the link. I've checked, and the touchpad uses the Windows PS2 mouse driver, so there is no setting for sensitivity. I've also tried using an external wireless mouse, but there is no way to disable the touchpad. Yes, I've checked the Control Panel Mouse settings and there is no mouse disable.

Is there any way to desensitize and/ or disable the touchpad?

Hi raydonald, welcome to TSF..

do you have Touchpad control icon in your notification area (sys tray, bottom right hand corner of your screen)? If yes, you should be able to edit settings or disable there.

It sounds as if you?ll have best use out of your touchpad by turning off your touchpad?s "tapping" function:press the blue thinkvantage buttonselect device configurationselect mouse settingsselect manage settingsselect the ?ultranav? tab along the topgo to settingsselect ?Tap and Drag? tabdisable tappinga faster way to get to the tapping function if you later find you want to turn it on and off, is to locate the ultranav icon on lower right of your screen, left of the system time, click there, and go to touch pad settings.

Assuming you have the correct software already installed. Open control panel (switch to classic view) -Open Mouse - Go to the 'Device Settings' tab - There you'll see 'Synaptics Touchpad', click it and click settingsNow double click (or expand) 'Sensitivity'Click 'touch sensitivity' There you can set the touch sensitivity to your preference.

My touchpad is way too sensitive and I have no way to adjust it. I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook that came with Vista but has been upgraded to Windows 7. I tried following other threads to fix this but my situation seems to be different. I tried downloading new drivers but the message I get says there aren't any drivers for this notebook with this OS. There is nothing anywhere on my computer that says Synaptics which I thought I had before the upgrade. I have Mouse Properties with tabs that read: Buttons, Pointers, Pointer Options, Wheel, Hardware. Nothing about a touchpad at all. Anyone have an idea?

Hello Shibara and welcome to Seven Forums.

- Create a restore point before you do anything else. Name it pre-synaptic driver (or something else) so it's easy to find it again.
- Go to the HP driver download support site

HP Support & Drivers | United States

- Click on the small down arrow in the Drivers & Software box.
- Type in Pavilion dv6000, click Search
- Click on your specific model (probably the first one, dv6000 CTO notebook)
- Select your original operating system (that would be Vista or Vista 64 bit)
- Open the download for Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices
- Under synaptics touchpad click on More Info and you should see the driver package called sp37065.exe (you can either click on it to open and install or you can save it to a convenient location, like your desktop.)

Personally, since this is a Vista driver, I'd save the .exe file and install it using Compatibility Mode. Hopefully Windows 7 will recognize the driver and give you full Synaptics functionality.

Compatibility Mode

If this doesn't work, use your restore point to roll back your computer. You can try downloading the generic 32 bit or 64 bit Synaptic driver directly from Synaptic. But as they warn, it may not work because each computer manufacturer customizes the basic driver to work with their specific computers. If it doesn't work, you may have to use the restore point again and just learn to make do with the sensitivity issue.

I'm having issues with my HP pavilion 15 notebook. the touchpad is super sensitive. When i go to click on things, the cursor jumps from where I'm about to click to somewhere just next to where it was. I tried going into the settings to see if there was a way to dull the sensitivity or completely deactivate it from the bottom part of the touchpad, but could not find anything. I tried putting a piece of tape over the bottom 1/5th of the touchpad in order to stop the cursor from jumping around as i clicked on that part of the touchpad, but it didn't have the desired effect and the tape started getting all sticky. I really just want 2 analogue buttons on the bottom, like the older models. Is there anyway I can replicate this effect? I have no need for that much touchpad.

Hi, I just purchased a new Samsung laptop model: NP-QX411-W02UB running WIndows 7. I'm having difficulties with the touchpad. Specifically, I am not seeing any options in the control panel to adjust the sensitivity. The touchpad registers a long click and a short quick as two separate things; as opposed to relying on a double click to open a file, the short click does so while a longer click is necessary if I just want to highlight a file. Any way of changing this? Also, is there any way to disable tap to click functionality? I hope that all is clear. Thanks in advance!

I don't use the touchpad often at all, and never when there is a USB mouse.

I find that I am constantly pushing the cursor off when I am typing (I assume by gently touching the touchpad).

My previous laptop had a setting where I could disable teh touchpad entirely when there was a USB mouse hooked up. That was perfect. There isn't any for this ThinkPad.

I know there are sensitivity settings for the touchpad, but I'm not sure which ones work, and where to move them. What settings would be best for me to adjust, and in what direction?

Other than that, I've had this for a couple of weeks now and I really like it. I just wish I could deal better with the touchpad.

I have an annoying problem with the touchpad sensitivity on my new work notebook. When holding down the left or right mouse button underneath the touchpad the sensitivity of the touchpad greatly increases with about 100%. When the buttons are pressed I can move the cursor about twice the distance compared to normal. I want the sensitivity to stay the same, regardless if I'm dragging something/selecting multiple items or just moving the cursor as normal. File management becomes a pain when it's like this. - My previous notebook, also from HP, did not do this, so this is something new with this computer.- No acceleration or "enhance pointer precision" is enabled anywhere.- If I connect an external mouse, it does not behave this way.- I also noticed that if I double tap and hold and drag with the touchpad the sensitivity is unchanged.- Likewise, clicking an external mouse button, but dragging with the touchpad is unaffected.- And also the mouse button above the touchpad (belonging to the TouchStyk) is also not causing this for the touchpad.- The touchpad left and right buttons don't magically increase the sensitivity of the external mouse either. It's ONLY the touchpad's physical left and right mouse button that raise the sensitivity of ONLY the touchpad when depressed. I don't see any setting for this. On the Synaptics TouchPad tab in Mouse Properties there's a button to "Microsoft Mouse and touchpad", but there's no option about this. In any case, this... Read more
