I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

i'm a first time poster, so if this is the wrong spot please move or delete it if inapproiate.

here it goes, i've been playing English tricksteronline (ETO) since it first came out but in the next few days i'l be moving to Hong Kong for unknown but long time and i know they have there own version of trickser (HKTO) so the hances are they'll block my access to ETO.

my question is, is there a way for me to still play ETO in Hong Kong? any means would be nice, i hate that fact that region will cause me to lose my account with all the work i put in and of course my friends and guild etc...

please, any help will be nice. thank you in advance

A:Tricksteronline region IP block issues

Hi,

1.) You'll need to contact their support team to see if you can actually play ETO with a Hong Kong ISP.
2.) Theres absolutely nothing you can do if they do block traffic from Hong Kong. You'll have to find a different game.

A:block a web site

You should be able to block a website in your Restricted Sites in Internet Explorer. Another option is to edit your hosts file to redirect the domain name to the localhost address (127.0.0.1).

Another great option, which is the one I use at home is to setup an OpenDNS account and use their DNS server address. You can block websites from your account.

Tools > Internet Options > Restricted Sites > enter URL of site you want restricted. Problem is that anyone with moderate knowledge can remove the restricted URL.

A better way is using administration privileges to set up accounts for users of your PC. That way only the administrator can change the restricted sites.
Start > Control Panel > User Accounts To make it secure you will need the administrator account password protected.

Does anyone know how to block a Europe web site ? I have guy who goes to a Europe web site to download free movies and free songs but there may be malware on that site.

Well most 95% of the sites where you download free movies and free songs have malware .

If not I'm going to have to put linux OS on and use firefox because windows is just too easy to get malware even if you use AVG and zone-alarm running.

Or should just add the site to a restricted site in the screenshot?

This add-on stops a link to the site being clicked: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3145

If you want to stop the site from ever reaching your pc you could add it to the hosts file:
- Click start-run

- Press run
- Append the line:

Code:

hi i want to block certain sites from my computer and the others on the network through one computer using the admin privileges i have how can i do this.

A:Block a site on my computer network

Using ICS:
Code:
modem==[B]Primary[/B] computer===router---other PCs
the firewall on the Primary will control access of other devices, but it's a pain to configure AND the Primary must be running for anything else to have Internet Service (including even simple email).

the more typical layout
Code:
modem===router --- All devices
is far more practical but only the common router is available for access controls and
with the average home-router, it is limited in the number of keywords or urls that can be managed.

Each PC could have its own system32\drivers\etc\hosts file and block access with
a line per site (meaning everything at a given domain) like

Code:
127.0.0.1 blocked_domain_name
but then you need to update all PCs with every change and recycle the DNS on each machine usingipconfig /flushdns
net stop "dns client"
net start "dns client"while effective, this technique is all-or-nothing, ie all users are denied uniformily

I am running Win XP, SP3 on a Dell M4300; AVG 8.5 security package. I use SpyBot, Malwarebytes, and Stinger frequently (manual scans only). I run CleanUp daily and Registry Mechanic ~ once a month so there is not much junk on my system. I have recently encountered (within the last week) a browser redirect problem. I run IE once in a while (mostly when MS requires it), FireFox 3.6 most of the time and have been playing with Google Chrome. All three exhibit much the same problem: entering urls directly seems to work fine but clicking on search results often generates a redirect to some other search-like site. Normally if I go back to the original search page and reclick on the target, I get the right site. I have also recently not been able to connect to www.malwarebytes.org It is the only site I know that is valid, but can not connect to it (nor can I ping it). It was an inability to update malwarebytes that indicated that I had this "site block" problem.

I have run every virus checker and rootkit checker I normally use with no problems detected. I checked my HOSTS file, but it looks pristine. I ran HitMan Pro and it indicated that both my DNS server addresses (for wireless card and for Broadband controller) were "unsafe" and "blacklisted". The address in both cases is 93.188.164.231 HitMan Pro also indicated that atapi.sys is a rootkit and should be removed. So far I have done nothing about the HitMan Pro results.

I also use ESET Smart Security and tried your website. I got the same message. I would trust ESET on it. Something doesn't seem right with the page. If you want to gain acces, lower your security settings but I don't recommend it. If ESET says it's on a list of dangerous sites, perhaps you shouldn't go. They must have a history of infected videos or something. Sites where people share little videos, like you can find on some porn sites (youporn, porn tube...) may contain malware.

Hello Guys,

I find this to be quite embarrassing, having an issue like this that I can't figure out.

Here's what I can't do.

1. Ping DG (Default Gateway)
2. Ping my IP (96.46.29.108)
3. Can't access my router via remote, even though its setup to allow it.

What I can do.

1. Access any web page.
2. Ping any website but my own IP/DG.
3. Play games & use the internet like usual.

I've forwarded the ports I use, and allowed all the programs to roll through the Firewall without issues. I'm not sure if my ICMP was disabled on my router, my family currently shut down my computer, so I can't remote in, and work on it.

I installed TeamViewer because LogMeIn isn't going to accept any "Free" connections anymore, and will require a paid subscription. I've got an older version of RealVNC installed, but I couldn't remember my serial key.

Sincerely,
Thomas

A:Ping DG, ftp block/httpd block

Is this from a remote location or from within the local LAN of the router? If remote, when you mean Default Gateway, is that the remote router you are trying to access or the default gateway used to access the internet?

Have you checked that the public IP address is current? Unless you have paid for a static IP address it is very possible for a different one to be assigned via DHCP by the ISP.

Hello,

I've run into a ad/popup site, sandiego-tribune-news.com that seems to get around my hosts file. I've added it to my hosts site but it still loads (and causes annoyances), even after restarting etc. Anyone know what might be happening? This is the exact entry in my hosts file:

127.0.0.1 sandiego-tribune-news.com
Thanks in advance.

A:hosts file won't block site (sandiego-tribune-news.com)

Just a hunch but you might want to post in our Am I Infected forum and search for rootkitshttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/

The title says it all! Basically, I've been using AdFender (which I believe was recommended by this site) and it was working great. However, it seems that certain sites (like google and youtube) will only load as an https now, even if I'm logged out of the account. AdFender doesn't work on https sites, so now I'm bombarded with commercials and banner ads on videos: It's absolutely terrible!

So, can anyone either:
1. Recommend an adblocker that works on https sites?
2. Tell me how to run sites that default to https as an http?

Thanks for your time!

ADDITIONAL INFO: I forgot to mention that I am using Windows 8.1 and have had this problem on both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.

A:How to block ads on https sites OR make the site load as an http?

I don't know about AdFender. I've been using AdBlock for years and I think a lot of BC members use it.

Good evening everyone, I have experienced a few occasions over the past 3 days where MBAM Pro will display an OUTGOING block alert while viewing particular posts in an AV forum. (It does not display this alert on every topic post, just certain ones). The IP being shown is: 87.118.92.88. When checking the hosts-file(dot)net site, the RIPE database info shows the address is in Germany, but there doesn't appear to be any known malicious activity associated with this IP.As I understand it, when MBAM generates an OUTGOING block, it means some program on my computer is attempting to access the particular IP address. My question: Why would this be occuring only when I'm viewing certain posts in the aforementioned forum? Since there is no way for me to determine which program on my machine is attempting to access this supposedly malicious site...this is really puzzling to me. (And, yes...I have tried using TcpView, but it's a waste of time and shows nothing). All AV, MBAM, & SAS scans are clean.Any thoughts or ideas on the reason for this activity would be appreciated.Regards,

A:MBAM shows OUTGOING block when viewing a post on an AV forum site??

I've had the same thing happen here when people have added links, signature blocks, or images in a forum posts, profiles and post signatures that MBAM has decided is risky. Doesn't happen here very often, but it has a couple of times to me. It's all in how the link, or image is rendered on the forum.

Thats one explanation I can give. Maybe someone else has more information on other methods.

I hear blocking popups is not a good practice. I also hear blocking popups is not a bad idea. Which is it, which is correct? why or why not? Why do you block it or why you do not block popups?? thank you. YOYO.

A:To Block Or Not Block Popups

Popups are the leprosy of the internet.
I use Firefox, which blocks almost every one of them.

can region 7 (not selected) DVD player play region (1+2+3+4+5+6) DVD without region changed ?
in other words , does a ALL region DVD appear the same as region free DVDs to DVD players?
i used an old edition of DVD shrink to make some DVD movies before. but later i changed to AnyDVD with DVDclone. AnyDVD told me that the DVDs that were made with DVDshrink has region code locked to 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 instead of being region free. whilst those made with DVD clone, are recognized as region free.
i would like to ask if the DVD region of a DVD player has to be changed to one of the following: 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 when i put a DVD made with DVD shrink into it? given that the DVD player is a new one, not yet played any DVD, which should has a region code of 7 ( not selected). what will happen if i really put one of those DVD made with DVD shrink (with six regions allowed.) into my DVD player? would it just automatically change itself into 1? (because 1 is the smallest but i do not live in US or Canada!) i am so afraid that i do not dare putting the DVD to try it on my own in case it will waste the number of times i can change the region.
can anyone answer me?

I've had antispyware now for six months, no real problems. When I updated to 06 version, I get the blocking popup frequently and one everytime I start up, wherein it says change to the default user folders requires approval.

The change requested is my Documents and settings and seems to be asking for a change from my XP settings to my Earthlink settings for the same thing. My friend says just always block anything. I block it but it still comes up every time I start the computer. I have the total msg but thought I'd get any feedback in general on this. Thanks.

I'm retired from the US Army (1988) and fully retired since December 2005.

I have some computer skills, it depends on what friends I'm around. Sometimes I'm a geek times I'm just a PITA.

I found this forum by posting an "off topic" question on a wood workers forum.

My current question is about a week or so ago a "Cyber Link" icon appeared on my desktop and when I try to watch a DVD it takes me to the CL page to register and join. Since I have no idea where this came from and what it's all about I don't need more stuff on my computer.

Can I just uninstall all of the CL files without affecting anything else?

BTW. I apologize ahead of time, my assistance to anyone else will probably be minimal due to my ignorance.

A:New guy on the block

Once CyberLink has been uninstalled, Windows will default to the normal video player. It's fine to remove.

Hello all, my cd / dvd - rom, drive D:/ Has an error "bad block" how can i resolve the problem please, ta ,dai
WIN7 HOME 64 BIT

A:Bad Block?

A bad block is a damaged area of the disc which cannot be written to. You're presumably talking about a CD or DVD you're trying to burn? If that's the case, chuck it away and use another one. If on the other hand, you're trying to copy a CD/DVD to the hard disk, then do the following. Open Windows Explorer and then right click your C: drive and go to "Properties". Click the "Tools" tab and then in the top menu called "Error checking", click "Check Now". In the next menu which appears, checkmark both boxes and then click "Start". You'll get a message that the tool cannot run because the drive cannot be locked and whether you want to schedule a check on the next reboot. Click Yes and then reboot.Chkdsk will run and mark bad sectors a.k.a. "bad blocks", so that they can't be used. Be aware though that checking for bad sectors can take several hours, so only do this when you're not going to be using the PC for a while.

A:Allow or Block ?

I would block every program that you specifically know does not need the internet. For example, if you msn messenger or aim, and you get a warning, and you do use it, allow it out. If you see another program that is trying to go out, and you dont know about it, dont allow it.

Make sure you give the wuaclt.exe program access out as that checks for new updates or any other program that is accessing windowsupdate.com.

The other ones that are trying to connect or come inbound to port 137,138,139,445 are usually for file sharing. From your ip addresses I am assuming you have a router/firewall as well?

I found this great website which instructs you how to block IE 10. I had it installed and then my screen started to go black and then BSOD's. My games would not play. What you need to do is to remove the following Updates that were pushed the last Patch Tuesday. Now this is applicable to Windows 7SP1 and Windows Server 2008R2 SP1 . I have had no problems since I did this. The Updates are:

KB2670838
KB2729094
KB2731771
KB2533623
KB2786081

After you perform go to this website and follow the directions:

Download Toolkit to Disable Automatic Delivery of Internet Explorer 10 from Official Microsoft Download Center

This may help someone. I do not believe that IE 10 is ready for Windows 7.
