I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I was using my Yoga 3 with an external monitor over the micro HDMI port almost for a year. Never experienced a problem. Yesterday when I pluged the monitor it didn't recognized it. And the laptop's own screen was suppose to be HD resolution but it became 3200x1800 and it's not allowing you to change it. Tried to update the related drivers but they are already the latest. I'll be glad if someone can advise what to do..

Hello,
I have an inspiron 5755 with an AMD A8-7410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics. I am trying to connect my laptop to my external Dell U2211H monitor.
I was a support technician for moer than 8 years, so here's what I've done so far, along with general issue information.
I was able to get the external monitor to work with the laptop for all of a day with a DVI to HDMI adapter. However it took some wiggling to get it to work and when it stopped working I purchased a Display Port to HDMI adapter in case the DVI port was the issue, which still isn't working.
I have tested both adapters, and they both work fine. and I have tested the external monitor, which works fine.
The monitor recognizes that it is plugged into something, but it says it is not receiving a signal from the laptop.
I know the monitor is good, both adapters are good and the HDMI cable is good.
I've updated every driver I could find for the laptops current configuration (only thing Ive changed is more memory and an SSD Hard Drive, but it was working with both those in) and specifically for the R5 and this specific external monitor. I've also updated the BIOS to the latest "A15" version.
Id really like this up and running again, so I'm open to ideas!

Its not something as simple as 'detect display' as no display is detected and the display settings show only one monitor.

Greetings, I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 260 (Core i7, 8GB RAM, Win10 Pro 64bit, Machine Type 20FD) on October 18th 2016.When I connect it to my external monitor Dell U2713H, the screen periodically turns black respectively off and then back on after 1-2 seconds. The display works fine with my other Yoga 260 with the very same specifications. The problem occurs when connected via DisplayPort, but also via HDMI. I tried everything, installed BIOS update, all new drivers, reset the Yoga to Factory Settings and tried it all again.  Do you have any idea what to try next to fix this problem? thank you in advance

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd generation, 20JD. When I start the laptop being in a reversed V-shape position on my table (as shown below), connected to an external display via a digital cable (HDMI or Display port) and login into Windows 10, immediately a beeping sound starts from the system sounds of Windows 10 (see picture below). As soon as I fold the laptop to the closed position, the beeping stops. I can fold it back to its reversed V-shaped position and the beeping sound is still not to hear. However, if I reboot and login the beeping sound returns. Can you explain how I can login into windows without a beeping sound and without the need of changing my laptop's position? The problem occurs with or without the ultradock attached to it. It occurs with Displayport (via docking station or USB-C adapter) and with HDMI. It does not occur with VGA via USB-C adapter.

Hi,I have a Lenove Yoga Thinkpad 12 laptop from a few years ago. I want to geta UltraWide (21:9) external display, but I am not sure if this is supported by the laptop. The processor I have is Intel Core i5-5200U, and the onboard processor is theIntel HD Graphics 5500. The specific UltraWide Resolution I want to run is 2560 X 1080. In the information about this graphics card, which supports total pixel count above what I need (https://ark.intel.com/products/85212/Intel-Core-i5-5200U-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-2-70-GHz-). However, Intel told me that manufacturers sometimes puts limits on this, and that I need to ask Lenovo directly. I only have HDMI output, not DisplayPort. I read that HDMI 2.0 is required forUltraWide (not sure if that is correct?) and I can't find information on whetherthe HD 5500 support HDMI 2.0 or just 1.4. Will my laptop support an UltraWide external monitor @ 2560 x 1080?

Hi,Background on Issue I've had the Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd gen (product # 20JDCTO1WW; BIOS version N1NET46W 1.33) since it came out. It's running the latest build (non-targeted channel) of Windows 10 Pro with all Windows updates and all Lenovo System updates installed (through Lenovo Vantage app), as of this writing. The laptop has only professional/scientific software installed and it's strictly used in a work setting in a climate-controlled office (i.e. no exposure to extreme heat/cold, humidity, dust, etc.) (scientific/professional software like statistic analysis software, Office, browsing company websites and other non-entertainment professional sites, etc.) and there have been no system registry modifications, no 3rd party driver installation, or anything outside of the normal functioning of the system. Windows has never been re-installed/reset from the factory-shipped condition, and I haven't even accessed the BIOS for the first time since it was purchased. There's > 250GB free from the 1 TB SSD, and RAM utilization never reaches > 50% even on the heaviest of workloads. IssueUp to Win 10 OS build 1607 back in 2016-2017, everything was running well. After installing builds 1703 and then 1709, and still now after the 1809 update (updated a couple of months ago, but nothing changed with that update), when I connect the laptop to external monitors (either to one or two 27-inch, 60-Hz 2K monitors [AOC Q2781PQ] outputting at 2K resolution), either... I often need to connect my computer to external projectors and monitors.  Normally it works fine - the display automatically switches to extended desktop between the laptop's built-in display the external monitor or projector, but sometimes (about once a week at the moment), when I connect the projector or monitor to the HDMI port nothing happens, and the monitor doesn't show up in any of the display management software - Windows 10 Display Settings, or the Intel HD Graphics Properties or Graphics Options.  Restarting the computer doesn't help.   On four occasions I managed to fix the problem by reinstalling the Display Driver.  Part way through the installation process, the external display would simply start working again.  However, yesterday when it failed to recognize a projector, reinstalling the display driver didn't help. The problem has now happened with three different external displays:- A VGA digital projector connecting via a UGreen HDMI-VGA adaptor- A VGA display connecting via a (different) UGreen HDMI-VGA adaptor- An HDMI monitor connected via an HDMI cable (which subsequently worked) My display adaptor is an Intel(R) HD Graphics 520, and the driver I kept reinstalling was 1131206.inf - sp 74635 Any ideas?  I'm starting to suspect a hardware fault with the display adaptor.  Is there any way to run a diagnostic test on it?

Hey guys,

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I recently got a Dell monitor (custom PC), and at the same time as installing it I installed a new 550W power supply and did a repair install of windows.

Everything is in order except my video card and monitor are not recognized. I tried deleting and then reinstalling my videocard drivers (ATI Rage 128 Pro), but Catalyst 5.10 told me to install a standard VGA driver for my monitor first. I tried to find a driver off of Dell's website (though I'm aware that monitors don't really *have* drivers, I'm also aware that Dell is odd), but the only one I could find doesn't have install directions for XP.

Being the bold guy that I am, I tried to figure it out myself; desktop--properties--settings--advanced---driver yields: "VgaSave Display Controller" with no options to do anything (update...?) except "stop" and changing the startup option - its currently listed as system. Other attempts to install that driver manually worked out in similar fashion.

So then I turn to microsoft but where they tell me to right click on video adapter (step #2 under "Forcing Windows to Use the Standard VGA Mode Drivers Without Having to Use Safe Mode"), I can't see it in the first place.

I can give you guys more information if you need it, I can't think of anything else that'd be pertinent. Thanks again!

There should be an .inf for the monitor, If this moniter was reconized before.
Look in Winnt,system32, spool, drivers, color and see if there is a file there that matches you monitor mod no. When it asks for the driver point it there.

But it won't update my system. After clicking on System Update, I will get an error message saying "There is a problem in reteriving new updates for your system. Please try again later".Hence I downloaded all the drivers from support website and installed them manually but my docking station is still not working with the external monitors. The monitors works fine when connected directly to the laptop using the HDMI cable. Thanks in advance for your help.

My HP computer crashed and I bought a used Dell Optiplex GX620 Pentium D 3.00GHz. I tried to connect my HP monitor (vs15c LCD), and it doesn't recognize it. Do I have to get a Dell cord in order for it to work or is it something else? Since I can't use the monitor, I have no idea if the dell computer even works, just that it powers on. (I do know my monitor is working fine.)

Any suggestions?

A:Dell computer not recognizing HP monitor

Hi Hehoward, and welcome to TSG.

1) Do the computer's diagnostic lights show a normal boot up of the motherboard?
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx620/en/ug/A02/tools00.htm#wp1114558

2) When you say you know the monitor is working fine, do you mean that the same monitor and same VGA cord work OK on another computer?

3) If the answer to the first two questions is "Yes", with the monitor connected and turned on, try turning on the computer and tapping the F8 function key right away. This should display a low resolution Windows start selection. If you do get a display of the menu, then choose Safe Mode.

You should then be able to try different higher resolutions to see if one works on your display.

I have a Studio XPS 435T driving a U2913WM wide-format monitor (DVI cable) and it had been working perfectly at the 2560x1080 resolution for several years.  Then a few days ago I stepped out for a few hours leaving the computer on, and when I returned the display was changed to 1280x768 and everything looked horrible, all stretched out.  The 2560x1080 mode wasn't available as a display choice in the System menu any more!  I suppose windows update did something bad while I was out.
Anyway, I just now fixed it by following the suggestion I found in another thread in this forum, titled "Windows 10 stopped recognising second monitor" (November 23).  The display adapter is "ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series", and although the device manager says no driver is required, when I used the Device Manager to choose "Update Driver" --> "Browse my computer for driver software" --> "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer" ... lo and behold there were a number of drivers listed.  I selected the second-newest one, and the resolution problem was fixed.  Thanks guys!
There seemed to be three copies of the latest ATI Radeon driver 22.19.128.0 (dated 7/25/2017), so I chose the fourth one.(dated 1/13/2015).

Hi all, I have a Yoga 260 and two external monitors.  It does not seem to matter how I connect them, USB, HDMI, whatever the thing with a square on one end and USB on the other, directly or through a splicer I can not get the Yoga to recognize the third screen individually (yoga has one monitor, plus 2 external monitors = 3). I go to display settings but it just will not recognize the third monitor at all unless I use HDMI out of the laptop in to a splicer then 2 HDMIs out and in that case I only get duplicates on the two external screens. Any suggestions about the best way to set up... as in "it worked for me when I connected USB to one monitor, then daisy chained that to a second one" or "it worked for me when I HDMI to one screen and USB to a second" etc... Thank you

I have an IBM Thinkpad T40p. It has an ATI Mobility Fire GL 9000 and a built-in 1400x1050 display. I have it hooked up to an external monitor on a docking station. When the screen is set to 1400x1050, the image on the external monitor pans with the movement of the mouse. I know the monitor is capable of up to 1600x1200 and that is listed in one of the modes. I tried adding a 1400x1050 mode with an ini file and that didn't work. I might not have done it right or the hardware (or the driver) below the level of the ini file is actually reading the monitor and the monitor is reporting back it's modes. Those modes include 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 but not 1400x1050. So it decides to pan the 1400x1040 image on the monitor in 1280x1024 mode.

Is there a way to turn this panning off? Will the monitor actually display a 1400x1050 image?

A:How to turn off pan on external monitor on IBM Thinkpad?

Very few standard monitors will display anything between 1280 and 1600. Maybe one of the newer widescreen TFT's will do it.

Your best bet is probably to change your screensettings to something your external monitor can display when using it.

I just received my brand knew P72 thinkpad laptop and I hooked up my existing external monitor to it so I can work with 2 screens.  I am having tons of issues with it.  Any software that I display on the external monitor runs slower and definitly lags when opening new files.  Other issues I have is that when I drag any software to that screen it looks massive and then takes a moment to adjust.  Sometimes after I drag the software to the other screen, certain portions of the software gets blacked out.  And the most annoying issue of all is that, when I go to move my mouse to the external monitor, I have to hit just the right spot at the edge of the laptop screen for it to pass through to the external monitor. Now I had our IT company look into this and they are telling me the problem is that the screen on my laptop is 4k but the the external monitor is not and that is the problem.  So if I want to have another monitor without these issues, I must buy a 4k monitor.  Is this true?  I read the user manual and it said nothing about it MUST BE 4K. I am posting here because I am hoping someone can help me fix this without buying a new monitor.  Or if I do need a new monitor, I am hoping someone can confirm what I need to buy and if it needs to be 4K or not.  If I have to buy a new one I am hoping to buy a 34" Ultra Wide Monitor from LG.  A LG34wk500 I don't know much about computers so take it easy on me if the is... My Thinkpad Yoga 15 has a problem, which may or may not be related to the BIOS update recently performed. When booting, the bootup screen only appears on an external monitor via the HDMI output. When performing the hardware tests in the BIOS, tests are done on the HDMI-connected display, the internal display does not seem to be recognized. I verified this using both Linux and Windows. It does not seem to be a hardware failure; I have been able to get the display on the internal LCD a few times, by powering down the laptop, holding the power button for about 20 seconds, then powering back on while pressing F1. The laptop will then function for a while, but loses its display after coming out of sleep. Needless to say, this is unworkable. Does anyone have any tips on how this could be fixed in a more permanent fashion or any indication to cause? BIOS does not allow me to turn off NVIDIA, or its opposite, to enable it exclusively. I also tried different drivers, from both Lenovo as well as NVIDIA and Intel, but to no avail. Any pointers appreciated.
