Computer Restarts when Video Stops Loading/ Flash Player Crashes

Q: Computer Restarts when Video Stops Loading/ Flash Player Crashes

So, my computer is about 2.5 years old and I have been facing massive problems with flashplayer.

The issue is this: Whenever I run videos with my favorite drama's, the video player would then stop loading cause the whole screen to freeze whilst still being able to move my mouse. Then the computer would turn black and restart and tells me that I need to insert a new boot device or boot media in order to boot up my computer. So What is the problem here? I have downgraded flash player beta 12.0 to 11.9 and I have defrag my computer. Usually, mozilla firefox would tell me, the shockwave flashplayer plugin has crashed and allows me to refresh, but it has become so alarmingly frequent that every other video I view would result in me needing to Hard reset my computer by turning off the sockets.

Continued usage would cause me to freeze every half an hour of usage even after resetting. The question is am i overheating, something too? It all started when other programs im running concurrently with the video stopped responding and my computer keeps freezing before it restarts itself. I was running flash games that were downloaded.

How do I fix this?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

first of all id try a non Beta version of flash. make sure its the x64 bit version and not the 32bit. For some unknown reason the automatic flash update always downloads the 32bit version for me..
Next id update all of you drivers (most important GPU and chipset) this will eliminate any driver conflicts that may pop up.

Just recently after I did a fresh OS install on my old laptop, YouTube started acting up.

Every video that uses flash has no sound and will play for one second, rewind to 0:00 for three times in an attempt to start playing again and then an error will come up.

I have 64 bit OS - Windows 7, 32bit Firefox (newest) and newest version of Adobe Flash Player.

I tried clearing my browser's cache, disabling addons, restarting firefox, restarting my laptop, re-installing flash player, using another browser (Opera) searching the forums and I'm here now.

Any help would be great :3 thanks.

I have stopped clicking ok on that one. Now this problem can happen once then not again for a week or more then like today 6 times in an hour. Can someone tell me what could be wrong? Would it be the video controller or worse case scenario will I need a new computer?

Hello.

I've been running Windows XP and the latest version of flash on this computer for as long as I can remember. The only thing is, about a year ago my computer tended to restart itself when I tried to load a large flash/shockwave file on both IE and FF. Some websites cannot cause it to crash at all, Youtube, for instance, but other websites like GameTrailers cause the problem in hand.

I've tried installing and reinstalling them many times, but the problem persists to this day.

If anyone could help me to resolve this, I would be monumentally grateful.

Thanks,
Alex.

A:Shockwave/Flash Player crashes computer

uninstall it.

Use this tool to do so:

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe

Now, use your browsers for a while (I know it'll be tough without flash but make it so) are you still getting crashes? If so, go to Event viewer and review any errors. Paste the details here for more info.

Good luck.

Starting about two weeks ago, I have had a real problem with my Windows Media Player. When I try to open a video file (.asf, .avi., mpg., .wmv, etc.) the Windows Media Player opens with the "Opening..." status, but the video never plays. When I click STOP, the status changes to "Aborting...", but it never finishes stopping. Then if I try to close the window, I get the computer beep and the window cannot be closed. When I try CTRL+ALT+DEL End Task, it doesn't close the Windows Media Player and my computer freezes. If I try CTRL+ALT+DEL again, I get the blue screen "System is busy" message and my computer is frozen, forcing a restart.

This also happens with Streaming Windows media. Also, when I try to open a Quicktime .mov file, the Quicktime player does not open leading me to wonder if it has anything to do with video processing. I can't get any video to work on my computer now.

Does this have to do with codecs, my video card, or something else? Does this sound familiar? Has this happened to anyone else? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am running Windows 98 on an HP Pavilion 6535. I am currently using an upgraded version (6.4.8.2) of the preinstalled Windows Media Player (6.4). Everything was running fine before and I have no knowledge of what could have caused it.

I recently (yesterday) ran Spybot S&D to get rid of some spyware, but nothing new came up and I have run Spybot plenty of times before without incident.

Windows Xp crashs during windows loading screen and reboots. Displays a blue screen with no errors on it only the stop information, 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xBA52F380, 0xBA52f07c,0x8AD5980F). This blue screen stays up for less than a second, needed to video record it to get the numbers. Windows doesn't load in normal mode, or any of the safe modes. I have tried chkdsk /r and /p. Bootcfg /scan fails, and /rebuild also fails. I have also cleared Cmos on my motherboard, which didn't work either. I also tested the ram, tried booting with 1 of 3 sticks in 3 times rotating the sticks, I wouldn't think all 3 would fail at the same time. The HD does show serial numbers tho and appears to be working. This all started when i was running a virus scanner, it crashed, and the problems started. Any help is appreciated, I have yet to try fixmbr, and a repair install. The fixmbr says it could cause a problem with the HD, that is the reason I haven't tried it yet. Any suggestions or help is appreciated. Thanks

As the site is owned by Viacom/MTV, my guess is that it is DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected and videos can't be downloaded. I normally use Real Player when I need to download embedded videos but I don't think it will work and I'm not aware of a free product that will download DRM protected videos.

Whenever I try to play a streaming movie from any website, it loads very, very slow.
- Sometimes it runs for like 30sec then it stops in the middle of the streaming and start buffering.
- Sometimes the movie won't start at all and just buffering forever
- Sometimes when the movie is buffering and I let it buffer for like 15 - 30min(!) it starts out of nowhere and keeps running.
- Sometimes when a movie fails to load in Firefox, I try it in Explorer and it works sometimes. But not all the time. Most of the time it is the same.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall Flash Player, but it doesn't make a difference.
I also tried to stream videos with my firewall completely turned off. Didn't help

Do anyone have any idea what is going on? How can I fix it? It is very frustrating not to be able to watch the full length of a movie clip anymore... :-(

Lets start of by disabling ALL 3.

Then enable ONE

If it doesnt freeze, disable the one that is Enabled and Enabled another one

And so on until you find the one that does freeze

Hi,
First I just want to say what a great job you guys are doing here. This forum really looks helpful and I hope you guys can help me out.

I seem to have so many problems with my desktop (Windows XP Professional OS) but I want to point out the worst ones!

One big problem is with my Flash player. For some reason everytime I hit a site that requires the flash player, the windows explorer will crash within minutes of viewing that site. It rarely opens for more than 3-5 minutes. I have tried re-installing flash player a couple of times but the problem still persists.

Another big problem I have is with my windows media player. Everytime I stream a some kind of movie file off a site, either the media player will crash within a couple of minutes or the entire computer will shut off. When I restart my computer it says there was a "critical error" and when I click on why this happens it always tells me that one of my devices has a problem (but it can never locate which device).

Lastly, when I boot my computer after turning it off for a couple of hours, the computer fails to load XP on its first time. It will spontaneously restart by itself at least 4-5 times before reaching the XP screen. I have no idea why this happens.

So in conclusion, I think my problem is either one of these. One, I have a broken graphics card. Two, my RAM is shot. Or three, my hard drive is screwed up.

Please let me know how I can either diagnose if a device is broken or diagnose if the probl... Read more

Hi all,

I'm having an issue with my flash player - although I usually use Firefox, it also happens in IE and Chrome. Whenever a flash object starts, the browser crashes, and I have to either wiat about 50 seconds for it to tell me, or just kill the process in task manager.

The only remedy is to uninstall flash and the plugin, and then reinstall a slightly older version (I usually use the most up to date one, as are all my other drivers). However, this only works until next time I switch the computer on - then the problem recurs.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on? It's pretty frustrating, as it means pop-ups often crash my browser, and I can't really find any solutions, as it's not specific to any one browser. I've had other issues with this laptop (integrated webcam, laptop feeling laggy) and this just makes me think it's a "sick" computer.

Any ideas? All help much appreciated.

Matt

I can run media players. They play FLACs and mp3s fine. But if I try to open any video file - be it avi, mpg, mkv, midi (I know, not a video format) - 'ZZZ has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution.'

VLC is my main squeeze. Crashes.
Uninstall, reinstall. VLC still crashes.
New version install. Crashes.
Nightly build. Crashes.
So maybe it's VLC?
Windows Media Player. Crashes.
Media Monkey. Crashes.
QuickTime Player. Crashes.
Update Windows. Update drivers. Update virus/malware scanner. Run virus/malware scan.
Everything still crashes. Every video file. Every player. Every video format. Only video files.

Haven't downloaded or installed anything new in weeks. Was running lots of video, all day, every day, for months. Literally opened one file and it ran, opened the next file in the folder, it crashed, and no video has worked in any player since.

This is a problem I've been having for over a year, and still have not found a fix to. What happens is that when I play any Youtube video, the video plays for like a split second, then Youtube starts to automatically change the quality lower and lower, each time it changes the quality the video restarts, and when it's down the the lowest quality the whole Flash player crashes.
I have read about this issue on Adobe's community where many tips have been suggested such as reinstalling the flash player, turning hardware acceleration off, among other things. I don't believe I have ever seen anyone saying that performing these tips have helped stopping this problem, I have not been successful with it either.
I don't know if this problem is isolated to Windows 7 or not, because I do have a Windowd Vista computer where I don't have the problem, but on all other three computers (all Windows 7) i have the same problem.

A:Flash player crashes when viewing Youtube

Hello, just so we are clear about this, the issue occurs when you play Youtube videos with any of the three major browsers? (IE; Firefox; Chrome)
What about videos hosted on other sites? (Dailymotion, Vevo, Hulu, etc?)

Hey guys, How are you? I have a client that is running xp pro with 1.79 hz processor speed and 3.8 gig of ram. THE ONLY thing she uses this comp for is FACEBOOK; more importantly FARMVILLE. I have tweaked this thing according to zynga and it will not load at all, take it back to default google settings and it works better; have stripped the comp of any programs that she does not use, clean the caches and all the regular stuff. Of course finances are bad for her; so I do this for free. I have never taken the "bleeping comp" approach and would like to submit this for answers. I have been very impressed with this site and hope that someone will take me under their wing and solve this.
By the way, the error message is flash player has stop working/ reload or quit. If you let it set a minute, it will continue, slowly loading. If she switches farms (farmville is foreign to me) then the flash player will freeze, a funny puzzle piece comes up with a frown and says that flash has failed, must restart. Close the browser and reopen and it will slowly load.
Thanks in advance,
Ben

Try with this settings:

You can do same with right click on any flash content and click on Settings then Disable hardware acceleration

Hi!
So, I've been having this problem for a few months now, I initially gave up and hardly touched my computer for a couple of months but now I need it again so I'm here!
The problem started when my computer started to freeze randomly, it would lock up, the sound would just buzz and it would become completely unusable. No BSOD or anything like that, just a frozen screen. I then realised this was always only happening when I was watching a video online that was using flash player? I have no problem watching YouTube HTML-5 videos and Netflix is fine too (I'm not sure if that's flash or not?). Anything I go on using flash player video will last about 1 minute and then it will freeze forcing me to reboot.
I tried everything from completely removing flash and installing older versions, changing to Windows 10 then back to 8, made sure my drivers were up to date, everything I could think of. I'm experienced with computer software and competent with hardware but here I really am stumped. The ONLY time I have problems is when flash player is involved, I can play games, Photoshop etc. forever with no problems at all, but if I try to watch one minute of a video, it's gone.
Having come back to it to try and fix it again I am convinced it must be a hardware problem. On startup I have a 'memory configuration mismatch, press F1 to continue or F2 for setup' message. Could this be related to my problem?
Here are my specs (just let me know if you need any other information) -

ot the latest versions of flash player plugin and latest Firefox installed on a Windows 7 32-bit system.

After running the browser for awhile the flash player crashes in Firefox. I have tried uninstalling/installing Flash player and Firefox. I also tried installing older version of Flash player. Nothing seems to work. Flash works fine in Chrome and IE.

A:Adobe Flash Player crashes in Firefox!!!!

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these: disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

problem is theres no 64-bit version of adobe flash player. so I started using the 32-bit version of IE so I can use flash. every now and then it says "internet explorer has stopped working" ect.. says its checking for a solution to the problem and no solution exists of course

so anyway its prolly because its the 32-bit version and they didnt bother testing it enough on the 64 bit OS.

anyone else experiencing this?

A:no 64bit flash player, 32bit IE crashes...

Hello Scott,

The 64-bit Windows 7 comes with a 32-bit and 64-bit IE8, with the 32-bit IE8 as the default one to be used. It's hard to say without seeing the entire error code details, but when you get this error it's usually caused by a bad IE add-on that was installed, or a noncompatible outdated website. You might see if resetting Internet Explorer back to default may help.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

After somemore searching, I found a fix that is particular to the Sony laptops. Apparently, this is a known issue with Bluetooth technology and such. Link is here:

The post you are looking for is from noIQ

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, so please move it if necessary.

While trying to use my webcam with Flash (using the stickam website) my browser is crashing. I have tried this on Firefox3 (newest version) and Internet Explorer (newest version) - both browsers crash. My built-in Motion Eye webcam is working correctly with other programs (Skype, MSN). So, this leads me to believe Vista and Flash are clashing.

I emailed support from the stickam website, and there suggestion was this:
"Please delete your cookies and clear the cache in your browser tools, also go here and delete all sites http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager06.html"
After trying this on both browsers several times, it still does not work. I tried reinstalling Flash, but that did not work either.

I have Flash Player 10, Windows Vista Home, Sony Vaio CS.

Thanks for any advice.

Hey guys i tend to have quite a few problems with adobe flash player crashing on firefox, meanign i cant watch videos unless i reset the browser a few times.

Should i have auto updates on or just the notify me when new updates are available option? Do both options open up web browsers or does automatic just install in the background with no warning (no installation is complete message, things like that)

A:Adobe auto updates and flash player crashes

Try to right click the video click Settings and in the display tab untick "Enable hardware acceleration" and see if that helps. Personally I choose to be notified of an update and before installing check online to see if there are any reported problems

I just installed windows 7 today, and I just find out that the flash-related application - you tube and Facebook flash game crashes whenever I tried to launch them.

I had followed the instructions in adobe, uninstall and reinstall adobe player 10, but it doesn't solve the problem...

Also, I tried IE 8, and google chrome, and both of them are facing the same problem.

I think the problem lies in Microsoft or Adobe itself because I didn't experience the problem in Windows 7 RC.

Just when I wanna give a thumbs up to 7, problem comes

hi! i have a weird problem. my wireless card (trendnet tew-423pi) drops signal and then stops connecting at all when i start running games or video. i have windows xp, and i have turned off the energy saving option. also the card wouldn't have worked without its own driver or utility. i am using the open wireless line of the condominium and there are no interferences with the signal. (its on the maximum signal strength).
the weird thing is its not loosing the signal immediately. i watch on the download from web. 200 kb/s (Mozilla) and then i turned on divix player. few seconds later the download speed started to drop down, within a minute it was at 0, and then the package data just stopped arriving.
with games its even worse: once it starts running, my connection drops, and utility starts to acquire ip address...
have no idea which device or software is causing this problem. any suggestions? solutions? advises? :-D

A week or two ago, my Gigabyte GTS 450 died, and I bought a new EVGA GTX 650 from newegg. When I switched video cards, I also updated the drivers from 306.97 to 310.90. Ever since installing the new video card, I've been getting intermittent "crashes"; usually while browsing reddit or some other mundane activity. I put crashes in quotes as I'm not getting any error codes, my machine -which had been extremely stable previous to this- simply shuts down. It's as if someone had flipped the power switch; leaving nothing in the event log except an entry marking an unexpected shutdown.

It's odd to me that this occurs only while the GPU is NOT under load. I can play LoL just fine, and even newer more taxing games like Diablo 3 or Borderlands 2. The main correlation I've found with the crashes is when I'm downloading something; sometimes an image on imgur or buffering a youtube video. Normal net traffic such as chatting on mumble with friends or watching a video stream don't seem to trigger a crash. I've found I can pretty consistently cause a crash by attempting to download a game from Steam. I'm unsure how these types of net traffic differ such that one causes a crash and another doesn't.

However these crashes don't happen in safe mode, or if I disable my video card drivers. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the video drivers or perhaps some other system component. I'm assuming it's the video dri... Read more

On my server pc it'll crash randomly while playing flash based videos via the web. The crash always takes a while to happen , but eventually leads to he system stop responding with the sound looping the last milisecond it was at. It happens somtimes immediatly or after a while.

I've tried display drivers , browser and flash updates , different browsers , still does it. The only remedy that actually works is if I have the display properties window open in the background , then it doesn't crash , weird.

I think it may have to do with the systems cpu which is always above 50c even idle due to the heatsink not sitting on it right.

A:flash video crashes

Well, first thing is to apply new thermal paste and re-seat the heatsink so that it is working properly and cooling your system down. Then try reducing the resolution of your screen when playing videos. If that works, update the video driver.

Actually it could be any number of things. Is there any error messages displayed?

How far thru the boot up does it get before rebooting?

Does it stop and make you manually reboot?

Actually if you could give a little bit more detailed description it would help us help you better and easier.
