Preferred Solution: Computer Freezing. please help.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I recently built my first PC three days ago...
Specs:
i7 bloomfield 960 processor
4x4 vengeance ram
crosair hx850 PSU
evga x58 ftw3 mobo
hd 6870 radeon graphics xfx

When I first installed windows it started to work just fine but I soon noticed that it would randomly freeze every 15-30 minutes of use, but not on a particular program or anything. I assumed it was drivers so I installed the latest drivers for my GPU and MOBO and keyboard. It seemed fine again until it started crashing again. I ran a GPU burn test and a CPU burn test it passed both... (I tried runing memtest86+ but it froze at like 12%) Then I tried fixing the registry so I downloaded ccleaner and fixed the registry problems. Freezes continued. I finally decided to re install windows so I did and the problems still continued. I am at a loss of what to do and can't think of anything else.

any advice would be appreciated if not I will bring to a repair shop and have them sort it out.

A:Newly built computer random freezing and freezing on starting windows

Hello Skytri and welcome to Seven Forums. My usual disclaimer: I'm not at expert at anything.

I'm wondering if there isn't a RAM problem. Perhaps one of the sticks wasn't seated properly, etc. You could open Resource Monitor > Memory tab and make sure all RAM is being recognized. Make sure Installed = 16384MB and the Available + Cached + Hardware Reserved is the same amount. (You are using 16GB total, correct?)

Resource Monitor

If Memtest freezes you could try a quick check for a bad RAM module. Install one stick in Slot # 1 (or whichever slot the mobo manual says to use.) Run the computer to test for freezes. Test each of the remaining sticks one at a time. If all 4 sticks work you might want to go through these troubleshooting guides. They are time consuming but many people have been able to isolate their computer problems.

Hello,

I'm going to post two different scenarios that happens when my computer needs a hard restart
My computer freezes completely (literally no movement on the screen or anything, it's not slow it's frozen). And an extremely loud buzzing sound comes out of my headphones or speakers. The same thing as above except without the loud buzzing noise.

I saw that this happened to someone else who had both the speakers and the headphones plugged in at the same time. However, scenario #2 just happened to me 10 minutes ago even though I only had my headphones plugged in.

I built this computer six months ago and it's the first computer I've ever built. I assume it's a driver issue but I can't really pinpoint the problem since no BSOD appears on the screen and I have no higher computer knowledge.

I'm attaching the zip file required.

Thanks,

A:Random Computer Freezing - Need to hard restart after freezing No BSOD

Wow, this sounds like the same thing that happened to a friend of mine when his hard drive was failing. Replaced the drive and the freezes went away. Even the buzzing noise.

Also you may need to look at what drivers you may have just install/updated.

Hoping you don't have any failing hardware "Motherboard, video card, etc". Those are expensive

A:Computer Freezing; Slowing Down. But mostly freezing. I have my HiJackThis! Log File.

I don't see anything in your log or your description of your problem to come to the conclusion that your problem is malware related. When there is malware present there will always be other internet related symptoms like popups or a browser hijack etc...

I will advise you to uninstall Microsoft Anti-Spyware as the version you have is very old and no longer supported. It in now called Windows Defender.

Here are some routine maintenance practices that you should do on a regular basis to keep your machine running efficiently. Go through this now and see if it helps:

Disk Cleanup:

http://www.theeldergeek.com/disk_cleanup_utility.htm

Defrag your HD:

http://artsweb.bham.ac.uk/artsit/Info/Guides/GoodPractice/defrag-win2kxp.htm

Run chkdsk:

To use Chkdsk, click Start and My Computer. Right-click the hard drive you want to check, and click Properties. Select the Tools tab and click Check Now. Check both boxes. Click Start. You'll get a message that the computer must be rebooted to run a complete check. Click Yes and reboot. Chkdsk will take awhile, so run it when you don't need to use the computer for something else.

Remove unnecessary startups

This should be done through the System Configuration Utility. Go to Start > Run and type in msconfig.
Click OK or hit the Enter key.

Click on the "Startup" tab and remove the check by the items that you have determined are unnecessary. Click "Apply" then "Close"

You will be prompted to ... Read more

Hello, I'm having an issue with my computer.

My computer has started to restart/freeze up on me. The thing is, it has graphical issues once it freezes/tries to reboot. I get all these lines through the screen, graphical glitches when trying to go through the BIOS, etc. The computer isn't too slow, it isn't acting strange, the only thing that is wrong is the obvious freezing/restarting with graphical lines and glitches once it freezes.

My video card has been going out for a long time(I share a computer with a few people and they seem to think the video card is ok, but I have always seen small glitches in graphics here and there), so I am thinking maybe this might be a problem, given the graphical glitches, the horizontal lines going through the screen once it freezes.

When it hits the BIOS, it sometimes shows these same lines with the screen going mostly black.

System specs are:

CPU - Core 2 Duo, speed I don't remember.

Video Card - Geforce 7900 GT 512mb

Ram - 2GB DDR2

Motherboard - Asus, P5N-E SLI

I got this computer a few years back and I am not one to keep updated with specs or talk about them often, so I have forgotten the speed of the CPU and I do not know if I am missing information for you guys.

Solutions I have tried:

Overheating - I used air to filter out all dust/dirt that might be there to harm the computer, I have plenty of fans in there, etc.

Any and all help will be appreciated, Thank you.

A:Solved: Computer Freezing/freezing/graphical glitchs

If you're getting graphical 'glitches' while in bios, that's usually a good sign that your graphics card is having issues - however, I have seen this happen with faulty ram. I'd recommend reseating the cards (ensure your computer is off and unplugged whilst doing so) and see if that helps

I don't know what else to say other than my computer has been freezing and firefox has been freezing lately. I called the manufacturer and he said to restore windows to factory settings, so I did that. Things were great for a week or so, but recently my computer has begun freezing again. It happens pretty frequently. Firefox will also freeze when trying to get it to do very little work, like loading two tabs simultaneously, e.g. My AVS found a suspicious file recently and quarantined it, but still, the freezing has continued. Please advise.

And I do not think that I have a Boot CD

Had the day from hell with my computer, antivirus stopped working and my computer got infected. On safe mode with networking, I ran malwarebyte a couple times, cleaned most all of it out. When rebooting to windows, computer became super slow, like 5 minutes to open a window, etc. I had to force reboot a few times. But then I started getting a screen that demanded a reboot disk. Only one I have is. a windows vista disc. I had windows 7. It won't let me even get that blue startup screen where I can push f keys.
Can anyone give me some advice, or do I need to just get a new hard drive.

The problem isn't the hard drive, it's that you are still infected.

I have a HP Pavillion dv9417ca Notebook PC with AMD Turion 64X2 Mobile Technology Tl-56, 2.0G Ram, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 with Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP2.

The computer when running slowly makes a ton of noise starting up and running and tends to use more processing. The computer sometimes makes weird noises that aren't normal windows sounds and come from error's. Like intense beeping noises ocassionally. Firefox especially is insanely slow and the longer I run it the more processing power it uses up along with the plugins.exe. Sometimes it will uses so much that it completely freezes my computer. Lately I've also been having trouble starting the computer where it won't even load windows.

I've ran Ccleaner daily and Malwarebytes weekly and find nothing and the problem has been getting progressively worse. I have Avast which updates daily.

Recently(about 2 weeks ago), my computer started freezing. It happened 5 times already(one of them occurred as I was typing this post). I wasn't doing anything in particular, just using Firefox to browser the web.

3 of the freezings occurred while I was just browsing, 2 occurred while my computer was starting up. No sites in general either, out of the 3 times I froze, I was on different sites each time(all of them are "known safe ones" too like ign.com, wikipedia, etc).

After the latest freeze(during browsing), I restarted my computer only for my computer to freeze again after 3 seconds(screen stayed the same, it happened right after it showed me my memory test). Then I restarted my computer again and it froze before anything showed up(monitor did not detect anything so the monitor did not show anything).
Here's what I have done so far:

1. I used memtest86 and done 3 full tests, no errors on any tests.

2. Did anti-virus and anti-spyware scan on my computer(I used: Avast, Spybot, Adaware).

3. Checked Windows Event Viewer(unfortunately it didn't log anything).

Here's the last things I did to my computer before I noticed the freezings:
1. I downloaded and installed Secunia PSI.

2. I downloaded and installed the latest version of WinRAR and Quicktime player(recommendations from Secunia).

3. I also installed various security patches from microsoft update.

Besides that, nothing in particular.

Now, its slower then my older computer, which I thought was impossible. I mean...This is pathetic. I unistalled AVG cause there was a process running that is supposed to be a Trojan, and a program said AVG was running it. So, I deleted it, was prompted to restart, so I did. It took literally 10 minutes to shut down and restart. At worst, my old computer took 5 minutes. (P4 2.8, 1.5 gigs ram, ATI Radeon 9800). So, how do I fix this? I have a theory its Microsoft forcing people to upgrade by putting out crappy updates. I mean, for my card, the newest driver is dated the beginning of last year...They come out with a new one but its Vista only. Woo...idiots. So basically it started about 3 days ago, aprox. 4 days after this computer was built. I was playing Battlefield 1942, it froze. I tried 5 times, it froze in different spots at different times. I reinstalled. Same thing. Oblivion goes for about 30 minutes then crashes to the desktop. I then hit the window to maximize again, and it freezes. This has happened everytime as well. I also did older games, same thing, but done differently. Battlefield was the only one that froze the entire computer to where i had to manually shut it off. Then today I randomly check my processes, and theres 2 runn... Read more

The first thing which strikes me is that you have 2 anti-virus applications on your computer ( Zone Alarm security suite and AVG Free) Having two anti virus applications running on your PC can give conflicts so I suggest you uninstall one.For the antispyware applications do you have all real time protection enabled?..I first would try Microsoft online test and see what comes up. The freezing can also indicate faulty memory, there for run a Memtest to rule that out.

My laptop is a Gateway 450 ROG and it has had this problem for the last week. It will run for roughly 40 minutes, and then (even when small programs are running) it will freeze up. My mouse wont move, no command will respond and i am forced to hold the power button and shut it off.
2nd Problem, occasionally when i turn on the computer it wont boot up. The screen will turn on and stop with a dash blinking in the top left corner, not proceeding to any boot up of any kind, and just recently while i shut it down from this sort of freezing up, little pictures of pixel hearts and dots started appearing until i shut it off. This problem has gone on since i bought this computer from my brother but the pictures havent until this last week .

I think its something wrong with my computer (but no sure the problem) or it might be something wrong with the graphic card. I can telll the difference between lag of a game and the game just freezing up for no apparent reason.

If you need me to say what kind of computer i have or what graphic card i currently have, please say so.

If there is a program that i need to download to help fix this problem, i trust you guys seeing as you know more than i do.

Hello everyone - I am a new member of the forum and hope that someone reading this might be able to help me with a problem I have with my computer.

In recent weeks the computer screen keeps freezing with the cursor being replaced by the hour glass symbol. This usually happens after several hours' computer usage - but sometimes it occurs soon after the computer is turned on.

When this happens, I am unable to log off; the computer on/off button does not work when the screen freezes and I have to turn the computer off at the mains.

In order to be able to log back into my broadband internet connection I have to turn the computer and and off twice and then on again .

Sometimes when the computer screen image freezes a message box appears always saying "End programme" (i.e. "End programme - CiceroUIWndFrame" or "End programme - mixer").

My computer runs on the Windows XP operating system.

I changed from Internet Explorer browser 6 to 7 yesterday but the problem of the computer screen freezing persists.

Any helpful advice on this would be much appreciated.

How old is your computer? Have you ever reinstalled your OS?

What I usually recommend is if your computer is at least a couple of years old and have yet to do a clean install of your Operating System now is the time, especially when it starts acting up =)

SO for the last couple of weeks I have an issue with my computer freezing. I noticed my computer first freezing when I upgraded my case to a Antec 1200 case. I thought that this was possibly a psu issue so I went out and bought a $110 BFG 650 watt psu. However the issue continues. Every once in a while my computer will freeze while in my Vista hdd and same issue in my Xp hdd. So what is the deal? I have four hdd's connected ( 2 sata and 2 pata) my computer specs are:

Amd 6000+x2, 3 gig dd2 dual channel ram, 8800 gts, 650 watt psu, and antec 1200 case. My CPU doesn't seem to be over heating the only thing I can think of is that the cpu is twigging out? and I don't think four hdd's would cause the power issue?

A:Computer Freezing

2 places to check (in both OS's)
- Event Viewer Look for events in the System and the Application log files around the time of the freeze
- Task Manager...Processes tab Ensure you've selected the option to show processes from all users. Also, in the View menu, select, Select columns and place a checkmark in the I/O Reads and the I/O Other colums. Drag the borders of Task Manager out so you can view all the columns. Then wait for the freeze and see what image name is taking up the most CPU, Memory or I/O Reads or Other.

Ok, my computer is fairly new, about 2 1/2 weeks old. And past week or so, I been experiencing random and sudden freezing. The first time it happened was when I was playing BF2. Another time when it happened was when I was browsing the web and listen to iTunes. So far, my computer froze about 6 times. I know it froze because there is a repeating sound of either my game or the songs. And also the Num Lock light won't turn off or on. Also pressing ALT+CTRL+Delete does not respond.

It's like any sudden movement will freeze my computer.

My computer is HP m8430f. Specs are

Quad 6600
4MB Ram
Windows Vista SP1 64 bits

I'd suggest checking your Event Viewer for errors around the time that the freezes occurred. Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter.

Click on the Windows Logs and check both the Application and System log files and let us know the details of the errors that you locate.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Where did you get that info?

If it is accurate, then I suspect you may have a psu problem.

What psu do you have? Make and wattage please.

Look at this PSU Wattage calculator. Add a further 30% to whatever figure it gives you, as a safety margin.

Hello,
I hope someone can help me with this. My computer freezes up randomly on me. It could happen immediately after start up or 4-5 hours after start up. When it happens I have to manually shut down by holding the power button down till it shuts off. I have restored and that helped for a day or two and then my husband reinstalled the operating system and that seemed to help for about a week then I went out and bought system mechanic and once I ran it and "fixed" all the problems it was great for 2 days and now it's doing it again. I have run a virus scan and it came up clean but I don't know if it looked for "everything" you know how there is always something new out there. It is a Dell Inspiron 1525 and I'm using what ever version of vista that came with the computer. lol

Anyway any help would be great as I use my computer for 8-10 hours every day. Thanks so much
Jennifer

Hi, after visiting a particular tattoo website my computer began to slow down and eventually freeze up. I keep getting error messages saying that my virtual memory is too low... sometimes I cannot even shut the computer down by way of the start menu. When I go to it, it's missing that choice. Once I'm up and going, the computer runs ok, but if I allow the computer to sit and the screen saver come on, if i come back to it after a long period of inactivity, the computer does not respond.
I have run spybot and malware programs and also used Hijack this. They show problems but im afraid to clean/delete the infected files. HEEELP! PLEASE!

Hello.

=]

Recently A computer I build has been freezing.

It generally runs fine. No lag, or other issues. Video and audio work fine.

It's basically a 1.33 ghz amd athlon processor (I know. old as hell. but remember I built this using spare parts) 1 gig of ram and a 128 geforce videocard. The machine is running xp and i'm on it right now and it runs fine.

However; and seemingly randomly; the computer complete freezes. Not lags, or slows down, it completely freezes state and you'll be forced to start. There is no recognition of this in my program or security logs.

This has given my suspicion of lack of memory, which is why I upgraded from 512 to 1 gig recently. However disapointingly the freezes still occur.

The freezes appear to only happen after expended use of IDLING. I can be playing a videogame and it won't freeze. However if I allow the computer to idle overnight i'll wake up with it frozen.

There is one minor issue I have noticed and that is the fan of the videocard has broken. I was curious if you think the broken fan may be the cause of this? (the videocard gets relatively hot to the touch. But if this were the case why would it freeze seemingly randomly & during idle. Basically; would an overheating card *Really* cause the computer to freeze randomly?)

Do you think the problem is more likely related to driver / hardware malfunction?

Any additional information prior to formatting and reinstalling all drivers would be appreciated.... Read more

A:computer keeps freezing.

From previous experiences i would recommend reinstalling the operating system as self-built systems can cause hardware issues with the operating system installed and sometimes cause the computer to frequently crash. So reinstall the operating system and if this fails to resolve the problem there is likely to be a malfunction in the hard-drive.

Hope this helps

Hi! I'm new to the forums, and i couldn't find where to post this, so i just decided to do it here....

First of all my specs...

Asus Rampage Mobo (came with the SupremeFx II Sound card, so im using it)
Q9550 (stock speeds)
Artic Pro 7 cooler
2 x 2GB OCZ Reaper PC8500 (stock speed which is 800mhz not 1600 as advertised)
Sapphire Radeon HD3870 Toxic Edition (factory oc)
2 x 250gb Seagate Barracuda ES.2 (took off the jumpers)
Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit

The computer keeps freezing at random times, at first i thought i had done something bad while overclocking, but now everything is set on auto, and it keeps freezing.... then i thought it was a bad memory stick, well i checked them using windows tools, the are both working fine... Then i thought it was a bad driver, so i reinstalled windows and all the drivers as well, but as you can imagine it did not work... The first time it froze i was uploading a video in youtube, so i rebooted the machine and tried it again, the same thing happened ... Then after reinstalling everything this time i was able to upload two videos without having problems, but after a couple of minutes of glory, it stopped working....

I am really confuse, how can the computer stand 17 hours of the torturte test (passing every single test) and the just freeze when is not doing anything at all...

please let me know if you have any ideas...

thank you..

For about a week now my computer has been freezing to the point where the only things I can do are: open up my task manager, move my mouse and sometimes close windows. Spybot S+D along with Avira AntiVir are use on a regular basis to keep my risks low. Despite my efforts I have realized after using UniBlue my system has been found to have over 700 problems. Here is my HJ log, and I would also like to ask if you want me to purchase the full version of the UniBlue thing to fix those errors if necessary.

After I turn off my computer and then start it up right away it will work fine. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Hello, I am running Windows XP Pro on my computer that I've had for 4 years. For some reason it has started to freeze up every time I watch a video on YouTube. Sometimes it will freeze up when I'm playing a casino game. The only thing I can do is to turn the computer off manually. I recently reinstalled Windows and all of my programs because the computer was running slow. I ran my AVG virus program and nothing came up. Do you have any ideas of what may be causing this? Thank You.

A:Computer keeps freezing up!

Have you had your AVG AntiVirus for a long time. Sounds like a Software Conflict. But maybe not. Go to http://nanoscan.com which is manufactured by Panda Security. It will find most any culprit and you can run it with your AVG AntiVirus turned on. Hope this helps.

Being able to boot into Safe Mode is usually a sign of a driver issue.

Also, have you scanned for infections?

I installed Advanced Systemcare and did a few things on that today, but it still freezes on me. Any other suggestions?

Hello everyone,
I built a PC about a year ago and I've been having freezing issues. It mainly happens when I'm gaming which is why I think it may be a heating issue but I'm not too sure. When it does, freeze, everything locks up, even the mouse. At this point I have to restart by resetting the power. The strange thing is, Its not consistent which just adds to my headache of trying to pinpoint the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (Below is the basic setup)

MSI P6N Diamond nForce 680i Socket 775 Motherboard
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 512MB PCIe w/Dual Link DV
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66Ghz 12MB 1333Mhz CPU
Kingston 1024MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz

A:Freezing computer

And it could be a video card driver issue. Try the following...

1. Download Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweeper (both have free versions; make sure the version will work with your OS) to your desktop screen and install.

2. Download the latest diver(s) for your video card but don't install them.

3. Uninstall your video card drivers and reboot your PC into Safe Mode. Run Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweeper but ONLY for the video card drivers. I had someone use it on their chipset drivers! If it doesn't find any video card drivers that is quite okay.

4. Reboot and install new video card drivers.

Hey guys i am hoping to find a solution to a problem with my computer.

Basically it is continually freezing, like non stop and i have to restart the computer everytime it does it. I managed to run a few test such as hw monitor, all temps are fine. Also ran an intel burn trst and my cpu ran fine on all 5 teat on both notmal loading and also maxing on cpu. I have tried running further diagnostics but now my computer freezes withing 5 minutes of startup so i cant run nor even get the chance to download the software. To add to that i have cleaned the entire inside of the computer, the cpu fan was extremely dirty so i thought i had fixed the problem when i cleaned the heck out of it, however this has not solved it. And lastly i have taken out slots of ram one at a time and ran the computer to test for ram failure and this didnt solve it unless by some miracle chance all 3 sticks or ram have failed at once. Anyone know what else could cause it, oh and sometimes it gets past the freezing to the point it goes to the blue screen of death.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

could be malware or some other infection that is directly affecting the computer's performance? what are you using for anti-virus software? do you notice the laptop getting hot at all before it freezes up on you or anything like that? usually the fan will spin up indicating that the CPU is getting hot.

lastly, have you made any software changes to the computer in the last couple months, like new drivers or operating system updates?

Here is a list of what has been freezing my computer:

Kazaa (first instance of freezing). when a song finished downloading, my whole system froze. Norton had detected w32.hllp.handy virus and had some trouble getting rid of it. It repeatedly told me it detected the virus and i quarantined about 15 items. When I went into Norton to look at the quarantined items (my infected files) i deleted them. Was that alright?

Right after this kazaa incident, my computer would freeze randomly, shortly after startup. It slowly got better and my computer stopped freezing. That was a month ago and now most things work fine.

Now my computer freezes when:
Norton Antivirus 2003 full system scans
Mcafee virusscans
(those two were installed at separate times)
online virus scans from norton and mcafee, on their websites.
Played a computer game, froze within 5 minutes of starting the game

My computer is not running slow and I have not had any other major conflicts besides this freezing.
Could my problem be a result of deleting registry entries that symantec instructed my to delete to uninstall norton fully. Or could it be files that handy infected and then I deleted them from quarantine?

Other online virusscans have completed with no problem. But the copy of Norton I installed gives me an error message (4002,517 internal program error) and I have followed symantec's troubleshooting but it has not worked.

Yeah that's a lot to read. sorry. I really appreciate your time.

so about a couple days ago my sytem suddenly starts to randomly crash for no apparent reason
so i reboot and it goes in to windows diagnostic mode and starts deleting and adding files then loads up and its fine. a few min laterr crashes again.
does this to the point where now it somtimes freezzes on the loading screen and i have to re start about 5 times before it loads back up.
each time it crashes it goes to windows daignostic mode and adds and deletes multiple files.at one point it wouldnt even load it kept saying windows is missing certain files and i had to keep hitting re set button multiple times before it would load up.

i cleand out my temp files , defraged the comp, checked for viruses, ran a adware scan and deleted tons of those, did a memtest that came up clean , was told it might be overheating to clean any dust out the fans. * i admit it was dusty in there* so i did that earlier today.

was told also to keep the case cover off as that would help keep it cool?not sure if that is a good advice.what yall think?

so in case this freezes again anyone has any ideas as the next course of action. ?????????

A:Help Computer Keeps Freezing Up On Me

You could:

1) check the temperature in the BIOS next time it freezes...
2) Disable automatically reboot so you can see the Blue screen and error message

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.
4. Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.

3) Check event viewer for errors (red X)
4) Boot in Safe Mode and let the computer seat down for few hours and see if it locks up...

Mostlikely the issue is either an hardware issue or a driver issue...

You could also run check disk, verify that the cable are seating properly inside the case, run a mem check

I have a Desktop computer, which is about 3 years old. It was custom made, with an ASUS Motherboard Model# P5VDC-Mx V2, 2 GBs. of RAM, 250 GB HDD, Nvidia 6200 Graphics Card.
The problem is, that I kept formatting and re-installing my O.S. with the O.S. CD, because of some mistakes that I had made earleir. Then, my computer kept freezing up on me. So, a friend of mine, who has his own computer shop, advised me, to use a specific software, to format or wipe the HDD clean, for a fresh install. Which I did, using Dulik's? Nuke & Boot. After my HDD was wiped, I re-installed XP Pro again, hoping that this would solve the problem of it freezing up. Well, after I installed XP Pro and the appropriate drives, it still freezes up! Usually when my screen saver is running, which is the Windows screen saver on file.
I have Avast A.V. installed, as well as Super-AntiSpyware Pro., Malware's Anti-Malware, Windows Malicious Software Remover to boot! I even used 2 types of one-time, on-line A.V. scanners, to scan for viruses. But, nothing. I even scanned my HDD for errors, defragged my HDD and scanned for registry errors. But, it still freezes up! If anyone has a suggestion, by all means, please advise! Thank you!

* If you aren't really using Logitech Desktop Messenger, you can uninstall it because it's slowing down your computer and it only searches for updates for your Logitech products, but you can update perfect manually without slowing down your computer. * also, remove this program from add-remove programs:NZSearch* Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exeDoubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scanThis will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it.
