Photoshop: 'Shift + Click' not working

Q: Photoshop: 'Shift + Click' not working

Hello! I have been using photoshop for years so I am very familiar with the program, but just the other day I was trying to connect a paint contact point to another area of the screen by holding the shift key (I'm sure you know this trick) and it didn't work! It used to, but now it doesn't. I looked all through the preferences but couldn't find anything. Please help!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I have a Lenovo W530 on which I reinstalled Windows 7 and lenovo softwares and drivers from scratch. Everything works well but for a very annoying detail: The ctrl+shift+s photoshop keyboard shortcut is not longer responding. It was working just before I did the re-install of Windows with the same photoshop installation package I have tried the following without success:- Installing Windows 10 and all the drivers/software and Photoshop (Decided I didn't like it as my PC was running 10 degrees celcius hotter)- re-installing the keyboard driver from the lenovo website on my fresh Windows 7 install- Switching fn/ctrl keys in the bios back and forth- Running Windows troubleshooter- There are no failing processes/services/exe in the reliability monitor nor in event viewer What works:- other keyboard shortcuts work well in photoshop- assigning another keyboard shortcut to save as in photoshop allows works Well it is minor, but bugging me!

My old keyboard was refusing to re-initialize after the peripheral reset during win 7 boot. It's about a decade old, so I just assumed it was dead. I replaced it with my wireless keyboard I use for working on computers, Ms laser 8000. My keyboard now initializes fine, but shift L and Shift E are non functional. Sticky keys is off, along with all the other accessibility features. The keys work fine without shift pressed, and shift works with very other key.

I'm out of ideas, anyone have some?

I'm using a Dell M65 Precision Laptop with Windows XP Pro. I have a phenomenon where the computer suddenly acts as if the shift key is being held down. The cursor locks to the shift+click function and highlights from wherever it started to wherever you move it to. This happens in MS OFFICE apps, and on the desktop. Also, the keyboard functions are reversed. For example if you have the caps lock on the characters are lower case unless you hold down Shift. Another clue may be that in the past (and at the suggestion of Dell tech support - idiots), if you press Shift+Alt+left click, it will occasionally release the functional problem. The past couple of days, that's not working, and the only thing that will release is a reboot. It happens with the keyboard on the laptop as well as an external keyboard through a port replicator.

Any ideas for me?

Thanks

A:Shift+click seems to self-activates

When did this start happening? If it is a recent issue (started less than a month ago), then I would perform a system restore to a couple days before this became an issue. The steps for using the System Restore are detailed here.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad W530. Got it about three months ago, with Windows 7 Pro-64 installed. My issue is that the keyboard shortcut to Run As Administrator doesn't work, whether I use Ctrl-Shift-Click or Ctrl-Shift-Enter (where appropriate). Instead, the program just opens normally, with no UAC prompt. The only way I can find to Run As Administrator (without changing the program or shortcut properties) is through the context menu.

Any thoughts or suggestions on why the shortcut might not be working and how I can remedy it?

A:Ctrl-Shift-Click does NOT Run As Administrator for me

You could try SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Is there a way to disable opening of a new program when clicking on it int he taskbar while holding shift? I use shift for VOIP programs as a push to talk key while multitasking so this makes it annoying.

A:Disable Shift Click on taskbar

Hello SevenUser09

If you install AutoHotKey you can create a script with this code. This will disable shift clicking to open a new instance.

Code:
+LButton:: ; Shift + LButton hotkey.
MouseGetPos,,, win ; Get window under mouse.
; If this window is the taskbar, mode:="", otherwise mode:="{Blind}".
mode := WinExist("ahk_class Shell_TrayWnd ahk_id " win) ? "" : "{Blind}"
Send %mode%{LButton Down} ; Click down, filtering out Shift if mode="".
KeyWait LButton ; Wait for button to be physically released.
Send %mode%{LButton Up} ; Click up.
return
Hope this helps.

So here it goes...

I'm looking for a way to have the open file(and)folder location context menu commands to open always in a new window.

I'll keep googlin' n forum searchin'

Hi. As above. My shift keys are not working. They were initially but one froze then the next. Details below:

1) New laptop, never been connected online so unlikely to be a virus.
2) All other keys work okay.
3) Not a sticky keys issue as looked in to that and put them on/off a couple of times.
4) Not unique problem to application. Sam situation with PwrPt, Excel, Notpad etc.
5) Ctl+Alt+Del works for Task manager but not the Ctl+Shift+Esc (these are identical commands to bring up TskMgr).
6) Have rebooted maching a couple of times.

Hi

I am in the UK and using UK Keyboard Settings.
Since yesterday the Right Shift key is not working correctly.
When i use the right shift key and press the key that should give me a " ? " i get a " / " symbol. The same goes for the " @ " symbol as i get a " ' "But if i use the left Shift key it works ok.
So i am assuming it's software and not hardware as the RSK is still performing a function.

I have checked the regional settings in my control panel and everything is on UK.

Any ideas?

Thanx

A:Right Shift Key not working

technically it could be hardware... because if you get a / when you try type a ? then the right shift key clearly isn't functioning...
try the keyboard in a different computer, or a different keyboard on the same computer and see how it goes!

Thank you in advance for your help!

Welcome to Seven Forums BaconCatBug. You should be able to add items to the extended menu, but I don't know if it will also reside in the standard menu.

How to Add Any Application Shortcut to Windows Explorer?s Context Menu

You might also see if the entry is listed via Shell Menu View. If so, the program also has an extended view (File> Set extended view) you can use to add it there.

As the title says, my C key abruptly just...stopped working correctly. It worked at night, I shut the computer off, and it wasn't working when I turned it on in the morning. Just pressing C is completely unresponsive. Strangely, pressing any other key in combination works just fine. I can press shift+C and get a capital C (or press caps lock and then shift+C to get a lowercase). I can use ctrl+C to copy and it works just fine. At first I thought it was a problem with my keyboard, and cleaned it out, but it didn't work. I bought a new keyboard, even, and the same problem is happening. I posted this problem in the hardware forum, but since I bought a new keyboard that's obviously not the problem. I'm really at a loss, and any help in fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

Alright.First of all hi to everyone. My shift button on keyboard is not working.I don't know why.I repaired my system on 2 January, taken keyboard away, disk, etc. I know how to do those stuffs, because i needed to clean him.On 15 January i got a problem that shift key is going on lack activity.Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.Now it works no more. The interesting thing is that... it may sound ''funny'' because one day i just tested and my shift key works only when i use shift key+K letter. So when i hold shift with K,L,0,9, (something from these 4) it works and then i must hold shift+any of that 4 keys and then i can type everything like _"("(("("$("$("!!!)?>?. Without that,my shift is not working.I assume it has to do with shortcuts, etc. They told me on other forum that my Keyboard is problem and it is Hardware problem not Software nature. So any ideas?

still working here, with checkboxes turned both off and on. try turning them off, then restarting. If that fixes it, turn them back on and restart and see if it is fixed. Does your shift key in general work? Maybe try the right side shift key.

I am not sure what I did to cause this...In my winxp virtualbox vm the program still works fine so I think something in Win7 is set wrong but I don't know what has happened..

Would there be any reason a key would stop working just for one program only?

Thanks for any help..

A:Why Would Right-Shift Key Stop Working in Just One Program?

Did you make any system changes, apply updates, install new programs, etc. just before the problem started?

What program has this problem?

Is there anything in the configuration options or Help for this program that might explain this?
Do you have a restore point or backup image from before the problem started that you can restore?
Can you uninstall/reinstall this program?

Hello

I read that to insert Time in a document, I should use Alt Shift T. This is not working. To insert date, use Alt Shift D and this is working

Is there a possibility to add a date and time button on the ribbon. One click and these value put in the text

Martin

A:Inserting Time: Alt Shift T Not working

You have not mentioned what version of Office you are using & I assume you are referring to a document in Word.

If you are using MS Office you could try repairing Office by opening Control Panel, select Programs & Features, then Right Click on Microsoft Office & select Change, which will give you a couple of Repair options.
You could also refer to this MS website. There are some links within that to follow as well.

If you are using Word 2013 this screen shot shows where the Date & Time inserts are. I think Word 2010 is the same.
