(YOGA 710) Combo Jack Questions on External Mic with External Speaker.

Q: (YOGA 710) Combo Jack Questions on External Mic with External Speaker.

Hey, I have a YOGA 710 and I recently bought an external mic due the genius placement of the built in mic and because I started playing games with my friends recently. I got a Y-splitter along the mic and was told by the seller that I needed to select the MIC-IN option in the Realtek Audio Manager to use the mic. I did that and the mic works through the splitter but my external speaker won't work and sound is playing through the built in speaker. If I select the other option in the Audio Manager (headset/headphones) the speaker works but the mic won't. I just can't seem to get both to work at the same time. I tested the splitter with my phone and everything was working fine. I googled this and I saw some posts saying that the audio card in the motherboard might not support the Y-splitter that allows me to use both mic and speakers together. So I'm here asking if there is anyone with a similar problem. I'm currently using the MIC-IN option with my wireless headset until I can solve this issue.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I want to plug an external mic into the combo mic/headphone jack of my Yoga 910.  I?ve read that it will work if I uninstall Realtek sound driver and use the Microsoft high definition audio driver instead.  So I tried it, but the problem is that the Microsoft driver doesn?t work on my machine.  It says I have no audio device installed.   My questions are, should I try another way of connecting the mic (like using an adapter?and is so, what kind)?  Or if using the Microsoft driver should work, how do I get it to work on my machine?  Thanks!

Alright, so here's the problem. I just recently got this computer and plugged it into the VGA port and the sound wouldn't work. I plugged Logitech External Speakers into it and the computer didn't even acknowledge that it was there. I plugged in Headphones to see if those worked and they didn't aswell. I asked the guy who I got the computer from and he said that it (sound) would work when plugged in using HDMI. So I did that and the sound does work, but only through the TV speakers. It still doesn't acknowledge the speakers or the headphone s when plugged in. So I wen t and grabbed some other speakers I had and tried those and It still didn't recognize the speaker. My question is: How Do I Get My Computer To Recognize My Speakers? Any help would be much appreiciated.

I am one of those unfortunate souls with a laptop that has a single jack both for audio output and microphone input. When I plug a lapel mic into it, the computer doesn't even notice it's there, and keeps making me use its crummy internal mic. How do I persuade it to check to see if maybe I have an external mic plugged in? If I had a dedicated mic input jack, I am fairly confident it would work.

I've heard a lot of people struggle with this single-jack thing. What do I do? Thanks.

Kind of a strange problem that has surfaced for no apparent reason. The PC in question is an older HP (originally W7x64) desktopPC (slim wprkgroup style) that was upgraded to W10x64 last year. It has an internal speaker. So normally I could plug in a standard 1/8" cable with R/L RCA outputs and the audio would switch (as expected) from the internal speaker to the external output. Now, it's like the green speaker jack doesn't "see" that I've connected an external cable. Rather, the internal speaker continues to run as if no cable has been connected. Same situation if I plug headphones into the appropriate jack. I have also confirmed that the audio receiver RCA input jacks (where I'm sending the signal) doen't detect an input source. So apparently the PC is not sending any audio signals to the green audio output jack.

I've experimented with changing default devices, disabling and enabling, and also uninstalling the driver and re-detecting it through device manager. Everything looks normal so I'm truly perplexed as to why the audio output won't switch.

Anyone have some ideas on what else I can try?

I recently change my ThinkPad Y560 to a Yoga 730, and one of the issue I'm having now is the external speaker (Logitech X540) volume is extremely low. Usually, I just need to turn it 40%, but with the new laptop, I need to turn it all the way up to 70-80% to get the volume I used to have. I saw some post about updating the Enhancements option, but mine won't even have that option for me, but just "Disable all sound effects", and no drop-down list at all. Does anyone know how to fix the problem? Because I really want to continue to use the speaker, but the original laptop volume is even better than it.....

I am running Windows 10 Professional with current up-to-date updates on my Dell Inspiron Laptop.

Several days ago I noticed that plugging in current headset no longer muted the internal speaker. I know that it is not the headset as it works perfectly on another computer.
.
Doing a web search has not resulted in finding the problem, let alone a solution. Further my anti-virus is up-to-date, as are the microphone and speaker drivers.

Pointers in the direction of a solution will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

A:External Speaker Fails to Mute Internal Speaker

What audio codec does your laptop use?

It will be listed in device manager. The VEN DEV combo will be enough information.

You'll find it in the device properties details tab, specifically, the "Hardware IDs" section.

It will resemble this:

Code:
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0288&SUBSYS_10EC0191&REV_1000
Usually the audio codec chip itself will detect an external speaker is plugged in. Have you checked your audio device's configuration software? It should have a shortcut in the classic control panel.

The message means Windows detected that you have a high speed USB 2.0 interface in the external enclosure and a slower USB 1.1 interface on the computer. The data transfer will take place using the slower USB 1.1 standard maximum speed of 12 Mbits-per-second, or about 1.5 MBytes per second

FYI, USB 2.0 maximum is 40x faster at 480 Mbits-per-second

I was just given this computer upgrade at work. I have the external speakers that I had with the old computer, but now I can hardly hear my cds! I've checked all the volume controls. Our tech person doesn't have time to deal with this "personal" issue. Could there be something in the sound card or some other hardware issue that just doesn't allow louder volume? I'm no expert on how computers run, so maybe there is something I'm overlooking.

A:Low External Speaker Volume

Is the master volume or any of the other volumes set low? Checking threw
Start -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices
In there are a few different volume settings that might be set to low. In the volume tab If you click the Advanced button under the Device volume it brings up a few different audio options, inculding master volume. I'm not sure if you checked that yet if not, I hope that helps. (I wasn't sure if you meant volume controls on the computer or on the speakers...some speakers can have several different types of volume control)

Are you using a seperate sound card, or a integrated sound card?

EDIT: I have my control panel set up under classical veiw, if you do not click
Start -> Control Panel -> Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices -> Sounds and Audio Devices

for high-end cards so that it doesnt mess the PCIe and PCI slots, and no such thing as my GPU fan is blocking my soundcard PCI slot. it's because im in the situation now.

cons:
for low end video users, they have to fork out to get better sound for which some people don't need.

I want to get an external hard drive/dvd burner combo if there is such a thing. To make this question as simple as possible...I need a hard drive that my camera can be plugged into with the firewire. I also need the hard drive that is able to plug in to the USB2 slot on my computer, because
my new Dell doesn't seem to tolerate a firewire card which I installed and then took out and returned to the store. It froze my computer and I tried everything to stabilize it but had no luck. It did work long enough to download 10 min. or so of video and I burned that onto a cd. Thats when I found out I had a dvd-rom not a dvd burner......long story I know. Sorry. I just want to figure out the most economical way now to save my movies and burn them to dvd also using either another external dvd burner or maybe there is a hard drive/dvd burner combo?? Or should I just get two separate externals?
Again: I need the hard drive/burner to plug into my computer with usb2.
Then the firewire from the camera would go into the hard drive/burner to download the movies.

A:No internal or external speaker sound

first go to control panel and check the audio option of your computer and see if the computer recognizes a sound card.

after clicking audio go ahead and check the settings. if everything is grayed out it means you don't have sound card installed, you need to check device manager and see if you have your sound card there and if see if it's installed with the correct driver.

check also if the external speakers are connected to the right audio port at the back of pc.

As soon as I switch it on, it causes a continuous buzzing/interference in the speakers- it seems to be worse when the volume is turned down. The casing is a metal material. I have another seagate external HDD, which is not causing any issues with sound.

Any help with be appreciated as the buzzing noise is giving me a headache

A:Speaker interferance when external HDD is switched on

If the new one has its own power supply it could be bad. It could be cheap/poor design of the interface in the case. Try it in another usb slot or on another computer to be sure it isn't the slot. You might be sure the drive is making good contact with the case.

Hi,

I've just bought some Bose Companion 3 series II speakers to work with my Toshiba Equium laptop.

The speakers work fine when plugged dierectly to my ipod but are rubbish when connected to the laptop. The big bass speaker hardly outputs any sound at all and the sound from small speakers is bit distorted, with some back ground noise - sounds like bad am radio.

I've tried messing about with low volume settings on pc and adjusting all permutations within control panel / sound systems.

Could it be a software problem - e.g. device driver? Its a realtek device?

Like I said the ipod seems to prove the speakers are fine.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

A:External speaker problem with Toshiba laptop

Simple test first - did you try a pair of headphones, like the earbuds your iPod uses, in the speaker jack and see what you heard there? If its distorted, but sound okay through the Toshiba's speakers, then it might be a hardware issue with the jack.

To me the laptop would have to be Bluetooth enabled which if it was then you could play the sound through the laptop speakers.

Hello and welcome McMortigan now not wanting to sound pedantic mate but in general we like to have members post their own threads.

I know it is very tempting to ask when you see stuff related to a problem you have but it does tend to confuse and throw the original thread off track.

However a the other poster has not replied I am curious as to what OS that machine came with because it seems to be a recent model.

Now as always the Dell site is quite convoluted - at least out here as I would say update the audio drivers but cannot give you a link.

If you go with this then we shall know just what audio device you have in that machine
Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT as a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE (sometimes the usual one for Gigabyte boards)
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
Limits +/- (minimum - correct - maximum)
12v1 = 11.4 - 12 - 12.6v
12v2 = 11.4 - 12- 12.6v
5v = 4.75 – 5 - 5.25v
3.3v = 3.135 – 3 – 3.465v

Hi,      I recently acquire an old Acer S5, and like to connect to external microphone and speaker at the same time. I tried using a spliter (4 poles to mic and speaker), the sound can be output to the speaker, but it is still using the built in mic.         How can I redirect to it to use exteranl mic? Is there any special requirement for adapter? I feel that the adapter is not connected properly, I don't feel the "click" when inserting the 4 poles jack, but I am not able to push the jack in further. I tried with my samsung earpiece + mic, it the behaving the same.       Please help. Regards.

I can no more hear anything through my earphone/headphone/external speakers. However the headset mic is working perfectly. So there is no problem with the headphone jack. The devices work fine with my smartphone. So no problems there. I have tried unintalling the drivers and reinstalling them again. That didn't solve it. The configure option for communications headphones is not showing up. I cannot also set it as default. Please help!

Hello. I have a eSATA/USB-Combo-Port on a T520. I think there are cables to connect a 2,5" Harddisk direct to the Port with only one cable for eSATA and Power. I am looking for an external case for a 2,5" Harddisk that have a USB-Port (to connect to other Computers) AND a Port for my eSATA/USB-Combo-Port. Does anyone know where to buy a suitable Case? I Want to connect the Disk to my T520 using the eSATA speed (with one cable) with the option to connect it to other computers who only have USB 2.0. Thank you very much.  Jens

Hi @ZrUlka,Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. From your description it seems you are referring to an Acer system with the issue. With that in mind you may want to try out the Acer support site. Acer Worldwide Support - acer.com If on the other hand you are dealing with an HP system, then please post the full product number and operating system in use on your computer. See the following, if you need help with that information. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit? Please let me know how that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Hi all,
I have a 3rd gen x1 carbon, about a month old.  I am not sure whether it has always done this or not, but when the computer goes to sleep mode with my external bose speakers plugged in, they buzz.  It's the same buzz that comes from the speakers when, for example, I touch the cable contact with my hand or against a piece of metal, but this is the first time a computer has ever done this when it is in sleep mode- the very same speakers did not have the problem on another computer.  And obviously the sound stops when the computer boots up, and no buzzing at any other time.

It's a minor annoyance- I walk away for twenty minutes and realize it's buzzing like crazy and unplug the speakers- but I'd rather there were a fix of some kind.  Does anyone know of one?

If no other strange operations are noted, make sure the plug is inserted fully.
