I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Greeting all... This afternoon one of the folks in my IT department did me a favor and installed a new battery in my IdeaPad P500 Touch.  Everything seems to be working well with sole exception that my backlit keyboard is no longer backlit, nor does it respond when I use Funtion+Spacebar. Is there another way to toggle turn the keyboard light on and off other than Function+Spacebar?  Does anyone know how I can fix it? Thanks!

My Ideapad S415 touch screen has suddenly stopped working.  I've had a tech connect to my PC and try a BIOS reload of default settings, plus unistalling all "HID" devices in Device Manager with no resolution.  I've also tried a system restore with no luck. The system properties does see the touch capability. Suggestions? Thanks.

A:Ideapad S415 Touch - touch screen stopped working

hi Hersh,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

First do a Power Drain
     (If the battery is removable)
Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
                  If not
I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.

Hi there, sorry to be a bother.Like the title says, my touch screen stopped working. I went on to my computer one afternoon and found my mouse stuck in the top left corner, fidgeting. This was what I was expiriencing. (My touch-screen still worked fine at the time, but I still couldn't do anything or control the mouse, but I could tell that it was still working and it still responded.) After a bit of time and a few restarts later, it went back to normal, but my touch-screen then stopped working. I'm used to the touch-screen working incorrectly occasionally, and much like the mouse thing, a restart or two helps. It has now been three days and my touchs-creen still does not work. I've tried many of the solutions found in these forums, but to no avail. I am running Windows 10 and have had this computer for 2+ years.  Thanks.

Hello everyone, my touch screen on my lenovo ideapad z400 touch is not working anymore.  The only weird thing I remember is some ghost touchpoint on my screen. I have Ideapad Flex 14 Ideapad S100 with Windows 10 having latest updates. A few days ago I had realized that thouch screen doesn't work any more. After consultation with Lenovo Turkey, which was insisting on recovery, I recovered my ideapad turning back to an image taken by Win10 two months ago. This step did not help. Some how next day after recovery in the morning it worked only for a few hours then stopped working again. I tried to disable and enable the "HID-compliant device" or other relaten USB items and reinstalled/activated, it did not help.I hope it is a software/driver failure and this problem will be solved soon by Lenovo.

I know a few others have asked this question, but I haven't seen anyone report a solution or any follow-up to suggestions given. Here's what happened: my touch screen worked normally on Friday, then I went away for the weekend and didn't use my laptop and when I started working on Monday I realized my touch screen didn't work. Here's what I have done to try to fix it:1. Restarted the computer2. Disabled & enabled the HID-compliant touch screen in the Device Manager 3. Disabled & enabled the Generic PnP Monitor in the Device Manager4. Checked for driver updates for the touch screen (it said the most up-to-date driver is already installed)5. Tried to roll back the driver for the touch screen, but that button was greyed out, so it wasn't an option6. Unstalled the most recent Windows updates (there were a couple from the previous week)7. Unstalled the HID-compliant touch screen (but when I restarted the computer, there it was again)8. Talked to the IT guy for my work, who said I did everything he would have done, and suggested that I write a post on this forum. I saw a suggestion in another thread that the driver for the touch screen could be corrupted, but I didn't really see any instructions on how to unstall/reinstall the driver itself. I would like to try that if someone could tell me how that's done. Any other ideas? My Lenovo is probably 4-5 years old, Windows 10 for well over a year, installed a new anti-virus software a few months ago with no issues... Read more

Hi Nancy,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Please perform the below steps:

Press Windows + X
Select Device Manager.
Find the Touch screen driver under Mice and Other Pointing Devices > USB Touchscreen Controller (A111).  You're going to uninstall this and check the box that says "Delete the driver software for this device".
Restart your computer.
Re-pen the Device Manager, and confirm that the Touchscreen is now listed under Human Interface Devices.

I hope the above information helps.

Regards,

The touchscreen stopped working suddenly on my Envy TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx. At first i though it was like a normal failure and that will get fixed by turning the pc off or restarting so I did not pay attention to it until now that I had restart my pc multiple times. Currently running win10. I started to believe it was because of an update a few days ago since it was when the problem started but all drivers and everything is up to date. I have checked for the HID-compliant Touch Screen driver and had to  show hidden divices in order to find it. I cannot enable it and when i check in the properties the following message displays: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." I have no idea on how to connect or how it got disconnected. I come from a similar thread but did not solve my problem. First of all I was running Windows 8 everything was fine. Upgraded to Windows 8.1 everything was good at first. Months after doing so my touch screen started acting up. It would only work when I position the screen a certain way. So I stopped messing with it because I thought it was a wiring problem inside the computer. I would fix it later, And then sadly I upgraded to Windows 10. I noticed shortly after there was no touch screen options at all. It says there is no Pen and Touch. Today it was listed in the control panel so I started messing with it. Drivers were there all up to date. They said the Device did not migrate. It was 2 or 3 drivers listed for the touch screen and they all said the same thing. After a restart they were no longer in the device manager and no options in the control panel anymore. Please help me figure this out... Thank you.

What's the model name and complete model number of that Toshiba?
(2 sets of characters separated by a dash comprise the complete model number)

If that Toshiba wasn't tested for and doesn't provide driver support for Windows 10, you can expect some of its devices not to work properly or not work at all.
That tends to be more of a problem with laptops than it does with desktops.

Hello! I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me. I'm running on Windows 8.1. Tonight, certain keys on my keyboard stopped working. These are the: 5, 6, F1, F2, +/=, -/_, home and end keys. The touchsceen keyboard still works, and an extenal keyboard plugged in also works. I have already tried uninstalling the driver and there are no updates available. Prior to this happening, I did have a brief glitch where the number 6 kept slipping in randomly while I typed. I assumed it to be stuck, but, well...now it isn't working at all. Could it be a physical issue with the keyboard? These are pretty random keys to go out all at once.  Thanks very much!

Hi all, I purchased my U530 Touch laptop in January of 2015, then about a year later I had the infamous "broken hinge" issue that a lot of these laptops seem to suffer from. I sent it in to Lenovo and had it fixed though, and haven't had any other issue with it until now. The problem I am now experiencing is a very noticable flickering that moves from the bottom to the top of the screen. Changing the refresh rate only seems to change the rate at which the flickering moves. I noticed that the glossy black portion of the hinge seemed to have a slighly loose feel, and saw the screen flickering issue go away when I pressed into the hinge in the right place. You can feel and hear the plastic moving when pressing into the hinge. If you fiddle with it enough you can get it to a state where the screen doesn't flicker, but it's not an ideal solution. If the laptop gets even slightly bumped or moved, the flickering will come back. Any help with this issue would be much appreciated.

Hello Lenovo,I'm a business management student from India.I purchased Lenovo Ideapad U310 Touch model this May from the US (through Amazon) and have been using it without any issues till the last month. Last month I noticed that the hinge had developed tension and there was additional pressure on the lid or the screen area while closing. I thought it would be a routine issue and took it to my college's hardware repair center, but they suggested I handle the issue via Lenovo Support as it required opening the laptop. When I checked Lenovo support through customer care (India), I was told that the U series is not covered by International warranty. But I checked if the Lenovo service center would still have a look at the issue, to which I was told that it would be chargeable. I thought it was fair enough and took the laptop to the service center in Jamshedpur this afternoon. To my utter disappointment, the technician was unable to open up the area near the screen (where the problem was supposedly), but he also got the screen cracked while trying to. Now I'm left with a laptop that cannot be used as even though the screen display is intact, the touch sensors detect screen touch near the cracked area and keep the cursor rooted to that point. Also, the issue with the hinge could also not be fixed. All to add to the woes, I will have to manage a few days (don't know how many) without a laptop and also shell out the expense from my pocket! Now my question is, will the screen for Ideapad... Earlier this evening I was working on my P500 Touch laptop. I wasn't running an obscene amount of programs or doing anything I believed particularly strenuous for the laptop - I was editing a Publisher document and also had Chrome open in the background. The laptop shut down very suddenly with no warning - everything went black out of nowhere. I hit the power button in an attempt to restart, and the lenovo logo flashed, but the computer shut down again. It continued doing this for 20 minutes straight - sometimes the logo flashed, but sometimes only the power button lit up and the screen stayed black. I called support and they attempted to walk me through a few other options but nothing changed. I've looked everywhere online, tried every solution offered, and can't get anywhere. I've unplugged it, held power button down, tried the recovery button - when I hit that, I finally got a screen that gave me Windows recovery options and I chose to restart in safe mode - mistake, since now I'm back to square one. I can't find any other answers, and since it's out of warranty Lenovo can't offer me any further support.  The rep told me I might need to reinstall Windows, meaning I'd lose everything - this is NOT an option. I am in my senior year of college and I have way too many valuable files on this PC to risk losing.  Basically, I need a miracle. Please help!!

My X220 tablet comes with pen and limited touch support with 2 touch points. I have no issues on windows 7 but on windows 8.1 it has changed to be working with only 1 touch point since some time that I don't remember exactly when. So that I can work with one finger only and 2-finger functions such as pinch to zoom are unavailable. My drivers are all uptodate. I think I should completely uninstall the related driver before reinstalling but don't know how to procede and couldn't find the solution. I tried uninstalling all HIDs through Device manager and one-by-one, specifically wacom device. when I uninstall it, I lose touch option completely. but reinstalling through Device Manager sounds like recovering exactly the previous faulty condition. Maybe there is a conflict with windows 8.1 like Microsoft Input Configuration Device which might be unlikely.  So is there any other way to have full wipe and clean reinstall of those touch screen drivers? I appreciate it if you put links to the drivers for me, if they are not available on Lenovo Support. Tell me if you had the same touch issue in Windows 8.1  and how you solved it. Thanks

My Lenovo U410 Touch recently got damaged - the hinge broke causing the touch screen to **bleep**.I was told that a repair was not feasible as none of the repair shops near me were able to source the parts needed.I therefore bought a new laptop. However, there is a lot of data on the old laptop that I want to access, including sorting out the licensing of MS Office (by uninstalling from the old one).I cannot do anything about it as the old machine is completely unusable as due to the touch screen being cracked, it seems to think it is constantly being touched in multiple places on the screen. This means that I cannot access the laptop to copy the data or uninstall Office. Anyone know any way around this that doesn't involve taking it to a repair shop to "recover" my data. Cheers

The laptop has vertical lines of dead pixels running across the screen and I want to get the LCD replaced. Now the non touch screen model of this laptop has a Full HD variant (1920x1080) as opposed to the standard 1366x768 WXGA HD display while the touch models only come with the WXGA HD LCDs. Can I replace the LCD of my touch screen model with the FHD one? I have been able to detach the digitiser from the LCD itself and have the hinges and screws so I would assume it would be a simple case of changing one LCD with the other. The replacement touch screen models all come with the digitizer and hinges attached which is not something I require so it would be easier (and cheaper!) if I only got the LCD replaced. Lastly, if this is possible, do I need to purchase any additional cables? If so, which one? Thanks in advance.

A:Replacing Dell 15R 5537 Touch screen LCD with FHD non touch LCD

You're going to need at least the FHD wiring harness:
www.parts-people.com/index.php
the screen
www.parts-people.com/index.php
and the bezel
www.ebay.com/.../302211389965
You may or may not be able to re-use the back cover/hinge assembly - usually these are different between non-touch and touch versions.

The trackpad (from how it seems) causes Windows to switch to touch mode on the W541. What triggers touch mode?- Using the trackpad;- Unlocking the laptop. So why care if the W541 does not have any touch capabilities anyway?- Apps switch to touch mode which enlarges elements and makes work inefficient;- Websites switch to touch mode which makes certain web elements unusable;- The notifications button is moved off the screen for a while (see attachment);- The famous touch keyboard button shows up in the taskbar. What we have tried so far:- Updating all drivers provided by Lenovo;- Disabling tablet mode from Settings ? Tablet mode;- Disabling the Synaptics Pointing Device from Device Manager;- Disabling Human Interface Devices (even though nothing with ?touch? is listed here) from Device Manager;- Disabling all trackpad features from Synaptics. The way to work from the W541 is to use a mouse without ever touching the trackpad and to never lock the laptop which is ridiculous. Operating system: Windows 10 Enterprise (issue also confirmed on Windows 8)

Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.

Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.

If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.

I hope this links helps you.

Hello, My Thinkpad Yoga is connected to a large display through ThenkPad docking station.  Its lid is closed.   During my work, from time to time I see random touch clicks on my screen, and random opening of menus.  It is clear that the touch screen is active although the lid is closed.  When I open the lid, and still connected just to the 2nd display (large screen) display the phenomena stops.  Worth noting is that although only the 2nd display shows an image, the laptop touch screen is still sensetive to touch.  This is I guess why the random touches show up on the screen -- it feels the keyboard not fingers. I expect the touch screen to be disabled while the lid is closed or when projecting only to the 2nd screen.  The solution of opening the lid while connected to the docking station is not acceptable.  Lenovo's local support suggestion to disable touch for the Yoga is also not acceptable -- people purchase Yoga to get Touch.   A solution please! Yaron

So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40°. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. I had no luck trying driver versions 7.3.3.12, 7.3.4.8 and 7.3.4.13. I would really appreciate your help since this issue makes working in the tablet position... Read more

I just did a fresh install of Windows 10 on this HP Stream notebook.  Now the touch pad quit working.  And when I go into Device Manager to try and fix it and update the driver for the touch pad, there is not even that option.  Touch pad does not exist in the section for mouse and pointing devices.  Only the generic mouse I am using now appears. How can I fix this?Thank you!

Yes, you have to install the Intel chipset drivers from hp.com for the touchpad to work after a fresh install on the Stream notebooks. Run the driver execuatable files, don't try to update it from Device Manager.

I have a kiosk on which I've just installed 8.1 pro. It has an oem touch screen manufactured by General touch (p/n st6001u). I've installed the driver and it seems to work but Windows still says "no pen or touch available". My customers using the
kiosk will need to type on screen in addition to just clicking. Is there any way to for the OS into touch mode? I believe under 7 there was an option in Windows features but I can't seem to find anything on 8. Google has been no help.
Any ideas?
