I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We changed one of our computers to Windows XP SP 2 and in doing so I had to update office and access 2003. In doing so I see we can't export our database from excel and bring it into access as a table. I heard there was a lawsuit that prevented the linking now.

I've seen a few work-arounds but I can't get them to work. The error message is "could not find installable ISAM" but when I read the microsoft articles it doesn't really tell you how to do it. I'm not an IT guy. I read somewhere that you can change the connection string...but I don't know how or where to do that.

I seem so close...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SteveO

A:Access 2003 trouble import excel files as tables...

You'll have to edit the query and connections.
ISAM as far as I know is a ODBC driver which has to be bought and installed, it's system bound as far as I know, so maybe that's the problem that you 'lost'the ISAM ODBC driver after the update ???

Is it possible to import from notepad into excel?

I want to take a list of about 100+ single words from note pad (1 on each row) then put them into an excel sheet.

Problem is that I want to split the words up and insert a translation of the word above each one and then box the pair. I can type the translation manually but it could turn into 100s so I want to find a quick way to do some of it.

It would look like a full page grid with 2 words in each box.

Any help much appreciated

I have extracted data via sql from one application and need to upload it into a newer version of the same testing software. The problem: The data from the older version uses html tags for all formatting, when uploading the test cases to the new version, the tags load as literal text.

What I need is the formating to upload as it was formated within the older application.

Can anyone help? I am not a programmer.

Guys,

I have a question regarding developing a macro to export the contents from Notepad to Excel 2003 and then rearranging them i.e. separate them into coloums etc. The reason for this is that the software I am currently using (IES) outputs the parameters into a *.txt file. For it to be easily read, i would have to manually copy and paste hundreds of figures over to the right column in Excel.

How would you go about creating a macro or a script to assist me in doing so?

For example:
Room No. 1 Colour Orange No. of People 10 No. of Computers 20 Windows Yes Air conditioning Yes

Room No. 2 Colour Green No. of People 12 No. of Computers 2 Windows No Air conditioning Yes

Room No .3

...... and so forth
INTO
Room No | Colour | No. of People | No. of Computers | Windows | Air Conditioning |
1 | Orange | 10 | 20 | Yes | Yes |
2 | Green | 12 | 2 | No | Yes |

Thanks for any leads that could bring me closer to the solution.

I have a SQL query that I pasted into the MS Query ("MSQ") SQL text box and it runs fine an renders the correct data in the MSQ box. When I click the little MSQ icon to have it link up to my Excel sheet it seems to link but when executed in Excel it just sits there. No data. Is it because I have a prewritten query? The link-up doesn't seem to have a problem coughing up data for a whole table if I use their little wizard, but my queries are fairly complex and the wizard is a bit too simplistic. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm trying to create a macro to import a webpage on to an excel (2003) worksheet. The website is:
http://wwwagwx.ca.uky.edu/uk_combo.htm

Everything I have tried (and tried, and tried) imports the text only without the gif's. It appears that the gifs might actually be individual links and that may be the problem. I do not need the links, just he pictures.

The following code is just the basic set up. I have not included any of my failed attempts as they are just that...failed stuff.

I did include within the code the urls for each individual gif as I think there might be a way to accomplish this using individual calls, but that seems like a lot of wasted time as there are 20 gifs on the page. I would prefer to open the page once and copy it to my sheet "S" in one shot. Or,open the site once and copy the individual pictures one at a time, as that would work also.

Any direction is appreciated.

Unless I am misunderstanding what you are trying to do you should just be able to open Excel and choose FILE >> OPEN and then enter the website URL into the filename text box and click OK or use the following macro command.
Code:
[B]Workbooks.Open Filename:="http://wwwagwx.ca.uky.edu/uk_combo.htm"[/B]
If you follow the steps above the entire webpage will be pulled into the Excel sheet including the pictures but as you indicated above the pictures are embedded hyperlink images. If you would rather have the pictures saved locally to your machine you can run the macro below which will save each image from the website and then edit the hyperlink to point to your local drive instead . Just change the portions in the code that are highlighted in red to reflect the correct URL of the page to download the images from and the save path on your local machine. Hope this helps!!
Code:

A:Word files become notepad after Office 2003 install

I am not sure what you mean it changes into a notepad file. If you save your document as a cetain kind of file, it wouldn't change the filename. Notepad is a text editor. It can read all types of files and show text within those files.

Are you saving your word documents as .DOC or .TXT or .RTF?
You should be able to right click on one of those files and choose open with and then go down the list until you come to Word. Click that, check off always use this program to open this type of file. That will associate those with word. Then they will open in Word and the icon should be correct as well.

hi guys
I want to import multiple excel files into single worksheet in a seperate excel file?
Is there a macro or procedure I can use to import these files..

all the files that need to be imported are in a single folder and data is in sheets a5 to j56 on each excel file.

A:import multiple excel files

I had this code in Access and was able to adapt it for Excel, I can't take credit for the part that collects the file info from the folder, but the rest I have put it.

I can actually use this myself, you just have to remember that Excel only holds 65536 rows.

Also I didn't have time to add a method to set the path of the folder, I want to use the GetFile so I will probably modify it later...for now you need to modify this part of the code in the VB editor to match the folder you want to import

path = "C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\" '*** Edit I added input box

This is a rough draft so it currently only works from the originating book ( I'll upload it), although really I don't think it matters since it serves the purpose of consolidating all the sheets to one. I also added a field to put the file name beside the pasted data.

Code:
Public Function test2()

Range("A1").Select

Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Dim strFile As String 'Filename
Dim strFileList() As String 'File Array
Dim intFile As Integer 'File Number
'Dim filename As String
Dim path As String
Dim Srow As Integer ' stores range to paste filename
Dim Erow As Integer ' stores range to paste filename
Dim CopyBook, OrigName As String

path = InputBox("copy the PATH from the Address bar" & vbNewLine _

Hello,

The files are numbered in an ordered, sequential fashion eg. KM070201000, KM070201001, KM070201002, etc.

If I change the row height it prints the squeezed up text but still double-spaces. If I copy the whole content of the spreadsheet into a new blank spreadsheet it prints normally.
Is there any setting in Excel 2007 that I might have missed ?

Also is there a way to turn it on and off if it is automated?

Could you please help?

A:Parse HTML tags in Word

For that you could use:

Code:
Sub UpdateOpenDocuments()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Dim wdDoc As Document
For Each wdDoc In Documents
With wdDoc.Range.Find
.Text = ""
.Forward = True
.Wrap = wdFindContinue
.Format = False
.MatchCase = True
.MatchWholeWord = False
.MatchWildcards = False
.MatchSoundsLike = False
.MatchAllWordForms = False
.ClearFormatting
.Font.Bold = True
With .Replacement
.ClearFormatting
.Text = "<b>^&</b>"
.Font.Bold = False
End With
.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll
.ClearFormatting
.Font.Italic = True
With .Replacement
.ClearFormatting
.Text = "<i>^&</i>"
.Font.Italic = False
End With
.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll
.ClearFormatting
.Font.Underline = True
With .Replacement
.ClearFormatting
.Text = "<u>^&</u>"
.Font.Underline = False
End With
.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll
End With
Next
Set wdDoc = Nothing
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub

Hello,

I use the Cute Html Editor to create web pages and lately, the .jpg .gif .bmp extentions arent there at the end of my files when I view them in the program. I have to re-add the extentions every time I rename anything, etc.

Can anyone please tell me how I can set it to show the file extensions? I tried going to Control Panel/Folders but I couldnt find anything there for that.

To show File Extensions in Windows Explorer

Open any folder.
Press ALT and go to the tools menu
Open Folder Options
Go to the View Tab
Uncheck "Hide File extensions for known file types"
Hope that's the answer to the question you were asking.

I have a report in Access 2003 that I wish to email using Outlook 2007. The report is set up to force a new page for each school. I've written a macro to send the pages as separate HTML files to email but all the files are appearing on the same email.

Is there a way of attaching each HTML file to a separate email, and even picking up the email address in the To box from the email address on each page of the report?

Help please.

I've got several hundred word documents that I need to do some formatting on. I need to go through them and insert html tags into the document as per below...

a short bold text line

becomes

a short < b >bold text< / b > line

Minus the spaces of course.

At the moment I really only need bold, italic, underline, and unordered lists.

Does anyone know of the easiest and most efficient way of doing this? (Or some macro code?)

I don't have much experience in Word, but currently looking at writing a macro.

Hi,

You could use a macro like the following. It processes all file in the selected folder.

Code:
Sub UpdateDocuments()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Dim strFolder As String, strFile As String, wdDoc As Document
strFolder = GetFolder
If strFolder = "" Then Exit Sub
strFile = Dir(strFolder & "\*.doc", vbNormal)
While strFile <> ""
Set wdDoc = Documents.Open(FileName:=strFolder & "\" & strFile, AddToRecentFiles:=False, Visible:=False)
With ActiveDocument.Range.Find
.Text = ""
.Forward = True
.Wrap = wdFindContinue
.Format = False
.MatchCase = True
.MatchWholeWord = False
.MatchWildcards = False
.MatchSoundsLike = False
.MatchAllWordForms = False
.ClearFormatting
.Font.Bold = True
With .Replacement
.ClearFormatting
.Text = "<b>^&</b>"
.Font.Bold = False
End With
.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll
.ClearFormatting
.Font.Italic = True
With .Replacement
.ClearFormatting
.Text = "<i>^&</i>"
.Font.Italic = False
End With
.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll
.ClearFormatting
.Font.Underline = True
With .Replacement
.ClearFormatting
.Text = "<u>^&</u>"
.Font.Underline = False
End With
.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll
End With
wdDoc.Close SaveC... Read more

Hi,

I saved an email in a personal folder with some plain text like username/password details.

When I open the email today, it all turned to lot of html tags and I see my text is inside the html tags.

How to change back to plain text?

I previously used Firefox, but had some problems connecting to a couple of my favourite websites. They'd just be interminably slow to open and it became a huge annoyance.

So I recently installed Opera 10 and am just getting to grips with it, fixing some annoying defaults (like Password Manager).
I've come across a couple of niggles, and wonder if anyone here can help.

First problem occurs when posting / editing / quoting messages on internet forums. In Internet Explorer and in Firefox, I can see rendered images, smilies and text formatting as I'm writing. I can use CTRL + B to bold etc.
Using Opera, images don't appear - I just see the image's address inside [ IMG ] [ /IMG ] HTML tags. Smilies and text formatting, the same.

This means I have to Preview messages to make sure things look as I intend them to. This is awkward when there's a lot of formatting in a message.
Is there a way to make Opera show images and formatting in forum posts whilst I'm editing, not just after I've posted?
The second issue is to do with the wee icons next to my bookmarks. I have everything checked under Delete Private Data, but unfortunately this deletes the bookmark icons too.
I'm wondering if I uncheck "Clear bookmark visited time" if this would retain the icons? And what exactly is "bookmark visited time"? I don't want to retain any sort of log of when I or other users of the PC visited particular websites, especially ... Read more

I'm not sure if it because the files are 2003 or not? When I try to open them an error message appears stating, "...the file you are trying to open is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source..." These are my files. The interesting thing is that if I try to open the same file that I have saved within the last year (before I got 2007) then I can do it? That is, I have a cache folder of files that I go get to do calculations then save in a new job folder. The ones in the new job folder will open (also 2003), but the ones in the original cache will not? I would truly appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

A:Can't open 2003 Excel Files in Excel 2007?

Have you attempted to set them up in 'Compatibility Mode." Not sure if this will help, just hoping it will. I have been testing the new Microsoft Office 2010 Beta 64 bit, and have yet to have this problem, and like you I have a great deal of files in 2003 (never used 2007)'

I think you can still download MS Office 2010 beta from Microsoft's download site. Good Luck.

BTW, Welcome To The Seven Forums.

okay, I have a file in microsoft excel. I have a column in there for a
description. However, my resource of all the descriptions are in html files.

All that is in the file is the description., I also need to be able to match up either the name of the html file or one
of the numbers in the html file to a catalog number in excel so that the
right description gets put on the same line as the item. The title of the
html file is the same as the item # inside the html file. Is there anyway to
pull the text out of the html files, with still keeping the model # or
whatever in excel?

(i.e. file number is 12345, and I have a column in excel with the same number 12345. I would like to be able to match the neumbers up so they would be in different columns but on the same line.

I will send anyone the files, if they want to take as look at the files, etc... Please let me know if you understand what I am
talking about. I know there may be othe rprogs out there, or even excel . I
kjnow its pretty powerful.

the column I want the description to go into would either be column F or G.

I would ike it if the # in the column for images could be matched up to the number of the file, or # inside of file, to column F or G. SO I do not have to sort all of these 1 by 1.
But be able to paste them all in the oprder of that #.

Also, if this is possible, to be able to take as many of ther html files at
one time, SO I do not have to do all of them 1 by 1. I have around 22,000
products I have to do this... Read more

but now my Mp3 Tags are not showing. I reedited with my tagscanner (very nice software) and saved them but they still don't show. Any ideas anyone?
