Preferred Solution: How to install a Wireless PCI Card on Lenovo Thinkcentre M800 ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Unfortunatelly your M800 have a whitelist in BIOS, which prevents booting with unauthorized devices, like your TP-link module. Sadly, you won't be able to use it. Has anyone tried installing a PNY NVS 810 graphics card in a ThinkCentre M800? When I put it in, I can see the BIOS screen (and can go into BIOS and change settings), but after that the computer seems to freeze. Screen is blank and no disk activity. I have tried putting the card in another computer and it booted fine. Also, I replaced the power supply with a 520w unit. No change. Waiting to hear back from either Lenovo or PNY support.

I registried this account just want to come here and tell the story.  On Oct. 6, 2016, I placed an order for ThinkCentre M800 SFF. I waited around 2 months and got two emails from Lenovo: the first email said my order was shipped, and later an email said my order was delivered successfully. But I didn't not recieve anything! So I called Lenovo and asked the status of my order. One representive answered my phone and comforted me that it should not be lost, and promised to contact me later. But I never received any follow up.  So I waited a few more days, and called Lenovo again, I was told that my order was cancelled because they failed to deliever it to my home, and they would return me the money. The Lenovo representtive kept saying they contacted me. I didn't receive any call, email, or paper notice in my mail box.  I asked for prove, no result. Later, I placed a new order and hoped they could deliver the already built machine to me soon. A few days later (December), I got a mail from Lenovo for that cancelled order, they charged me 15% re-storaging fee. I called Lenovo representive again (it really took a long time to call in, around 1 hour each time). A representive answered my call but told me that they couldn't waive the re-storing fee. I asked for them to prove that the delivery company contacted me (as I said, I didn't receive any notification for deliver, no call, no email, no mail, no paper notice in my mail box). They co... OK, I bought an M800 with the 2.5" HDD caddy. I went to add the 2.5" HDD and I can only find the SATA power but there is no data cable. Am I supposed to go out and buy the internal SATA cable? It isn't included when you buy the 2.5" HDD caddy? Seems a little strange that they include the SATA power plug but not the data cable. I did look around inside the M800 and there is definitely an open SATA port on the motherboard. I just could not find a spare internal SATA cable.

I need to install extra hard disks into ThinkCenter M800 desktop. There is one drive bay at the bottom and I think there are two drive bays at the top. The one at thebottom is same as the one drive bay that is having the drive that came with the system. But the two top drive bays are kind of much wider. What do I need to install harddisks into these drive bays? Do I need some special part to install harddisks into the drive bays? Any help is much appreciated.

The GTX 750 Ti could work with a SFF M92p.   Upgrade to the latest BIOS beforehand, CD ISO method is most reliable.   Check that there aren't any taller heatsinks on the motherboard that could interfere with the graphics card (refer to photos of the card.)

Since your system is older, to ensure the necessary airflow, clean the front air intake and fan with vacuum and canned compressed air, jam the fan with a cable tie or similar so it can't spin and over-speed.  Same for CPU fan and heat sink, and vac the intake and rear exhaust of the power supply.

I can confirm that this MSI brand low-profile  GTX 750 Ti 2GB  card works perfectly in my M93p SFF machine without upgrading the PSU:   MSI N750-Ti-2GD5TLP

Measuring the power draw running Prime95 (CPU benchmark) , FurMark (GPU benchmark) , charging mobile phone via USB and copying large files at the same time , it stays below 190W.   Have been running this for several hours. I have also been playing Fallout 4 (FullHD, ultra textures, 60 FPS) for 100 hours without any problems.   As the case is quite compact, I was worried about the temperature but it stays below 80C for the GPU at full power over extended periods of time (about 25C ambient temp in the room).

Installation is ok. Just mount the low profile bracket and move the PCIe 1x WiFi card (if you have one) into another slot.  Preferably le... Read more

I've been recommending the GT 1030 here for some time as the best low-power graphics adapter (30w.)   It is now listed in the readme file for the Nvidia driver (2018 releases - M92p example) on the Lenovo support website as a supported card.

It is known to work in systems going back to the M90p generation.  And while it is available as a full-height card, most are low-profile cards, suitable for SFF systems.  Be sure the check the length of space available in a SFF, especially for the M710s & M910s models, before you decide to buy, to ensure you get one short enough.

The GT 1030 has twice the performance as the GT 730 (the previous best 30w low-power Nvidia card, which this replaces), and has important new graphics card features, such as DX 12 and 4K HDMI, and support for PureVideo HD 8 and Feature set H.

Not long ago I purchased an M800 Tower PC. Now I am looking to upgrade some of its parts for gaming. The power supply currently is 250W a FSP250-30AGBAA (or is it SP50A36171, I can't tell). The motherboard is an iq1x0ms, which I would rather not change. My problem is I am looking to install an EVGA gtx 1060 GPU, but am not sure if: a) it will fit the motherboard b) the power supply is adequate or needs to be upgraded c) I will need some sort of 24-pin to 10-pin adapter to fit an alternate power supply to the motherboard. P.S: as a side note I don't believe the current power supply has the connectors needed to install a GPU anyway. Please help, thanks.

Hey guys, we are using a few ThinkCentre M800 with Windows 7 (Enterprise x64) and are facing the following problem: Several USB 3.0 devices (usb stick or external hard disk) are not detected, if they are connected to an USB 3.0 port. Not detected means, that Windows only says, that the media is not formatted and suggests to format it.On an USB 2.0 port (or with an USB 2.0 hub connected between desktop and storage device), everything works fine.  An intresting fact is, that if the (not correctly detected) device is formatted on a M800 again, the device works fine on every other M800 desktop. I have already reinstalled the USB 3.0 driver and Intel Chipset driver and also updated the BIOS to the lastest version (FWKT63A), but it does not change the behaviour. // by the way it is not an option to reformat every available hard disk here to use it on the M800 ;-) additional note: the USB 3.0 devices are working fine on e.g. ThinkPad T460, T460s etc. on their USB 3.0 ports. Anyone with an idea to use existing USB 3 devices without reformatting? Thanks in advance!

Hello, I am having the same issue with my M800 that someone else had with a M900 in the post below.... https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Enterprise-Client-Management/M900-Lenovo-Application-Interface-driver-n...In that post it was mentioned....."the Lenovo Application Interface driver ACPI\LEN4001 does install via task sequence properly with the latest SCCM Pack linked above, however, the APS driver for Windows ACPI\LEN4002 will have to be downloaded, extracted and then imported into your MDT/SCCM driver repository manually at this time. Optionally, you can install it via task sequence using "setup.exe -s" I downloaded the stand-alone copy of the same driver from here.... http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds035697 and ran the exe, but nothing changed in Device Manager. My question is where can I download the Windows ACPI\LEN4002 to replace the current ACPI\LEN4001 that came in the SCCM driver pack for the M800? Thank you,wwill93

I am attempting to add wireless to an M800SFF, Model# 10FYCT01WW.  I am competent with boards and such.  Many of the parts are marked as "FRU" in support documentation, but I cannot locate a Lenovo authorized outfit that will even respond to my inquiries.  From perusing these forums I purchased the following parts: 01AJ815 PCI/PCIe card, 00JT497 adapter, 04X2745 front antenna, 03T7203 rear antenna. I opened the box today to install and it seems I am still missing a few required parts:(1) screw to seat the adapter onto the riser card (I know this is silly, but does anyone know specs of this screw?)(1) cable for the rear antenna.  I cannot find this part number anywhere.(1) "Riser card USB header cable", PN# 03T6556.  I am unclear if I need this for WiFi, or if it is required only for Bluetooth functionality.  From photos, this cable appears to carry power.  So, is it required to power the 01AJ815? Apologies if this is redundant; I haven't seen these items mentioned in any other thread addressing the addition of WiFi to this model. Any and all direction from more experienced folks appreciated! Mike

I would try resetting the BIOS using the jumper, or by taking out the CMOS battery, wait a minute or two, and then replace it and try booting up. See page 73 of the Hardware Maintenance Manaul linked below for location of the Clear CMOS/Recovery jumper (# 20) https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/m83m93p_hmm.pdf Clearing the CMOS (BIOS)1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer. 2. Remove the computer cover. 3. Locate the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper on the system board. 4. Move the jumper from the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2) to the maintenance position (pin 2 and pin 3). 5. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. 6. Turn on the computer and leave it on for approximately 10 seconds. Then, turn off the computer by holding the power switch for approximately five seconds. 7. Repeat step 1 through step 2. 8. I am having an issue getting past this one roadblock on getting a fresh install of Window 7 Enterprise on a newly purchased M800z All-in-One ThinkCentre.  I have done what research I can on the problem but I still cannot find a solution to get the Keyboard and Mouse to respond when I get to the Choose a Language screen during installation.  I have tried a number of solutions including the one described here https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25476/Windows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility.---snip---
Purpose

Windows 7* installation media doesn't include native driver support for USB 3.0, so during installation, when you get to the screen to select your preferred language, a keyboard or mouse connected to a USB 3.0 port does not respond.

This Windows 7 USB 3.0 Creator Utility automates the process to update a Windows 7 installation image to include USB 3.0 drivers.
---end snip---
I have also used instruction to update the WIM files with little success as well.  Anyone have any ideas what I can try next?

Not a necessity...you can have both adapters in the computer at the same time...not unless, you're able to verify that they are conflicting in terms of resources that they're using.

Hi all, Lenovo Z70-80.   Frequently dropping wireless internet connection.  Ran the Lenovo diagnostic tool.  Support told me I needed a new wireless card.  Several WEEKS later it arrived... New card looks a bit different and larger and has more pins but still fit in the slot. With the new card when I boot the machine I get (before windows or anything else loads):"Unathorized Wireless network card is plugged in. Power off and remove it" Get back on the phone with support and was given 2 options - either sending the machine away for who knows how long or reinstalling the operating system which I don't understand how it will work if the machine won't boot to windows! Neither really work for me since the machine is used everyday all day for work. Any advice on what to do - or who at Lenovo I need to beg for a proper wifi card? Thanks in advance! Old CardNew Card

Hi! I have a problem with my notebook Lenovo Z50-70 type 80E7. Bought in Estonia (Europe). The problem is that wifi does not work properly. When I boot up my notebook it cannot find any wireless networks, but they are there. All the other devices can find them and connect. When I put my notebook to sleep (close the lid) and wake it from sleep it then can find all available networks and is able to connect to them and works fine. And it is like that every time I boot my laptop. I reinstalled windows (windows 7) and installed all the drivers and installed right  version of Energy Management. Turned wifi on by pressing F7. I have it running on background and something called utility.exe is running also. I read it is needed for this too. But it is still doing the same thing. Could it be failing wifi card or maybe some settings in windows or in my router? Because I used this laptop in my other home for a day after windows installation and it worked fine, but when I got back to my first home it was acting up in the same way again. Every other device in my home works on the same wifi very well. We have 2 smartphones, 1 tablet and 1 Acer laptop and no problems with them. Only my laptop needs go to sleep and wake from it in order to use wifi. And the fact is that my laptop worked on the same wifi before it started doing this just fine. And another question. I ordered new wireless card hoping it would work better and have 5GHz wifi support. The card is:35020606NBC LV ... Read more

Currently my Lenovo G50-70 has a qualcomm atheros ar956x that has severely poor performance, so I wanted to upgrade to a Wireless AC adapter. after recieving the part listed as "WirelessLan_Intel, Intel 3160 1x1AC+BT PCIE NGFF WLAN" in the HMM, it booted to a screen that said "Unauthorized wireless card, please power off and unplug". So in finding that this card didnt work, I ordered the part listed as "Ltn NFA345 AC+BT4.0 PCIE M.2 WLAN Card For Lenovo B50 Series ,FRU 04X6023 20200579" and had the same result. After messaging the lenovo cs twitter and having them tell me Im basically SoL I decided to make a forum account. Can anyone help? My BIOS and drivers are all at the most current version. I can supply any additional information needed. Included are photos of the current and new cards, the new one has a green dot on it

My Lenovo M58 (small form factor) has a PCIEX16. According to Lenovo website it is "One half-length, low profile-height, PCI Express x16". I want to install TP-Link TL-WN781ND wireless card which is PCI express x1 version 2.0 and it's low profile bracket (saw the box in a local shop).I've seen some forum posts and Wikipedia to find x1 can be fit into x16 slot. I'm more concerned about "half-length" part.So will it fit? Thanks.

I'm planning to buy this laptop: http://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/ideapad-700-series/Lenovo-IdeaPad-720S-14IKB/p/80XC0047... But the Wireless on this laptop is 1x1. I wanted to know if I could replace that card with a faster Intel 8265 card.
