Annoying Run-Time error popping up

Q: Annoying Run-Time error popping up

Dear Bleeping Computer.com,

I have a client with Windows 8.1, and each time we try to open up one particular program, a message pops up saying:

"Run-time Error "91"
"Objective variable or With block variable not set"

So far I've done:

5 different virus scans/removals
Registry tune ups
Restored system to 30 days in the past
Microsoft FixIt
Driver updates
Windows Updates
sfc  /scannow
chkdsk /r/f

Still pops up.

What causes it, how do I fix it?  My client needs this program to functions. She uses it for her Rotary Club.

Thank you all for advice!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

What exactly is this program?  Are Windows Updates caught up?  Ok, barring telemetry & WU-W10 KBs.  If this particular program was working for a long time, now it doesn't, something was changed.  I'm wondering something within Microsoft Visual or .net framework, dunno.

A:Annoying Ads Popping Up

Since my first post things have got alot worst. My internet has slowed to such a stage that it takes a good 5 minutes just to load this page, my computer is still at its normal speed though its just the internet.

The ads are becoming more frequent and of an adult nature, before they were about Registry Defender, in fact ones just popped up about an Av Scan, which now means my children can't use the computer.

Hope someone can help.

The best way to explain my problem is probably a picture, so I attached exactly what my problem looks like

but the lowdown, basically, after a while, maybe a day or two, a new one of these little boxes pops, and they're starting to get annoying, if I restart, they go away, but then come back again at roughly 2 day intervals, one by one

has anyone seen this before? It's really odd

I'll post my Hijack This log, too, although I just purged it of crap recently, so I don't think there's a problem in there...

I am running windows XP pro /Firefox browser ...and for a few days this message keeps popping up every few minutes.
"Microsoft Feeds Synchronization has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I have turned off the windows firewall...
I did google the problem and a few people said to do the following in IE:
tools/internet options/content/settings..then untick the automatic feed thingy.
I can't do that however, because the "settings" box is greyed out.

Can you help please?
Regards
pammy37

A:Solved: annoying message keeps popping up

You are looking at the settings button in the Feeds section at the bottom, and not under Content Advisor? Note that you won't have a feeds section if you have not installed IE7.

Though if you haven't installed IE7, you shouldn't have the Microsoft Feeds Synchronization software. If you installed IE7 then uninstalled it, it may not have completely uninstalled. In that case, you may need to re-install IE7 then uninstall it again.

I keep getting this annoying message that comes up every so often. It says "Wireless Intermediate Miniport Driver (wsimd.dll) has been blocked from accessing the network." This is accompanies by a loud ding noise. Mostly this seems to pop up when I'm playing games and always minimizes my game and sends me to the desk top.

I have sysgate personal firewall and wsimd.dll is allowed access, so I don't know why this message keeps coming up. How do I stop it?

A:Annoying Message keeps popping up (wsimd.dll)

Check Device Manager, click "show hidden devices" and make sure all the device drivers are installed correctly. Uninstall any that are not, and reboot.

Also, check Event Viewer. Look for chronic and/or signficant errors in "Applications" and "System".

Hi, so very recently I started getting a message to "Update my Internet Explorer" (I can't even remember the last time I used IE >_< ) from a very fake looking page with a url of hxxp://www.lpmxp2171.com with a whole bunch of never ending numbers and letters after that. I have not clicked on it or anything other than closing it, however it is literally popping up on my desktop every 5-15 mins at max.I am using Microsoft Security Essentials right now and it hasn't found anything suspicious nor have I let anything install. How can I get this annoying ad to go away? I tried looking in remove programs, task manager, some areas of windows explorer and haven't found much of anything suspicious just yet. Please let me know if anyone can help me with this. Thank you!

I'm on an Asus 1005HA with Windows7 Starter. This problem was not happening when the netbook was new, but now every time it starts, a file tries to open -- and a dialog box appears asking which program to open it with. The checkbox for "always open this type of file with this program" is grayed out, uncheckable.

I chose Notepad to open it to see what it was, but usually I just X it closed. When I look at in Notepad it shows an "Interface List" (see below for the complete, exact text it shows)

The file name seems to choose for itself the last name of the primary user of the netbook (my wife in this case).

I wish I could somehow stop this from appearing. Guessing it's probably easy if you only know where to go to find the right check box.

Thanks for any help.

A:Annoying "Interface List" popping up during startup

Considering you simply asked for it to not pop up, we should be able to make that happen.
First, Check your startup folder.
(I call the windows orb start, I dunno if its just me, or if its everyone)
Start>All Programs> Startup
When you are in the All Programs section, just scroll down and look for Startup. Open that folder and see whats in it (Tell us in your next reply, what is in the startup folder)

If nothing is in the startup folder, then we go to msconfig
With Win7, you can just type msconfig into the start menus search bar, then hit enter.

Startup tab, of course, and in your next reply, tell us what is in the msconfig startup tab.

We can tell you what and what not to remove from startup ;)

My downstairs neighbor came to me with a problem: Windows would not come up, he could not access his programs or the Internet. He has an old Compaq Presario. So
I went to the last good known configuration and a window popped up that said, "The software you are installing for this hardware, ACPI Multiprocessor PC, has not
passed Windows logo testing..." So I stopped the installation and took a guess that must have been the root of his problems. I noticed that every time I start up
his computer, that annoying window pops up every time, and so I have to stop the installation every time.

Now let's go to the Control Panel...

Under Computer, it shows an ACPI Uniprocessor PC. iF i click update, it tries to install the multiprocessor that Windows says hasn't passed logo testing. Same
thing for Scan for Hardware Changes. For Rollback Driver, no previous drivers are found.

Under Processors, two Intel processors are found.

Soooooo...how do I get rid of the annoying window that prompts me to continue or discontinue the multiprocessor installation? I really don't want to tell him,
"Well, gee, you have to press 'Stop Installation' before you can pass go and collect $200!"

A:How to stop an annoying installation window from popping up?

Update all the drivers from the computer's Manufacture's support page trustingly.
ie If Windows prompt it hasn't passed the logo testing, just continue the install (allowing anyway)
Any issues (ie computer now does not work (unlikely as it is)
Just press F8 at Windows startup, and select "Last known good configuration"

Continue on

A:[SOLVED] Annoying Roxio Update Keeps Popping Up!

No need for a HJT log. Roxio Update Manager is not malware, only HIGHLY annoying.

http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=...0020GN&PARAMS=

Quote:

This can also be an error of the Update Manager unsuccessfully attempting to update itself. To update, remove this program using the Add/Remove Programs control panel. It will be called either "Roxio Update Manager" or "Sonic Update Manager". Then download the latest version here and install.

If you decide to permanently remove the Update Manager, it will not affect the performance of any Sonic or Roxio software currently installed on the system.

If Update Manager fails to uninstall, corruption has occurred that prevents removal. You will have to manually remove Update Manager:

Download and install Microsoft Cleanup Utility located here.
Run the application and select Sonic (or Roxio) Update Manager, and select Remove.
Go to My Computer --> C:\\Program Files\Sonic. If there is a folder named Update Manager, right click on it and select delete.
Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\<--user name-->\Application Data\Sonic and delete the "Update Manager" folder.

NOTE: You may need to enable hidden files. Do this within Windows Explorer by going to Tools --> Folder Options --> View tab and select Show Hidden Files and Folders.

I have Vistas premium home version 64 bit, service pack 2 and Internet Explorer 8. I have just been through a great deal of help on another forum and my problem is pretty well solved except for one thing (which is happening less but still happening a bit). At the bottom of my screen (no matter what I'm doing) I get a flashing section that says something like 0% downloading and when I click it I see a box that comes from avideos.5min.com and it's asking me if I want to run or save the file or use the internet to find the program it comes from. It says it's an unknown file. I just keep clicking cancel and it goes away for a while and then later I get another such thing. I googled a bit and am wondering if this is coming from Adobe flash player or something. Is there some simple way to reset something that will stop this from happening?

A:Annoying download file boxes popping up uninvited

avideos.com - is an online search program usually for advertising products.
Download Security Check by screen317 from.
http://screen317.spywareinfoforum.org/
Or
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/securitycheck/

Save it to your Desktop.
Double click the install icon.
If using Vista - Win 7 - right click the install icon and select "Run as Administrator"
A command Prompt window will open.
Let it scan the Pc - press any key when asked.
It should now open in Notepad.
Copy and Paste the result of the scan in the reply box below.

The saved log will be called checkup.txt.
======
Download AdwCleaner to your desktop.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
Click on the Download Now @BleepingComputer button and save it to your desktop.

NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and you get an alert that stops the program downloading click on Smartscreen Filter > Turn off Smartscreen Filter then click on OK in the box that opens. Then click on the link again.

Close any browsers that may be open - double click on the ADWCleaner icon on your desktop

Click on the Scan button.
Let it scan your Pc - when that is done click on the Report button.
The report will appear on your desktop - Copy and Paste it into your next post.

I have used a string of programs, the latest being Spybot, to deal with this problem, but none of these has made the slightest difference in removing CiD adds. How do I stop these CiD adverts from invading my PC for good??

A:Numerous CiD adverts popping up all the time

i had this problem m8 and all you have to do, is go in to 'control panel', then access 'add/change programs' and remove 'CID help'. You've inadvertently installed this program through another one m8, pretty gay i know.

Happy Holidays!

My computer got infected with some virus. Radio sounds are playing on my computer and I cannot turn it off (unless I unplug from the internet). I saw what might be simiar problems posted on youtube, but no real solutions seem to be posted there. Sometimes it seems like many "stations" are playing at the same time. Before the radio starts to play, I can hear clicks - not sure why. Also, at the time I got infected, a bunch of windows oppened taking me to some virus removal site. (At the time, my virus program was out of date - it will not happen again) I'm not getting those pop ups anymore, but I am getting Just in time debugger windows constantly poping up.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

On my Dell laptop, I have the problem of Quick Search Bar (F3 or Ctrl+F) popping up all the time and take over the PC. That is, for example, when I am typing on the search box of Google Chrome, suddenly Quick Search Bar pops up and the text starts getting typed there. Then, because text is in the search bar, it starts searching the Chrome page that is open. So I cannot proceed further, typing in the search box of Google Chrome. When I close the search bar, it appears again. The same is with Windows explorer. The seach bar on the top right hand side of Windows Explorer gets activated and it starts flickering with the words I had typed earlier for searching.

I have Avast antivirus in the laptop. I also installed UnThreat Free Antivirus (UFA). UFA found a trojan and quarantined it. TDSSKiller did not find anything in the laptop. Running Malwarebytes in Safe Mode also did not help. Scanning with 360 Total Security did not find any malware.

In fact, I reinstalled Windows 7 as a clean install.

But this problem of Quick Search Bar is not going away. It is a nuisance. I disabled Windows Search completely by going to 'Turn Windows Services On or Off'.

Request help in getting the nuisance off my laptop.

Hi there jennifah

Welcome to TSF

Thank you for your patience. I will be helping you deal with the issues raised in your log from this point onwards

Before we start jumping into things, here is a quick basic note which I mention to everyone. The fix which I have provided for you is for this computer only, it should not be used on any other computer. Each fix is tailor made for the specific task in hand. If for some reason you have system restore disabled, then please re-enable it before proceeding, an infected restore is better than none. Please read through the fix first and set enough time aside to complete the task in one session. If there is anything you feel needs clarification then please ask - do not guess! Please copy and paste any requested logs into replies rather than add as attachments, this makes it easier for analysis.

If this is a computer from a work place then please advise your IT department of the concerning issues before commencing past this point.

Please follow these directions in the order they are set out for you.

Please scan with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

Everytime I open Windows Media Player, Malwarebytes pops up with a message that says, "Malwarebytes has successfully blocked IP 213.174.154.144". I did some research and that IP apparently leads to a filthy malicious site. The thing is though is that I've ran a full scan with MB and it comes up as nothing infected and I did a full scan with Super Anti-Spyware and it didn't show anything infected either. So it must be hidden well because it keeps popping up EVERYTIME I open WMP. Please help.

Thank you.

This also started happening to me today, out of the blue, each time I open WMP. It is version 11, running on an XP SP3 machine. Not too worried at this point since MBAM is detecting and blocking access to the IP, but would like to know more about what's causing it. Will be tracking this thread for ongoing developments and info.

Hello ben96,Disclaimer: I haven't personally tried this as I don't find the Charms Bar a problem.Various features of the Charms bar can be tweaked via the registry.  This site: Windows 8 - Kill the Charms Bar provides an explanation of features that can be modified as well as a link to download a package of "reg" files to turn that behavior on and off.  The link is a the end of the article.  It is always important to create a new system restore point before modifying the Windows registry.

Hi all,

First, I'd like to apologize if I posted this in the wrong area. Ever since the first of the year I've been getting an extremely annoying window that pops up every, yes... EVERY half an hour. 29 minutes after the hour, and then 59 minutes after the hour. I'm not sure if it's adware, malware, spyware or what. My suspicion is that it's just a program that is trying to access the internet but there's some type of error. Anyways... on to the log.

Hello and welcome to the forums! My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. I am very sorry for the delay in responding, but as you can see we are at the moment being flooded with logs which, when paired with the never-ending shortage of helpers, resulted in the delayed responding to your thread.I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed. If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forums. Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer. If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Hi all, new member here... found this site from a google search for one of the folders that keeps getting created in the start menu.

my problem is i keep getting popups every 5 minutes or so, new icons keep appearing on my desktop, and new folders are being created in my start menu.

i don't know how this happened as i'm usually pretty careful about not doing anything harmful to my computer.

i run windows xp, service pack 2. foxfire. i've run adaware and spybot but i don't know if it's helping, it'll remove most of the items and when i restart and run it again it finds just as many

anyone have any advice?? it sucks playing games when the damn game minimizes every 3 minutes for some popup

edit: i see everyone is posting hijackthis logs so here's mine

Ok my brother some how despite denying it downloaded someone called lycos search bar assistant now every time i restart my pc it's on my toolbar and the only way to get rid of it is to right click go to toolbars and uncheck search assistant any idea how i can get rid of this i already uninstalled the lycos software

A:Annoying search bar i get ever time i restart

Please do this. Click here: http://www.sherrylynn.us/HijackThis.exe to download Hijack This. It’s very important that you save it to its own folder on your hard drive, such as program files (not temporary files or the desktop), so that it can create proper back-ups and be able to restore them if necessary.

Close all open windows and open Hijack This. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and then save it to NotePad. Click on “Edit” – “Select all” – “copy” and then “paste” into the thread.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed. Wait for someone to analyze the log and advise.

I am new to this so bear with me.

I am running Windows XP2 and have had AVG and now have Windows security essentials installed.  I also installed malwarebytes and scanned for viruses.  Nothing I do gets rid of the annoying pop up at the middle of the bottom of my explorer pages each time I move to a new page.

When I right click on this image and click on properties I get the following...http://content.yieldmanager.edgesuite.net/atoms/20/86/7d/d6/20867dd63c93321414b484a4c7375236.gif

What is this and how do I get rid of it?
