Q: maximum supported RAM for N6B12EA#ABF - HP Notebook - 17-p00...

Hi, Looking to the Laptop description, I always find 8gb Ram. The diagnostic tools on the startup mention that only one Ram is inserted in slot2 and slot 1 is free. The existing inserted RAM module is a Hynix HMT41GS6BFR8A-PB 8gb RAM DDR3 1600MHz. On purchase RAM site, I found the exact same part number and seems that the supported maximum amount for this laptop is 16Gb.Where all documentation I found on HP website mention 8gb. Why HP will put only One RAM of 8gb and leaving a empty slot where the maximum is already reached ? Also i found on some doc : MemoryTwo SODIMM slots - NON customer accessible / upgradeable So i would like a firm confirmation that I cannot upgrade from 1*8 Gb to 2*8Gb I need 16Gb for performing some virtualization on the laptop. Thanks in advance. Steve

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Maximum supported ram?
does this mean the maximum amount of ram the computer could possibly ever handle or just the maximum amount available given available slots and configurations?

the computer I am asking about is the HP slimline S 3120n with the Athlon 64 x2 2.2 GHz with 2 gig of ram (is this all the ram this puppy is capable of?)

A:maximum supported ram

Yes that is what it means. I also went an checked the spec's on the H.P. website 2 gig is it.

From the notebook's manual, it supports 16GB. When you configure it prior to purchase, that would be the best time to make sure it had 16GB.   Upgrading the memory on your own involves some risk since it requires a great deal of disassembly of the notebook to access the soDIMM slots. "MemoryTwo SODIMM slots - NON customer accessible / upgradeableDDR3L-1600 Dual Channel SupportSupports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the followingconfigurations:?16384-MB total system memory (8192×2)?12288-MB total system memory (8192×1) + (4096×1)?8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)?6144-MB total system memory (4096×1) + (2048×1)?4096-MB total system memory (4096×1) or (2048×2)"

If the U410 has two RAM slots, why is it not possible to upgrade from two 4gb chips to two 8gb chips for a maximum of 16gb? What prevents the other 8gb from being supported?

A:Why is the maximum supported memory on the U410 8g...

Based on the spec of U410 the maximum supported memory is "8GB max/ PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3, non-parity,dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets - * System automatically clocks down for processors with 1333MHz DDR3 memory controller". Based on this the maximum memory to be used in a system is dependent on the processor used. You may want to dig some more info on this issue, so head on to Intel's website and lookup your processor model number to determine the maximum memory that it is capable of addressing. And there are numerous questions similar to yours if you search their forum.

I have a 5 - 6 year old Compaq Presario 5900T desktop with an Intel Pentium III 733 MHz processor and Windows XP SP2. The last BIOS update for it was released in 03-06-2001 and is installed.

According to the HP and Crucial site, the maximum supported amount of RAM is 384 MB. The Crucial site does make note that a BIOS update can alter that amount.

According to the Kingston and MemoryX sites, the maximum supported amount of RAM is 768 MB.

I currently have 320 MB of RAM(128 - 128 - 64) in this computer. Because I now have Windows XP SP2 in it instead of Windows 98SE, I would like to increase the RAM amount to 512 MB by replacing the 64 MB module with a 256 MB module.

Does anyone out there have personal knowledge if this computer does support 768 MB of RAM before I go through the trouble and expense of buying and installing a 256 MB module?

Looking into buying the Lenovo 510s, I see "Up to 8GB" listed as supported memory. However, I've done some research and some Lenovo laptops, while they also only support 8GB of memory officially, can be and have been safely upgraded to 16 GB of RAM. My question is: Is this true of the 510s? The CPU specifications page from Intel for the 6200U/6500U both say 16 GB is no problem, and Crucial even has a 16GB dimm listed as "guaranteed compatible" for this model--I'm not sure, though, if this means it will work but only recognize 8 GB or if 16 GB is truly Ok. Is there any reason 16 GB could not be used? Perhaps some motherboard memory controller limitation? I would love to have some input on this before deciding on whether or not to purchase this laptop. Thanks!

Hi, I ordered PAVALION 15-AU116TX laptop and I have below questions for the Memory upgrade. 1) It has 7th Gen Core i5 and I went through the specs for that(http://ark.intel.com/products/95443/Intel-Core-i5-7200U-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-3_10-GHz). It clearly says that processor can support upto 32GB of RAM. - When I checked with HP Consumer support they informed me that maximum supported memory is 16GB only. Can you please clarify on this? 2) If I install additional memory(considering it'll support 32GB, I'm planning to add 16GB of additional memory) will my warranty be void? 3) What is the motherboard configuration with above laptop? Regards,Ankur

A:HP PAVALION 15-AU116TX(Maximum supported Memory)

@ankurtr? Your correct that 16GB is the maximum memory supported for your laptop. As far as warranty goes some say it would void the warranty some say it would not. I think of it as this if you add the memory yourself and nothing gets damaged then the warranty is still good. But if you damage something doing it yourself then the Damage is not covered. REO

Hi, Your machine currentl has 8GB, it may have 24GB of mSATA on the mSATA slot for IRST:          Support for 24 GB mSATA SSD (not available on computer models equipped with 16834 MB or 12288 MB system memory or with a 256 GB or 512 GB SSD) Does your machine run RST ? If no, you can use mSATA slot. Regards.

I have an E6420, i7-2760 2.4Mhz,8MB, OS-W7- 64bit.......used for business when traveling to examine and mark up ACAD drawings usually viewed in the office on a Precision Work Station with 32GB and a big screen.  My question to anyone who knows is this. Dell technical support has told me on more than one occasion that this machine supports a maximum of 8GB period. That it is a waste of time to upgrade to 16GB because the system won't support it. I really don't want to experiment if its true. More often than not initial technical responses I've received over the years from DELL have been wrong so it pays to be persistant until convinced.
I'd like to put 2-8GB chips in it betting that additional RAM will speed up screen regenerations given the video processor is what it is. Anyway, if anyone knows if what Dell is telling me is fact please chime in? If anybody knows for sure this laptop and OS is incapable of addressing 16GB please let me know?
If it will accept them I'd like an informed opinion about which speed would be preferred, 1333 or 1666. I understand faster is usually better but if there Is there a latency issue perhaps one is a better fit for this machine. If this is a total waste of time and money, I'd like to know that too.
Any constructive advice, opinion&nb... Read more

A:Maximum RAM supported on E6420, i7 Quad Processor laptop running Win 7/64

Crucial is usually a good indicator - they say 8G max.
www.crucial.com/.../listparts.aspx
That doesn't mean 16 won't work - just that they won't guarantee it.
Using RAM over 1333 MHz is pointless.  It won't run any faster.

I'm having a Pavilion  HP DM4 i5 ,  with 6 GB RAM installed. Is it possible to upgrade the RAM to 16 GB - which RAM-Modules do I need then? On the official documents the maximum RAM is 8 GB, but at the time, the documents were made, no 8GB-Modules were available. Does the BIOS support 8GB Modules? The notebook has two slots, so my hope is, if I replace the built in 2x4GB with 2x8GB, I'll have 16 GB of RAM. For what I need this? Running different virtual machines at one time for working. :-) Thanks for your help!

A:Maximum RAM HP 1000 Notebook PC

"HP 1000" covers several models. Can you find the full model number? Here is some help with that: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108  The HP 1000-1xxx series models, for example will take 8 gb of DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM memory in 2 x 4 gb modules. Here is the Service Manual: Manual Memory requirements are on page 3 and installation instructions are on page 48. Here is memory you can buy: http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=HP%201000-1129TU Both the AMD and Intel models in the HP 1000-1xxx series use the same memory and can take up to 8 gb. As long as you get high quality compatible memory you should not blue screen. That is why it is a good idea to buy from crucial.com. And that series will also run 64 bit Windows.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I'm looking to upgrade my laptop with an SSD and to my dismay not only can I not find a way to enable AHCI mode in system UEFI but I'm told that the laptop doesn't support it (which I seriously doubt, but that's another matter.) The particular SSD i'm looking at is marked as an appropriate upgrade by Crucial on the Crucial upgrade advisor page so I feel confident it will work. My questions is whether the SSD's unique requirements will be fully supported since AHCI isn't available and it will be operating in IDE mode. So...my question is...will it still fully support an SSD as required? Specifically: will the SSD's garbage collecting function still work and will the OS still issue TRIM commands through to the SSD?  I suppose I'm content that NCQ probably won't function as it's benefits aren't fully appreciated in a typical single-user, i.e. not a server, work environment.
