I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi clashelaeander, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!

A general-purpose dock like the ThinkPad USB 3.0 Dock will do that. I'm not aware of a replicator/dock made specifically for the Yoga 3 Pro.

Hope this helps!

I want to use my Dell Inspiron 1501 as a desk top.
I want to connect my desktop monitor, and keyboard to my laptop.
If I do can I still use the USB ports on my laptop to connect my mouse, external disc drives,
printer etc or should I connect all devices to a docking station or port replicator?
Should I use a docking station or port replicator?
Can you recommend a good reasoable docking station or port replicator?

A:Docking Station VS Port Replicator

I just found out DEll Inspirons do not have a docking station port.
Looks like I will have to use a USB connected port replicator.
Any comments on this option greatly appreciated.

The newer Dell laptops (the Precision 7510, for example) have the bottom dock connectors very close to the back edge of the body, so that when you connect to them you have this huge gap at the back even if you slide the little dealy forward that is meant to account for different battery sizes. Yes, I know you can get this plastic spacer to fit in the gap so it is easier to line up, but the way it fits makes it take up a stupid amount of space.
Is there a Dell port replicator that actually has the connectors close to the back so that it doesn't waste all this desk space?
And, yes, I know that they make port replicators that the laptop doesn't sit on, that use the thunderbolt or usb port instead of the dock connector on the bottom. I'm asking specifically about port replicators that use that bottom connector.)
Thanks!
And BTW, Dell, it really doesn't help that you try to hide this by offering one photo of most of these replicators taken at an angle where it's really hard to judge that space.

A:Port replicator / docking station that fits new laptops without huge gap at back?

blackbrook,Below is a link to our Dell port replicators and docking stations. You will need to chat to the sales person for more information. Also, is a post from a user on the DCF with the same system. He was issues an E-Port plus II.Dell Sales http://dell.to/2hBxzd9Quote from DCF Forum User-GeoDosch2"At work my laptop was upgraded to a Precision 7510. With it I got an E-Port Plus II docking station, which was basically the same as the one I had for my Dell Latitude E6520, except wider. It's a stretch to say that the laptop fits this port expander. Yes, you can connect it, but it's like putting a 5 year old kid in a 42 large suit-- he can get into it, but it certainly doesn't fit.I told our procurement dept. that they gave me the wrong port expander, though from the answers here it seems that Dell doesn't make one to fit this laptop. Is that something that's coming out soon? Or am I stuck with the kludge I have now"

Can say an HP use any docking station or replicator for any HP if all things (ie: vga vs hdmi or PS2 vs USB) are equal? I am buying a new laptop and trying to decide between two. Just purchased three Inspiron 15 5567 laptops (i5 @ 2.5GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD) and one user is asking for a 'docking station' or 'port replicator' so he has a single connection to disconnect when he needs to move the laptop.
Presently, he has connected an HDMI monitor, the GB network connection, and three USB connections, which pretty much "maxxes him out" as regards external devices, and lends to his "confusion factor" when he needs to travel with the laptop.
As a relative 'novice' with a laptop (he previously had an OLD Optiplex GX280 Pentium-4 desktop), he is 'uncertain' about connections to externals so I suggested the 'dock' or 'port replicator' to address this.
Now I need help in determining what is "best" for this use: the Dell D3100 USB 3.0 dock or something different(?).  Unfortunately, I've read a few 'disheartening' reviews in regard to the D3100, but what might be a viable alternative? (bearing in mind that this has to be 'brain dead simple' for this user..)
So... Can anyone suggest alternatives, or give an 'unbiased' assessment of the D3100 dock station..?

Hi!
I have a Latitude E7740 that runs Ubuntu Xenial (16.04). I dock it to a "Dell EURO2 Advanced E-port II" docking station.
If I boot it in the docking station, everything works fine, and I find all my two DVI-connected monitors.
However, if I undock, then put it into the dock again while running, it fails to enable the screens. I'm using a script called autorandr for switching between display modes - it uses xrandr. It tries to run:
xrandr --output DP1-1 --gamma 1.0:1.0:1.0 --mode 1920x1200 --panning 0x0 --pos 0x0 --rate 59.95 --reflect normal --rotate normal --output DP1-2 --gamma 1.0:1.0:1.0 --mode 1920x1200 --panning 0x0 --pos 1920x0 --rate 59.95 --reflect normal --rotate normal
But the X server responds with:
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)  Major opcode of failed request: 140 (RANDR)  Minor opcode of failed request: 21 (RRSetCrtcConfig)  Serial number of failed request: 48  Current serial number in output stream: 48
Running this exact command after booting in the dock is doing the right thing, but after undocking then docking, it doesn't work.
Any ideas here? I have updated to the latest BIOS version.
Problem also reported in launchpad with lot's of debug info, here:
bugs.launchpad.net/.../1585884
Autorandr script is here: github.com/.../

no replies...So does that mean there isn't one?that is a bit of a downer. Also, with regards to the max. resolution, surely that is a much more important feature to document on a laptop's specifications page, unlike rubbish like "onekey recovery", or the fact that it comes preloaded with a lot of bloatware like Accuweather.I assume that the lack of a display port will limit the direct connection to HDMI's maximum resolution of 1920x1200.Thus, the question about docking stations (or other USB 3 gadgets) that can support a larger resolution.

A docking station, also known as a port replicator or a dock port, allows you to plug your monitor, keyboard, mouse, cables, and other peripherals into the docking station itself, while the notebook only connects to the dock. Does Lenovo sell a compatible docking station for the USB Type-C port? I am looking for a ethernet port, video port (HDMI & VGA) and multiple USB 3.0 ports on a dock that connects to the new USB Type-C port.

As far as I know, Lenovo currently doesn't offer a USB Type C docking station for the Yoga 900. As you can't charge the Yoga 900 using the USB Type C port, you have to plug in two cables anyway. You might consider buying this adapter by Dell: http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Adapter-Type-Ethernet-470-ABQN/dp/B012DT6KW2 Unfortunately, it only has one USB 3.0 port, but it offers one HDMI, one VGA and one Ethernet port as desired.

If the M4600 can not utilize the docking station ports, it is bye bye to the M4600.

I have a Toshiba Tecra M11-17V laptop, which I frequently use with the docking station that came with it.
There is a DB9 serial port on the back of the docking station but I do not know what COM Port it is.

I am using Windows 7.

In Device Manager, COM9 - COM22 are identified as BT Port (bluetooth). COM7 - COM8 are RIM Virtual Serial Port v2, COM17 is Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port and COM18 is USB-Serial CH340.

I figured that COM17 or COM18 were the most likely candidates, but have not been able to get it to respond using either of them.

I am connecting a Psion 5 (Comms app) to it, and have set the ports and the Psion to 19200 baud, 8bits, 1 stop bit, no parity.

Hi

I think you misunderstood something wrong?
The COM ports available in device manager are ?virtual com ports?
There is no connection between an virtual com port and serial port.

I?ve got one question: what docking station do you have exactly?

I had an express port replicator and this device required an installation of additional serial port driver.

Hello. Purchase a Yoga 710 and have been trying to find a portable docking station for this laptop. Many available in the market but dont want to purchase if it wont work. This particular laptop lacks in ports (I didnt think to look before I bought it) and have been struggling to get even one external monitor connected since most monitors being sold are either standard HDMI, not the mini hdmi port on this laptop. I had to order a HDMI mini cable to finally get an external monitor to work, but now i want to have the ease of use of plugging in my keyboard, mouse, micrphone, headset and x2 monitors so i dont have to mess with all these cables each time i move the laptop from point A to point B. Is there a port on my laptop that will allow me to connect to a portable docking station? As mentioned, many of these are available for sale, just want to make sure I get the right one.

For over a year had no problem with it.  I tried to use a second 60watt AC power adapter power connected directly to the Yoga 260 without the dock and it charges Ok. If I connect the Dock Connector with the second AC power adapter connect, it continues to charge the battery and even after I remove the second AC adapter, it continues to charge through the dock connector. Hi, I don't necessesarily need a docking station, but if it only costs a little more than other solutions to drive 2 monitors then I might as well get a docking station. What should I look for?  I see there is a Lenovo part I can get (0A33970) used for $60-$70.Whatever I get I'd want it to be generic enough to use with other laptops I use. The other laptop I'd want to use it with also has a Thundrebolt port if that makes a difference.  But I think I'd rather have a USB3.0 solution since Thunderbolt is Intel only and I can foresee some AMD Ryzen in my future. So that Lenovo 0A33970 is a USB3.0 docking station.  Does anyone know if this would work with other devices than Lenovo?  I'm especially curious about the gigabit ethernet port... is this a real network adapter itself over USB or does it somehow do passthrough to the existing network interface on the laptop? I'm open to non-lenovo solutions as well.

I have just bought a Dell XPS 15 (9560) and a Dell WD15 docking station with 130W power brick (same wattage as the laptop's AC-adapter). When I only use the docking station to power the laptop the discrete graphics card (GTX 1050) does not seem to work. When I am in a game (eg. Starcraft 2), I get like 15 fps with the NVIDIA recommended settings. Then when I plug in the laptops's own power brick (while still in the game) I get an immediate four-fold increase in framerate. When I unplug the laptop's own power brick the framerate drops down to 15 fps again in a heartbeat. Furthermore, when I only power the laptop through the docking station, I cannot even find the discrete GPU in the list when I'm trying to run the Geekbench 4 compute benchmark (OpenCL). Only the integrated graphics shows up. When I plug in laptop's power brick I find GTX 1050 in the list.
I have run the Dell Command Update application and all my drivers and firmware are up to date.
Does anyone have any idea to what the problem could be?

Hello so my laptop (Precision 1350 Workstation) with windows 7 which i bought in September 2016 stopped charging after I used it with my docking station . It worked for a week or two prior to this and then I started getting a notification every time I put the laptop on the docking station that said "ac power adapter not recognized , use adapter of 65 watts or above" but the adapter was 130 watts. Even when the laptop was taken off the docking station and the ac adapter was just plugged into the wall it still won't charge at all. I made sure the bios was updated 1.11.4 and even checked for driver to update and ran the online diagnostics there was no problems but it still won't charge. A tech came out last Wednesday and replaced the motherboard and this fixed the problem for about a day but then when I put it back on the docking station the same problem occurred and it still won't charge. I even tried it on a different docking station but the same make and model as mine and the problem persists. Does anyone know what is wrong? The phone tecnicians and the technicians don't seem to know what to do

Hello -  My x220 does not lock into  Mini Docking Station Series 3 that I bough recently. The rubber pads on the battery seem to be preventing the laptop from being docked. (Not sure if I am doing something wrong instead.) Also I am trying to set up a multi monitor display ( Dell U2415). Will appreciate some inputs on how I should resolve both the issues or a link if that has been covered before .

Does a docking station charge a laptop without the docking system itself being plugged in?

A:Does a docking station charge a laptop without the docking s...

Hi, What is your laptop ? Does it have docking port and use a PROPER docking station ?  If YES for both then yes, docking station will changer the battery on laptop, Normal USB port replicators (vendors also call them as docking startions) won't charge battery on laptop. Regards.

Here is my situation,
I own a Lattitude E7450, and needed to connected two displays to it. I went ahead and bought the Dell E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator with USB 3.0, since it has 2 DVI ports on the back. It shows it is compatible with my laptop.
I set up my dock, connected my laptop, as well as both external monitors. Only one monitor shows a duplicated desktop. When I go into the display settings, I cannot see any existence of another external display being connected.
All of my drivers are up to date, restarted laptop many times. Pretty bummed out.
Anyone have any solution/knowledge to this?

I recently started using the E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator with my Latitude E7450, but the headphones are not working. Sound comes from the laptop itself, even when the headphones are plugged into the dock or laptop. The headphones work with other devices, and the laptop works with the headphones when it is not docked.

Has anyone had any issues with the Precision 7510 only outputting through one DisplayPort output on the E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator? Our organization recently started to introduce Precision 7510 units to our employees, and we're finding that they will only output to one single monitor connected via DisplayPort through the E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicators - even though there are two monitors connected into the two DisplayPort outputs on the E-Port Plus APR. If the monitors are connected via DVI, the Precision 7510 is able to output to both of them through the E-Port Plus APR. We have tried Precision M4800, Latitude E7450, and Latitude E7470 units in these E-Port Plus APR's with two monitors connected into the two DisplayPort outputs - and they all work correctly. The Precision 7510 units have the NVIDIA Quadro M1000M video cards, and the E-Port Plus APR's are connected to either a pair of P2417 monitors or a pair of U2414 monitors.

My Yoga 900-13ISK Laptop ((ideapad) - Type 80MK - Model 80MK002CUS) has died and I want to access the files on my hard drive.  What kind of usb/external hard drive dock would work for that hard drive, so that I could hook it up to my new computer? Thanks!

Hello,
I'm having a problem with a dell Inspiron laptop that seems to have a loose ac port. If I hold the plug in, it will boot and start up. As soon as I let go of the plug, it shuts off. I've read that a port replicator or docking station will take care of this problem. If I do that, will it be a work around or will I still have to take this thing apart and repair the broken port? If I still have to fix it, then I don't see any reason to buy a replicator.
Thanks in advance.

I am looking for a port replicator or docking system. I want to be able to plug my laptop into it and use my normal keyboard, monitor and mouse. It has to have dual video though. It will be a Dell inspiron latptop and Dell is no help in this case. Yes I know Dell sucks but it isn't for me it is for my boss. Any suggestions?

A:Looking for a port replicator

Dells do not suck. There are a great number of Dells with huge numbers of happy owners. Some of the cheap ones suck. And some with the wrong owners suck.
There are many port replicators, and many are sold on eBay and at Dell support sites.
But I would get my boss to buy a Dell that has a specific port replicator...
Or else I would learn how to burn my files to disk, or a backup external hard drive.
We need to know which Inspiron, age, operating system, memory, hard drive and such.
I would want to back up my data to an external hard drive, then tune up the existing install.
