Autocomplete and Windows Live Toolbar Forms Icon

Q: Autocomplete and Windows Live Toolbar Forms Icon

I am running Vista Ultimate with all the recent updates and IE7. I just downloaded and installed the newest Windows Live Suite. Now nothing is retained as far as logon's and passwords and the forms icon is no longer on the Windows Live Toolbar. I used to be able to see my address, credit card and other information that I would populate on various web pages.Anyone have any ideas?

Preferred Solution: Autocomplete and Windows Live Toolbar Forms Icon

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, DocB1973, and welcome to the forums.

Perchance, have you checked the settings of the toolbar? Perhaps it needs a reboot, or else it needs to simply be re-entered again?

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a basic form with an input element for email
2. Add autocomplete attribute with value "email" and name attribute with some random value (not email).
3. When filling this form, autocomplete doesn't work(no previously used values of emails are listed).

Actual results:

No previously filled values of email are listed even though we have provided autocomplete attribute as email.

Expected results:

Previously used values of emails should have been listed as we have provided the autocomplete attribute as email.

I have W98, and use IE and Mozilla browsers. I am not sure if this is a browser setting or operating system, but in websites, when filling in a form, I type the first letter, and autocomplete gives me options of stuff I have previously typed. I want to turn this off. How do I do it?

Thanks much

A:How do I turn off autocomplete in forms in IE and Mozilla?

For Internet Explorer 5.0 and above go to Internet Options\Content\Auto Complete and clear the boxes of info you do not wish to maintain. Click OK then Apply then OK again.

For Mozilla Firefox open it then go to Tools\Options\Privacy and click Saved Information. Uncheck forms button.

Hope that helps

Hi everyone! I need help. IE8 windows xp service pack 3, more specs in my profile. I don't know what happened but my MSN/Bing Toolbar has disappeared. I have tried uninstalling it but I get an error message that it might have already been uninstalled (in control panel-add/remove programs). Tried appwiz, deleted files and rebooted, but when I go to re-install, I get a message that it is already installed on my computer (from microsoft site). From Bing site, it starts to download, then stops 3/4 of the way and says error, try again, and the same thing happens. Another strange thing is that in IE, I go to View, and my Windows Live, and Msn is unchecked. I recently added a reg key to DisablePasswordCaching (1) to some meeting room computers at work.

The option works, users are not prompted to save passwords whenever logging in to a web site.

After looking around on the net, the options should also become greyed out in the setting (Internt Options - Content - AutoComplete - Settings - "Use AutoComplete For") However, the check boxes are still active.

Any suggestions to why they are not greyed out since the reg key is enabled?

The laptop has 256 meg of ram and I suspect that it is struggling trying to cope with the demands of a modern teenager's online social life.
Is there a good reason to keep it?
Is it likely to be consuming rescources and bogging down the PC ?

In October, I downloaded Windows Live Toolbar, into my PC. After that, for months, something changed when I would open IE...It seemed, as if, took forever, to open. I thought it for many reasons, then a few days ago, I read an article, about how Windows Live Toolbar is "buggy"...Whatever that means, and if one has it downloaded to their PC, they should remove it...So, I did. And ever since, IE opens up, just that! (snaps fingers) Something is seriously wrong with that Windows Live Toolbar. So, if one has it, and one is having trouble opening IE, do yourself a favor...Go to Add/Remove programs and get rid of it...Immediately!

I did search. I apologize if this has been asked a thousand times already.

How can I use large icons in the Windows Explorer toolbar? Specifically, the "Change your view" icon that lets you choose from icons, details, list, tiles, etc.

In XP I could just right-click on the toolbar, select Customize, and select Large Icons at the bottom of the dialog. This feature (like many other customization features in Win7) appears to be hidden or missing. Have I missed something obvious here?

I noticed today that some screenshots show a yellow star icon to the left of the sign in area on the toolbar that allows you to sync favorites among other items.

You can see it on this example:

Then today when I was setting up a new laptop I notice that it was present on there (laptop has vista 32-bit on).

Ive tried everything such as reinstalling to try and make it appear but its not working. Its not just the icon either, there should be an entry in the toolbar options page which is also missing.

Any ideas?

I've just started using Win 7 and haven't understood the working yet of WLM.

Also I have set up in WLM my other email accounts which show up. However I notice that if I send emails from them in their own domains or if I send them via WLM from the drop down menu at the far end of the address bar there is no indication of these emails showing in the respective WLM sent folders. Shouldn't they be?

I remember when I wrote Explorer Property Page Shell Extensions, the default font size was 8. If I went any larger than 9 the controls on the Property Page got hosed. If the forms are standard Windows controls you may only be able to go up one size on the font. Unless you modify the theme. You might check with the people on the Customization forum here. They know these controls from the inside.

Hey guys, I have a 3rd party theme on my Windows 7 computer and I've changed every icon besides the Windows Live Folder's icons.
It's hard to search how to do this because I'm pretty sure it's called the Windows Live Folder and it brings up a lot of other Windows Live stuff. Only thing I've found to do is use something called Restorator but it doesn't work.
But anyway, check out my screenshot I attached and you'll know what I'm talking about. You'll see on the left, I have an empty folder which displays fine then I have a folder with a folder in it then a folder with a file in it.
To the right of that, I have the icon files I'm trying to change those to. Any advice?

Because I'm a change-resistant dinosaur, I just upgraded to Windows 7/ IE 11 over the weekend, from XP and IE 8. I've adjusted to everything, except one thing.

When I click on the Favorites star icon in Internet Explorer, I would like for the explorer bar to come up on the left hand side of the screen, instead of the drop-down menu. Or to have another icon on one of my toolbars that does this. Currently, I have to go to View > Explorer Bars > Favorites to get this to happen. Three clicks when I used to only need one. I have over 500 favorites that got completely reorganized into alphabetical order since the upgrade, and the drop down menu really, really sucks for looking for something low on the list.

Is there a quick and easy registry download or add-on that will do this for me? I already stumbled across 'how to create your own icons' but it got way too technical way too fast.

Please don't answer for me to just ditch IE, I do use Firefox and Chrome as well. I just use them all for different things. And aside from this recent snafu, I like IE's UI the best.

Thank you for any help!!

Hello all.

When I started my Firefox Browser today, I noticed a new Icon/Button on my browser toolbar. Never seen it before. Looks like a picture of an origami swan. When I click it, nothing seems to happen.

I looked in my "add-on" window and nothing seems out of the ordinary. I tried to remove it by right-clicking on it but it just gives me the Firefox menu to choose which toolbars to display.

Can anyone help me identify this and how to remove it, if necessary? The blue arrow is pointing at the Unidentified Icon/Button.

Note: I am running the latest copy of Firefox version 3.0.9
