Lenovo Z510 power jack replacement

Q: Lenovo Z510 power jack replacement

Hi!I accidentally broke my notebook's power jack (2 of 5 wires broke off from their pins). The number of the part I need is DC30100KQ00, but at the moment I hardly find any (ebay's shipping can take up to 2 months, and I don't have that much time). My question is what are the differences between these parts? I mean I've seen many of these with the same looking connectors I need, but they're related to other models. Otherwise, can I cause any trouble if I try to replace it with a part from a different model (e.g. G500)? Thanks,Mozes

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Earlier this week I stood up while holding my Y540.  The power brick, which is quite heavy, fell off the desk and ripped the power cord out of the DC-IN power jack.  The plastic clips that hold the power cord in place were destroyed, and now I can't get a stable power connection anymore. I'd like to replace the DC-IN power jack on the motherboard.  The problem is I can't seem to find the part anywhere.  Lenovo won't sell it to me (it's an FRU only part) and I can't find anywhere online that sells an 81Q4 power jack. Does anyone know if there are other compatible DC power jacks I could use for my Y540?  I'm quite comfortable replacing parts on a system board, I only need to find the appropriate part.   Thanks for any help you can provide.

When put earphone audio jack notebook dont close the UBL sound and now earphone dont play music.I think is a driver problem. But for Lenovo Z510 last driver is of 02 Jul 2015...when exist only Windows 8, not Windows 10 installed now on notebook.Maybe problem is do by nvidia driver that put new audio driver (i have try do uninstal, never change) or windows 10 upgrade.Think there are a new driver upgrade to make? inside realtek website dont see driver upgrade pack. Find audio driver only inside Lenovo support website. Or simple the problem is do by hardware earphone jack that is broke. If this can substitute?

Hello I have an older IdeaPad z565 running an AMD Turion II Dual-Core N530 (Caspian) I was wondering if there are any CPU that I can buy to replace the current one I have. I've searched a lot with no help or direct answer. I checked the manual for this laptop but it doesn't even list AMD processors it only lists intel. I was wondering if I could put in a Phenom II X940? Or any suggestion on a better CPU that is compatible that will give me a boost in performance I want to be able to run AutoCad. I currently can run AutoCad but it's slow. Already upgraded the ram to 8gb and my hard drive is a Samsung SSD 500Gb.

Hello Community! I'm having a problem with repaired power button for my Lenovo Z510.It's about the tape connector that turns on - it was torn in some place. Some local computer service did solder it, but after launching the noteboot it started overheating. Further repairs made short circiut for a moment. The replacement part is not available locally and they said it could be ordered from China (also they said it could be motherboard problem(lol)).Does anyone can tell if it's faulty solder/any other part? The symptoms before dying was flashing power led build-in the button, later it turned off and didn't light after all, then the button died. Thank you in forward. Regards,Yakei

Hi, My son's Yoga 700-14 2-in1 has developed an unreliable power connection - the USB connector has to be positioned at a very precise angle for the battery to charge.   (For some reason, it's worst when the battery is <20% charged and becomes more tolerant when the battery is fuller - seems wierd but pretty sure it's not my imagination.) Both the cable and the male connector for the supply seem to be in good condition.   There's nothing visibly wrong with the dc port inside the laptop (hard to see but in torch light all pins look intact and not bent), however, I suspect this might be the problem and needs replacing (perhaps a loose internal connection). Has anyone else encountered this problem or done this repair?  It looks easy enough based on photos of the internals - the wiring isn't buried under any other components. Is there a quicker fix that I'm missing?  I guess I'll check some voltages with a meter and that there are no loose connections before ordering a new part. Thanks Stuart

Hi JS246 ,
What is the exact issue on the system? Have you checked with another Dell OEM power adapter? Is the current adapter working fine? Is the adapter frayed?
If you have isolated the source to be indeed the dc power cable, then assuming there is no warranty on the machine, you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ
If you are looking to replace the parts yourself, then you could contact a 3rd party Dell parts seller - http://bit.ly/28SYFVc- they ship parts to UK. Or check on Amazon UK - http://amzn.to/28QNXQ0
Write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.

4 year old laptop wasn't charging properly, it was being very fussy about the exact position of the power cable in the socket. It has what looks like a pretty common power connector for lenovo, which is a USB sized hole with a single centre pin. I looked into the laptop socket and saw that as well as the conductor for the centre pin and the outer sides, there was also 4 little tines on each side between the centre and the edge which were clearly all bent off in wrong directions (looked like an old toothbrush inside) I'm guessing the centre pin is +ve, the tines are -ve and the outer connections are just mechanical/shielding. I straightened these all out with a pencil but I think I must have momentarily shorted something as now the laptop shows absolutely no signs of life when I hit the power button. Tried various tricks I've read online about various sequencies of hitting the power button with the battery in and out but no luck. The laptop was fully charged before I started this, but I didn't disconnect the battery before starting which I probably should have. So I'm guessing I've shorted the power rails on that connector. What damage have I likely done? I'm amazed that there can be a design where very flimsy pins inside an external connector which are clearly easily bent can cause such damage if they touch another pin 2mm away from them. Is there any way to save this laptop? If it's a case of replacing an SMD fuse soldered onto the motherboard I can do th... Read more

What is the function of each wire (ground, power supply etc.) and required voltage on each wire once AC adapter is on?2. Are 2 black wires (wires 2 and 3) internally connected? I checked with multimeter and among all pairs of all 5 wires, only those 2 wires are shorted? Is it correct?

Hi!I recently got my hands on my friend's old laptop that hadn't been used for a year. The problem with the G510 was the power jack. It was pushed back and repaired multiple times by professionals but still didn't completely work.I thought that if i bring the power jack outside the laptop it would work. But it doesn't. I plug in the charger and nothing, no led lights no fan no sound. The same charger worked on another computer. So i removed the power jack and i saw no external problem with it. I don't have a multimeter. Next i thought the power jack doesnt really cost much, but then again, the shipping costs would be overwhelming and i can't afford it at the moment.I also tried turning it on with only one memory card, done the 30second thing, charging without battery in case the problem was there but still nothing. The silence is killing me.Could there be any way to charge the battery outside the laptop? Or do you have any other ideas i could try?

Hi,  So 6 years after i bought my PC, I'm having to replace the power adapter after the wire got cut and the service people are now saying that there's a adapter voltage issue as well and hence they're not being able to replace it. Anyhow, was looking to see how much a new, original, adapter would cost but I just cannot seem to find the right one ANYWHERE?! Even AmaonBased on the Hardware Manual, this is the one that came with my PC:120W, Delta ADP-120LH BA 19.5V6.15Aadapter - CCC (PN - 36200400) (Also attached an image of my adapter that mentions the specs). What would happen if I use any of the other adapters mentioned there (specifically thr 90W ones?)  Now, ALL the chargers with the same 5x2.5mm pin are 65W on the Lenovo site. Be super if someone can confirm this as well? Can't find any official documentation that deals with the dimensions of the pin! Mine clearly says 120W (170W if Ultrabay is attached too). Amazon does have a few but they're more than double the price of the 65W ones mentioned on the official store. Be awesome if someone here can link me to an adapter they purchased (pref original Lenovo adapters) and provided it's working fine.TIA!

Hey Guys, I'm quite frustrated with my Z510. The machine is 3 years old now and runs primarily on Win 10 and almost all the time on High Performance Mode. From the past month, I've been trying to diagnose the problem. The first thing I noticed was The pin of the charger started getting a little loose and charging used to stop automatically. I then would have to pull out and plug it in again for it to work. Then in a few weeks, I had to adjust the charger pin in a specific orientation, so it could actually charge. This was the only way to charge the laptop. Later on, I noticed inner part of the Charger pin had some black matter deposited on it. After I cleaned it up, It got back again in a day or two and I realized by now that maybe the Charger is not fine. After few days, I used someone else's same rating Lenovo Original charger and it worked well for first 2-3 days but then the same thing happened to it too. The same charger was working fine on the other person's machine. I thought DC Jack is to be blamed and then tried changing the DC Jack and it is now when I came to know about the fact that DC jack was getting abnormally hot. I tried doing a few things as mentioned in other articles like, removing the battery and then running on just the AC Power. Nothing changed.Tried in other OS like Linux Mint. No change at all.Tried installing Hardware Temperature Monitors. The temperature of CPU went up to 90C max but I don't think it has anyth... My power adapter to my Y500 Idea pad is messed up. The wiring inside must have gotten damaged somehow and is now faulty. It only charges my laptops when angle in certain positions, or goes in and out. It's the 170W AC adapter one, but is there really a difference in using one of the small Wattage Adapters? The 170W one is just way out of price-range for me so I'm looking for one of the cheaper versions. I found one online that is "Y500 AC Adapter 90Watt 19V 4.74A". Would that work with my laptop?  I don't understand how different wattages affect my laptop (I'm assuming it affects charging time) so any help is appreciated. I generally keep my laptop plugged in with the battery removed, so I don't have to worry too much about charging the battery, if that's any help.Thank you!

Hello, Something is stuck inside my headphone jack (really no idea what, it looks like some amber colored resin) This caused no problems until i tried to stick my headphones in (because i didn't know there was something else inside)Now the little switch inside is activated and i can't use my normal speakers anymore. Pulling the thing out is not possible it really seems glued inside, i can remove small parts of it by scratching with a screwdriver but i see no way to remove it without a drill. I googled for ways to shut off the port so i can revert back to the normal speakers (i really don't care about losing the headphone jack, i normally only use speaker sound) It seems the installed realtek drivers allow no option to deactivate it. I tried reinstalling the realtek driver, changed registry option "EnableDynamicDevices" but didnt find the more promising "ForceDisableJD".  The Windows driver also didn't help and i didn't find any other drivers available for this notebook. The BIOS also didn't have any option for this (but maybe i'm just bad at finding it) Is there any way to disable the port on the software side or a way to disconnect the hardware? I have soldering equipment here. I really don't care for a clean solution anymore, just hoping for a way to get the sound. Thanks for your help. Edit: whoops almost forgot the essentials: this is a lenovo z510 with win7 64bit that was not pre-installed (bought without OS)

I recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 110-15ISK, Model 80UD0017US, and would like to purchase a 2nd power adapter as a backup. In the hardware manual I did not see a reference as to the connector size (ie 4.0mm*1.7mm), which is the connector size reference I saw by one seller. Does anyone know the connector size on this power adapter for my model? Thanks,Kim

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Z510. I got it around 3 years ago, and this year, I realized that it has been running quite slow, or slower than usual. Whenever I open a chrome tab, it would take around a minute to set it up and would lag a little when I open up multiple tabs.  This is the specs of my computer.http://tech.firstpost.com/product/laptops/ideapad-z510-59-387061-specification-348262.html So, I was wondering, if I were to add more ram to my computer, would it fix this problem? Would my computer speed up and will respond/act faster? I know that I have 4 GB DDR3 right now, 2 GB that is shared with the graphics card and my task manager says that I have only used 1 out of 4 slots. Does this mean that I have another 3 empty slots that can be filled with ram? Also, is there a maximum amount of ram my computer can handle? I have seen some people ask about it but have no idea about it. So, my real question, would it be possible to add 8 GB of ram? This means that I would have a total of 12 GB ram, and would most likely have 4GB, 4GB, 4GB of ram, 3 slots taken out of 4. If I have 4 slots. But if I have 2 slots, then could I add an 8GB ram, and would have 4GB and 8GB, still totaling up to 12GB?

A:Lenovo Z510! ABOUT RAM

Hi fwachee,

Welcome to the COmmunity Forums.

Yes you can add 8GB ram to your current 4GB for a total of 12 GB.

As per specification from your hardware manual (page 27):
 DDR3-1600/1333MHz SODIMM 2 (max 16 GB)

Two slot are physically available if you would open it up for confirmation as shown below.

This would definitely improve speed and memory utilization of your machine specially with multiple browser and virtual machine apps.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

First of all I'm so sorry if someone already created a topic about this subject, I'm a Lenovo Z510 user and I would like to know which computer parts would be the best upgrade for my laptop. First of all I'm so unsatisfied about the cpu fan, it got cleaned for 3 times and still after 2 weeks of usage of computer it makes so much noise so I would like to know which cpu fan would be the best one instead of the regular one (the regular one is: SUNON MG60090V1-C170-S99), I would also like to know what SSD card (of course the best one which will fit lenovo z510) would be the best update for the HDD one I have on my laptop. Lastly which processor would be a good option for this laptop? (I'm using this laptop mostly for gaming (of course as much as it allows me hehe), so I hope you guys will recommend me computer parts which will help me to get a better gaming experience on z510 ) Thank you all in advance!
