I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Office 2007 Pro.
i have a worksheet which has cells A1:C12 copied and pasted into word as RTF link.
all is good and the numbers update as required.
here is my problem.
the 12 rows have data containing each month for the current year. now when we start a new year, i would like to insert a row in excel so that i can add each additional month. however, i do not want to have a bunch of extra rows to be used for just in case. then i need this extra row to show up in the word document for which it is linked.

now here is the bigger problem.
when i go to the word document and select update link, it will insert the new row i put in, but it will push the last row of the word document.

how can i do this so that my all the rows that i want will be visible (i.e. not be pushed off).

I am trying to create a macro that will look at the contents of a cell and insert it into an address on the server. For example, the contents of the cell is: folder\file

The location to hyperlink to is: \\server\share\folder\file.doc

I need to keep the file extension in the macro so that clicking the link will automatically open the file. I just need to get the contents of the cell to fill in the folder name and file name.

In Word 2000 under Insert Hyperlink, Word maintains a listing of recent files or browsed pages that you can use to insert hyperlinks into your document.

Is there someway to "flush" that list, when it become so long or so outdated as to begin to lose utility for the end-user? There must be some way to do that, since I noted that my files list (either at home or work) recently was zeroed out in the last couple of weeks or months.

A:Deleting File Locations Under Insert/Hyperlink in Word 2000

Okay, we have at least a partial answer to this question. Apparently if you flush your recently visited internet page history from your default browser, you will simultaneously delete the recently browsed pages under Insert > Hyperlink in Word 2000.

We're still in the hunt for information on how to deleted a list of the file locations that is also retained under Word 2000. Other entries?

Please help point me in the right direction.  I checked the File association on Internet settings and document type docx is associated with Word, but it won't open.  What do I need to change?

Title:  SharePoint 2010 document broken link due to unrecognized File protocol: ms-word
Please help point me in the right direction.  I checked the File association on Internet settings and document type docx is associated with Word, but it won't open.

Try refining this symptom description.  What exactly do you mean by "it won't open"?  Answering that might explain why you are posting this in an IE forum.  E.g. right-click, Copy Shortcut whatever it is that you are calling
a "broken link" and Paste it here.
Otherwise, try right-click, Save target as... to put the file into your Downloads (Ctrl-j) and then use right-click, Properties to find its
full path and name.  Note that that would be quite different from what the Copy Shortcut step would have shown.
Next I suspect that the Set Associations GUI tool may not be showing you the correct information.  FWIW it certainly doesn't show me the correct information in W8.1.  So, I would try checking if you have an explicit association and file type combination
by using the assoc and ftype commands in a cmd window.  In fact, instead of just showing the ftype for the current association I would use this:
    ftype  |  find  /i  "word"
Then you could take the most appropriate template (not necessarily the one pointed to by the assoc command) and fill it in on a Run... dialog (or a ... Read more

Hello all,

I have been presented with a project that involves Forms that I am not able
to resolve.

Basically I have been asked to create a document template where other team
members can fill out a form that asks a series of questions, then to have
only the completed form results export to a new file.

I am aware that Word can export the form results to a text file, but when I
do this all of the questions that were on the original form are exported to
the new file.

What we are looking to achieve in the end:
If the end user is faced with 20 questions, but only 12 of the questions
pertain to the end users project, only the 12 completed form fields will
export to a new file.

I know that this should be possible with using a macro button to export the data, but that is where I need the help.

I tried searching for this exact situation, but I did not find any matches, hence the new thread.

Thank you in advance,

I have hyperlinked to a .wav file in an MS Word 2007 document, and the sound file plays without opening a media player.

Problem is the sound file is 10mins long, and I have no way of controlling the .wav file once I have activated the hyperlink.

Pressing escape stops the sound, but I cannot pause or rewind.

The hyperlink seems to be opening the sound file as an 'embedded' object that I have no control over.

During a presentation, I need to be able to pause the sound or even rewind it.

Why doesn't MS Word allow me to open the hyperlinked sound file in a media player?

Can you help?

Hey all,

I have come to you in a fit of desperation. My USB drive was stolen recently and my master Excel data file was lost, which contained all my compiled data from my most recent lab experiment.

Anyway, I have charts of all the important stuff in a word document. The data is there, I can hover on each data point and see the values, and the axes and chart are all accessible for editing.

My question is, how the heck do I extract that data back out of the chart into a table or Excel spreadsheet? There MUST be a way that is better than copying down each data point one at a time

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Is there a better way to do this than my first idea (insert one document for the first page, and another for the second)?

my system: vista 64 Ultimate, Office 2007, all updates, no viruses, 8 GB RAM, 750 GB HDD, C2D
Problem: I used to have office 2003. At some time word could not save anymore. so I switched to office 2007 thinking it is related to vista. when I start word 2007 I get the error message "could not create work file. check the environment variable". At first it wouldn't save either, but I fixed that by deleting the normal.dot It seems to work besides the annoying message. The other problem may be related: Excel can not save at all and crashes while trying and says: "MS Excel cannot open or save any documents because there is not enough available memory or disk space... to make memorey free...". all other Office applications seem to work well (haven't tried too much).
I googled and tried all the registry tricks (that's how I found the fix with deleting the normal.dot). I suspect at some time I changed something and can't remember what. but word 2003 worked at some time. I have reinstalled Office multiple times (deleted registry entries etc.) Nada. My links to the temp folders in environment variables should be correct. I had meddled with those at some point.
I searched the forum, haven't found anything. Sorry in case I overlooked something here.

Edit: I have the swap file size on "automatic", despite 8 GB of RAM. I only have one account (administrator)

To the best of my knowledge, you can only hyperlink to another section of the same document if the area you wish to hyperlink to is a heading text (as opposed to normal, etc) or a bookmark.

Highlight the area you want to be the hyperlink.

1. You can either right click your mouse or click insert on the top menu bar.
2. Click hyperlink.
3. Choose the 'place in this document' button on the left hand side of the hyperlink window.
4. You will be offered a choice of subjects you can link to.
5. Click the subject that you want to link to.

I have a question regarding Hyperlinks in excel.

I have the hyperlink names in a column. i.e. ID no. which is the display name for the link.
The link then points to a site for that ID number.

I know that if you highlight the display name & Right click, you have the hyperlink option, you can then copy the hyperlink and paste it in a new column, so that it displays the actual link, which is what I would like to do.

However, I have hundreds of the display names in this column, I'd rather not have to do this on each one.

Is there away I can highlight all of them and extract the actual link to a new column?

I'm trying to figure out how to make it so that a very long checklist, which includes checkboxes and text boxes, can be transferred to excel. (I'm working with the Microsoft Office 2007 suite.) I've been reading about how you're supposed to enable the "Save Data as Delimited Text File" in the advanced part section of the 'Tools' Options tab, and then save it as a text file to import into excel, but when I do that it doesn't save any information, just two zeros. I've been looking at other forum questions and messing around with how the forms are protected or not, but I can't get it to actually save any of what's entered in to the forms when I save it as a text file. Any help on this would be very much appreciated.
I've attached a zip folder (I hope) with a section of the checklist in case that might help. Thanks so much!

Hi. I've been using Office 2003 for a while now, but recently, I've had some problems with its hyperlink formatting.

Say I wanted to copy the fourth paragraph (the one with all the hyperlinks) from this page.

In the past, I could copy it to Word and it would appear like this:

In case you've forgotten, in the previous episodes, Jack handed Vaughn the key to his Warehouse of How to Forget Your Wife Duped You paraphernalia, and Vaughn paid it a visit. Katya, Irina's sister, showed up long enough to save Syd's *** and pretend to be a good guy. That'll be important here in a bit. Sark tortured Vaughn, who, thankfully, remained shirtless for much of the episode. And Nadia, Syd's sister, can channel Rambaldi. We know this because Syd repeats that entire storyline toward the end of the previouslys. God. It's only the previouslys and I'm already annoyed. Syd saves Nadia, and that's where we pick up.Click to expand...

Would be grateful if anyone could advise on a problem with hyperlinks in Word 2003 (Win XP) -

I have created standard hyperlinks to various files (doc, avi and jpg) in a Word document. The doc and avi files display with no problem when clicked on, but nothing (much) happens when I click on any of the links to jpegs. The cursor briefly shows the hourglass so it is doing something, but then it reverts to the pointer and that is it. I am sure the pathnames are correct - and if they weren't, Word would display an error message.

It seems to be failing to launch the associated viewer (Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, intially) or perhaps not even trying. If I double-click on any of the files in Windows Explorer they are displayed with no problem. I have tried changing the associated application (to Paint, for instance) and again the images open with no problem from Explorer but nothing happens if I click on the corresponding link in Word. This is computer-specific because if I open the same document on my laptop and click on on a links to a jpg it opens in Internet Explorer.

One thing I am wondering is whether Word ignores the normal file extension association and makes its own choice about which viewer to use.

Other than this I cannot see why the jpgs should fail to display. Have searched the internet quite thoroughly and failed to find a reference to this problem with Word.

It is a fairly high spec PC without other known glitches.
