I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have just become interested in putting my images onto fabric but didn't want to use the T-shirt paper transfer that Epsom offers as it comes with a plastic coating that adheres to the fabric. In my search for something else I found a paper they call "Fabric Carrier". It has a tacky substance on it and when pealing off the protective layer you can place, I presume on a reasonably thin fabric, and adjust it to lie smoothly then trim it to the size of the paper and feed it through my printer (an Epsom Photo 820) and end up with a result when pealed from the page that is just a printed piece of fabric with an image directly on it.
I was hoping rather then order it from the States, I live in Canada, and then pay shipping, duty and perhaps delivery charges, I was hoping to find this product in Canada or create my own. I was thinking that someone may have found a spray or mix that I could apply to my own paper and have the same result. Does this sound reasonable or is there too much chance of ruining the printer with an overflow of the product during the printing session?
Does anyone know of a Canadian source or how to create this on my own?

Too much spare time on my hands.

I rebooted my C930 this morning (I didn?t shut it down earlier this week) and I fell into the blue RESTARTING pit of doom.  It?s been about an hour.  I don?t recall seeing a windows update message but there may be one.   I had a similar problem with a prior pc and I messed it up.   I don?t want to screw this one up.   I tried disconnecting power  and peripherals, powered down and then turned back on.  It goes right back into RESTARTING.   I then turned off and tried turning back on using FN(power) and it still goes right back to RESTARTING.   I am out of town and don?t have a bootable thumb drive. id like to avoid going to the hassle of making one.  I do have a fairly recent Macrium Reflect Disk image if I need it on a portable 1Tb usb drive.   Is there a way to force reboot into bios  that I am missing? thanks

After downloading a Windows Update, and installing, and then restarting my computer restarted and went onto system scan or whatever its called, the thing that starts scanning your drives for errors if you didnt turn your comp of properly .. yeah anyway that will finish then it will flash some navy-blue screen with all this writing for about a second then restart, coem to the screen that asks if you want to start normally, last time it started with the best changes or whatever its called, and the 3 diff safe modes - well starting normally, or last time the computer started with working changse orw hatever its called dont work, it just goes to the scan then restarts n goes back to that damn screen AGAIN and just goes thru the same damn routine! I can only start my comp thru safe-mode, and ive tried restarting when I got to it but same stuff happens again. I tried system restore to restore me to a previous check point but it fails and the next time I go thru Safe Mode it sez that it failed to put me to that check point...

So basically I think my comp is screwed? Because of the Windows Update that obviously turned out to be a virus - my ex gf told me that the same thing happened to her old comp and they had to reformat (ill die if I have to do that haha) n the same thing happened to theirs. Apparantly the Windows Updates are jammed packed with Viruses, or somehow it gets onto your computer pretending to be Windows Update and just installs a virus instead - I did notice a wierd... i doubt you received a virus in a official windows update,do a repair installation
if you have sp2 installed you will need to slipstream sp2 into xp or you will not get the repair option
set the bios to boot from cd
pop in the cd and reboot
choose install
ignore the first repair option and continue with install
when windows finds the previous installation and offers the repair
then do the repair
the repair will leave all of your files intact
then post a hijack log in the hijack forum for one of the experts to advise you on

What happens when you try to restart?

Personally I would hold the power button down for several seconds until the machine switches off properly. Even if it seems to be shutting down, don't let go until the power clicks off. Then try starting again and hope it works.

so, my net decided to commit attack pattern suicide earlier, and when it came back up, skype got itself stuck on an endless signing in loop, so I decided 'ok..restart time'

so, with that decision made, I told the computer to restart...whereupon it got stuck on 'restarting'

you know, that grey screen, the rotating circle doohicky, and the word restarting underneath?

left it there for 10 minutes, then I did a forced shutdown by holding down the power button.

has anyone else encountered that before?

Brand new Hp right out of the box and as best as I can describe it, it looks like a bed sheet if you placed something down on the bed, you would see the fabric ripple 360 around the object.   looks better straight on, but worse from off angle.   First if this is a thing, whats it called? Also I assume this is not a troubleshoot kid of thing, I beleive the screen is a bunch of layers and this would be a defect of one of them.  Although it is lessened by looking straight on it is still visiable and more so depending on the colors displayed.  So is this covered under warrentee? I purchased thru Amazon, would I be better off just returning and getting a new one.  Is it a common issue with this model?

I have been finding a lot of malware on my computer running windows XP over the past few months. Primarily Vundo and virtumonde variants. I have run many scans with Malware Bytes and SuperantiSpywarePro that find tons of related files and say they removed them but the next time I would run a scan it would just find more and more of the same. While someone else was using my computer and visiting some unknown web pages, a further infection occurred just recently involving something called rapid antivirus. It was bringing up fake alerts in the system tray and some warning came up about windows system files having been changed, and if I wanted to do something with them, and I clicked no thinking it was more fake alerts from the malware. I was also redirected to a fake Windows XP splash screen that I was somehow able to get out of and then I ran a Malware Bytes scan.
It found a ton of stuff including the usual Virtumonde and vundo variants, and the rapid antivirus rogue trace among others. I went through the removal process and restarted, and ever since, it has been very difficult to even get into windows. The computer hangs on the windows log in screen, and I have to shut the computer off from the surge. When it actually does show the desktop, my icons load, but my usual system tray icons only partially load, and I cannot run anything, or even restart or shutdown.
I was able to get into Windows in Safe mode, and from research I did on another computer, I disabled a windows sett... Read more

Press and hold down the power button on your laptop for ten seconds to force it to power off. Wait another 30 seconds or so, and then try restarting.

When you downloaded Movie Maker & Direct X, did you find versions matching your version of Windows 8? (64-bit or 32-bit)

See what happens after the power off/on.

My desktop is in a loop.

I was Firefoxing and it hung. Nothing unusual about that lately (Firefox seems to be getting less and less stable).

Pressed restart button on the front of the machine and I get the "choose which option you want to start Windows" (XP) screen - Safe Mode, Networking with command prompt, etc etc. No matter what I choose, it tries to carry out the task but gets no further than a blank screen past the one with the options on it... then it restarts itself and goes back to POST. This just goes on, over and over.

I can't afford to go have it fixed (I've got two quotes, one is slightly more reasonable than the other), so the question is this... what's wrong, and how do I fix it? I have another machine I should be able to put the Windows HDD in, if necessary.

So yesterday I have tried to reset my windows 10 pc but when it was resetting my pc it got stuck at 23% so i Googled to see what the problem was. Someone said to hold down the power button and start my pc up again so i did that. After i did that I got to a blue screen telling me to 1. Launch windows 10 2. Launch it from an external hard drive 3. Shut down your pc. ( This isn't exactly what i could choose but it was something like that) So i chose Launch windows 10 but after that my pc restarted and now i am stuck in an endless loop. My pc doesn't even get to the windows logo. It is stuck for 5 sec at the toshiba logo, then the screen goes black for a sec and then i get back to the toshiba logo. I don't get the BIOS screen and i already tried booting from a usb but it doesn't work cause it can't get past the toshiba screen.

Help me please. Thank you.

I have an HP laptop that I ran Windows Update on. There were 3 major updates in the list that were automatically selected when it ran the update scan. I told it to install all 3. It got stuck for hours on the 2nd of the 3 updates. I hit the Cancel button on the update screen. That didn't do anything after another long period of time so I hit the X on that update window. Figured I'd better restart so it could install the first update that it looked like it was ok with. When I restarted it is now stuck on the blue screen that says "Keep your PC on until this is done. Installing update 2 of 3....". When I told the update screen to cancel it was saying something similar... something like "Installing update 2 of 3...".\

I can't remember which version of Windows 8 I have installed. I found several sites talking about turning the power off where the computer is at right now in the process if it just won't go any further. Then they were saying there was no telling where the computer would be in the process of updating and that there was a good chance that it wouldn't boot again at all. And that I'd have to repair with an OS repair disk, several other things that might happen and worst of all I might have to completely rebuild windows and lose everything saved local on the computer.

I don't want to do anything more that might mess it up worse. What should I do from here?

Thanks!

Hi there! I?m really new to this stuff, it?s difficult for me to explain things but I will be happy to give any additional info if needed.

I basically did these steps - Settings > Security and Updates > Recovery > Restart this PC > Delete all files option.

After waiting through preparations for about 20minutes it restarted my pc for the first time then I was met with the starting screen with the words ?Restart this PC? with another loading bar and percentage. After it completed this process it restarted once more, it came to the main startup screen for my pc with just the plain logo no words, then it restarted, it restarted Over and over for 45 minutes roughly with no sign of progress, no sign of anything happening at all, it is still going on now after another 45 minutes has passed, I did go and turn all of it off just to refresh it in case it got stuck but nothing has happened, it does the exact same off and on loop and I never get past the plain logo where you can access the bios etc if you need to.

Any suggestions?

When this happen, i can't disable Network Adapter, i can't uninstall Network Adapter, i can't reinstall Network Adapter until the PC gets restarted. I can still disable other adapters such as Vmware adapter. The device manager froze and the Intel setup also froze and stuck for infinite. I restart my PC and it gets stuck in "restarting" for infinite until i press the reset button.

I just clean installed Windows 10 a week ago. I installed the latest Intel Network Adapter for Win10 64-bit first before installing other programs, and i trying to keep my PC clean asap. I updated BIOS to latest version and load default settings. I have Vmware Workstation, Virtualbox (for Android emulators), Dropbox, and AVG Internet Security installed. I accidentally deleted my nvidia graphics drivers, and the latest version doesnt work. Knowing the drivers which came with the computer will let me re install them. Thanks.

A:Lenovo flex 3 1580 Nvidia graphics drivers fabric version

You might check to see if the earlier drivers are still present on your system by doing the following Right-click on StartSelect Device ManagerLeft-click on Display Adapters to expand.Right-click on your display adapter, and select Update DriverSelect "Browse my computer for driver software"Select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"This should provide a list of drivers previously installed on your systemTo switch to one of them, choose an older driver and click Next.It would be hard to know exactly what driver was installed when your system was new, because Lenovo does not provide release notes for its drivers as its certifies them, but older drivers for the Nvidia 940M card should be available from Nvidia, as well as newer driver versions that those release by Lenovo that may resolve your problem. which can be found here https://www.geforce.com/drivers Good Luck,

Hello TSG, I need a little help with a new XP installation.

A friend came to me with their computer to see if I could fix it for them. The problem was that they had accidentally downloaded a virus that made them unable to log into Windows after a reboot, the screen would appear with a cursor but the background would be black and that's as far as it would get.

I popped in the OEM XP disc from Dell and began to reinstall Windows over the old one. Everything seemed to install fine, but when the computer reboots the XP logo appears, then I get a screen that says "Setup is restarting..." then the computer restarts and it does the same thing again, restarting over and over.

I'm about to put the HDD as a slave on one of my computers and copy the data over and then re-partition the drive, but if anyone knows of a fix to this problem I would greatly appreciate the information.

Thanks TSG

I would say that i hope that anything they want to save has been saved to a flash drive or a cd before you begin.you cant install windows over or on top of the old one or unless im wrong you will have a real mess.It has to be a fresh reinstall.what u have to do is put in the cd and reboot and hit F12 to go to the boot order and have it boot from the cd. then you should see hit any key to boot from the cd and go from there.hope this helps.

Updated to the new windows 8.1when it released but its been over a couple of months and wanted to try the reset to factory feature to clean and possibly have a "new computer"

Followed the necessary steps in factory reset but A WHILE has passed and thought something might be up. Now, I understand that the process takes time but I'm approaching over 72 hours and noticed that people who have similarities in my situation see what percentage their on. I dont see any percentages on my screen and I dont think it's frozen.

I currently see a red screen with a circular dotted loading indicator and says "RESTARTING".

Now this has been all I seen for the last 72 hours now and, just wondering if this is normal or I need help to be doing something.

Much love and thanks!

A:Windows 8 factory reset stuck in "restarting"

Please don't listen to my suggestion, but 72 hours, yes it must be something wrong, so turning laptop off by using power button looks like only solution. However can't say what could happen afterwards
Do you have a repair disc? or installation media?
you could also repair your PC if anything goes wrong. see THIS

Ever since I caught the Xp AntiVirus 2008 randomly on startup and have removed it, MBAm prompted to remove something on boot so I clicked yes. Then my computer was stuck On Logging Off.. for a really long time so I had to hold my power button because I didn't have a restart button. Then everything was normal except when I typed my password and pressed enter, my computer was loading my personal settings longer than usual. Then I came to my desktop with no icons and no startbar. All I could see was my desktop. So I went onto Task Manager and clicked New Task then explorer. Is there a way to fix those two problems pernamently? (I have checked the registry for Shell and made sure it said explorer.exe but it already did!?!?!)

A:Computer Always Stuck On Logging Off When Logging Off, Restarting And Shutting Down

Have you done a good check for malware?Typically, there are system issues after infected users think they have "removed" the malware. The malware may be gone, but some residual system effects may remain.Just to be safe...and to get advice/suggestions from those who normally deal with malware situations and the aftermath...I suggest posting at BleepingComputer.com - Am I infected What do I do - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/ If you've already done such, it helps to know that.Louis

hi,

Could anyone explain the difference between domain (controller)switches and full fabric switches? (or direct me to a page/site which would do the job)

Tks

A:domain switches vs full fabric switches

Depends on what context you're talking about. Your statement is a bit "Apples and Gorillas" The two really aren't related to each other.

Windows 2000 Pro

Had service pack 3 and was working well. I had just put the 2000 on this computer it had windows 98SE. I had SP3 on it but new it need to have all the windows updates put on so went to windows updates and the first thing was SP4. I stayed up late last night and let SP4 install and thought everything was fine. Got up this morning and find out the computer boots up and goes to the windows 2000 screen but then the next screen would be the desktop but instead it reboots and goes to the same spot the 2000 screen but never makes it to the desktop, this happens over and over.

I tried to go into safe mode but does the same thing
tried command prompt only so I could type in SCANREG but it just reboots again I can't get anywhere to do anything.

The last thing I tried was last known good configuration. I clicked on it and a page comes up with all the writing I hardly got a chance to read it when it reboot again. but under the first paragraph wher it says something about last know good configuration it has a space and the it says project 1 like I could have click on that if I would have been fast enough.

Any ideas from anyone would be nice. Thanks

Ok, I've got a ECS k8m890m-m... AMD 4800+.... 2gig ram.. radeon 9400 pci-e..

Ok, here it goes... i shut my computer down unplugged it then took out the heatsink/fan cuz i bought a new fan to put in, I changed the fan then put it back in.. Turned it on, and it got to the xp loading window then restarted...The next time it brought me to "Safemode - start windows normally etc... i select "start normally" and again it restarts...this time i select "safe mode" and again it loads a bit then restarts..
So this time i try and go into the bios and "load defaults" for shits and giggles and before i can even exit and save the bios it restarts again on me..

So it's gotta be hardware i'm thinking?

I remove vid card and use onboard video and the same thing happens, just restarts..so i remove a stick of ram and swap out both and the same thing happens...

It's really weird, i can turn it on now and it won't load anything and just keep restarting..but 5 restarts later it will load to the xp screen... wtf?!?

Now that i'm looking at the mobo i do notice 2 capacitors are kinda bulging out, there not completely flat like the rest but there not cracked or anything...Could that be an issue?

I'm frustrated right now, all i did was change a fan and put it back in... Didn't touch the cpu or any wires, it was working fine...

A:Restarting restarting restarting restarting... frig

Could be...
But is is much more likely that you erred on the reinstall of the heatsink and/or fan or other component.
Did it require you use thermal paste?
Remove and retry... being very conscious of even the little points...
It is likely detecting or not detecting something important.
You probably got a check list with the cpu cooler/heatsink/cpu fan package, follow it exactly next time.

How do I restart windows XP without restarting my computer?

The reason I ask is I suspect that auto shut off monitor gets tired of going on then off then on again.

A:Restarting Windows XP without restarting computer

You can't actuall restart XP without restarting the computer. You can logoff, but that will still wake up the monitor.

If you want to turn off the monitor auto-shutoff, go to your control panel and open up power options.

You can get use the presentation mode to not turn off the monitor.

I will post only the specs. I think matter for my case, but please feel free

A:Preparing automatic repair - stuck - Desktop won't load Windows, stuck at BIOS

Quote:

- While doing all this and when the problem started I monitored all the temperatures with the digital monitor. VGA, CPU, and everything else was not hot at all. CPU never passed 80 celcius, average was maybe 75 celcius for example.

80C while in the BIOS? That is not fine at all, something isn't cooling that processor correctly.

I would recommend taking the heat sink off and reapplying the thermal paste. Then reseat the cooler.

After a power outage 3 weeks ago I was having issues with the system going down at around 5 minutes and then less and less time after that. I was told it was a display issue and to uninstall and reinstall my display drivers. I uninstalled my drivers and it was still the same. I felt like it was temperature related. I found my graphics card (Radeon 5700) was dirty. I cleaned it and thought I was back in business. Everything was back to normal, all I needed to do was update my graphics drivers. Once that was done, my computer would no longer load past the Windows splash screen.

I used Puppy Linux on a flash drive and I have access to everything. I can use the internet and access all my files. This to me says that it is not a hardware issue.

The fact that when I try to go into safe mode it gets stuck for more than a day on classpnp.sys (when I finally give up). I understand that classpnp.sys has loaded but, there is something after that that the computer can't load. I have seen some people have atipcie.sys load after classpnp.sys and it makes sense to me that it would be a graphics driver that is causing the issue.

I need my Windows 7 up and running for school and work projects. Any ideas, thoughts, or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi ,
Follow this tutorial to run SFC /Scannow at boot.
SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot
If you want to run the command from a USB drive follow this tutorial.
Boot Windows 7 System Repair Disc from USB Using Grub4Dos
And apply it to the first link instead of the ERD (Emergency Repair CD).

Generally a good tutorial to read.

I tried using the driver CD to see if it will help with anything rebooting and I did some Express Test. It gave me this code:

Error Code:    650F:136C
Msg:    IDE device failed. Blank media or no media is present in optical drive. Test requires media with data (Resource CD, Installation CD).

Have no clue what it is. Ive done some reading on Mup.sys. It requires me to remove some 'USB card'. I dont really see any . Any advice would be appreciated or if you have anymore further queries let me know.

A:Stuck on Mup.sys (during safe mode) and stuck on Windows XP loading screen.

HI Jon,
Thats not  a error to worry about.
That error comes up when u run express test on the computer and the cd drive is empty.
Are we working on a notebook or a desktop.
And mup.sys is a system file .You can repiar mup.sys by following these steps.
1>Start the computer from the Windows Xp CD.2>At the Welcome to Setup screen, press R to repair. 3>At the C:\Windows prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: ren c:windows\system32\drivers\mup.sys mup.old4>At the C:\Windows prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:expand <cd-romdrive>:\i386\mup.sy_ c:\windows\system32\drivers\mup.sys5>After the file is successfully expanded, type exit, and then press ENTER to exit Recovery Console. 6>Restart the computer.
Best of Luck.
