Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 13 - External Display Problem

Q: Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 13 - External Display Problem

[email protected], hopefully someone can help. I got a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 13 80HE004LGE for half a year. Intel Core M-5Y70 1.1 GHz + Intel HD Graphics 5300, Kerntakt: 100-850 MHz, Dual-Channel, 20.19.15.4444 I used it with an external DELL 24" screen in extension setup WUXGA 1920 x 1200 pixel. Worked without any problem. Now changed the screen: DELL 27" (Dell U2713HM) . This screen should be able to provide WQHD 2560 x 1440 pixel but max I can choose in the set up (Win 10) is Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel. I did the full program; 1. deleting drivers (Graphic and Monitor) reinstalled newest versions provided from Lenovo/Dell website,2. tried 3 different cables (HDMI and DVI), no differences :-(3. Installed Dell SetUp tool4. Installed intel set up tool (Could enter the high resolution manually here as personal setting, but does not work either) Nothing helped :-( screent stays on 1920 x 1080 :-( This 27" screen was running connected to a MacBook Pro without any problem in max. resolution 2560 x 1440 before. Due to my research the Intel HD 5300 should be able to handle 2560 x 1440. Looking forward to helpful repliesDennis

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi all, We have a Lenovo Yoga 500-14ISK and a Samsung LED monitor (tried with other monitor too) connected with hdmi cable. After installed the graphic drivers the external display worked properly for 2-3 weeks. But then it became unseen for the notebook. I've reinstalled the driver and it worked again for 2-3 weeks. Last time I've installed the updated driver but the last week the problem appeared again. As usual I've installed the driver and after the 3rd restart it works again, but I don't know how long. Have You any idea what's wrong here? Thank You in advance,Zoltán

Hi,

The way I read the X1YG1 base specs it supports two independent monitors.  Apologies, but I can't quite parse your post.  Does "apart from laptop screen" mean that you want 3 monitors total, or two and the laptops's display is off?

supports external digital monitor via HDMI or Mini DisplayPort;supports dual independent displays;

Hello everyone I'm a new owner of the Yoga 720 15''. I've just bought apple thundebrolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 adapter and tried to connect external display using miniDP -> DP cable but with no luck. The same DP cable and monitor works ok on my MacBook (early 2015 with thunderbolt 2 ports). Computer sees the adapter (it's visible in the "printers and other devices" panel) but nothing is shown on my external display (it behaves like there is no cable connected to it and goes to sleep after few minutes). I've seen on various online stores that the apple adapter should work with my laptop. Is there something that I'm missing or maybe my T3 -> T2 adapter is broken? Thanks! Marcin

Hey guys, I recently purchased a micro hdmi to hdmi cable for an external display monitor with my Yoga 3 Pro however after connecting the laptop to the external display, I receive a 'No Signal' message on the external display. When the cable is not plugged into the external display, it says 'Check Signal Cable' therefore I know the external display can recognize when it is plugged into the laptop. I have read other forums regarding cutting back the plastic on the micro hdmi cable for further extension of the male end into the micro hdmi port however continue to experience 'No Signal' messages. Also in my display settings the laptop will not detect another monitor and graphics properties states there is only the single laptop display. Any suggestions will help, thanks!

Hi,Recently, my monitor randomly getting yellowish. Something like night mode in windows' setting, but the problem is not about it. Because when my monitor is yellowish and the laptop going in night mode, it goes more yellowish. My night mode works fine.So I searched a little and find "paper display" may cause this problem. But I didn't find the option in my "Lenovo Companion".Another tip is when I go to "Color management" and clicking on "Reload current calibration",  the yellowish problem disappears, and after a while, it comes again. Also, when I connect a USB device, the yellowish screen coms again.

I'm using a USB-C to HDMI adapter (using the DisplayPort over USB standard, not an older DisplayLink type) to use an external display on the Yoga 730 and it has issues when running as 2 separate displays (everything works fine when mirroring or using only the external display). If you set the graphics settings to "extend these displays" the Windows 10 shell seems to wedge itself (can interact with already running apps, but cannot start new apps or use the taskbar/start menu) and the bottom of each display flickers (looks like a flickering ghost taskbar). I don't suspect a hardware issue with the adapter because it works perfectly in mirroring or single-display mode; instead I suspect a graphics driver bug. Others that use this adapter on other PCs have no problems. I'd love to try a newer version of the Intel 620 graphics driver but it won't install (it says it's incompatible with this system and to contact the computer manufacturer)... Lenovo's customized version of the driver is 4 months old. I have all the latest drivers installed via Lenovo Vantage, Intel's web interface (it only installed newer Wifi and Bluetooth drivers), and Windows Update. The laptop is running Windows 10 1803 17134.112 (2018 Creator's update).

Hi there LENOVO Community, I´ve bought an ultrabook, model YOGA 710-11 ISK  last year at BestBuy, but only started using it near a month ago and after some hours of use, suddenly the screen was gone, I mean I can turn the laptop on but nothing goes to the screen, got totally off. It was bought on Oct 19th 2016, so it is under the warranty period. I live at Melborne Beach, where is the nearest office to send it to be checked and repaired ? How is the warranty process ? I mean is it possible to send it by mail with a copy of receipt  or does Lenovo could take it at home ? Thanks in advance,Fernando

I have an x1 yoga  20FQ model (i7, 520 integrated).  I am coming from a gen1 x1 carbon and had a gen3 x1 carbon as an temporary machine. On my x1 carbon with the onelink dock (usb 3) I was able to connect 2 external monitors + a 3rd monitor into the mini dp + the laptop built-in display.  Essentially I had 4 monitors. I am surprised that I cannot get the same setup with the x1 carbon gen3 and now with the x1 yoga.  One of my next step is test the vga port on the onelink+ dock to see If I can then enable the built-in port. The x1 yoga and x1 carbon (gen1) intel cpu/gup specs shows that they both support 3 displays.  I am thinking the usb dock is the difference maker.    Is this possible on the newer machines?

Hi,  Can someone from Lenovo officially confirm or someone who has bought this laptop test this and confirm, can the new Yoga 900 output 4k resolution @ 60hz to an external monitor, such as Dell P2715Q?  What I see in the specs, it has Intel HD 520, and the spec sheet says DisplayPort 1.2 via USB-C can drive4096x2304 @60Hz However, there's no confirmation anywhere of this, neither from Lenovo, nor from users. Most USB-C to DP cable makers haven't tested this yet.  I'm seriously considering the new Yoga 900 as a replacement for my T410. Main use is business and photo editing, and looks like an awesome laptop. The ability to hook up 1 external monitor at 4k @60hz is critical for me, otherwise, it's a Dell XPS 13. Thanks in advance,Vele

When I first bought my Yoga 910, I also bought a USB-C j5 Create hub that has one USB-C, two USB-3, HDMI and Ethernet. I was able to plug this hub into the second USB-C port on my laptop (the one for video, not power) and use it without any external power. I was able to use the hub to play video on a TV via the HDMI adapter. However, after an update at some point, that changed. Now if I don't supply power to the hub, it is not even recognized by my laptop and attached devices (including the TV) do not work. Also, the power USB-C port doesn't support data of any kind, meaning it is only good for plugging my power adapter into. I thought at one time I could use it as a USB hub. Is there a setting to change how these ports operate? The USB-C port should supply enough power to the hub to operate "normal" devices like a phone or a memory card adapter. I should not need external power to operate it.

What resolutions and refresh rates are supported for external monitors (HDMI) on the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro i7 (59428032) Specifically, I'm looking at the Samsung 28" 4K Ultra HD Widescreen Monitor (U28D590D) [3840 x 2160] I've hooked up to my HP w2408h monitor (1920x1200) with mixed results (mostly unacceptable).  Most items (icons, images) appear quite large and cropped.  For some applications (such as the View/trim preview window in GoPro Studio) appear to be cropped to about 1/4 of the image (if you imagine an image split into 4 quadrents, only the top left is visible). I had hoped that I could use the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro both as an extremely portable notebook and a desktop (when connected to an external monitor, keyboard & mouse).  I'm beginning to doubt that this will work.

A:Supported external monitors on Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro

While i can't offer any insight on a 4K monitor as i dont have one myself, I can tell you that is works perfectly on a 25" monitor at 1920x1080, and everything looks perfect, exactly as it is when connected to my desktop. I'd suggest that after connecting the external monitor you enter the resolution settings, make sure the second monitor is set as 'Extended monitor' and that the resolution for it is set to its native resolution. Aside from that, if you're working with the Yoga's native resolution (3200x1800), then you probably have the DPI set to 200%, which will also affect external monitors, making some things look pretty bad. There is no magic solution for this case, either drop the resolution and lower the DPI, or.... as much as i hate to say it... get used to it... sorry. I personally dropped the resolution on my yoga and lowered the DPI, so i'm good both with the yoga screen and my external monitor when at home.
