I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Boot off of the XP CD and get to the Recovery Console here type chkdsk /R and hit enter. The Check Disk utility will try and fix any errors. If that fails do a Repair Install.

I'm having a problem with my sister in law's computer. Originally, she had that annoying XP 2008 virus/spyware, which I think I managed to get rid of with Malwarebytes' Anti Malware and System Mechanic 7. Now I have a new problem. After receiving a recent download from microsoft, upon restarting, I get the blue screen of death with this message;

STOP: C000021a (Fatal System Error) The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000)

I can't get anywhere into Windows, I've done F2, F8, F12, everything I could think of without risking more damage since I'm not trained for this. I've booted from the system mechanic CD with the Hard Drive recovery, and while it said it found and fixed a problem, it didn't fix this one. I have no windows CD. The computer is a Dell, and it's running Windows XP service pack 2 with Explorer 6. Heeeeeelp! Other than the F keys, I can't get anywhere with this computer.

A:Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000080

0xC000021A: STATUS_SYSTEM_PROCESS_TERMINATEDThis occurs when Windows switches into kernel mode and a user-mode subsystem, such as Winlogon or the Client Server Runtime Subsystem (CSRSS), is compromised. Security can no longer be guaranteed. Because Win XP can?t run without Winlogon or CSRSS, this is one of the few situations where the failure of a user-mode service can cause the system to stop responding. This Stop message also can occur as a result of malware infestation or when the computer is restarted after a system administrator has modified permissions so that the SYSTEM account no longer has adequate permissions to access system files and folders.I've never gotten this particular error...but if I did, i would treat it as a malware situation until proven otherwise.Louis

To preface this: I installed software yesterday on my Dell Inspiron 9400 w/ Windows XP Home and since then I cannot log on. I have a bit of a background in computer repair and I'm familiar with the recovery console so I was hoping I could activate the system restore from there. Safe mode is not an option. What I believe happened is that I had SP2 and not SP3 and the software was only compatible with SP3, though I can't verify right now or I don't know how. Is that possible without booting to find out? I have a good deal of my machine backed up but I am fighting for the most recent two months' work. Would very much appreciate any help!

- Windows XP Home on Dell Inspiron 9400 with SP2* I think
- Error: "STOP: c000021a" Windows logon process system terminated unexpectedly at 0xc0000022.
- Software installed was Avid Pro Tools SE

I don't have access to an XP disc right now but I can within a day or two thanks to my school. As I mentioned I have an external with 90% of my critical data on it already; if it were possible to manually extract the files I want to salvage by copying them to the external I would love to try that also. However, the problem I've encountered is "Access Denied" when trying to navigate to the documents and settings folder. Is having an XP cd a prerequisite for going into recovery console and trying this stuff? I will work on getting one. Thanks ahead of time.

A:The Windows Subsystem system process terminated unexpectedly

The only memory dump dates from 16 Jan 2012.

No Windows Updates after SP1 - most systems have 70 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get all available updates.

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's recently. Here's the information that I've compiled:

Quote:
There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
- Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard!
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.-
Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
It's my opinion that SSD's aren't reliable enough (with current hardware) to be used on a system that needs... Read more

BSOD: The session manager initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000003a (0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I'm getting this on a shop system running Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit. The last thing I did was shutdown before going home and I believe it installed an update then shutdown, so I'm suspecting the update caused the problem.

I can't get into the F8 Safe Mode screen to try Last known good configuration so I think I'll try a System Restore from the install DVD. Does that sound like a good approach?

Any other suggestions?

Sorry I don't have the specs with me but I think it's a 2.8Ghz Dual core Intel with 4GB RAM and two SATA drives. It's been running fine for about a year.

Hello,

My WinXp SP2 system (with 3 Partions - C: D: & E: of about 50gb each) was running absolutely fine until yesterday when I did a Spyware scan with SuperAntiSpyware and left the system for a while. When I returned the system had rebooted and the screen was blank (black with the mouse scroll). I rebooted again and when it reached the welcome screen it stuck and the desktop won't open.

After trying several times I tried to repair my Xp installation so I booted with the Xp CD and when it asked whether I want to reinstall or repair, I selected the (R) option -> 1: and Rebooted again. Nothing! the same problem.

Then I selected Install Xp option and when it prompted to repair after dfetected previous Xp I did that. This time a large number of files were copied but some files could not be copied as it asked me to either quit installation or skip those files. I skipped them.

When the system booted I got to a screen where it said "windows will now detect devices such as mouse and keybord" but half way through the scroll bar got stck" and when I tried rebooting again the same thing happened.

I finally tried the last option that came to my mind and decided to reinstall WinXp on the same Partion (even though I got a warning that previous installation and applications will be deleted). This time also the same thing happened where files were copied and some files were skipped, but when the system Rebooted it was BAD!.

I have a problem that I have seen has occurred to others in this forum. I have tried to follow some of the advice, but without complete success.

About a week ago one of my PCs started showing this RUNDLL message on startup - "Error loading ruyopaku.dll" - and 10-15 minutes later the system would shut itself down. I would get the message "System Shutting Down. Shutdown Initiated By NT Authority System" and "DCOM Server Process Launcher Service Terminated Unexpectedly". The computer would then shut down after the 60 second countdown timer expired. For a while I was successful in stopping the shutdown by going to START/RUN/ and typing "shutdown -a". I ran an AVG antivirus scan and it found some things that I quarantined, but that did not solve the problem.

So on a recommendation from this forum, I downloaded, installed, and ran Malwarebytes which found quite a few additional viruses and trojans which I also quarantined. I no longer get the missing DLL message on startup, but the system continues to reboot itself and now even the "shutdown -a" does not stop it. I also tried hitting F8 on startup and selecting the option for "No automatic reboot on system failure" but that seems to have no effect either - the system continues to shut itself down and reboot, typically every 5 minutes or so. It's not enough time to do anything - download software, run a scan, etc.

So, the situation is that before I can downl... Read more

Hi.

I'm having some issues booting my PC. The last time I was on it I put it to sleep (as I always do). I don't believe that I've changed anything lately as I've only really been using it to stream content from it to the TV.

The BSOD shows the following error:

The verification of a KnownDLL failed. system process terminated unexpectedly with the status of 0xc0000221 (0x0113dda0 0x00000000)

I've tried to boot into safe mode to no avail.

I've attempted to use all in built system recovery to no avail.

I've also searched Google but can't really find anything relevant to fix the issue.

The boot drive is a 64GB SSD drive from Kingston.

I've ran FRST on it and got the log if that's any help?

I'd very much appreciate any help on this

My computer is running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
Since a few days ago, I've been starting to receive a message stating that the "DCOM Server Process Terminated Unexpectedly." A minute or so after the message shows up my computer is forced to restart.
The message will come up after my computer has been on for a few hours, it's happened while playing games, or just browsing on Chrome.
Sometimes I'll receive a message saying "Windows must now restart because the Plug and Play service terminated unexpectedly." I'm not sure what triggers this one, but as with the other error, windows is forced to restart in a short period of time.
I've ran a Malwarebytes virus scan on both of my drives, but it showed that there were no viruses. It's strange that this is happening now, because I've been using this computer for well over a year with no troubles.

I believe I have an infected computer. I have run malware bytes and malware bytes antirootkit to no avail.

I saw another post here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/519518/windows-must-now-restart-because-the-dcom-server-process-terminated-unexpectedly/ and tried some of the logging tools, I'll post rkills logs to start out with because that seemed to be the only one to report any kind of issue.

Hi,You got hit with the newest infection. One of your system files (rpcss.dll) has been patched. You'll need more advanced tools to replace that file. Please follow the instructions in THIS GUIDE starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it HERE. Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic. If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Over the past couple weeks I've been trying to figure out what's wrong and have even reformatted my computer to a different hard drive trying to fix it. Then it came back today. It's been maybe a week since reformat.

I've received several error messages:
Windows must now restart because the DCOM server process launcher service terminated unexpectedly
Windows must now restart because the Plug and Play service terminated unexpectedly

symptoms include computer slowing down and svchost.exe (hosting Plug and Plan and DCOM) climbs stealing in memory use form 10k when it starts to over 3,000k when it tries to restart my computer after closing either DCOM or Plug and Play

I'm Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
12gb RAM

Help me out guys! I can't do anything for more than 3 or 4 hours until this pops up

Welcome aboard  Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your Desktop. There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully. If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.Do not reboot until instructed. If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode. When the scan is done Notepad will open with rKill log.Post it in your next reply.NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

Another issue i have: when in google chrome and i click on a link, it takes me to a different site and tries to get me to download their stuff.

I have windows 7 ultimate 64-bit
This problem started about 2-3 weeks ago. It happens randomly and it gets frustrating because I would be in the middle of gaming or on the web and my computer would just restart randomly. Also i have started using another web browser (firefox) because its harder to navigate google chrome because chrome takes me to different websites frequently asking me to download a software. For example if i wanted to download itunes at itunes.com, instead google would take me to http://itunes.softwaredl.net/

I have tried following steps on another post concerning the samet thing, but unfortunately nothing happened. I downloaded CCleaner and superantispyware + malwarebytes trials to do scanning. It removed threats, but i still have the problem with my computer force restarting and my google chrome being screwed up.

So, I have been told by xXToffeeXx in my original post http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/521186/windows-must-now-restart-because-the-dcom-server-process-terminated-unexpectedly/ to download DDS and post them in a new topic. Hello and welcome.  Please follow these guidelines while we work on your PC:Malware removal is a sometimes lengthy and tedious process. Please stick with the thread until I’ve given you the “All clear.”  Absence of symptoms does not mean your machine is clean! Please do not run any scans or install/uninstall any applications without being directed to do so.Please note that the forum is very busy and if I don't hear from you within five days this thread will be closed.   Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.Press Scan button. It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply. The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

If you could get back to me I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance. I actually tried doing the same process you used for conor1123 and once you got to BlitzBlank, I didn't know if the file you put down for him to copy and paste into the script was unique for his computer only. Hello, I've just recently came across this message while playing Borderlands 2 and it put my computer into a restart. I don't know what could be wrong and how to go about fixing this problem. It has been occurring for around 3-4 days now. Thank you to anyone who can guide me through identifying the problem and helping me remove it. Thank you in advance! Mod Edit:  Merged posts from another member's topic - Hamluis.

I am using XP Pro and the automated update just downloaded the recent updates so i told it to install them. Then it restarted the computer after prompting me to.

I am now getting a "c000021a The Windows Logon Process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000018 The system has been shutdown"

I have tried to get into Safe Mode, but it still give the error to go into safe mode, I went into the Recovery Console, but not sure if I can do anything useful in here. I was thinking of trying a repair, but would prefer not. Is there a command line version of the XP roll-back feature, or does anyone know how to fix this problem in general? Or is the only solution as it stands to do a Repair Install?

Thanks, James

Helping out a friend. Yesterday, we successfully removed the System Tool Virus. After I verified everything was working properly and left, he attempted to install Bit Defender and received the following error:

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000034 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

I have tried Safe mode and system restore, both coming up with the same error.
Can anyone help me ?

OS is Windows XP, Dell Inspiron 9300 notebook computer.

A:Fatal System Error c000021a

0xc0000034 is the real error to be concerned with...the 21A is just a generic code resulting from the 34 STOP error.MS Says...I might add...from what I see, most persons with this error don't seem to have a solution other than "use System Restore" or "reinstall".Louis
