Told to post here HijackThis Log Computers in network and house going wack?

Q: Told to post here HijackThis Log Computers in network and house going wack?

Ok i will start with my brothers. He got a message saying that his computer was infected with a dangerous virus, it runs really slow, and something that his administrative tools folder was like deleted or something. My dads computer he was playing counter strike and he kept getting kicked out of his games and got stuff saying that cannot conect to server and stuff like that. Now today his computer is slower than my brothers, he cant scan because he cant connect to the internet cause his thing wants to download the lastest update, cant connect to the internet and just really cant do much of anything. My computers fine as of right now but that can change soon. I have some knowledge of using a computer and stuff but my dad is more of the computer person. We have McAfee from aol and it says we are protected and such but but then it gives you a message that your computer is not protected and such and then when you go back its all messed up. Also would spyware doctor and mcafee conflict with each other if you run them? We all download the updates that are needed and i scan about twice a week and my dad scans frequently and so does my brother, we also have windows xp. If anyone can give any insight to this that would be great Thanks.

Ok i just got this... I dont know about my dads but for my brothers its an IE AntiVirus if that helps. Also its missing a shortcut Iw3MP. exe
I cant give you a Hijack this log because the computers cant connect to the internet except mine.
Can anyone pls. help!?!?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I happened to realize today that my Google search engine was replaced by Yoog. I researched it and sadly discovered that my computer is infected. I downloaded Hijackthis since it was highly recommended. After downloading and 'analyzing' my computer, it was recommended to come to this site and post my log results so I can be directed on what to do next. Please help! I have only had this computer for a couple months and don't want it to fry like my other computer. Thank you! (Please e-mail me if you can, I don't really come on this board on a regular basis. My Macbook Pro connects and mom's Windows 7 laptop connects, and (though having done it manually) and my iPhone connects as well. But my Windows 7 desktop and my dad's Windows 7 laptop don't detect the network. I'd appreciate any help.

A:Solved: My network is not showing up on only two computers in the house

how are you connecting wirelessly ?

if wireless is the wireless switched on - most laptops have a switch or use the FN in combination with the F keys to toggle wireless on/off

have you logged into the router and removed the wireless security and see if you can now connect - if that works put the wireless security back on and try again

otherwise - lets deal with just the one PC at a time - your windows 7 desktop -whats the make and model ?

can we see an ipconfig /all
What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG , Webroot etc

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

This should also work for windows 8
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Hey guys, I need help modifying my network/internet setup at my house and guesthouse. This is how my current setup looks like. Main house has the DSL(dynamic IP) modem, connected to a Netgear WGR614 wireless G router(DHCP) 1 laptop connects via wireless to that, and a cat 5 wire going from one of the ports to the guesthouse bedroom in wall plug, and connected to it is a Dlink Dir-625 wireless n router. I have 2 computers connected to the router wirelessly. With this setup my Internet connection is inconsistent in the guesthouse. And recently I bought a Denon AVR-3808 Audio receiver in the living room that needs to be connected to the internet via Ethernet wire., and I don?t have access to that. Let me give you more info on the Distance between the farthest point of the guesthouse, and the position of the modem and wireless router is in the main house. It?s about 60-75ft, 5 walls in between, and 2 of the walls would be the outside stucco walls?? I need suggestions on how to do this the right way. My Denon audio receiver is the only equipment that need to connect to the Internet via Ethernet cable, and I don?t have access to that??

Thank you in advance
Raffi.

A:Network/internet setup between my house and the guest house

First off, get stability from Main to Guest by using wired access. If this is not stable,
then the wireless will not be either. Update the Netgear WGR614 firmware.

Wireless will bog down when it is encrypted, but you need that to avoid your neighbors
from getting access to your systems.

Which location (Main/Guest) has the worse reliability issue?

I'm not seeing much in that log. Can you be more specific as to the nature of the pop-ups?

Let's do a couple things.

If advertisements are opening on your computer in a window titled Messenger Service, it may indicate that your system is not secure. You should enable the Internet Connection Firewall and disable the Messenger Service in Windows XP to help protect your computer from unwanted spam and other potential threats.

The Messenger Service was originally designed for use by system administrators to notify Windows users about their networks. However, some advertisers have started using this service to send information via the Internet, and these messages could be used maliciously to distribute a virus.

Note:

Although the name of the service is similar, Messenger Service in Windows XP is not related to instant messaging programs such as Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger. Disabling instant messaging programs is not necessary and not recommended. Disabling instant messaging programs will not prevent Messenger Service spam on your computer.

If your computer is part of a corporate network, ask the network administrator before disabling Messenger Service.

If you have Windows XP at home or in a small office that you manage yourself, you should disable the Messenger Service.
Go to Start>Run and copy/paste or type services.msc
Scroll down until you see Messenger.
In the Startup type list, choose Disabled
Click Stop, and then click OK.

from a livejournal computer help community.

Anyway, last night I downloaded Norton's free trial thing and now my computer is worse than it was. I tried uninstalling it but that wouldn't work. I don't know how exactly to get rid of it without reinstallnig the whole computer. I got the LiveUpdates to uninstall, but when I try to click on the "symatic whatever" it says I have to install Norton first (I tried uninstalling that one first and when I got that message I uninstalled the liveupdates). Now whenever I restart it loads 10 times slower than it did just to load the Norton crap, and my firewall gives me the same 10 messages over and over again even when I hit "always allow". I don't know what to do?

Hi all,
I've done some searching on the internet and been advised to post my Combofix log here. I ran Combofix for the first time yesterday in safe mode to get rid of some virus that completely locked my computer outside of safe mode. It worked fine and i can use my computer like before, but i was advised that i find a forum to post my log in for someone to look at and see if there is anything further i should do, should there be any remaining problems. I am not sure whether it's just me being paranoid or whether there is something genuinely wrong, but i think my computer is running slightly slower than before i got the virus, if that could have anything to do with it? - Apologies as i do not know what kind of infection my computer had, i just googled what was wrong with my laptop, found someone recommending Combofix, so i investigated the program and took the recommended precautions for using it.

Unfortunately this log is not the original log i got from the initial run of Combofix, however it is a new one i got from my run of the program today. I'm far from an expert with anything computer-related, i just do what i read on forums. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could just have a run through of my log just to see if there is anything wrong. Thank you!

Below is one of my posts made in general security. I was told to make it here. The files mentioned below you will have to get from that section.

I am not on the Internet, my house has been rekeyed several times, I have changed the password to logon to my computer, my windows are all locked with double locks. It's just me, my computer, and an installation disk, and a virus. For 12-15 times I have used the installation disk from Dell to install Vista, and everytime a virus gets planted. I have had the HDD low level formatted, and when that didn't work, I used DBAN.

I still have the virus. It causes files to be read unnecessarily. For instance, this morning I discovered the reading of unpacked files from the installation disk, in directory first named \Vista\3\. It was doing it yesterday and so I changed the name Vista to something else: \XXXYYY_Vista\3\. Today the virus had corrected itself and was reading the new name I gave the directory yesterday. Also, the $Mft has been being read at the rate of 1GB/min. It also reads large .WAV files unnecessarily. Any large file is fair game for this virus.

I have 2 HDD on one machine and they are both infected.

I am told that I will have to get onto the Internet with my computer. That will take a little planning, but I will do it.

Can you help me?

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

You are right, we can not get to every post so I am selecting your oldest one to reply to. Typically I respond to the oldest unanswered posts before the newer ones. So as you see where you are on a page does not matter to me. I use the sort feature to find the oldest unanswered posts.

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.

Lately I've been having a problem with my computer, I will turn it on then after 10-20 minutes or so I'll try to open Taskmanager and it wont open, but the green status square appears in the start bar, near the clock (the box shows how much of the RAM is in use)... Also when Taskmanager wont open other programs wont either, such as AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ, Excel, Word, etc.

I dont know what the problem is, I have 768 MB of RAM and a 2.6 Ghz processor, when it happens I'm not running a lot of programs, infact most of the time no program is running

The only way to fix it is to restart the computer, but I shouldn't need to restart my computer 10-15 times a day just so it works properly, does anyone know what may be wrong with it?

I was told to post here by bobs-here.

Here's the issue I'm having:

I'm having multiple strange issues that I don't know what is causing it.

A couple of months ago my SpyBot Search & Destroy wouldn't run at start up sometimes when I right clicked and ran as administrator. When this happened, I couldn't scan for viruses with my Avast either. For awhile the issue stopped but then it started up again.

Eventually I got tired of it and researched SpyBot and saw a lot of posts about it not being good. So I uninstalled it. I'm not sure if that fixed the problem but I've been successfully able to run Avast scans afterwards.

Then, all of a sudden, I've been getting two recurring issues. One is that my reliability history is showing a lot of 'Windows Wireless LAN 802.11 Extensibility Framework' stopped working. However the internet still seems to work and download just fine. The second is all of a sudden my Windows Media Player won't run at all. It opens but it's just a circle and it never loads so I have to use Task Manager to close it and it won't reopen unless I do a restart. The previous SpyBot issue would fix with a restart too.

I've run scans with both Avast Free and MalwareBytes Free with updates and neither detects anything. I also ran the sfc /scannow thing today and it said 'Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.'

Dear Bleepingcomputer Staff,        Hi. thannk you for viewing my post. My wife/mother in law has a similar type problem on their computer. They know less about computers than me. Only difference is their computer never crashed. Update for Windows 7 for x64 -based Systems (KB2981580) and Update for Microsoft Office 2013 KB (KB2883036) 64- Bit Edition don't install. Unlike the .Net Framework Fix that you used that worked for my computer. The av programs recently started shutting down unexpectedly. For ex. After a while it will say Comodo Security Agent is not started. Comodo Security Agent process will be terminated. Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Protection is not started. The Anti-Exploit process will be terminated. Then it says Press OK.Emsisoft and Malwarebytes full scan- no malware detected.Roguekiller finds a few things. Also they tell me about 2 weeks ago their hotmail email font unexpectedly shrinks to an obscenely small font unexpectedly without prompt. Can you please help. ;) Please. DDS seems to work. I posted the below message earlier today. After doing all I was told to do, I've come to this point. Please read below my message the logfile. I was told someone here would look at it and advise me about any potential problems with my computer. Thank you.

Hi Gang!

This is my first post, and I hope this forum can help me. My level of computer knowledge is medium/low.

I think I got a virus or something like it last Friday night (perhaps it's adware), trying to open a link in a friend's AIM away message. Among other issues, I noticed this program trying to access the internet. I have Zone Alarm Pro, and it alerted me that dees.exe wanted to access the internet. I've also noticed trouble with my Norton Premiere 2005 anti-virus software, and Windows Task Manager.

Can anyone help me with these issues?

Thanks, JoeyP

I heard somewhere that instant messaging systems really do a job on the internet parts of computers. Is this true or just a myth? If its true, what kinds of things do they do to them? I am talking mainly about AOL Instant Messenger and MSN Messenger Service. I really don't understand what they could do but most of you are more of computer wizards than me!

thanks,
thomas

Help a newbie out. How can I hook 2 computers in the same house together so that my kids can play head to head on some of there games? I hope theres a wireless way!

A:Hooking 2 computers together in the house

Howdie,

I have been doing networking for quite awhile now (10years or so) on Win95, Win98SE and WinXPhome. If you need some help I would need to get information about your computers, what type of network card they have and do you have a router, hub or switch.

I'll be on the forum throughout the night.

Hi,

Mobo, if your out there...you probley have an answer for me, or anyone else can help please...

I've heard since XP has come along, that there's a way of connecting two computers via the internet. My Dad is often having troubles with his and I come to the rescue (sort of), I find it hard trying to explain solutions over the phone or e-mail, I just can't go running over to his place all the time.

I have heard that through XP, I could see my Dad's desktop, as well as his files...is this true? Would his stuff just act as a file on my desktop, and as long as his computer is turned on, I can see in...?

If this can be done, how do I do it, how do I proceed? I would want it so I can see his, but not him see mine... I'm the fixer, and he the fixee.

Thanks, Wogster.

Hi,Please do the following:Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:Link 1 Link 2 VERY IMPORTANT !!! It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures. Hello, I posted the following message in hardware:

Hello,
I apologize, I know I've read on this forum that you would like for everyone to be specific with their problems, however, I have many here, and I think they may all somehow be related.

In No specific order:
My media buttons on my keyboard don't work (including volume knob), and my mouse has also been acting goofy (scrolling too slow then speeding up & having me all over the place), If I click on start-control panel, my computer freezes and has to be turned off by the on/off button. All programs and web pages open VERY slowly, I cannot open any attachments in my outlook express email program (drop-down of paper-clip is shaded), After running spy-bot, I have a long list of "missing shared DLL's" and "wrong app path" in Registry. My computer shut-down is never complete without a pop-up that states "One-Touch Multimedia keyboard: This program is not responding", many of my other programs do not respond on a regular basis also. Whew, I think that's all the problems.

I have a HP Pavilion Intel Celeron Processor with 71% free system resources, 255.0 MB of Ram, 32-bit file system, & 32-bit virtual memory. My keyboard is HP (Netropa?) one-Touch Multimedia & my mouse is a Microsoft Trackball optical. My OS is Windows 98SE.

I Have norton anti-virus 2003, Sygate Personal Firewall, Free-Edition pop-up stopper and Spybot S & D (I noticed some of the problems began... Read more

so My internet has been fine no problems before, but in the last week its been taking like a minute to load pages where before it would have taken like 2 seconds. sometimes if it's long enough wait time it will pop up saying Mozilla Firefox cannot display this page. Yesterday I got the AVG Internet Security package and did a full scan and also got the AVG PC Tuneup. Got rid of some bad files and fixed some what others but the problem is still here. What can I do to speed up my computer. If I clear up some space on my hard drive will that make the internet run faster? or just my pc? also I was told to mention that I had Mcafee about a month ago then it started saying im not protected. So yesterday I got the AVG Internet Security 2011 package. So i have not had any antivirus for the past month except SuperAntiSpyware

A:Internet acting up. told to post here.

Hi, did you update the virus definitions before you ran the scan ?
how much free space do you have ?
what operating system and how much memory do you have ?

A system can run slower if you dont have much memory and its using a page file on disk. This is worsened if your disk is low on space and its fragmented. That should not however slow down the internet to the point that you describe.

Hello so here was my first post about the problem im having and i will paste the logs too.

"so the other day i think i had accidentally downloaded a virus as alot of my programs had disappeared and my browsers home page turned to omigaplus. since then i restored my PC to a restore point, and from doing this my programs were back and recovered but the omigaplus was still there after much research i managed to get rid of it with a program i had found suggested on the forums. but ever since the restore my PC has been running alot slower than usual and its very noticeable sometimes things freeze for a short while.

So i downloaded lots of programs suggested on the forum one been malware bytes and a few others and malware bites managed to get rid of a few threats but my pc is still running slow can anyone help me out or have any idea what is the problem here.

Thank you

Joe"
