Overseas Branch Connectivity

Q: Overseas Branch Connectivity

Hi...

I want to get some help from this forum. In my company we are using Fortigate Firewall Device that supports SSL VPN capacity. We have an Oracle Application installed on an Application Server. There is an inbuilt DHCP Server in the fortigate firewall device that supports upto 25 Users worldwide. hence when the overseas users connect to the VPN, they are automatically in a single network and are able to use the Oracle Application.

Now we are grown to more than 7 Locations overseas and average of upto 10 users in each location.
We are now confused to choose options in changing the Infrastructure of our company.

Please tell us what is the standard that is followed in Enterprises that have overseas branches.

The one it comes in my mind is IPSec VPN Connectivity. please help me in this problem.

Thank You

Regards

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Is OOP a branch to nowhere?

I dissagree in some part.

To say OOP as a whole is a failure i tihnk would be over generalising things. In some respects there has been no visible use for it. But in terms of some software devlopment it has been a vast improvement.

For example since switching all of my PHP web applications to a OOP scheme has enabled me to create moremodular designs capable of greater flexibility and scalability. Also i have noticed significant speed and efficiency increases over traditional code schemes.

Hi

I want to connect my main office with 5 branch offices, all branches have windows 2000 or 2003 server, wich would be the best way (and economic) to do this...

-Via Sofware (ISA Server or Windows) or
-Via Hardware ($$$)

What would be the mains problems of doing it via software???

A:Connect Branch Office Via VPN

The way I do it for a chain of doctors offices is through linksys VPN routers. Yes there are better ways, but we run a practice management software on a unix server using an emulation software so we don't send and recieve a lot of data. But the linksys VPN routers also use netbios so the machine son the other end are in your network neighborhood. It just depends on what you need to do over that VPN connection. Oh, and you need a static WAN IP address from your ISP at the main location.

Hi all,

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, which uses HD Graphics 4400. I'm running Windows 10 64-bit. I noticed the drivers in the Windows Update channel are dated newer than what is on Intel's site and the version on my system is 20.19.15.4352. The version on Intel's site for the 4th Gen is 15.40.10.64.4300 and some older versions on my system are 10.18.10.4xxx.

What's the deal with these version numbers? More importantly, which ones do I use?

I'm also trying to troubleshoot some glitchy picture out of my system at 3840x2160/30Hz (4K UHD). Doesn't seem to be bad HDMI cables. Anyone else have issues?

A:Intel Drivers - Which branch?

I have the same 20.19.15.4352
I'm leaving it as is. most updates don't really add anything other than newer graphic cards and its running great

Hey guys

Our company has a few branches located in the Midwest. One of the branches has a bad connection through the local ISP and they seem to lose it a lot.

They were considering getting a cable back up connection because right now they use a telephone based DSL.

I was wondering what kind of equipment do I need to make a VPN tunnel, that way I dont need to VPN each individual computer. If someone is a PRO in VPN please do let me know what is all required ie router, switch etc to have like a VPN box to avoid VPNing individual computers and the VPN will run over the cable internet backup.

First thing, I know next to nothing about computers.
We have a problem with our monitor switching off after start-up. The only way we can turn on the computer is by disabling the video card (Radeon x1300 pro).

Last thing that we did before the computer stopped working was to load suggested Windows Updates.
"Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - August 2009 (KB890830)
Update for Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter [August 2009] (KB905866)
Security Update for Windows Vista (KB973540)
Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter (KB972691)
Security Update for Windows Vista (KB973507, KB971657, KB971557, KB956744)"

We have tried updating the Radeon Video card which is now updated.
We tried re-installing the Viewsonic monitor wizard cd and it said that we had to manually install a component (display optimization files)for Vista but then it wouldn't complete the installation. The viewsonic file in program files is there but empty.

Now I've found that the Monitor device in Device Manager is gone so I can't try to enable or change anything to do with monitors.
Help!!

A:No monitor branch in device manager

I have no access to another monitor to see if the problem is with the monitor itself.

Just wondering if I should spend the $200 on a new monitor or getting the computer fixed by tech guys?

Hello all, and thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Seems like a simple enough question, but not one I'm easily finding an answer to - either here or in Google. If I'm the 4,376,124th user to ask this question, then please be done with me and point me at the right link. I'd appreciate it.

I'm doing a clean install of Windows 7 and, at some point, plan to branch off from Administrator and create a Standard User account which I will use thereafter. Many people seem to believe this is the safest way to run - though in the past I've always just done the simple thing and run as Admin all the time. If you think this is a bad idea, point me to a link or tell me why. I'd really appreciate it.

Otherwise, my question is this: When do I create and make the switch over to the new Standard (non-Admin) account? Right after I've install W7 and all the drivers and all the updates, OR later after I've installed Office, Photoshop, and all my various utilities? Not having done this before, it's unclear to me whether everything I install with just the Admin account will be visible with the Standard User account. It'd be nice to make the switch AFTER I've installed essentially everything I plan to use so that all the software would be accessible to both Admin and Standard user. Does that make sense?

You'd think Microsoft would have a simple discussion about this on their website since they really push not running all the time as admin. Perhaps I'm just not finding it, though I thin... Read more

A:On a new install, When do I branch off to Standard User?

The standard user account will constantly be badgering you for the admin password to install apps and do various things.

I would at least suggest creating a second user account with admin privileges, this way if there is a problem, you can always return to the clean main admin account to troubleshoot and attempt resolution.

If you are the only person using the machine and plan on installing an antivirus application I really don't see the harm in using a user account with admin privs, I would not use the primary admin account though.

Hi all

I have a branch office that uses a low grade home router vpn link to connect to our main office this causes very slow response time when users are connecting to mapped drives.

Im thinking of going the rodc route further down the road when we go to server 2008 to improve log on times, but a rodc to my understanding does not have anything to do with the mapped drives as its not a full copy of the main office DC.

For now id like to speed up the access times to the mapped drives for the branch office users, Im musing over having them stored locally on a pc hooked onto their network and then somehow have the changes mirrored to the main office.

Anyone got an idea?

Thanks for reading

A:Branch office slow link

What are the specifics of your branch office's internet connection? What is slow for the users with mapped drives? Is it mounting the network share and/or the actual file transfers? What router are we talking about?

I hope you're aware that many low grade VPN routers suffer drastic performance issues when they have to do any type of encrypted traffic. You can have a VPN router perform at say around 20 to 30 Mbps of routed throughput but only do about 1 to 2 Mbps when moving data across a VPN tunnel. Also, you may have to manually adjust your MTU settings on both ends of the VPN tunnel to account for fragmentation and overhead of the VPN tunnel.

Depending on the speed of your remote branch Internet connection, it may be worth the expense to upgrade the router to see if this helps. It'll be cheaper than the other alternative which is to implement a WAN acceleration product.

If i buy a motherboard from the US and try to use it in Australia will i have any issues with it because of the difference in power etc.

Im pretty sure that the power supply handles the raw power and regulates it to the board in the manner in which it needs it so then the amount supplied to the board would be dependant on the psu not the board, but just wanted to know for certain before i buy a mobo off ebay

could someone please let me know?

An old boss of mine asked me to work on a project for him and i am open to suggestions of some things you might recommend.

below are the specs of the project:

he is opening up a business over seas and he wants to be able to monitor it from here in the US. Some of the things he must have are the following:

in simple terms.
*8 Cameras with live feed and recording available.
*POS system which he can also monitor remotely.

My thoughts on this project.

Im thinking 4 Computer systems:

*1 POS server
*1 Camera Server
*2 POS System
They have your basic DSL connection out there.

what are my options as far as being able to access everything remotely 24/7. with little downtime if any.

what do you guys recommend as far as cameras and monitoring software as well as remote access software.?

Im open for suggestions and comments

A:Overseas project

I would definitely upgrade the DSL line to something faster if you can get it. Monitoring web cameras over the Internet is going to take alot of upload Bandwidth at the store. If he wants 24/7 remote access with little down time the he needs to find a provider that will guarantee that within the service contract. That is going to cost extra money to get a better Internet connection with guaranteed minimal downtime.

A:MIlitary overseas

Theres a few things you can do, mostly proxy or VPN stuff try http://hotspotshield.com/ for an easy solution though I'm not sure what the performance will be like. I know it says stuff about security etc but thats for marketing reasons, it'll get you a US IP address.

For Xbox stuff you'd probably have to do something similar but at a router level, which might not be possible depending on the local network setup.

If you're on some kind of local base network with a range or domain specifically assigned to the military try contacting the local sysadmin and see if he can get it allowed or do something for you.

I'm ignorant of such things but I'd of thought the military would have been more sensitive to things like this, preventing culture shock and building moral etc.

So what do you all think? For an audio production workstation, would the i7 5820K be a good fit? Would Avid Pro Tools be able to utilize all 6 cores? If not, the 6700K may be a better fit when it comes out. But I would definitely like some input from people who know the software well may be able to tell me how it interacts with the CPU and whether I should go the quad core route or the 6-core route.

The 6700K does score higher on the PCMark, which is good for the creative side of things. But I want to know if it'll really be better in the long run. Of course, this depends on price as well (dollars per performance vs dollars per longevity).

I have a Sonar (Platinum) studio.

My recommendation when someone asks me about computers is to buy "overkill" or as much as your wallet can stand. This holds true for a DAW workstation or any PC. Thus if it were me and $$ is no object I would go with the 6700.

Hi,
The backstory is... I clicked on a close pop-up X on B&H Photo's website and Chrome was quickly covered in ads. I had Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 on my pc but it didn't detect anything before then. I tried system restore to the day before but it didn't solve the issue. After upgrading to KIS 2016 it found Dragon Branch and treated it. After a reboot it was back.

So I went into safe mode, disconnected from the internet and uninstalled it (it looked like it was installed with another program back in April), reset my browsers to their defaults, deleted temp internet files and emptied the recycling bin. I thought it was gone for a while, but then I noticed that files were missing from at least one of my internal hard drives. The files would be gone in a folder, but sub-folders remained (but were empty). For other files, I could see them but they won't open. While others were unaffected.

I saw on one of the forum pages to rebuild the search index. I started that but after 12 hrs, it was still less than 1/3 the way through (I have a lot of photo files). So I paused that and ran Malwarebytes - it found DragonBranch.A, OpenCandy and AceWebExtension.A. It treated them and after a reboot, rerunning Malwarebytes didn't find anything.

I then ran sfc /scannow - it found corrupt files but couldn't repair them all. So I ran it two more times (the post suggested that it may take 3 or more runs). At this point, I went to see if the files were back, but the hard drive ... Read more

A:1st files gone, now the drive - cleared Dragon Branch & ran sfc

Hi all,
Looks like they were two separate events happening at the same time. I starting going down that line of thought thinking the hard drive simply failed. But on some reboots I get an error message that no keyboard is found, even with a usb keyboard. I read in a different post that that is a sign that the motherboard is failing. When I plug the usb keyboard into a usb slot on a pci card, there is no error.
I had tried reboots before and it made no difference with the current issue. Then, when I thought I was taking out the defective drive just now, I took out the boot drive instead. A reboot quickly pointed that out. When I put it back in, the missing drive was back!
So, I'm now thinking its a motherboard issue. I'm copying the files across to another drive, as I type, in case it is the drive and I got a lucky window of access. Its probably time to build a new PC.
Thanks

I have a blog that I have StatCounter installed on. There is one person who harasses me and I've been logging his hits on my blog. If you're not familiar with StatCounter, it lists Date, Time, System, Location, Web Host, and IP address of everyone without a blocker who views the account. This dude looks at my blog about 50-100 times a day and I log each view. His info shows he uses Cox Communications, his city of residence, and the IP address he uses. When he uses his iPhone, it lists the iPhone as the OS and Cox as the web host. (which I don't understand if he's using a phone!!)

My question is this: he is claiming he is getting ready to go overseas for a few months. When he is away and looks at the blog, will it still say Cox Communications? Will it still list his city of residence and same IP address? And when he logs on from his phone, will it still have the same info? What will it look like from overseas if he views my blog? I want to make sure to keep my records up to date if he's viewing from his house but claiming to be overseas.

I really hope this made sense, if not I can clarify. Thanks, Chuck

A:Q about IP addresses and overseas access

When he uses his iPhone, it lists the iPhone as the OS and Cox as the web host. (which I don't understand if he's using a phone!!)Click to expand...

He may be connecting through his home internet access using Wi-Fi rather than his iPhone service from AT&T or Verizon or whoever.

I am currently overseas at a hotel with LAN internet access. I have never had this problem before and am positive that nothing is wrong with my laptop's hardware. Basically, the internet connection disconnects after a certain amount of time has passed -- after a few experiments, it seems that graphics intensive websites seem to trigger this disconnect -- the internet access is hi-speed not dial-up. I noticed that before the connection disconnects, my browser's lower left hand corner (indicating which websites are connecting to -- google-analytics.com always seems to show up, even though i never have purposely gone there). does this sound familiar? what could be the problem? it is also not simply a matter of re-connecting to the internet, the only way to get back onto the internet is to REBOOT my entire computer -- needless to say this gets very old after about 5 re-boots in a couple of hours -- the internet / tech folks here while very nice have been absolutely no help at all. Please help!!!

My friend bought Dell Inspiron15r-2106slv for me who's presently located in USA on November 23rd, 2012. Should I ask him upgrade it to windows 8 in US for $15 or can I update it in India for Rs.699/- ?

What about Microsoft Office 2010. Is it cheaper in USA?

Please help. Thanks.

If I connect to an overseas server, but the the VPN is based in the USA do I gain any extra layer of privacy protection from prying eyes from TPTB in the USA?

Does it make it harder for them by having to go to that countries legal system to get the IP or do they just easily find out the VPN is from the USA and the VPN gives me up like a rat

A:Do you gain anything using an overseas server with a USA VPN?

The VPN will give up your details faster than you can say "I'm innocent man". So no, you don't gain any additional layers of protection having a US based VPN, even if the server is based somewhere like Russia.

Im headed to a friend of mine in Amsterdam (Im in the US) and were going to be attending a LAN party over there. I need some advice.

As far as the power difference over there 115 vs 230 is the only thing I have to do is click the little switch on my Power supply 115 to 230 and get a compatible power cord or iare there settings in the BIOs I would also have to change and/or any specific component adjustment I would have to make?

Not taking my monitor (gunna get a loaner) so theres no reason to spend money on a transformer when I know you can just adjust the PSU to 230. But Im wondering about other stuff as stated above.

Thanks for any advice I could get!

I always spend the entire month of July traveling in the south pacific and August in France. I always bring my Dell Inspiron 6000 with me specifically to download my pics. When I can find a wifi site I try to read my messages and possibly send mail and surf the net. This tends to be a pain. Other times I buy a phone card and manually go onto the net. I was told there is another way. I can purchase some sort of card that goes into the PC card slot on the side of my laptop. I was told by Frisson, my cell phone company that they have this unit but I have to purchase a two year contract as well as the cost of the unit.
Is there anyway or anything that I can get/use so that I can get onto the internet for a specific amount of time(monthly is no problem)?
My e-mail address is [email protected] which is the best way to contact me.
