Thinkpad Yoga X380 - Scratching from being in Stand Mode

Q: Thinkpad Yoga X380 - Scratching from being in Stand Mode

I've had my X380 for only a few weeks now and I noticed it's already getting scratched from being in stand mode. I had an S1 Thinkpad Yoga for years and it never developed scratches from being in stand mode. I noticed that the rubber feet on the palmrest are not the high point but the area below the trackpad is and that's why it's getting scratched.I was thinking if I could get some more of the little rubber feet on the bottom of the palmrest I could maybe double them up to make them taller, but I can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know if these can be bought on their own? Or maybe another suggestion to prevent the scratching? I've temporarily stuck some black rubber strips on the feet to make them taller, but it doesn't look that great. Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I am a support engineer for our organization, working on deploying 2000 or so Yoga x380's at the end of the month.

We currently have an issue where all of these machines will blue screen if they are shut down. This has only started happening since they were updated to Win10 1803 (1703 was the previous installation, and no issues there) Going back to 1703 is not an option, unfortunately. Attached is a screenshot of the BSOD -
Code: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
What Failed: dump_storport.sys

I have:
Included the latest SCCM driver package in our repository and verified it is installing these drivers
Updated the BIOS to the most current (1.13?)
Manually downloaded and installed every driver on the "Drivers and support" page for this model, including multiple firmware flashes for every conceivable piece of hardware on the device
Run the disk cleanup utility to wipe away any trace of the previous 1703 install (windows.old)

Since we can't deploy like this, What can I do in order to get this fixed?

I received my X380 Yoga with the i7-8550u a couple week back and the first thing I noticed was the fan running almost constantly. I checked task manager and noticed that even though the CPU usage is remaining low, the clock speed is running at around 3.80 GHz.  My power profile is set to balanced with the minimum processor state set to 5%. If I change the maximum processor state to 99% then the clock speeds drop to below the base speed of 1.99 GHz and the fan quites down.  The problem is the CPU will never go above 1.99 GHz when set like this, so performance is noticeably reduced. I've played around in the bios and the only thing that seems to drop the idle clock speed is to turn off Intel SpeedStep which again stops the CPU from going above 1.99 GHz. From my experience with my past computers the CPU should clock down when the load is low. Is this normal behaviour for this computer and processor? I am I missing a setting, or maybe a program or process is demanding full clock speed from the processor? Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi there! My 2 month old yoga 720 occasionally does this weird thing, when turning the screen from laptop mode to tablet/stand, and back. The screen sometimes glitches out with grey stripes vertically filling the whole screen, or it just might go black. It seems like a bad connection to the mb or something, so the opening or closing of the screen twists or yanks a wire or something. This is of course irritating and now I'm not overly confident in using the laptop to it's fullest potential, fearing that I'll break something. So is there any self remedy for the issue, or can I open the machine and check if something is pinched or something? Specs:Make: YOGA 72015IKBType: 80X7BIOS: 4MCN25WWV1.10

Hi Lenovo Community, I'm facing pretty strange CPU Performance problems on the X380 Yoga with i7-8550U CPU. The CPU performance becomes very bad after some operating time. I understand the X380 has a limited cooling capacity, but this behaviour is pretty strange. Environment: X380 Yoga, i7-8550U, 16GB Memory, 512GB SSD, Windows 10 1703 Enterprise, SCCM Driver Package used for image building and installation. Bios Version 1.14 installed (most recent one). Drivers are all checked, and are the most recent version. Speed Step Settings in Bios are on Max Performance, on OS also on Max performance. Running Standard Office applications, like Outlook, Skype, Firefox and some management tools. After system boot everything is performing fine for about 1 hour. (I wasn't able to  record the exact time so far). After this, the system starts to get really slow, and shows a bad response time. As soon as some CPU load is applied, the CPU clock in Task Manager goes down, also the CPU load is not able to reach 100%. The CPU Temperature does not go over about 60 at this point. Directly after the system start it goes up to about 85C. I monitored the CPU with HWMonitor, and put some stress to the Laptop using Prime 95. After some minutes Torture Test I see following values in HWMonitor (see attachment Prime 1.jpg) After about 1 hour run time, I see following: (see attachment Prime 2.jpg) So, the CPU Clock is far down, all temperatures are not really high, no... Hello my fellow ThinkPad friends, I know that there are already a couple of threads out there concerning high battery drain when the device is completely shut down, but none for the X380 Yoga yet. In some cases (E-Series ThinkPads), a BIOS-Update was released to solve the problem. I would kindly like to ask the Lenovo team to try and figure out whether the same can be accomplished for the X380 Yoga.  When my device is shut down, it usually drains 10-15% a day, which cannot be a regular thing. Of course, I have tried all the usual stuff: - Windows Quick Start is off - USB-power when off is off- Wake-On-LAN or USB-C is off- BIOS updated to R0SET29W 1.13 If you have any other ideas, feel free to post them. Otherwise, I would really appreciate for a BIOS update that might adress the issue. It is kind of annoying charging your device for the weekend knowing that by the next day, you will already have lost 1 to 2 hours of runtime. Best wishes,Manuel

Hi everyone, I do have a strange issue with a Thinkpad S1 Yoga: after a fresh (clean) install of Win10, I have installed the relevant drivers - including the Lenovo power mgmt driver. So far, everything is ok. However, the device does not enter sleep mode when I am closing the lid. It seems that it rather changes to tablet mode.  After x minutes of inactivity, the devices enters sleep mode - also if I manually select sleep mode via Startmenu. So I think this is related to the detection of the lid function. Any chance to correct this? thanks. best, axeon

Hi Hello Just got my new X1 yoga, but even after reading the manual, couldn't figure out how to resume it from sleep? Getting it to sleep easy, lid down, windows menu or F4. When I came back to it, the screen is off, the fingerprit scanner has a light, but I cannot manage to get it back on unless i press 1 or 2 times on the power button, and then it resumes. Any other ways to do it?? I'm used just to press any key/mouse, to get it to resume, my old surface was like that. Sorry for the basic question, but the power button sometime takes as long time, as I think it's restarting the computer. Thank you

A:ThinkPad X1 Yoga how to resume from sleep mode??

Pressing the Fn key might do it if it has only been in sleep mode for a while, but after a period of time set under the power plan setting, it will go into hibernation mode  to save the battery power (it basically writes the system state to a file called hiberfil.sys, and powers off), and in that case you have to press the power button to resume. This might help too even though it does not explicitly mention your model.https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht075624 Take Care,

Over the last few months my Thinkpad S1 Yoga has developed a habit of randomly entering tablet mode when the lid is about 90-120 degrees open, as if the lid was swung past 180 degrees. Consequently the keyboard and trackpad are disabled when this happens. Closing the lid to force the computer to sleep and then opening the lid again removes the symptom. Moving the lid past 180 degrees sometimes makes the computer go into laptop mode again, or sometimes makes the display rotate 90 degrees while staying in tablet mode. I tried to remove the sensor in Device Manager and let plugnplay rediscover it but the problem remains. So I'm guessing this is a hardware problem? For now my workaround is to keep the sensor disabled (which means no tablet mode unless I Before I tear the computer apart and start replacing parts - it's out of warranty - any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi

I was not able to find anything interesting on the support site of your model:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...

I checked the change on the ELAN drivers from 12/1/2016, but it does not says anything about the touchpad not recovering from tablet mode.
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...

If you already installed this driver and didn't work, I don't have more ideas about it.

Over the past several years there are many posts of users experiencing variations on this problem with X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga of various generations, including the latest ones (I provide a list below). That is, the systems often cannot come out of sleep mode in some way, shape, or form. I had this problem on my own brand-new X1 Carbon 5th Generation, right out of the box. In my instance, I noticed this issue in the following two scenarios: -After having gone in to sleep mode, once I opened the lid, or press power button once:power light goes from blinking to solid onscreen stays blank/blackseems that if the machine is going to be in the frozen state, keyboard presses do not "unsleep" it (which they normally would). Closing the lid causes the power light to go to solid on, but then opening it again does nothing.in a couple of rarer instances, the machine actually did come out of sleep but then instantly the screen froze (but this was quite uncommon, mostly it just wouldn't come out of sleep at all)-After passing the initial boot screen of Lenovo, the next part shows the Lenovo logo but without the swirling dots and is frozen (the power light would show on)Under both conditions: The power light is solid onThe keyboard lights functionality works: backlighting, FnLock light, mute lightSometimes you can hear the fan workingPlugging in to external display does not display anything on itThe only way to rectify is to do a hard shutdown by holding the power key With... I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.
