Preferred Solution: Acer Aspire One freezes at 'start Windows normally' screen

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Update-- on black screen if I click on safe mode or safe mode with networking it does its thing but then after loads of things it just restarts back to that screen if I click last known config it get to the loading windows screen then I see a hint of blue screen then it restarts back to black screen start windows normally screen

Hi,

My girlfriends new ACER 5051 from ebuyer keeps freezing with lines down the screen
(see here - http://forums.ebuyer.com/showthread.php?p=106542&posted=1#post106542)
this seems to be happening more frequently....

I suspect bad memory as it only came with 512 so bought ebuyer value 512 (which is actually samsung - a good make i wud have thought) and i think both modules are faulty and the 'shared memory' ATI graphics chip is trying to write to the bad memory causing this freezing with bad screen...

I ran MEMTEST on each module and it showed 12 errors after 20mins on the ACER 512mb
and 2 errors after 15mins on the ebuyer... to be sure i ran MEMTEST on my old laptop that has 756Mb and showed no errors after 20mins...

Whats the chances of me buying a laptop and memory from ebuyer and both faulty???

has anyone else had problems like this or know if it is the memory>?

I just want to be certain of what it is as my friend sent his back to ACER twice (they had it 2 weeks each time and they didnt seem to do anything?) and the problem is it starts and like just now i have been on for 45mins and hasnt yet crashed..but it will...they are likely to ship it back to me as it is...so i wont have a 'repaired' laptop...

Any Advice will be greatlt appreciated

thx

Requires hard shutdown.

Freeze happens while playing video games or watching streaming.

Strange thing about two of these same models is the last driver available for the Nvidia 8200 display chip is from 2009, yet WUD pushes out 9200 drivers for it regularly.

I earlier today rolled back to the Nvidia 8200 driver from 2009. He's since played his usual games with no noticeable performance difference from the 2014 Nvidia 9200 Driver.

But I'd done this before for another PC of the same model to no avail. So I'm hoping one of the analysts here can see if you spot anything else in the upload.

Thanks!

A:Acer Aspire X1300 freezes light blue screen

Is it bugchecking?
I can't see any dump files in the .zip folder.
If it does BSOD does he use programs like CCleaner?
If so then it can remove dump files.

If it is just freezing then Driver Verifier might work some wonders in generating a BSOD.

Enable driver verifier but only enable the options: Standard settings and IRP logging step 3.
Don't enable Force Pending I/O Requests

Enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier -Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information

We use Driver Verifier as it puts a stress on the drivers, and so it makes the unstable drivers crash. This should flag the driver responsible in the dump file.
It

Driver Verifier will make the system laggy, this is normal so don't worry.

Before enabling DV, make sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer.

If there are no points, make a System Restore Point Manually

So I recently tried to do a factory restore on my laptop and it said it failed. I only did this due to having some DLL files missing. Now after the failed restore the laptop turned on and the Acer screen turned on and then the screen goes black and turns on again. It is stuck on a loop and I need help. I am currently running Windows 10 if that helps.

I recieved this laptop for my birthday on the 28th May, and has been running absolutley fine until about half an hour ago.
I turned it on and it wouldn't go past the "Acer" start up screen, so I turned it off manually and tried it again. Still the same problem and all the keys do nothing when I press them.

I've tried to look up solutions on the web but the only one says to re-install Vista with a disc, and mine came pre-installed with Vista and NO installation disc.

I'm unsure if this is a Vista problem or an Acer problem, so sorry if its in the wrong board.

Any help on how to fix this?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what's going on with our Acer laptop..

Turn it on and we get a blue screen saying the following

STOP: OXOOOOOO7E (OXCOOOOOO5, OX8OCF8640, OX88183554, OX88183250

acpi.sys-Address 80CF8640 base at 80CDE000, Datestamp 4549adb7

Also sometimes goes to a black screen saying repair, click repair and it just keeps going back the the same screen, can't even start it in safe mode.

not had it long so if I can't fix it myself then I'll take it back but would like an idea what's going on!
Acer didn't supply a disc with it, it's all preinstalled and the operating system is vista home premium.

cheers susan

As you've tried all the non-destructive methods, you can restore your PC back to defaults by holding the [Alt] key and tapping F10 as soon as you turn the PC on to access the recovery program. Have you recently installed any new software that could be pinpointed as the cause?

Good morning all.

I cam back home for a few days and my mother said she has a problem with her laptop. It's Acer Aspire 5736Z, CPU Intel Pentium T4500 / 2.3 GHz (Dual Core), RAM 3GB, and the OS is Windows 7 Ultimate, Service Pack 1.

The problem is that when she uses Skype, the whole PC freezes and the only way to fix it is manual restart. I used it yesterday for some time and after 3h of skyping with video , it did the same.
When I came home, I cleaned the whole PC, run the antivirus (nothing found), updated everything, uninstalled tons of programs she didn't need. I saw from another thread that people used Event Viewer to see the errors. This thing is FULL. I will copy the errors that are around the time of freeze (23:19-20), because I really don't know that much.

It almost always happens when i leave the computer idle(no mouse or keyboard interactions) for a couple of minutes. It also always freezes when I try to install the eight Windows Updates that I have. The freezing causes the fans to go up to max and forces me to hard restart the computer. Yesterday, I went on for eight hours without any freezes because I was active the whole time. And then, when I leave it for a couple of minutes the freezing starts.Have anyone had similar problems? Could it be something hardware related maybe? Help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have an Acer Aspire V5-122P-0679 laptop that has served me well for a few years.  When Windows 10 first came out and updated and everything ran great.  With update 1607, the system started freezing and became unusable.  It has all the latest updates (KB3197954).  I went back to the previous build (I believe 1511) and sure enough, windows 10 updated itself to back to 1607 (KB3197954).  I believe I saw the freeze issue with 1511.  When I booted in safe-mode, the system ran well and I saw no freezing.  I backed up my data and then did a restore (once saving the data and then the second time with disk cleansing install).   With the clean install, I see the freezing happening even before major configuration, application installation or data restore. With a fresh reboot...  Looking in Task Manager, no application started and sitting for some time, the CPU is running consistently at +35% with the System process running at +31.5%.  This appears to be consistent after multiple reboots and over long periods of time. All data/OS is stored on a single C:\ drive. Common situations when I see the freezing include but are not limited to:working with Settingsloading task managerdisplaying windows notifications pop ups (systems recovers when these windows go away)My son has a Acer Aspire V5-122P as well that is seeing the same issue.  Most of the post I read talk about this being resolved in some of the recent m... Hi!

My computer freezes randomly 1-5 times a day. The only event I could connect with freezing is a fast mouse movement but sometimes it freezes with no activity from my side at all. The computer is frozen and do not answer on Ctrl-Alt-Del n o mater how long I am waiting. The only way is to press on-off button and restart the system.

No BSOD at all.

Hi there, I have an Acer Aspire One and for some reason it will not start up. Every time I turn it one it shows the start up Acer screen for about 3 seconds then immediately shows an error that reads: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\hal.dll Please re-install a copy of the above file". It is an Acer Aspire One Model NO: KAV10 and SNID: 91011971916. Also, everytime i try to use the recovery option by pressing ALT f-12 it takes me to the recovery screen but does not allow me to even choose a recovery option. There is no disc drive but I do have a flash drive available if that file is in fact download-able. Or if anyone has a recovery disc that can be transferred to a flash drive that would be great. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, ALT + F10 when pressed at start up should bring up the Acer eRecovery environment.

At the Acer eRecovery screen
Choose the Recovery Actions - select Next.
Choose the Restore option.
There may be two to choose from, System Restore/Recovery - Reinstall Application/Drivers.
Choose System Restore/Recovery.

But all of your data and files will be lost and overwritten.
======
To try and save any needed data and files use a USB External DVD Drive - similar to one shown here.
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/compo...-drives/714_7571_70704_xx_xx/xx-criteria.html

Either use the DVD drive to re-install an operating system - or use the Linux Live Cd to find and save needed data and files.

A friend asked me to help him with this problem: He's got a Acer Aspire X1300 with a Win 7 Professional installed which hangs up at start up.
What can you see is the Windows Logo and "Starting Windows" coming up and then a dark screen and nothing happens.
I've tryied to re-install Win 7 booting from a DVD but it just won't start (never seen something like that before). System Recovery and all other trics from Acer do not work either.
The only solution I can see is to format the partition C somehow...any ideas?

A:Windows 7 don't start on my Acer Aspire X1300

Hello bobr, welcome to Seven Forums!

For a partition specific wipe (secure erase) of just the C: partition use Option Three of this tutorial at the link below.

Partition Wizard : Use the Bootable CD

If there's nothing on the entire Hard Disk Drive (HDD) that needs saved, you can use the Windows 7 installer using diskpart to wipe the whole HDD, see this tutorial.

SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

If you need to copy out the data first have a look at this third tutorial.

Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

In order to use the Recovery CD's, you would need to boot directly from them.

To do this, go into your BIOS, and switch your Boot Priority to boot from the CD drive before the Hard drive.

I really need some help!

Earlier today I was using my laptop (AcerAspire) And everything was working normally. Now, as soon as the 'Starting Windows' Screen pops up the entire computer freezes, and a thin strip of dead pixels pop up at the top of the screen. This means I cant reach the desktop, and I can only access the menus through the F# keys. When it starts, I get taken to a menu that says 'Launch startup repair' or 'start windows normally'. Going through the repair tells me no solutions can be found, and entering any of the safe modes also freezes the computer almost immeadiatly. What can I do?

Hi
So I own an Acer 7741G laptop and at a certain point, while shutting down, I had to shut it down using the power button because it was stuck somewhere.
- At first I could only use it in safe mode. When I tried normal mode it just stopped and went back to the startup screen (the one in which you choose the start up mode (normal, safe, safe with network etc...)).
- After that the laptop screen went black and I could only work with an external monitor from that point (coincidence? i don't know). Still the same thing: only in safe mode.
- While doing stuff in safe mode I suddenly only saw snow so I had to shut it down with the power button again.

Now I can only power my laptop on (all lights are burning correctly) but black laptop screen, black external monitor + the fact that it still only works in safe mode)

Any advice would come in handy considering these multiple problems
I never had problems with this laptop uptil now (own it for 2-3 years)

Hello,

I am working on an Acer laptop that boots normally except for the screen going blank after the windows loading logo in Windows 7. It does the same when booting to a Windows install disc. It gets past the initial screen when copying files and then goes blank. When connected to a second monitor, the monitor shows "video out of range". I tried booting to safe mode and vga mode with no luck on both monitors. The system loads into windows desktop as I can hear the Windows sounds and I can power down using the start menu blindly. The display works fine in the system BIOS and during the initial boot from disc or hard drive. I am thinking the internal video card is bad but want to explore other options before giving up.

So far I have:
Tested all hardware
Reset BIOS to defaults
Booted to VGA mode and safe mode
Tried Last Known Good Configuration
Cloned a drive from another machine with a good OS
Tried both the original Windows Vista OS and a new copy of Windows 7 from both CD and hard drive

Please help me get this stubborn laptop to output video normally!

My Acer Aspire 5612z, Dual-core celeron, 2GB ram, vista home premium 32bit, has two separate problems. Screen is filled with vertical red blue and white vertical stripes, if I tap the screen frame then the picture is ok for 30 mins or so, then goes stripey again. (Poss fault on FL board?).
Second, Laptop boots, 20 seconds, to Acer screen then stops.
Can only switch off power from that point.

A:Acer Aspire screen problem and only boot to Acer screen

Tapping the screen you could have a loose connection from the LCD Panel to the MOBO connector, but you see if you did the screen would dim out. In your case you have the the same issues that tell me that the LCD Panel is faulty. If this unit is still under warranty then have ACER service the unit or take it to ACER dealer who can either send it back to ACER or they can order the panel and replace it for you at no cost, but then it has to be under warranty. If not you'll have to pay the cost of ordering the part, labor to install it. Find out cost prior to signing any agreement.

On your other issue, did you replace or upgrade the battery or memory? If not then remove the battery and plugin the power only. Try this again does it boot the ACER logo and Windows. Can you put your ear down to the keys or palm rest and hear the HDD spinning up?
If not either the HDD is DOA or faulty power module on the MOBO or just bad MOBO. Again same as above if it's under warranty call or take it to ACER factory service dealer.

Make sure if you had a good battery on this laptop that all switches are switched to the lock mode for the battery.

This issue has been coming and going for the past month and the PC is only a few months new.

I'm starting to think its a hardware or major software issue sinced ive tried everything even re-installing Windows 8 that fixed it for a few days and then the issue re-apperaed and no I haven't downloaded anything that would of conflicted.

The issue does not appear in safe mode or firefox the last time I checked a few weeks ago.

Go to "Internet Options" in the Control Panel and go to the last Property Sheet. Slide the slider down to the bottom.

You'll see a bunch of protocols - "Use TLS 1.2" up to "Use SSL 2.0" - These settings affect Chrome too. Place a check in ALL of those items and then restart your Explorer or Chrome. I just had to do this from Teamviewer on a system that was doing the exact same thing for Gmail. Once I did it, all sites worked right.

I think the most important settings are the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) settings. But just to make sure, turn them ALL on.

I suspect this might be a virus of some sort. Yesterday, I was on msn when the program itself froze over. This had occurred the day prior yesterday so I just tried to close it out but suddenly the entire computer froze up. I turned off the computer, but it began to now freeze only about two minutes after start up.

I have tried scanning for a virus but my scanner and Malwarebytes freeze after a short amount of time.

I cannot reformat because the aspire one does not come with a cd or have a disk drive to put the disk in.

The interval for freezing can be anywhere betwen a few seconds to fifteen minutes, and it doesnt beep every time, just most of the time. I tried deleteing all files that didnt come with the computer, go into start menu reset to defaults. Still doesnt work :P HELP!!! A 2 month old computer should be covered by warranty. Possibly a ram issue.

I'm not sure if it's a virus or not. I was torrenting one night, and I decided to turn my laptop off because it was over heated, and I turn it back on and this is there.

I really don't know.

I've tried booting normally, last know config., safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with networking, and it either freezes there and does nothing or flashing a blue screen and reboots.

Acer eRecovery Management is not working, and I have D2D enabled in my boot options.

I have Windows XP Home Edition: 64-Bit. Service Pack 3.

Thanks.

Hi,

Can someone please help me? I'm a first-time forum user

I've got an Acer Aspire laptop here that has decided to stop loading/starting up.

When I turn the power button on:
- I can see the Acer logo screen (and also get into setup if I press F2)
- The cursor (_) blinks once or twice
- Then the screen just goes black/blank and stays that way

Twice (when I have left power on at the black screen), I have eventually seen this Windows Boot Manager message (maybe after 5 minutes each time):

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1.Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2.Choose your language settings, and then click "Next".
3.Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
Unfortunately, I do not have the Windows installation disk.

I have tried using a System Repair Disk (on DVD, burnt from another laptop with same OS)....but got stuck when the broken laptop didn't detect or couldn't read the disk.

I also tried the Alt+F10 system recovery, but after 20 minutes on the "Please wait a moment..." screen, I gave up and turned the power off.

Please help. Thanks.

Hello noob and welcome to Seven Forums.

Can you get into Safe Mode via the Advanced Boot Options menu? If yes, you can check for damaged or corrupt system files by running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two in the SFC tutorial.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

Safe Mode

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Another possibility from Safe Mode is to try rolling back your computer to a date/time prior to this problem occuring using a system restore point.

System Restore

If the above desn't help, one of the Forum experts prepared a troubleshooting guide for failure to start issues.

I have an Acer Aspire laptop running Windows XP Home. The system is showing 53 gb of c drive capacity with about 40 gb of available space and 512 mg of RAM. The system constantly freezes up and I have to hold the power button down to shut down the system and restart it. A lot of times after I start the system up I will click on the Internet Explorer icon and nothing will happen. The hourglass will appear for a brief second and then nothing happens. Some of the things that I have done to try to fix these problems are as follows: I installed a registry repair program which when I ran it the first time it found over 200 problems. I ran it again tonight and it showed over 100 problems. The Acer computers come with a dual partitioned drive. I have Norton Partition Magic and I was able to repartition the drive into one large one instead of two small ones. This did not help either. Programs installed on the laptop include: Microsoft Office Pro 2003, Targas docking station, in addition to web based database programs. Any ideas???

I was thinking about transferring all files and settings to another Acer that I have and reformatting the drive on the problem computer. I have a USB cable that I connected to both laptops but the file and settings transfer wizard never finds the connection. I don't know if I have the correct cable or if I am plugging it into the right place. Please Help!

A:Acer Aspire Is Slow And Freezes Constantly

There are a lot of possible reasons for this happening to your computer. My 1st guess is that if you've found about 100 problems with your registry or such, your best approach is to try to fix them 1st. You may need more tools than what you have.

If you have that many registry issues and they haven't fixed, that will in fact cause that sort of problem.

Post back what tools you have so we'll know the best approach to take. Also, I'll post some FREE tools that you should download and use.

Because of the problems you're having right now, I wouldn't do a file/transfer (settings),, because you may transfer the problem over to the other hard drive, or the same one that's been repartitioned.

You also need to do a couple of different virus scans and check out the results.

Noobie saying hi :)

Over the last month or so my lappy has begun locking up when under stress - running Football Manager and Chrome in background/ running a recent game (CoD: MW3). Sometimes it just happens when I'm playing a film in VLC.

The screen freezes, if sound is playing then it slows down and sounds like a growl, mouse doesn't move, caps lock/ num lock can't be pressed, processor light stops flashing.

This usually went away after waiting around a minute but a couple of times recently I've gotten a dreaded blue screen and Windows creates a dump for me - can anyone decipher these (attached) and see if they can find what my problem is?

Pentium Dual Core T4300 @ 2.10GHz
4GB RAM
Windows 7 SP1 64 bit
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570

Computer has been getting incredibly hot recently too - could this just be through overheating?

Thanks for any help1

A:Acer Aspire 5738ZG randomly freezes

Hi taipan99,

It definately sounds to me like a heating issue. Get a can of compressed air and blow the laptop out. Make sure it is off, unplugged and have the battery out (so that you do not turn it on by accident while cleaning it). Blow the air throughout the laptop making sure that you get where the vents are really good.
If the laptop still runs hot after blowing it out, you should either take it to a shop to get it cleaned (where they would take it apart to clean properly), or you could invest in a laptop cooler.

From time to time my cursor freezes either in a rectangular box at the top of the screen, or in a flashing circle at the bottom.  Sometimes both.  Any ideas what is causing it?  I've wondered if it is accidentally hitting a particular combination of keys? I've inserted a couple of screenshots to show what I mean.  When it happens it is almost impossible to use the machine and I have to restart it.

I Have an Acer Aspire 3050 that freezes occasionally and can not resolve this issue. When it locks up, nothing works (ctrl alt delete, power button, mouse..ect)
I believe I tried almost everything.
When it freezes, the only way to shut it off is to pull the battery out. I tried holding the power button for 5 seconds to no result.
I also replaced the ram, formated the drive and reinstalled both windows xp, and vista, replaced the hard drive, opend up the laptop to see if any dust was on the fans blocking heat dissepation....it is clean. I removed the Wi-Fi controller just incase, still the same.
The CPU fan still functions and its temperature is at a normal 50 degrees.

What else can I try?

It is and AMD Sempron 3500
512mb ddr2 ram pc 5300
80gb sata drive (also extra 160 drive i tried as well)

Please help me!!

Hello, I have an Acer Aspire V5-551. I forgot the password to my BIOS, so I disassembled the laptop and removed the CMOS battery for 30 minutes. Then I turned it on and noticed that it no longer boots into Windows, it won't let my go into BIOS  (still asking for the password) and it won't let me choose boot devices or go into recovery mode / factory reset. It's stuck on the "acer explore beyond limits" screen. Can anyone help me?

I have an acer aspire 5735z. It worked all fine except that around a month back, the laptop wouldn't turn on when I pressed the power button the first time. I have to keep on pressing it again and again for it to start.
Can someone please help me with this.

A:Acer Aspire won't start on first try

Yeah, the same thing happens with the battery and the adapter.
Once the machine turns on it runs all fine. The only problem is with it turning on, sometimes it starts up immediatey and sometimes it takes from somewhere between 1 minute to 10 minutes.

Someone suggested to open it up and check the power switch but since I'm new to this I don't wanna risk anything.

Hello.
Yesterday i logged on my computer and everything was normal but than a software i don?t remember installing or maybe it was part of the acer aspire one laptop that i brought, suddenly popped up and saying that i have 17 item found that were types of malware, trojan, or tracking cookie. Once in awhile later, announcement kept on popping up indicating that external hackers are trying to transfer my data to a dangerous site and they are trying to get connected to the internet to harm my laptop even more. Lots of windows started popping up intensely. I got scared and shut it down while trying to remove the software that was telling me that. I believe the software was called, ? Malware doctors?? or ?protection centre?? The software wouldn?t removed no matter how many times i tried. When i tried to turn on my laptop again?.it just stop to the point where the window xp loading screen. I try to start up in ? safe mode? , a bunch of numbers and letter started to appear and than it stopped and nothing happen after that and when i press ? last known good configuration? it just continue to the window xp loading screen again. I tried alt + f10 but it brings me to the acer recovery management and after choosing the recovery options that i want, it said it will restart my computer and it stops at the window xp loading screen again. Can someone tell me what my problem is? Do i really have something infected? How can i fix it?

You have a Intel processor with integrated graphics. You are not going to be able to play some games. You also won't be able to upgrade it into a gaming laptop. The N3540 is as far as you can go.

My new computer is working fine except for one big problem! When I turn it off, I can't get it to start again. I took it to best buy where it worked again and the tech said it was a static electricity problem and that I should unplug everything, press the start button for 45 secs to a minute and it should work again because the static electricity has been discharged. Tried it several times at home and that didn't work. The only thing that works is unplugging everything for about 8 hours and plugging it all in again. This is annoying and shouldn't be happening to a 2 month old computer! Anyone else have this problem? How can I fix this permanently and is it bad for my pc to just leave it on all the time for now? I tried chatting with an Acer tech, but I keep getting disconnected after waiting a long time. Any advice would by greatly appreciated!
