I am getting error 601 at boot up, and my battery went from working all day one day to less than 10 minutes the next. Error says battery needs to be replaced - but doesn't give a replacement part number. After literally HOURS on the HP site I still don't have one. HELP! I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Hello, Long story short, I accidentally spilled a good amount of Mountain Dew on the right half of the keyboard and it still functions most of the time, but it is sticky beyond belief. Is there any way to clean the keyboard or get a keyboard replacement? I just got off the chat service with HP and they were charging me $299.99 to fix it which is a ludicrous deal. I am considering self-repair at this point. Thanks.Read other answers
Hello. I recently bought Pavilion x360 11, and on pretty much every review site etc. there was written that the full charge should last for approx. 6 hs of browsing internet. I tested it twice just browsing internet, and not even that much because at the same time i was playing on my PC. Both tests ended up in laptop hibernating after 4-4.5hs. I must say that is rather low battery lifetime, specially for me as I bought it for outside use mostly. Can it be defective battery or maybe upgrade to win 10 would work it out for me ? (asking about win 10 because I've read couple general opinions about how it extended their battery lifetime from i.e. 6.5h to 9h ) Any help would be very appreciated, as I have to make a decision if i want to replace the laptop at store or not. Thanks in advance.Read other answers
I bought this laptop, new, yesterday. It charged all night. The specs say it has a battery life of 11.75 hours. That is the sole reason I decided to go with this laptop over one with better RAM. I just turned it on 30 minutes ago and it is 100% charged yet it only has a battery life of 5hr, 26 min. After 30 minutes of light use, it is 85% charged with 4hr, 3min left. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue short of returning the computer?Read other answers

Hi everyone, So, yesterday I started up my computer and the fan was running unusually high and then shut off immediately. I plugged my charger into my notebook and then started it up only to find the Primary (internal) Battery (601) message popping up. This laptop is just over a year old so I searched up on HP forums and found the fix where you uninstall the 'ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery', turn off your laptop, unplug the charger and charge it into a wall outlet, and then starting up your computer. I repeated that process twice and then my battery worked again. I ran a diagnostic test and it showed that my battery was still at 90% capacity. All seemed well so I went to sleep, only to find that the same problem occured when I woke up and tried to turn on my computer - wouldn't start, alert message, uninstalled the driver twice and then it finally worked, and my battery is holding its charge now. Does anyone have any suggestions or input that might be helpful? Thank you.Read other answers

4.5 hours is actually very good. The 9 hours is based on some conditions not likely to be duplicated in the the real world. The best thing you can do to make the battery last longer (runtime) is to turn down the screen brightness and turn off bluetooth and wifi if you are not using them. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01297640Read other 1 answers

Hi, Voltage is the main concern. 71W in theory will run longer between charge and 48W will run shorter. Given they are compatible, I would go for 71W battery (probably more expensive). Regards.Read other 1 answers

I am looking at options to replace a battery in an HP Pavilion dm-1xxx series laptop, specically dm4-1050ea and dm4-1164nr and dm4-1150ea, but I am confused over battery compatibility. The HP manual, HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide (http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02615687.pdf) gives 9-cell, 93-WH (2.80-Ah) Li-ion : 593550-001 6-cell, 55-WH (2.55-Ah) Li-ion : 553594-001 6-cell, 62-WH (2.80-Ah) Li-ion : 593562-001 so any of these 3 are interchangeable between the -1050ea and the -1150ea ? no, it seems not - read on.... but I see that in the manual for the dm4-1164nr (also the M&S Guide for dm4-1140sa and dm4-1150ea, I now learn), also titled The HP manual, HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03106715), that while the lower rated batteries have the same p/n, the higher rated on is described as9-cell, 100-WH (3.0-Ah) Li-ion : 636631-001 Are these two 9-cell batteries interchangeable, ot not ? They must have physically the same form because they both accept the same lower rated batteries and also have the same elec. spec - 10.8V ? If they not compatible, can I be instructed as to why not ? (eg, they aren't the size, incorrect pin-out, internal resistance too high/low, etc) I see that the maintenance and service manual are split into 10xx and 11xx versions, but question regarding the 9-cell batteries still ... I need to replace the onboard 128 SSD with a 512 Transcend SSD370. I want to know exactly IF and WHICH bracket and connector I need to use. The guide mentions this 2: ...The solid-state drive bracket and solid-state drive connector adapter are included in the solid-state drive Hardware Kit, spare part number 809826-001..........The hard drive bracket and hard drive connector adapter are included in the Hard Drive Hardware Kit, spare partnumber 808238-001. ... Which one then?
The Manual could be a little clearer but the hard drive options in this model are like a Chinese Menu...one from Column A or one from Column B, but not both. According to the specs, your laptop has a 128 gig M.2 mSSD. Your Service Manual See p. 14, items 12, 13 and 15. Also look at the bay in the lower right corner of the diagram on p. 14 and also look at page 29. Page 29 does not show it, but if you open up the laptop you are going to find a small "gumstick" type M.2 mSSD drive and an adapter (items 12 and 13) filling up that bay. If you wanted to install a larger (bigger capacity) M.2 mSSD all you need is a "gumstick" M.2 drive of larger capacity. If you want to install a 2.5 inch SSD SATA drive of the same dimensions as a hard drive then you need item 15 part number 808238-001, which you do not have, plus the 2.5 inch SATA drive. The SSD370 you speak of is a 2.5 inch SATA SSD. It would be easier and cheaper just to install a 512 gig M.2 mSSD gumstick module. http://www.amazon.com/ADATA-USA-Premier-0-85-Inch-ASP900NS38-512GM-C/dp/B00LBEOOPQ/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&i... The cost of a SATA SSSD of the 2.5 inch variety and a 512 gig SATA-based M.2 are about the same, as is the speed of them. Your laptop cannot use the NVME/PCI-e type M.2 modules which are more expensive but also a couple times faster. Changing out the SSD is going to put the warranty in potential jeopardy I feeel like I have to say but I personally would not let that stop me. B... Read moreRead other 1 answers

Can you identify where you tried to put the mSSD by reference to the Manual here: Manual See p. 28. It uses M.2 SATA drives and if the drive you installed is a PCIe type it will not be recognized. AHCI type drives only as far as I can see. I know only the very most recent desktop motherboards will boot from a pcie M.2 mSSD. I have an HP Spectre x360 with a 2 year ADP coverage. I purchased the laptop in US... but I am currently employed and working in India. My screen has got damaged and needs to be replaced, but the local service center is unable to verify the ADP care pack details in India. I purchased this laptop after doing my research that the product is marketed in India and will be supported here. However, now the local tech support is saying that the Family name - pike1.0 not available in India and the laptop cannot be serviced even if the ADP is avaiable. As per the ADP contract, HP Support can courier the necessary parts to the local service center and my laptop can be serviced. How do i resolve this issue?
Hi, Yes, they say the true, many HP laptops asre localized that means HP local can only help you (a) Order part)s) from original country and repair it for you or(b) You have to send machine back to the original country (in this case the US) for repair. Warranty or not, same rule. Please read (very similar to your case): ANSWER: You can call HP Customer Support or HP Authorized Support Providers for diagnostic purposes. If a hardware service is required, two alternatives can be offered: The part can be dispatched by HP Customer Support or the HP Authorized Support Partner within the border of the country where they are located. It is your responsibility to get the part from this location, move it to the PC, and to return the defective parts - when required - to the same location. Associated costs are your responsibility. The PC may be moved, under your responsibility and at your cost, to the closest country where HP has support presence, or any other country chosen by yourself (depending on the logistics network), in order to get access to the solution. When HP has no support presence in the country of use, all actions and costs required to gain warranty services are your responsibility. Here is the Manual: Service Manual There are 4 different AMD motherboard depending on if you have the A8 processor or the A6 and Windows Standard or Pro. I recently received the HP Pavilion x360 laptop as a gift. By the second use it was evident that something was wrong with the touchscreen. It will occasionally go berserk and self-activate, in which a poltergeist is seemingly tapping my screen incessantly and opening programs, windows, and files. The touch screen animation of little taps across the screen clicks up and down the left side of my entire screen, causing the most disturbance when it clicks within the Windows 10 start menu, where it clicks open programs, etc. While this is happening, I cannot even control the mousepad, as the cursor is incessantly being dragged back to where the touchscreen is being activated. In the end I always have to force shut-down, and generally I can reuse it for a while (maybe like four hours or so?) before I have to go through the whole cycle again. I have not noticed a pattern yet regarding when it occurs. Sometimes it's write when I start the laptop; sometimes it's after I've been using it for an hour or so. Tactics I have tried:Uninstalling and reinstalling touchscreen driverChecking for updatesRe-Calibrating the touchscreen Eventually just going into Device Manager and disabling the touchscreen altogether. I bought HP Paviion 130 x360 from Future Shop a month ago. At that time, I didn't get any pen or pen drive software. So I'm just wondering if it's their mistake or I should buy one.
If possible, I'd like to use one of these pens: Lapazz tablet ??8060 pen, stylus pen, and a pen for HP tc4400 tablet pc.
Also, I want to use pen pressure for photoshop.
If I have to buy the pen:
1. What pen will fit for my laptop?
2. What pen drive do I need to install?
3. Do I have to buy both of them? can I download a free software from HP website ?
I really need the pen pressure system.
If I don't need to buy:
1. Can I get a digital pen from Futureshop/Best Buy? (I don't know much about Tablet PC and It was first time to buy a laptop by myself)
2. Unless, Does one of pens on top work on my laptop and to use pen pressure? I tried to touch the screen with them. Only stylus worked.
3. Can I use Lapazz tablet pen as a digital pen/ a stylus?
Unless I'm missing something, this is a touch screen which you use your finger to navigate rather than a mouse. If you are more comfortable using a mouse you can use a usb type with the laptop. I personally don't know anyone who uses a stylus on a laptop touch screen.
Just out of curiosity, where did you read that you needed to use a "pressure pen"?
I have to replace the battery on a toshiba L355-S7915 laptop. Which battery is better? The Toshiba battery or the B-5040H from battery-biz. anyone use battery biz?

I think with batteries the big thing is Watt/Hours. (Don't quote me on that tho)
You might be better off using the same battery as the one you had before, simply for the sake of reliability.
It also will depend on what you use this laptop for.
