Is GTX 1060 graphics card compatible with an older Vostro (motherboard 0YJPT1)

Q: Is GTX 1060 graphics card compatible with an older Vostro (motherboard 0YJPT1)

I have an older Vostro running latest Win 10, with a 0YJPT1 motherboard which has a PCI Express and I am trying to add a GTX 1060 graphics cards. Have updated BIOS, turned off Secure boot, enabled legacy mode and installed the drivers but the graphics card won't work - no input is being sent to the monitor.
What else can I try? Or is the motherboard not able to support the graphics card.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Is GTX 1060 graphics card compatible with an older Vostro (motherboard 0YJPT1)

Most of these require a 6- or 8-pin direct connection to the power supply -- if yours does, how are you powering it (most power supplies in Inspiron/Vostro don't have the required connector)?

A:Is the ATI Radeon 9550 / X1050 graphics card compatible with a Dell Vostro 200?

If the card will fit in the box it'll probably work for you. When I looked up Dell Vostro 200 they were built into two kinds of cases. There was one type built in a slim case and the other type built in a mini case. The mini case is much wider than the slim case. It looks like both types of cases sport motherboards with X16 PCI-E slots for adding an aftermarket video card. Trouble will arise if your 9550/X1050 video card has an AGP connector instead of a PCI-E connector, or you have a full size video card and a slim case.

I'm currently using an older P4 motherboard ASUS P4S800D-X and Radeon 9800 AIW with Windows 7 Pro 32bit. Whenever I run a game for a certain length of time (usually a minute or two).. or something graphically intensive I get a blue screen error. I've tried just about every solution going.

- BIOS - newest is 2006
- Vista drivers for graphics installed in compatibility/administrator (9.11 currently)
- Turned down W7 graphics features

Games will play for a little while (Battlefield 2/2142) and then the system will lock up. Multitasking with graphics and Video will lock it up, or right into reboot. Upon reboot I'll get a Blue Screen Kernel-Power event id:6 (something about firmware needs to be updated for BIOS etc). Also a WHEA-Logger I just noticed in Event Viewer (Processor Core - Internal Timer Error).

"Some processor performance power management features have been disabled due to a known firmware problem. Check with the computer manufacturer for updated firmware." <-- That's the kernel power event.

None of this happens under Windows XP Pro under vigorous stress testing. I've tried all the power management settings in BIOS and 7 (performance mode). From what I've read on these forums, it's probably just better to give up as ASUS doesn't seem to be providing the BIOS required to work with Windows 7. It looks like you have more then enough slots and space for the GTX 1060 and your PSU should handle it well DEPENDING on what other hardware you have installed as this machine can be configured many different ways.

Hi, I believe I've had a motherboard failure so I've gone and bought a 2nd hand m/b and cpu combo off ebay to replace it.

The cpu that comes with it is compatible with the motherboard apparently.

Will my ATI Radeon™ HD 2400 Series graphics card be compatible with an ASUS M2A-VM/V-M2A690G/DP-MB and AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ socket AM2 CPU ADA4600IAA5CU 2.4 GHz Windsor dual core CPU?

Any way to find out?

Checked on the graphics card page http://www.amd.com/us/products/desk.../hd-2400/Pages/ati-radeon-hd-2400-series.aspx but it doesn't tell me if it's compatible there.

If compatible, any issues expected on windows 7, or anything I have to do/bear in mind? Will Windows 7 find all the drivers for me, and install them automatically, and if so, will I need to go and uninstall all my old m/b drivers, and any changes in the bios etc I need to do?

Thanks.

Hi, I currently have an GTX 750Ti installed in my M93p Tower. This is the one I currently have: http://www.inno3d.com/products_detail.php?refid=37 It is a very short card, so it fits without issues and also dont need any PSU upgrade. I however need a faster card and wanted to know wether a fullsize Graphicscard will physically fit or not before I buy one. I would like to install the following card: https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1060-GAMING-X-6G.html The problem I see apart from the Bios Whitelist and PSU upgrade is that the sata and external USB Port and cable will block the card if it is too long. So my question is wether somone who has a fullsize Graphiscard available could tell me wether such a long card will fit into the PC either will all the SATA and USB Cables installed other alternatively with those cables detached. I would be thankful if someone could give feedback. Thanks!

Hi

I just installed a Uspeed USB 3.0 PCI-E Card and Uspeed Front panel. I ran the setup provided and the drivers appeared to install ok. It didn't work so I uninstalled and tried again. This time the USB ports worked but I don't think I'm getting USB 3 speeds. In fact, I'm pretty sure, as I compared the same file downloaded to my computer from a USB3 Memory stick and vice versus using both USB3 and USB2 ports. The results were the same almost.

I wonder if there are any settings in Windows that might restrict the speeds the ports can work at? I've emailed the mnfr of the card and front port panel but I've heard their not to good at responding.

Anyone have any ideas or experience of these items? Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved. Thanks.

You may try looking up the card on their web site and seeing if there are updated drivers. There usually are. In many cases the drivers on the provided disk are quite old. You may also look in Device Manager and look fot the pcie card or the USB3 hub and see if there are any yellow triangles on them and look at the properties to see if there are any error messages.

A:Which graphics cards are compatible with my motherboard?

You can't always tell with brand manufacturers since sometimes they will have the MB makers modify their boards. However, in this case it looks like any of the AGP video cards will be compatible with the MB. Where you will have to watch things is the card's power requirements. Many of the brands will have a PS on the small (meaning output) size.

Hi all,
I recently bought a Vostro 3668 i7 7700 that came with a R9 360 card. From a little search on the web I saw that the TDP for this card is 85W, so I thought that it wouldn't hurt If I buy a 1050 Ti with 75W TDP  (/w stock speeds no extra power cables) to replace it.
Is there anything that I should be aware off? Any BIOS settings? Does it matter that I replace a single slot card with a dual slot card?

Unless your applications require nVidia support, this is going to be a lateral move, not an upgrade.  Those two GPUs are pretty evenly matched in terms of performance.
Yes, it may matter in terms of size - many smaller cases like the one you have won't take a dual-slot card.

Hello,
I have a Vostro 460 and I wanted to upgrade the graphics card. I just bought a Gygabye with nVidia GeForce GT 730 2GB GDDR5 card assuming it was going to work fine on this PC. Wrong assumption. It simply does not boot. It displays the initial POST but it doesn't go past it.
This video card is PCI-e 2.0. I tried to check prior to the purchase the PCI-e version of the Vostro's motherboard and with big effort I found in one the posts of this forum that it's 2.0 (it doesn't say anywhere, motherboard or manuals). Also, the minimum hardware requirements are met: minimum 300W power supply: the stock PSU is 350W. Cool!  But no so cool, it's not working.
The BIOS's firmware is up-to-date. I can't figure out what's the problem as the card is compatible with the motherboard. It should have worked first hand. And I don't think the power is a problem.
Any ideas?Thank you

Hi
I have recently acquired a Dell Vostro 460 i5-2400 with the onboard Intel HD-2000 graphics.
I am wanting to upgrade the graphics card to support HD video streaming and some gaming.

I have a budget of about £50 and am considering the following cards which appear to be compatible with a 300W PSU:
nVidia GeForce GT 730
nVidia GeForce GT 720
Has anybody had an success/issues using these cards with a Vostro 460? I am open to other recommendations or suggestions that fall within my budget.
Thanks

NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 420
ATI® Radeon® HD 5450
ATI® Radeon® HD 5670
pci-e cards are tested by Dell and are compatible. GT730 is not tested.

If possible, please can somebody add a list of more modern cards that are tested as working with this desktop?
I might just have to bump my budget to £100 and get a GTX 750 ti (assuming this will actually work!?)

Hello,

I have a M4A78T-E ASUS motherboard from 2010 that I need to replace the built in (motherboard) video with a PCI express video card. The M4A78T-E manual states that it takes PCI express 2.0 cards. I bought a "EVGA 01G-P3-2611-KR GeForce GT 610 1GB 64-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card" for it. I inserted the new card and left the video plugged in to the motherboard HDMI. When I powered up with this card I don't even get to POST, nothing at all on screen. This video card comes with a mini HDMI and I couldn't plug in to it!. I also don't have a DVI so I couldn't try that. I tried this new video card on a computer at work and it worked like a charm (DVI).
Could this be an incompatibility issue? I assume that leaving the motherboard video enabled is perfectly OK, and should allow 2 videos aboard. I would be hesitant to disable the motherboard video in case the card didn't work, so I could get back to using the motherboard video.

Hello everyone. My HP computer, which had been originally a Windows XP, has been upgraded with Windows 7 as its new OS. Everything works fine except for one problem: the video card.

I believe my card is of the NVIDIA GeForce 7900 series, and it is a couple years old, about 2008. It can't be detected by Windows 7, and I've tried downloading drivers too, to no avail. I'd just get a message saying the system is not compatible. I'm pretty much assuming here that the card is too old to work with Windows 7. I'd really like to upgrade the video card, but my father doesn't want us to spend the money and wants us to find another way around it, to make this current card work.

But I'm just not sure how. If anyone has the slightest idea of what to do, I'd be so grateful.

Thank you.

Sounds like the card maybe faulty, all 7900 series are windows 7 compatible, As you can see from this page Windows 7 Compatibility for Nvidia 7900: Drivers, Updates, Downloads

I could only suggest testing the card in a different PC or maybe trying to manually install the drivers through device manager

i can't find the driver in the download

A:Vostro 15 3568 built-in Graphics card for windows 10 32 bit

Dell doesn't support 32-bit on this model -- Intel should have a driver though.

I wish to revert back to the original driver for my graphics card.

Can someone help me with a step by step instruction as to how I can remove recent driver updates?

Thankyou.

A:Solved: Reverting to older driver for Graphics Card.

Right-click MY COMPUTER, then click Properties - Hardware - Device Manager, then click the + in

Display Adapters

What's the description listed there?

Double-click that description to open its properties window, then click the "Dirver" tab.

What's the driver date and driver version listed there?

---------------------------------------------------------------

Go to Control Panel - Add Or Remove Programs.

What's listed there that's associated with the video card?

--------------------------------------------------------------

Why are you wanting to revert back to an older driver version?

A:Dell Vostro 200 wont Boot up after Installing new Graphics Card

Maybe try different version of the drivers. I had one recently that the updated drivers killed the system. Also, is it possible the card could be defective?

I am wanting to add a USB 3.0 card to my PC and only have one slot free inside, its labelled in the manual as a PCI Express slot, but the slot looks a lot longer than the one on the USB card i am looking at buying? Can anyone tell me if it will work and only use part of the slot or if it wont work at all?

I've attached a screen shot of the motherboard manual and highlighted the slot i have free and a photo i took to try and show it

The item i've seen that i was looking at buying is this one:

According to the owners manual the first few lines of the BIOS/System Setup section indicates that the amount of memory dedicated to the integrated graphics and the ability to enable or disable it are options in the BIOS.  The BOOT method is Legacy instead of UEFI, the BIOS has been reset, default options loaded, etc and no where are the specified options visible.  BIOS is version A7 which I believe was the version that it was shipped with and the latest.  This is not a huge issue, but the fact that the option is missing from BIOS and needlessly using a bit of RAM is enough to see if anybody is aware of an issue.
I haven't contact support yet as I just got the box yesterday as a replacement machine at work.  I have already torn the thing apart looking for the old school jumper method of turning off the integrated graphics with no luck there either.

A:No way to disable integrated graphics on Vostro 270S when using PCIe addon card

Just a bit more information.  The add-on card is a NVidia NVS280 or NVS285 LP with pigtails to dual VGA.  With monitors hooked up to that card it has worked perfectly fine so far.  I haven't tried one monitor on the integrated card and the other on the card to verify both are still working, but the Intel integrated graphics still shows up in device manager and is using system memory.

Hi
I have a Vostro 460 MT from Dell.
The Specs:
i5-2400
8GB RAM
320GB HD
Stock PSU - 350W

I had a NVIDIA GT 210 card in previously which I sold and bought an R7 240 to upgrade with. When plugging in the R7 240 and booting up. I get NO VIDEO SIGNAL. NO BIOS SPLASH SCREEN etc.
NOW if I take the card out and use the onboard VGA it works fine. The NVIDIA GT 210 worked fine too.

Why does this card not work? Is there a solution to my problem?

Is the XFX Radeon 7970 video card compatible with a an Asus P9Z68-V LE motherboard? I'm rather confused with Crossfire and SLI, is it Crossfire allows multiple Radeon video cards and SLI allows multiple NVidia video cards?

A:Is this video card compatible with this motherboard?

Yes, the card is compatible with the mobo.

Your Crossfire and SLI understanding is correct. However, it extends to GPU's, not just 'cards'. Cards like HD7990 and GTX690 use Crossfire/SLI internally as they have two GPU's on one card.
