2 issues: Programs fail to start with Windows, error in Event Viewer log

Q: 2 issues: Programs fail to start with Windows, error in Event Viewer log

I've recently installed Windows 7 on a new pc and am having 2 distinct issues.

The first is that I have found that I am unable to make many programs start with Windows. Avast will, as will AI Roboform and Open Office but other simply refuse to do so. My firewall (Look n Stop) for example has the option "Start with Windows". Checking the box has no effect, the program fails to start with Windows. This issue is repeated with a number of other programs e.g. Speedfan, Peerblock

In addition adding the programs to the Startup folder has variable success. The firewall for example does load on startup when added to the startup folder but neither Speedfan or Peerblock do.

The second problem is that I am registering the error "The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: EIO_XP" in the Administrative Events section of Event Viewer.

I've searched everywhere and have been unable to find a copy of this driver. It appears to be associated with the ASUS Smartdoctor utility which I do not have. I did download and install it to see if that corrected the problem but it did not and I have since uninstalled it.

I am running Win 7 (64bit).

Any suggestions much appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Are the programs with which you are having problems compatible with Windows 7 64-bit?

1. Every time I boot up the computer, the following error is generated in Event Viewer:
Source: DistributedCom, Event ID: 10010

The server {F9717507-6651-4EDB-BFF7-AE615179BCCF} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

This key pertains to appID WinInetBrokerServer (CLSID WinInetBroker). I tried adding permissions to the key(s) but that didn't solve the problem. In the permissions for the key, the first user name listed is named Account Unknown (S-1-15-2-1).
I think maybe that may have something to do with it. I deleted the 6 registry keys associated with this key and everything worked but I was locked out of Windows XP Mode (Windows Virtual PC). I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to fix this error?

I installed a free event viewer app and noticed that I sometimes get this error which is pointing to the search service - it IS disabled and thats why it probably fails, but what I cant work out is why its even trying to launch the service?

I went to uninstall Windows Desktop Search 4.0 and it said that it may have already been uninstalled and removed it from add&remove programs

I use XP SP3 32-Bit

I think its happening when I boot the computer, ive checked services and startup using Autoruns & HJT and theres nothing to say that Windows Search or anything using it is running at boot, ive ran MalwareBytes and SAS and gotten clean results..

if anyone could help with this it would be great - its not causing any problems, im just curious as to whats causing it too run?

thanks

I'm having some issues with my computer and I'm not sure what caused it. I trying to open WordPad and I got a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error that this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. So I try to check the error in Event Viewer and I get the same error. I tried to go into Services, Computer Management, Device Manager, and I get the same error. There's no error codes or anything else that appears to pinpoint the error. No problems when in Safe Mode. Any ideas on how I can get this fixed without having to reinstall Windows 7? I have Windows 7 64-bit home edition.

Welcome to our forum ledgema.

The first thing I would try is sfc /scannow to check Windows 7 system files.
Here is a tutorial by Brink to guide you.

I have a custom built PC, installed with Windows XP. Lately its been having trouble, but it is full blown rebellion as of last night. I think its probably a virus but I'm not that experienced with diagnosing.
Issues:
`My web browser (FireFox) crashes when trying to view certain things; PDF files are the main crash point
`I have a 16 GB flash drive that I have to reformat it every time I use it, which doesn't fix the problem it just lets me transfer again until I have to format it again.
`I have two hard drives that make up c,d,e,f,i,j,and k drives. When I opened "My Computer" I,J,and K:/ were missing. I couldn't see or access them.
`Its been freezing up a lot; forcing me to reboot
`(most recent)Now when I try to reboot it will rapidly switch screens from the black scanning, log in, windows xp (with the blue bar filling up), and a blue error screen. The blue error screen says to reboot if its the first time i've seen this; then it gives steps to follow if i've seen it before.

I've tried to run it in safe mode and it hasn't worked.

Please if you have any ideas let me know. Is it possible to recover my saved files? I backed up my files awhile ago but it is saved on a drive that is missing (I,J,or K) If you need more info just ask. Thanks for your help

A:Windows XP Crash Issues - Hard Drive fail, start up fail

Hi there
So what I gather is that you now cannot start your computer up at all, due to this issue. I'm actually unsure of the problem, it sounds to me like a Virus has been at your computer. It can't really be a hardware issue I don't think... I mean it is possible that what could have been happening is that your computer (Desktop or Laptop?) is overheating and its been damaged because of that... But that wouldn't really make sense, and also having Custom Built a computer I'm sure you'd have been smart enough to install a thoroughly capable cooling system.
It sounds to me like your hard drive has been corrupted though, BSOD usually means a pretty big issue. Thats why I was thinking hardware problem to begin with, you don't often get it for Virus's.
A couple of things we need to know:
Do you have any sort of Anti-Virus installed? If so, which one? How frequently did it scan? Did you find any virus's?
Also, how far into the boot process does the computer get before it loops? Are you able to enter BIOS settings before Blue Screen comes up and it loops? What happens when it loops?
And do you have a startup / boot disk for your computer. You certainly should do.

Okay so I've had this problem for about a year, every once in awhile I try to solve it but never can.

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.

Here are all the problems I know about.
Windows Firewall: When I attempt to run it it says "Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings. Error Code 0x8007042c"
When I try to open it from the Services menu it says "Windows could not start the Windows Firewall service on Local Computer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start."
Event Viewer: MMC could not create the snap-in. CLSID: FX:{b05566ad-fe9c-4363-be05-7a4cbb7cb51

Programs Stop working
: So, the problem here is that everytime I open game maker HTML5, game maker studio, game maker 8.1 and the installation of the program from getpaint.net, and some other programs that I uninstalled awhile ago. I get some form of "has stopped working" error. Generally it's due to an updater has stopped working.

When I run a game with Game maker studio I get this error. "GMAssetCompiler has stopped working."

When I open 3ds max 2012 I get this "3ds Max has detected that the required .NET framework version is not properly installed." However, I do not get that error from 3ds max 2013 and it runs fine. I have tried to reinstall .NET framework 10-15 times.

Hi all,

i tried loading the eventvwr.msc file from system32 folder directly as well as from the administrator tools, but i get:

so i try to start the event log service, from the services.msc program;

"Windows could not start the windows event log service on local computer.
Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified."

how can i specify the path?
or
how can i resolve the problem?

any help would be appreciated please---thanks

A:HELP need to solve this problem asap - Unable to start event viewer/event log service

Fire up regedit and find this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog

With "Eventlog" highlighted on the left pane, you should be able to see a value called "ImagePath" on the right. ImagePath should be equal to this:

%SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe -k LocalServiceNetworkRestricted

If you can't see "ImagePath" in that location, or if it's not set to the text above, that's almost certainly your problem. If you're in the habit of using "registry cleaners", that might be the cause.

My goal is to start Windows Event Viewer from a command line, with the Application node already selected, showing only entries for my specific application, or provider? In other words, I need to filter it by the Source column for the "Application X" using command line call:

So far I could figure out that I need to do this to show Application node:

Code:
eventvwr /c:Application
but I can't figure out how to specify provider in the /f: parameter, and the example given if I run "eventvwr /?" does not help much.

Any idea how to do it?

Hi All,

I've had an issue with Event viewer unable to start due to "endpoint mapper database entry could not be created" Error 1899. I have done a SFC and have had some but not all issues fixed, I have a log of the result and maybe could post if needed. I've also done a system restore to a previous working config but no luck, the problem still persists. Has anyone had experience with this issue and know a fix for it?

Regards
Hiconic

A:cannot start event viewer "Error code 1899"

It's no wonder people slag off Microsoft for the lack of support. This issue has effectively stopped me from doing any back up on my PC as without the Event logging service or Event viewer service running the Back up cannot be set as it's dependent on these services which are hog tied by this endpoint mapper issue! Another Windows endless catch 22 loop!!

I can't believe no one has anything to offer on this issue! I've seen this issue raised on several forums but as yet no one seems to have the solution, which begs the question where are all the experts out there specializing in Windows 7? Suddenly, nothing happened!!

Every time I boot my laptop I get error message Event ID 11 in Event Viewer. The details are:

Custom dynamic link libraries are being loaded for every application. The system administrator should review the list of libraries to ensure they are related to trusted applications.

This is listed under AppInit_DLLs in the registry and the dll being loaded is nvinitx.dll, from what I can find out this has to do with the optimus function on my laptop and having it loaded is okay. I just want to get rid of the error message being logged everytime I boot.

Using Adminisrative Tools, ALL of the applets (Event Viewer, Services, Performance, etc.)

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000007b).

I have used msconfig to disable several autorun apps and have rebootd into safe mode but no change.

I am turning the computer off now and will leave it off for a week as I will be out of town. I will connect back to BleepingComputer.com when I return. Hopefully someone will relate to the problem which I hope is capotured in the attached log info.

Hi Celeras

Not sure f I could be of much help but have a look at this thread in relation to time-synchronization. You could try that to see if the issue persists.

Did you download/install any Windows-updates for your OS recently?

Hello,

I built this PC last Christmas and have been having some issues with it. I have reset all hardware to factory defaults in the BIOS just to rule out any issues with overclocking. The first problem I got is I am getting random BSOD that say System_Thread_Exempt_Not_Handled (atikmdag.sys) I have been getting this when playing games on Facebook. I have completely removed all my video card drivers all the way to the point where Windows was saying "Basic Video Hardware" in device manager and then I reinstalled the latest Beta driver from AMD/ATI's website. However, the problem still persists.

Another thing I have noticed when going through the event logs trying to diagnose the first issue was that I am getting ALOT of another error. The error is Source:Kernel-EventTracing Event ID 2 Session "" failed to start with the following error: 0xC000000D

Hello,

Re-posted without the HJT report ... sorry I didn't realize we weren't supposed to include them in this forum.

I have some strange stuff going on and my attempts at researching them have not helped me to resolve it. Here are the symptoms.
I have XP home SP3 installed so I do not have access to XP pro tools if they are needed.

I have installed Comodo firewall and every time I open a new program, it asks for elevated debug privileges.

The following two events are in my event viewer every 15 minutes day and night.

Special privileges assigned to new logon:
User Name: NETWORK SERVICE
Domain: NT AUTHORITY
Logon ID: (0x0,0x3E4)
Privileges: SeAuditPrivilege
SeAssignPrimaryTokenPrivilege
SeDebugPrivilege
SeChangeNotifyPrivilege

Successful Logon:
User Name: NETWORK SERVICE
Domain: NT AUTHORITY
Logon ID: (0x0,0x3E4)
Logon Type: 5
Logon Process: Advapi
Authentication Package: Negotiate
Workstation Name:
Logon GUID: -

background activity happens when these happen (hourglass appears in the cursor)

I also seem to have a lot of stuff on my computer that would more properly be on a server even though I am a home user and connecting through a router (no network)

I have disabled every unneeded service that I could think of that could cause these and still no luck (using this site, black viper, and the elder geek).

I have run multiple virus scans and rootkit scans and checked every file mentioned in my research on virustotal without result. It appears I am clean (of co... Read more

Earlier this week I had scanned this computer, Dell 4600 dt, with Malwarebytes & Avira (free), found nothing.  To be honest after that I really can't remember what the computer was doing, but it wasn't acting normal.  Please forgive me, I am working on several faulty pc's at the moment.

After those two scans, a day/two later I scanned with other Malware Tools, TDSSKiller and Chameleon, and one of those found something and I immediately deleted it.  Whatever it was destablized the system enough that I ended up doing a system restore to the day before I ran those two, so I am back where I started.

I did the latest updates from MS and I wanted to check the drivers on this pc with a tool on the Dell website.  I have it downloaded/saved to dtop, but when I click to execute I get 'Cannot Start the App.  Contact the vendor'.

I went to Event Viewer, Application and there are several:

Hello!
Could you please help me find what's causing that Event ID 1014/134?
I've had this problem for a very long time and I tried everything I know...
In the event ID 1014 in Event viewer it says:
"Name resolution for the name <completely random URL here which I don't even know> timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded."
and in event ID 134 in Event viewer it says:
"NtpClient was unable to set a manual peer to use as a time source because of DNS resolution error on 'time.windows.com,0x9'. NtpClient will try again in 15 minutes and double the reattempt interval thereafter. The error was: No such host is known. (0x80072AF9)"
These two events occur every now and then and it disconnects me from the internet for a short time, usually very short, but it cuts data transfer and causes games and other internet based programs to stop functioning. Extremely frustrating...
Thank you!!

A:Event Viewer Errors, Connection Issues?

Regarding the event ID 1014, this can occur when IPv6 is enabled, but your ISP doesn't yet fully support IPv6. I see from the previous thread you have IPv6 enabled on your computer. Try disabling it: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/3336.event-id-1014-microsoft-windows-dns-client.aspx

The event ID 134 appears to be tied to your DNS issues. Basically, your system may be set to sychronize it time using the Network Time Protocol (NTP), but is can't resolve the name of the NTP server. These may resolve that issue:

Hi

Im having a serious issue with my Windows 7 64bit.
Immediately after Windows 7 startup, everything seem fine. I start up programs and everything works.

But a short while (~10 seconds) after startup, I cannot start any 32 bit software (Tried Google Chrome, Spotify, Steam, WinRar now. Nothing starts). The programs that I had started earlier works fine. Other software (Notepad & Internet explorer) seems to work fine. I guess these two programs are 64-bit.

If I close any of the software that I had started earlier then I cannot start them again.
I tried to right-click the programs .exe file but then the window crashes. I restart explorer.exe but then NOTHING works. I can't even open My Computer (Error message: "explorer.exe - The remote procedure call failed and did not execute").

Any help on how I can fix this?

My specs:
*Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5, Socket-AM3
*AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
*Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1333MHz 4GB CL9
*XFX Radeon HD 6970 2GB
*Intel X25-M SSD 80GB 2,5",
*WD Caviar? Black 750GB, 3,5", SATA

I have tried to format my C-drive and reinstalling Windows 7 64-bit several times. The issue keeps reappearing..

Would anyone have the time to look at the attached photo which shows a list of issues that are showing up in Event Viewer. What do they mean, how do I deal with them? Why are they happening?

I had a catastrophic failure a few weeks ago and had to do a complete re-install on Windows 8, upgraded to Windows 8.1. I am using an Asus desktop PC which is only 18 months old.

I have also been experiencing unexplained 'freezes' and over the last few days I have carried out the following to try and see if it would sort it out.

C Cleaner
Scanfix
Check Disc
Memory Scan
DISM

I left the PC running 24/7 from Friday lunchtime and it froze at 4.52 on Saturday morning. Today I have been able to use it without any trouble.

I am a sole-trader and need this PC for my business (no IT department to support me )

Any advice greatly welcomed.

Thanks for reading.

Hello,

I am having numerous issues with my HP desktop computer. Have been experiencing significant lag upon startup (up to 15 minutes), internet homepage continues to reset itself, event viewer diagnostic tool will not log events, etc. So far, I have done the following:

MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware scans in both normal startup and safe mode. Removed all threats (>900).
Ran CCleaner and removed all old cache items, etc.
Updated all device drivers through device manager. None showed any issues, and all reported to be working properly, but upon update, a few were not the current versions.
Ran MIcrosoft Update (11 updates)
Ran chkdsk - it reported a few errors that were corrected.
Ran memory check - no reported issues.
Ran disk defrag and disk cleanup
Removed numerous programs such as "shopathome" toolbar (and other similar add-ons); free versions of AVG Antivirus, Norton, Symantec; removed coupon clipper, etc.
Ran MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware again.
Something is still causing the computer to take extreme amounts of time to startup, and the event viewer diagnostic tool keeps resetting itself to be "off". If someone might be able to provide some help in determining why this may be happening - that would be great. Thanks!!

Hi, *trying* to fix my dad's laptop. He's been receiving BSODs the past couple of days, but I haven't been able to get the crash code, I'll try to add it later. I've attached the .zip with the crashlogs/system data.

Before the BSOD, he gets some errors in the event viewer, where:

The [EXAMPLE] service failed to start due to the following error:

He gets about 10 errors over about 10, maybe 15 minutes.
The BSODs started on the 11/08/16. No new hardware has been installed, nor software.

Hello,

I have several Win 7 machines that all have this same issue.

When you try to view the Event Log I get an error saying the service is not running.

The service is set to Automatic. When you try to start it you get the error below.

Windows could not start the Windows Event Log service on Local Computer.

Error 0x80007000e: Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.

I have tried everything I can to fix this and am now out of ideas. Not all Win 7 machines have this issue, but most in our network do.

Any thoughts.

A:Event Viewer will not start - Service not running - Not enough storage space

Hi,

According to the error message, there’s no enough storage on your drive.

How much feel space in your C drive? The default event log should be located in C:\Windows\System32\winevt\logs

Please replace these logs to other drive and restart the service to see if the same issue occurs.

Since the issue occur with many machines, the problem may related with the installation image. Did the image make by yourself? How did you deploy these Windows 7
PC? And did the issue appear in a new installed Windows 7 PC?

Furthermore, does your workaround is a domain? Please check if any GPOs were set to those PC.

Hope that helps.

The server that we are running on this computer is shutting down every morning and I have to shut it down and boot the tower back up. The paging one is for your CD-ROM. It can't be paged, anyway, and that error is found on a lot of machines.

Recently I looked in Event Viewer after startup and I see an error which is as follows:

Following system-start drivers failed to load
hptpro
IntelIde

Event ID: 7026
File Name: netevent.dll
File Ver: 5.1.2600.0
Source: Service Control Manager
Type: Error
Symbolic Name: EVENT_BOOT_SYSTEM_ DRIVERS_FAILED

Message: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load %1.

Can anyone point me in the direction of where to look in windows to correct this annoying problem computer specs listed in sig.

While waiting for a reply from someone, I found that by rolling back the driver for the IntelIde worked. Hptpro I found stands for High Point Filter Driver, since I don't use Raid or have a SCSI drive would it be fair to say that I can delete the hptpro driver from C:\Windows\system32\drivers folder? I'm still receiving the error for hptpro but not IntelIde. Thanks in advance for any help.

Make sure SCSI and Raid are not enabled in the BIOS.

Hi all, this is my 1st post at this site, hope some1 can help me

Anyway i have an error in event viewer that pops up everytime i have a freeze (sometimes a reboot is required)

Its the Kerberos athentication error, i know MS says ignore it, however whenever i have a freeze its the only error to pop up in event viewer.

Now i run Home Premium 64Bit and am not connected to a domain so i really dont need this security package trying to do its thing do i?

How can i stop it as i feel it may solve my freezing prob? i've heard you can through Gpedit.msc however home premium doesn't have this snap in. Is there some 3rd party tweaking tool that'll let me shut kerberos off to see what happens?

Thanks a lot for your time

Matt

A:Error in Event Viewer

Welcome to the forums!

First, maybe start off by giving a little more detail about what the error in your event viewer is. If you have to copy and paste it in there, go ahead. What are you normally doing when this freezes? What happens when it freezes? Auto reboot, or forcefully shut it down?

Post what you can so we can help.

Thanks
