I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I changed the location of the my documents folder to another drive but have lost the folder itself. In the location tab I put in the new drive letter and applied the changes expecting windows to move the "my documents" folder to the new drive. Instead of moving the folder it only moves the contents and considers the new drive as the "my documents" location. Since there is now no folder as such to right click on I cannot now access the location tab or any other of the "my documents" options. I only get the drive options.

Any ideas how to restore this so I have the orginal folder?

Cheers

A:Moved my documents and lost folder

My suggestion would be:

1. change the location of my documents back to the original
2. create a target folder on the destination drive
3. change the location of my documents to the newly created target folder

Dear Friends,

When I was moving some emails of sent item folder to a new created folder all my emails in my sent items disappeared.
I have outlook express 6 in windows XP.
I searched through your forums and find an instruction for this problem.

But in its instruction it says: "Locate the temporary location of the .dbx files on your Desktop, and then select the 2 files (Folders and Sent) that you want to import. (Hold down Left mouse button and drag over the 2 files to select both files). Outlook Express should begin to import the old mail and to create or to populate folders." but when I wanted to find the files from Desktop it only indicated Desktop and the folders and I couldn't locate the file and I couldn't finalized them matter.

I also tried another instruction in your forums : "Copy (do not move the file) and Paste the Restored Sent Items.dbx file into the Message Store, you should receive a prompt asking if you want to overwrite the file, select: Yes." but again when I did so didn't receive a prompt asking if I want to over write but instead making a copy of the file. Can you help me. I really need my emails of sent items. I should also say that I have the sent item folder in the message store with the volume of 2,097,099 KB.
Thank you for your kind help.

I was uninstalling windows live essential on my profile and added ms office outlook 2007 for email. For some reason, when changing users to my wife's profile, the desktop has to be prepared each time - as a temporary profile. The folder location has moved from Users/wife to Users/Users/wife and has a lock icon on it. I have tried moving the entire folder as administrator and received a not responding message.
Short of a restore in which I will lose data is there a way to 'import' her profile under a new user and then delete the corrupted profile?

A:LOST a USER profile (folder location has moved + lock icon)

Hello Redjack, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you like, you could try using the tutorial below to see if you may be able to fix her profile.http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/13...y-profile.html
If not, then you could create a new administrator account for her to use instead. Afterwards, log into the new account, copy anything (ex: shortcuts, files, etc...) she wants from the old account to the new account, and delete the old account.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

In outlook express, I have created a folder full of CV's from people I am looking to hire. Today I dragged this CV folder from outlook express on to my desktop. I returned to open it a few hours later and it will not open!!! The message I get is 'Windows failed to complete this process, operation failed' or words very close to this.

I am not sure what to do? I have tried moving the folder back to outlook express and opening it but this fails also.

Can anyone help me please? I really need these CV's!

On the Icon which was created, it shows the email folder with what looks like a clock face over it with a blue arrow.

In other words, you can't see all your personal folders or you can't see them correctly.

Go to Start-Find-files or folders and type in *.pst and look on your entire C: drive.

Then, in Outlook, hit File-Open, and make sure you've already got all these PSTs open.

I have lost all the contents of "My Documents".

1) In preparation for getting a new laptop, I "moved" the entire contents of "My Documents", including the directory, to a server directory.
2) Seeing the contents of "My Documents" on C: were still there, I looked at the server directory to verify that all files were at least copied.
3) I then deleted the "My Documents" directory on C:. Then I thought that was odd. I again looked at the server directory and to my horror all files that were "moved" had been deleted as well. No files are in the waste basket either!
4) A recover program has been run on my C: drive. The program can not find any files to restore from a "My Documents" directory.

Any hope?

A:"My Documents" folder moved and lost

That sould be recoverable to some extent if you have the right utilities.

This is a good thread as you should copy rather than move, verify after the transfer, then delete!

Moving and deleting over a server is different than on a laptop or workstation. There is no recycle bin in some cases.

It's probably my fault since most things are. Yesterday I had trouble sending email. I looked in the add-ins and saw the COM addin for Microsoft Hotmail connector. Well, I couldn't find where to delete it and so I went to c:\Progra~2\common~1\system\msmapi\msncon32.dll and deleted that. I did a bad thing, didn't I? This morning my Personal Folder in Outlook Contacts, is gone.

How can I get it back?

I did a system restore but the Personal Folder in Contacts Outlook 2007 is not there. The add-in is.

I'd try Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download - http://www.piriform.com/recuva .

I used it a day ago when I inadvertently hit the Delete button, rather than Rename on a file I wanted (I delete without using the Recycle Bin) and it worked perfectly, restored the file to original location.

A:Lost Delete Folder (dbx) in Outlook Express

If the delete folder was deleted don't worry about it, close out Outlook Express and restart it. It will recreate a new one.
EDIT

Just had another thought also. The properties on the file may have gotten changed to hidden in which case you will have to go into folder options and change it to show all files and then once it appears again right click on the file and change it on the file to archive instead of hidden.

how can i retrieve my lost mails in the outlook express?

A:mails lost in outlook express after changing the store folder

Hi

Outlook stores its folders as DBX files, the path to them is

C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxx\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook, where xxxxxx is the name of the account.

Look there and see what folders are listed and the size, blank folders are usually 1k or 2k, folders with stuff in will be bigger, it may be a good idea to search other users outlook settings in case something went screwy with XP, a quick cut and paste of the folders into the right directory shoud resolve the issue.

However if you cant find any DBX files of the right size then there is a good chance that the mails are gone.

Hello,

I have a puzzler for the Outlook wizards. I'm wondering if somebody can help me recover my colleague's lost folders and messages. The short version is that I changed the Root Folder Path setting in Outlook 2013 for his IMAP account, resulting in the loss of several nested folders and contained messages that were apparently not synced by IMAP. Reverting the setting did not recover the folders/messages!

------- Long version ------------

Please bear with me on the explanation and please please do provide any relevant input that might help with this issue.

My colleague is using Outlook 2013 and had 2 IMAP accounts configured: 1 Gmail account and 1 other account (let's call it "Work"). At first, his issue was that several of his "Work" account folders nested under the Inbox were not syncing to his iPhone email client. I attempted to help by configuring IMAP folders in both applications.

The provider of the Work email specifies that the path for IMAP folders should be configured as "INBOX." Therefore I set this path on his iPhone and changed the Root Folder Path in Outlook 2013 for the Work account to the same, "INBOX".

Upon the change in Outlook 2013, his nested folders immediately disappeared, including all of the contained messages. I reverted the setting back to the default (blank), which restored only 1 folder with a handful of messages, one that apparently had been configured as an IMAP folder, but the rest of the folders were ... A:Moved files to/from same folder in two explorer windows

it sounds like it didn't copy all the way over. Right click the file and see what size it is, if it is too small or 0 bytes then it didn't copy over, and it is still in the original location.

Hi Everyone,

Hopefully someone can help me. I want to move the OneDrive folder from the default C:\Users\UserName\OneDrive to D:\Users\UserName\OneDrive.

I go to properties, location & click on move & navigate to the new location. A few seconds later, it shows it copying files.

The problem is after I let it re-sync, check for changes, etc, the OneDrive folder in Explorer shows no files.

If I tell it to set it back to the default location (C drive), the files appears again.

Is there a fix to this?

I'm absolutely dumbstruck by what just happened. I was a little too quick with my clicking, and instead of opening the folder containing my pictures, I dragged it into another folder called "14941b93d3ad9f41aa7df524fe". 'filterpipelineprintproc.dll'
'msxpsdrv'
'msxpsinc.gpd'
'msxpsinc.ppd'
'mxdwdrv.dll'
'xpssvcs.dll')
I have previously done some googling on the folders and since they, apparently, weren't harmful, I decided not to do anything about them. After I put my picture-folder into the folder of doom I pressed ctrl+z and get the error message "Folder not available...No access"(screen shot). When I open the picture folder inside the folder of doom, I get the same error message. It also says that the folder contains 0 byte.

My question of course is if and how I can pull my pictures out of the abyss.

Hi. I have been having problems with my MS Outlook hanging up or failing to load. I did have a lot of folders and sub-folders and several accounts. So, I backed up all of the folders to an external drive and then deleted them from Outlook. However, I have been left with one old account (which is the default account) and my account which I use on a daily basis. When I select my in-use account, the option to make it default is greyed out. In the end, I decided to delete everything and start again. The problem is, when I go to add my email account and the auto checks begin, it hangs and asks me for my Outlook 365 password, which I don't have. If I log on through the web portal I can access my account so my email address and password are valid. I can see that there is a way to manually create the account but I don't know the server setting etc. Can anyone suggest a solutions please

My computer is running Windows XP Home Edition (SP3). The harddrive in question does not contain the OS.

Now my itunes seems to not be working properly. I have iphone 3gs and so when I synced it I don't see the music files under my device or my ringtones. It also said that they can't find my music when I tried to download them into my iphone and every time I put new music or new ringtones in my iphone, the ringtones/music that I have gets deleted. For example: I have 200 songs in my iphone but when I want to put just one song in it, The rest of the 200 songs gets deleted and now I only have that one song. And so now every time I add music to my iphone I would have to add the songs back into the iphone. I would also have to do it to ringtones too and I'd have to manually add them in because if I don't it would never be put into the iphone. So yeah, I'm not too good with itunes because it's too complicated and this is the first time I've ever had a iphone so I'm really confused how to use itunes. Oh and my library music files doesn't automatically update when I add new music so I would have to do the same as I did with my iphone. I'd have to delete, add the files again, sync and so on...

My itunes is up to date, my folders aren't hidden because my music folder and ringtone folder are under my library but not under my device.

I uninstalled itunes and reinstalled but its still the same.

I don't know what to do!! Help please??

Thanks

I wanted to copy the windows explorer folder from the Accessories to the Start Menu and it seems I cut it and its gone.

I am using Windows XP Home edition and I'm not yet ready to do a re-install for this issue.

Experts out there as I presume an easier solution.

Have you tried looking in the recyclebin?

If you have another windows explorer folder icon on the system you can drag and drop using the right mouse button to the Accessories then just left click copy to when done.

Also you can try a system restore to a date before you cut the Windows Explorer that may put it back.

I created a folder in Windows Mail 6 named "Save" and dragged several emails to it. The folder is now missing with it's contents and I can't find it using search, nor is it in my Deleted Items. Any ideas how to find and restore this folder? My Op sys is Vista x64. I appreciate any help I get.

A:Lost Windows Mail folder

Welcome
Do you see the panel on the left (windows mail), there are folders? Click on the arrows at the left of the names to expand the tree. Is the folder there?
No
Then save your important mail (you can easily export) From the file tab
Type the name in search Windows live mail
When it pops up, right click and then restore previous versions. The mail should be there.

I have an ACER laptop with a dual hardrive, so I decided I'd relocate my music folder so that it wouldn't clog up my main drive and allow me to store instead on the second. I accidentally did it to my Documents folder instead, and then after my Music folder. All is well but I now seem to have 2 Music folders to the D drive and no more Documents folder. Here is what I mean:

Any way to resotre?

A:Lost Windows Document Folder

Hello Richie, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You might see if doing OPTION THREE in the tutorial below for the Documents folder can restore it after a couple of restarts.

Personal User Folder - Restore Missing Folder

Hope this helps,
