WMP crashes every time while loading my library

Q: WMP crashes every time while loading my library

I don't use WMP, but decided to give it a try as part of a test about some audio cutout and freeze problems with foobar player being discussed in a General Support thread and elsewhere. After adding the ASIO plugin from SourcForge and adjusting settings, I removed the two default locations from the library and added my own music folder. WMP then started to load mine, but after three or four items, the program crashed. On every reopening, it starts to load more of mine, then crashes again within a few seconds. Any ideas what might be going on? Thanks,

Preferred Solution: WMP crashes every time while loading my library

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: WMP crashes every time while loading my library

ASIO plug in - was that ASIO4ALL? If it was, that can be iffy. for some it works OK, for others it can cause other problems and crashes or be flakey. There is a lot of discussion (mostly negative) about it on the recording forums I visit.

Hi guys, I need help, I am running windows 7 64, I think I got a virus, so in safe mode I have run avg, then super antispywar, then I ran sfc / scan now and it is telling me that it couldn't change some of the files, so I have looked at the report and it tells me the following, imjpuexc.exe, imjputyc.dll, micross.ttf, times.ttf, timesbi.ttf, sylvan.ttf, amd64\if1371e3.ppd, aren't able to be repaired.
I haven't got the original win7 disk because it was factory installed. What is interesting, is that it crashes in safe mode with networking as well. Have tried to use the restore point nil luck,

I can get into the homepage and it seems one minute later it freezes and I need to do a hard reboot every time.
Not sure what to do?....

The computer in question crashes every time a game (WoW, UT2004, Black and White 1&2 all tested) is loaded, after about 2-4 minutes. Usually works fine on other programs. Crashed once on load of a youtube page.

The crash goes like this: freezes, sound starts looping, screen goes black, then monitor shows it is receiving no signal. The sound looping does not occur in WoW.

Up to date drivers for both video and sound, ram passes memtest, PSU rated for 850 watts (way more than this needs).

Tried unplugging the sound card to see if it was the problem, and now it won't boot except in safe mode...

any suggestions?

A:Computer always crashes a few minutes after loading any game, and one other time.

Ok, plugged sound back in, now it boots.

Still won't play games though. Going to try uninstalling the card again.

My printer has been connected for years and all of a sudden I recd this message yesterday and I cant seem to fix it.

Im running my PC on Windows XP.

The work around says:

This behavior may occur if a third-party version of the Wsnmp32.dll, Ntprint.dll, Tcpmib.dll, Mgmtapi.dll, or Snmpapi.dll file has been copied to the %SystemRoot% folder.

My issue is I cant find any of these files in my systemroot folder. These files are in the system32 folder and in the c:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 and also c:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache.

I tried renaming one of these files in the service pake and dllcache and then tried to print and still came up with the same error.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you.

That's the error message I'm getting upon startup. The Blue title bar indicates the program in question is BrccMCtl - which has something to do with my Brother A-I-O's Control Center, but it works fine.

This problem surfaced about 3 weeks ago or so. Attempts to research it online are few and far between. One of the few things I did find was a reference to the three "stdole___.tlb" files not being in the "root" Windows/system directory. They are! (just to make sure I deleted them and re-extracted them to insure they weren't corrupt or anything - also put them into the system32 folder too just for good measure).

I've also noticed that about this same time FLASH animations no longer work.

Tried deleting/reinstalling my Brother printer drivers - still get the same error message

Tried reinstalling FLASH but it still doesn't work.

Even tried to use system restore to the latest configuration I have available - still get the message

This is my last stop for help before referring it to "the shop" for a paid repair. Any help you can give would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. (Oh and BTW, I don't consider reinstaling Windows to be a viable option - I have too many other goodies on this system I don't want to have to reinstall as well)

A:Error Loading Type Library/Dll

I had a similar error message at every computer startup after I uninstalled Adobe Flash Player for Internet Explorer.

A complete uninstall / install of the Brother software didn't fix the problem. What did fix the problem was to install the Adobe Flash Player ActiveX component again.

To check if you have the Flash ActiveX component installed use Internet Explorer and go to http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_15507
Note that it's important to use Internet Explorer to do this test as Firefox is using another type of Flash plugin that won't fix the error.

iTunes has been working fine on my widows eight OS. Till I added videos to my library, initially it worked fine. I then attempted to add additional videos from different folder. iTunes crashed and is crashing every time I attempt it. I checked and changed all user account and rights to the second folder, I changed all settings including ownership to the second folder to make it identical to the first. Still crashes. I moved second folder and made it a sub folder to the first and still crashes. I have chosen to completely delete all traces of iTunes and apple folders from my pc.
I will reinstall iTunes and see if it works. Will advise. But I really have no high expectations that it will solve my issue. HELP????

Hi all,

Winamp's being... temperamental, to say the least.
I have a music library of ~2000 songs which I want to get it to sync to my MP3 player. It recognizes that my player is connected to my PC just fine, but when I tell it to sync all 2000 songs in one shot the program freezes and crashes.
I really do NOT want to have to sit at my PC for hours and sync my music library 50 songs at a time. Is there a workaround for this problem or am I just going to have to bite the bullet?

EDIT: Mods, please delete this thread, I reposted it in "Misc. Software". Thanks.

I have a HP Pavillion dv6700 and usually it does not get past the BIOS to load Windows, normally the lights come on but the screen stays black. Out of hundreds of attempts the BIOS loaded around 5-10 times, and made it to Windows only once.

Ok this is how it went down.

1. I had a boot.ini issue that I tried to fix and ended up causing bigger problem.

2. Wanted to reinstall Windows xp sp2 onto my system (all important files are on another drive)

3. when loading windows setup the 'keyboard layout library kbdus.dll' the computer restarted, and continues to do so.

On some reading up it seems that the keyboard layout library may not load because there is an older one lingering on the hard drive (this hard drive is ancient and has had various windows loaded onto it)

So I figure the best way to deal with the issue (how to install windows again) is to format the Hard drive in Dos.
However I do not have a floppy drive and wouldn't know where to buy a floppy disk anyways, lol.

I came across a utility that did this but when I got to format the drive it said that the format could not occur because the hard drive was not the same manufacturer as the software.

So in a nut shell what do I want?
I want a utility that will either format my hard drive without loading windows (i.e a boot cd) or just simply load up DOS so that I can
c: format
And it has to be something I can put on CD (not dvd), so a utility which comes as an .iso that I can burn....I also don't want to install a programme onto someones windows that is capable of making boot disks, I just want the disk now

Please help, they are all boots for floppy!

I am running WinXp Pro with Firefox 37, it has ran fine without problems really until now. Started Firefox and before it even opened I get a crash report that gives me the option to restart it or quit. No matter how many times I try to restart, even in safe mode it does the same thing, crashes before opening. So, I uninstalled it and removed all traces of it in my Reg and did a search for any remaining bits and deleted them. Even download Revo and it shows no signs of Firefox/Mozilla anywhere. Still had the origal install file so I reinstalled, did the same thing. Download a new version, did the same thing. So then I downloaded Opera and I'm using Internet Exploder 8 all this time which won't connect to certain sites I reckon because it's no longer supported. But, anyway I download Opera for win xp several times with the same result, it wouldn't load/install. And yes I turned off my Norton antivirus to install. So All I have is IE 8 and it's as worthless as you know what. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi there,

It could be that Windows XP is no longer supported but try this, download/install "Google Chrome" and see if the same issue happens.

By any chance, do you have another computer at your place running Windows XP? If so, install Mozilla Firefox on that computer and if assuming everything works fine on that computer, then the issue relies on that specific computer you're using.

I have a Gateway laptop running Windows XP Home Edition (SP2). During the XP loading screen (the black screen with XP logo and green status bar) I would get a blue screen of death. The error message of this BSOD was:

STOP: c0000135 {Unable To Locate Component}
This application has failed to start because basekgjl32 was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

I was able to boot into safe mode and run a scan using AVG 7.5. I do not know what version of virus definitions I had.

AVG found a file named "basekgjl32.dll" in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 directory. AVG classified it as a trojan horse named BackDoor.Generic9.AJUI. AVG successfully healed it. I tried rebooting to see if that fixed the problem, but it did not. I still receive the same BSOD. To make matters worse, now I cannot boot into safe mode. I now receive the same BSOD when I try.

I have researched this BackDoor trojan and similar ones like it, but I have yet to find any methods of successfully removing it or dealing with this type of scenario.

Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hello TSG! It's been a long time since I found another problem which I can not fix by me self. But now, I have found one that is driving me mad! So I bought the game PURE from gamestop, and installed it on my windows 7 machine. My computer passes beyond the Recommended requirements, so there shouldn't be any problem with that. Anyway, it first took quite a while to install, I'd say about 5-7 minutes installing, and once it was done, I couldn't wait to play because I LOVED the demo. So I boot the game up and it takes like 20-30 secs to load the first loading, and then I get the intro video of the game, then another loading screen with the title, "PURE", written on it. This one takes something about less than 1 minute to load and then it asks me for creating a new sav and all, and once I'm done with that, the game stands on black screen for 1-2 secs then I get the program not responding error. I have downloaded the latest drivers for my graphic card, and have tried the compatibility settings, but none of these seem to work. I also installed the game on my Windows XP partition, but I got the same error. Then after all that, I took the game back to Gamestop and exchanged it for another copy because I thought it was the CD's fault. But no, even after installing it with the new copy, my game keeps crashing after it passes the save screen. I have no idea what could be causing this problem, as my computer is really fast and al my drivers are u... Read more

Repair Installation:

This needs to be addressed
Since IE7 is now and has been out, we need this information posted when we suggest a Repair Install. You can use either one:

You cannot perform a repair installation of Windows XP if Internet Explorer 7 is installed. If you do, Internet Explorer will not work because the repair installation does not restore the earlier version files in the %ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer folder resulting in an incompatibility with the Internet Explorer 6 files that the repair placed in the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder.
To uninstall Internet Explorer 7:
1. Start / Run / appwiz.cpl / OK.
2. Select Internet Explorer 7 and press Remove. If you can't find Internet Explorer 7:
A. Install the Recovery Console.
B. Restart you computer and start the Recovery Console.
C. Type CD ie7\spuninst and press Enter.
D. Type batch spuninst.txt and press Enter.

Before you perform a repair installation of Windows XP, you must uninstall Internet Explorer 7. If you do not uninstall Internet Explorer 7 in this situation, Internet Explorer will no longer work after the repair installation is completed. Specifically, the repair installation does not restore earlier versions of the files in the Program File... Read more

Exactly what it says above.

I use a program to support a Flash chat client, and this program forces links to open in IE. This presents a problem when I accidentally click a .png link, as IE7 opens, quickly flashes the Quicktime logo (which it uses to load .png, apparently), freezes, and Windows Explorer stops wroking right until I kill IE in the task manager. To clarify "stops working right," whenever I click any other window in the task bar, it just flashes instead of changing to that window.

Firefox is my normal browser, but as I said above, this program forces links to open in IE. I tested this by navigating to a .png image in IE independent of the chat client, and I get the same problem, so it isn't caused by the client.

I'm running an HP Pavilion m9040n media PC. Vista Home Premium SP1, 32-bit. 3GB DDR2 RAM. Upgraded with a GeForce 8800GT graphics card.

I know IE doesn't support .png as much as Firefox does, but other people who use the same client and click the same links don't have crashing problems, so...

Hi. first time here =x

anyway let me get to the point. I just bought a copy of FF8 from my nearest retail bookstore and it installed pretty smoothly (less than 1minute, give or take). However when i try to run the program all i could see was a black screen and nothing else. After that when i pressed ctrl + alt + delete and pressed on task manager, the FF8 program had the status of 'Not Responding'.

I also tried to changed to compatibility mode to WinXP,Windows 2000 and Windows 98/Me but it also results in the same problem -- black screens.

Also when i changed compatibility mode to Windows Me/98 i recieve this error :
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click OK to terminate the problem."
This error is not seen when i change mode to 2000 and XP(SP2).

is there anyway to run the game without installing any new 'old' graphic cards?

Click on Start . . Run . . type msconfig . . go to the startup tab and look at what all is running at startup . . you can usually safely uncheck everything but your antivirus and firewall ( if third party ) . . see if that improves start up time. If something does now work after that you can go back and enable one at a time to see which is the offender.

When you restart, you will see a message that warns you have fiddled with system configuration . . check the "don't bother me boy" box and it will go away.

I have been having problems with my family computer where Windows gets to the laoding screen and crashes, which it does in a loop and then occasioanlly turns on. I had this problem a while back but a change of hard drive and a clean install of Windows 7 (it was previously XP) seemed to of cured it. But last night the problem returned, there was a BSOD out of no where and then it returned into its looping process.

I switched out the current hard drive, RAM and CPU with my other gaming computer and it also caused that to crash. So I first took out the hard drive and it still crashed but swithing the RAM again seemed to of cured the problem. However, when I put different RAM in the computer with the initial problems it still came up with the same problem.

Windows Xp crashs during windows loading screen and reboots. Displays a blue screen with no errors on it only the stop information, 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xBA52F380, 0xBA52f07c,0x8AD5980F). This blue screen stays up for less than a second, needed to video record it to get the numbers. Windows doesn't load in normal mode, or any of the safe modes. I have tried chkdsk /r and /p. Bootcfg /scan fails, and /rebuild also fails. I have also cleared Cmos on my motherboard, which didn't work either. I also tested the ram, tried booting with 1 of 3 sticks in 3 times rotating the sticks, I wouldn't think all 3 would fail at the same time. The HD does show serial numbers tho and appears to be working. This all started when i was running a virus scanner, it crashed, and the problems started. Any help is appreciated, I have yet to try fixmbr, and a repair install. The fixmbr says it could cause a problem with the HD, that is the reason I haven't tried it yet. Any suggestions or help is appreciated. Thanks

I had recently done some modification to my wife's computer and now it will no longer load up. It goes through the hardware screen for the motherboard, begins to show the Windows 7 icon, but suddenly stops and restarts itself as the icon begins to come together.

Today, I swapped out her motherboard, processor, and graphics card with new ones. All of the cables are hooked up correctly, but I'm unsure what the problem could be. Below are the parts I have put in it now:
Sapphire Radeon R7 250 (graphics card)
ASUS M5A78-M LX Plus (motherboard)
AMD FX 6-Core 3.5 GHZ 14.0 MB (processor)
If there's more that's needed to be posted, I will look it up, but that's what was put into it today.

Hi everyone,

Outlook Express V.6 SP1 keeps on crashing all the time while loading with the following message:

Unhandled exception in msimn.exe (directdb.dll)

I reinstalled Internet Explorer to no avail.

I reinstalled Outlook Express to no avail.

I reinstalled Windows XP to no avail.

I tried to rebuild the registry for Outlook Express to no avail
(i.e. "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg)

I tried Microsoft's file checker to no avail
(i.e. >sfc /scannow)

What do I do next? Buy a new PC perhaps?

I think the registry is corrupted but is there a way to bypass the registry checking?

My battery is full and the lights are on. I can turn it on and I can hear it loading up, but after about 30 seconds to one minute nothing. No lights and the computer just shuts off. I have a Toshibaa Satellite, I am not computer savy but would like some insight or something to go on.

A:after 30 seconds of loading laptop crashes.

If it is still under warranty, you can call them and they won't charge you.

Otherwise, my first suspect would be your hard drive. Try booting it up with any Windows installation disc, or your recovery disc. If it boots properly from the cd, you can see whether or not your hard drive is corrupted, or dead.

Message back with what you find, and we'll go from there.

So my Hard Drive crashed today, and I thought of using the HDD from my laptop which I hardly ever use. When I connected it, my computer started up as normal, but once the loading screen appears it shuts down and restarts.

I have run the Repair tool several times, but it doesn't fix my problem.. Any ideas why Windows refuses to start? Is it a hardware problem? I believe, last time I checked it worked fine in my laptop.

The HDD that I'm using from my laptop is a WD Scorpio Blue WD3200BE

Any input is appreciated!

Hello, I've gone through a bit of the internet trying to find help with a problem I've been having with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2. Currently on Onderon (first planet I went to after Telos), my game keeps crashing on loading screens between docks and the market square, and the market square and the cantina (early parts of Onderon). I've updated my drivers to current, and tried (though failed, for some reason) to update the game, too. When it crashes, the KOTOR style mouse turns to the regular white windows mouse, freezing the loading screen right near the end of the loading bar, and coming up with the message that the program has to be closed.

I found a similar problem someone on these forums had (http://forums.techguy.org/games/933566-kotor-2-crashes.html), this was the only instance I could find of an issue similar to mine?

As for specifications, I use the Mss32.dll fix for Win 7, running the game in Win XP SP 2 Compatibility mode. My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT for Windows 7 32 Bit, 4 GB memory, a dual core processor @ 1.87 GHz on a Dell Inspiron the precise name of which I don't directly know. I'd really appreciate any help as I've only been playing the game for about 4 days and since I'm really enjoying it, I'd hate to have to give it up.

Right. So heres the thing. Recently i've upgraded the specs of my computer, including Processor, Graphics Card and RAM. As far as I can tell these are all working correctly. The problem i'm facing as current is the incredibly slow loading speed. It passes the "Dectecting IDE drives" screen quickly, but on the next screen it holds, for atleast an hour. On this screen it pretty much says:

Diskette Drive A:1.44M, 3'5"
Pri. Master Disk: LBA.ATA 100 82GB
Pri. Slave Disk: CDROM,ATA 33

And a load of other information like that, along with PCI Devices Listing...

It holds on this screen for a very very long time. I've tried changing some of the Bios but with absolutely no change or effect. On the next screen when it does actualy move, it's the Windows 2000 loading screen(With the row of bars showing how much it's loaded), it holds here again for a long time, again atleast an hour. I'm not sure exactly how long as I went to sleep out of bordom of waiting for it. Has anyone got any suggestions or any idea at all whats the matter with this. The RAM,Graphics card, Processor and Motherboard were all bought brand new and suggested by the store owner that I went to, he said that everything will all be compatable with each other componant. So if anyone has any idea's what could be the problem i'd be very greatful, as i'm not quite prepared to spend 30 for someone to just look at my computer to tell me whats wrong.

A:30sec + loading time

1. opencl.dll is known to be reported by SFC /Scannow if at least one particular build of Nvidia graphics driver is installed. So not an issue. Good news.

Hi guys,

About two weeks ago, my IE decided to slow down. When I double click the IE icon, the window won't open right away. Everything else will function properly, but I have to wait 10-30 seconds for it to open. Once this happens, my homepage loads really quickly (ie, everything is there, I do not see all the graphics slowly popping up one by one). Now, sometimes when I go to a new page, it works perfectly fine; but other times IE seems to lock-up for this 10 - 30 second time period before it loads the next page.

Like I said, this only started about 2 weeks ago. Before that, I never encountered this problem. What could be the cause of this? Is it the internet connection? Is it Wondows (XP)? Any ideas?

A:slow IE loading time.

First please get Spybot S&D to clear out most of the spyware.

Short tutorial and download link here:

Fix everything SpybotSD labels in red.

Then after reboot:
Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.
