I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi!I got a battery problem: my Lenovo G51-35 is plugged in, but it doesnt charge my battery and the battery goes down everyday by 1%. Now its 5%!What I gotta do?

A:Lenovo G51-35 plugged in, doesn´t charge and battery % decreases

Hi Kevinottokoit,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The hardware manual provides the steps for check operational charging that you can perform her in page 21-22.

Taking note of the same battery indicator (I am expecting that is is blinking amber for less 20% charge), keep the computer powered off and connect the ac charger for 2-3 hours without turning it on. We are expecting the battery indicator to go from amber to white to know if the battery does charge.

Other wise you may want to check a known good battery to test the machine or use the same battery on another compatible model to verify if the battery really needs to be replaced.

I hope this helps answer your query.
Update us how things go.

Regards

I have read quite a few threads regarding Lenovo laptops requiring the battery to be disconnect to get the unit to turn on once it goes to sleep or is manually shut off.  I started having this issue on my 3 year old t450s about 3 months ago.  I disconnected the internal battery so that starting it up only involves removing the external battery. Is there a solution to this issue?  Of course I'd like to resolve it on this laptop but I'm even more concerned about purchasing an new t model laptop.  Love the laptop but am frustrated by this issue. Mark

Hi!

I have lenovo ideapad g585gc 59-356202 e1-1200, dvdrw, 4gb, 500gb, radeon hd 7310m, 15.6" led, ....
Almost 2 years old.
Yesterday it didn't want to turn on, and then I took out the battery and try without it and then turned on and everything is ok.

So,
1. with battery (with or without ac power) won't turn on
2. without battery (of course, with ac power) turn on

The problem is evidently in the battery. I want to buy a new one, but how can I be sure that the battery is really dead?

A:Lenovo won't turn on with battery, without battery turn on!

There are no good practical ways the average owner can test the battery. You have to go on the evidence.

Hello,

For some context about myself, I will say that I?m new when it comes to PC knowledge. Posting on forums is also a new thing for me. But anyway, for about a month now, my PC won?t turn on when I press the power button. The lights aren?t on and the fans aren?t spinning. Then, after a while, when I come back from work, I see that my PC is on. Fans spinning and everything. I can then do my work and play games normally. I live alone, so no one is turning it on while I?m away. I should say that my PC doesn?t turn off suddenly when I?m using it. Everything goes smoothly until I decide to shut down for the night and then try to turn it back on in the morning. At which point, the cycle begins again.

My laptop is not charging when it is turned on. I use Ubuntu 17.10 and Windows 10. Battery only charges when laptop is turned off. Also when I try to turn on my laptop without battery, it turns on for 1-2 seconds and suddenly sutts off, (and it does not boot). Changed power jack but same thing. Also tried another AC adapter. Even computer master cannot find a problem.I guess the problem is with motherboard, but cannot find which part is not working. Who had such problem and how have you solved it?

Hello Everyone,
Ive had a Toshiba Satellite L300D since March this year. The battery is not charging since yesterday, I never had any problems so far. Suddenly it got stuck in 31% and I decided to discharge it fully to let the laptop switch itself off and then fully charge it again but it didnt work. Ive been trying to charge it since yesterday afternoon but nothing happens. When I plug the AC with the battery in, the light on the computer is on and orange (charging) and it remains orange, and the computer says its charging on the task bar battery icon. Now it is in 0% and not charging at all.
Does anyone know what the problem might be? Can it be something I did wrong?
Thanks a lot in advance!

A:My Satellite L300D battery doesn´t charge

Laptop batteries are consumables. This means that they do go bad, some faster than others. Since they are rather expensive, take it to a repair shop (or Best Buy) and make sure it is the battery and not a motherboard problem

My issue started when all of a sudden some of the keys on the keypboard randomly stopped working. I thought maybe I just need a new keyboard but two days later my Yoga900 wouldn?t turn on at all. When plugged into the charger it shows a white light on the power button as well as on the round charging indicator, but refuses to turn on.  I read on a few posts in the Lenovo community that this was a common problem and if you pressed the button long enough (60 seconds) it would finally turn on after a orange light appreared. Yes, this worked for me too but then ... if I chance the angle of the laptop even slightly, or tap it or even move it by a tiny bit it all of a sudden shut a down and then I need to redo the entire procedure! The keyboard btw is also not fully functional so only some keys work... I am so so fed up of this problem... please someone help me ??

Hello, As the Title suggests, I am not able to turn on my Lenovo Yoga 2 13.When I try to turn on the Laptop, the White Light on the power button comes up for 6 Seconds and then goes off. Keyboard lights do not turn on, & the same effect with pressing the Novo recovery key.The battery does charge (The lights change according to the charge levels.) Things that I have tried so far: 1) Remove the power cable and press the power button for 30 Seconds, 60 Seconds, & 90 Seconds. No Effect. 2) Open up the backside, remove the battery cable (and battery), remove the power cable, and power discharge by pressing the power button. Turn on the laptop using just the Power cable. No Effect. 3) Remove the heatsink, clean it and then reapply the Thermal paste. No Effect. 4) Remove the hard disk and then try turning on. No Effect.  Despite trying all these steps, the effect is still the same. I honestly do not ahve any idea what to do now. Can anyone suggest something?  Any help would be appreciated!Thank You!

Hello Lenovo Community!I own an Ideappad Z400 Touch and I had issues with trying to charge it. Obviously I turned to the forums here and I found a possible solution here. When I tried to perform a battery firmware update, it went smoothly and then suddenly turned off and had a fast flashing orange light. Obviously I knew my battery and/or charger let me down in the middle of the process. I'm kind of scared because I don't know what to do nor have the money to afford a new laptop. What most likely happened to the battery is that it got "electronically disconnected" and technically only relies on the AC adapter which now I have found out is pretty screwed up and stops charging once Windows actually boots up. Is there any way to fix this? Please help! Thank you and have a wonderful evening!

I accidentally closed my T450S without turning it off last night and went to sleep. Today it won't turn on. When I plug in the charger the power button blinks 3 times. I have work vital to my job and my studies that I must retrieve soon. The laptop is 9 months old, but the warranty is invalid because I live overseas and I can't ship it to the US for repairs. I have files I need Monday morning or I will fail my courses, which means I also lose my job. I have some of it backed up, but the finished product was a file too large for my google drive and I just bought a new external hard drive to back up this korning. I have tried:1. Booting without the battery2. The emergency reset button3. Removing the internal and external batteries and booting4. Draining the battery by holding the power button then booting with no battery5. Hitting the power button 10 times then holding for a minute then booting6. Removing the RAM, draining the power, replacing the ram, then booting with no battery7. Unplugging and replugging the connector between the charger and the motherboard8. Putting the whole thing back together and letting it sit on the charger for an hour in the hope that all this stuff did something and now it just needs to charge. Everything I tried left me with the same result. 3 blinks of the power button when plugged in, and no other response to anything else. Is there any way of repairing this giant waste of money sitting on my desk? Please help!

Hi, I like that my T450s has 2 batteries. But the thing that bothers me is that the removable battery is drained first entirely prior to using the built-in battery. I've noticed that this increases the "cycle count" of the removable battery as essentially the battery has been completely used. In other laptops this is not a problem as they come with 1 battery and the cells are depleted uniformly.  This has only become a concern for me when I want to use the laptop for long hours without a charger. This would increase the cycle count of the removable battery if done on a daily basis. By doing so will I be ruining the battery life ?  Pls let me know, thanks.

A:T450s - How many cycles can the removable battery ...

Not sure, but I guess this is a bit by design, True the external is wearing more by having more cycles, but this also means that the internal one has a increased live time. The external one will be the first to wear, but is also the more easy one to replace .I already have 2 externals with my laptop. But I get your point and I'm curious about it too. Depleting a battery fully will wear a Li-ion more then not fully depleting it (if my study's where right that is). So it might be true that the less wear on the internal battery does not compare equally to the extra wear caused to the external battery. On the other hand, the extra wear might not be that great to worry about. And this dubble battery design does give us the awesome feature to hot-swap external battery's (which I use quite more that I thought I would).

Hi all, My 2-year old Lenovo T450s is experiencing charging problems. If I plug in the battery charger, it starts charging for a second, it then stops, then the cycle starts again. Needless to say that none of the batteries (neither the built-in nor the external) charge properly. I tried to: (1) buy a new battery charger, (2) unplug the external battery leaving the internal plugged in, (3) unplug the built-in (internal) battery leaving the external plugged in. None of these solutions worked. I then unplugged both batteries and plugged the battery charger, and the laptop works. What do you think? Is it a hardware problem (perhaps related to the motherboard - I can't think of anything else)? Is it a software problem? Thank you in advance for your time! Best, Paolo

I cannot be sure without seeing it, but I would guess motherboard charging circuitry.  I am assuming it will not charge while turned off.

Hello,

I got a T450s, brand new and everytime I am not plugged in (it's a laptop after all) the computer litteraly slows down to a point where it is unusable, a simple key (space, a letter, a number) will usually take 3-5 second and sometimes up to 20 seconds to register, no software is usable, CAD, video playback and authoring, completely useless when on battery. The thing is this is a laptop, I WILL use it on battery. That is despite me choosing high performance in the Lenovo power manager.

Anyway I can fix this?

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

I'm dual booting Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04 on my T450s. About a year ago, when I first replaced the removable battery with a new extended 6-cell external battery, I was getting 12-14 hours of battery life off a single charge. Now I'm getting about 5-6 hours on both OSs. I checked the battery health on LInux via: $ upower -i /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT1and got the info that the external battery had only lost a few percent of its original capacity (can't give exact figures cos writing this from Windows). My general use cases are running firefox, mail clients (geary/postbox), translation/word processing software (memoy ms word, libreoffice). Main CPU usage usually seems to be Windows background processes. What can I do to resolve this? Recalibrate the batteries (although I'm struggling to find tools to do that on the t450s)? Reinstall Windows and Ubuntu?

A:Battery life on T450s with 6-cell reduced by 50% in a year

I'm not sure how helpful this is but... it's all I've got...if you boot to Windows 10 and run the Vantage tool you can do a draw-down test. This wil reset the battery gauge, and having done that it testyou can then compare the present "Full Charge" capacity vs. the design capacity.

I have no external devices (hard drive, printer, mouse, USB...) connected. I some times get the message "Battery 2 Not installed Message in a white pop up window. I have tried the following but the problem still persist1) Fresh Installed Windows 10.0.17134 Build 171342) Updated to the latest Bios Firmware3) Updated Lenovo Energy Management software but got a message saying Windows has the latest Drivers (However Battery Driver says Microsoft 2006)4) Updated Battery Firmware but got a message saying nothing to update5) Installed Lenovo Vintage Software & Reseted the battery but got an Error. Could it be a Windows Update problem since I am hearing Device (USB) connect/disconnect sound & the battery issue happen approximately the same time?Any suggestions? Buying a new battery would be my last option

After a long journey, both batteries in my T450s were flat, and this morning when I plugged in and booted up I got the message that "The battery installed is not supported by this system and will not charge".  True to its word, one of the batteries does not seem to be charging.  These are the original batteries which came with the laptop when bought new from Lenovo.  They have performed well since I received it, no problems to date, and no obvious reduction in performance.  How can I get the battery charging again? Thanks for your help.

Hello guys. My ThinkPad 450S was all working fine until I switched it off last night before going to sleep. On wake-up I tried to switch it on and find it not responding. I tried to plug the power adapter only to find it not responding too (normally on plugging the power adapter, the red light on lid's ThinkPad flashes and the green light on the power buttom also flashes). This morning they were all dormant when I plug in the power adapter. Before I switched it off, the batteries were full (100%) as it has two batteries internal and external one. I didn't try to open it or do anything about it, may be this evening. What might be the problem and possible solution to it? Please help me out.  Regards, Cathbert.

Hi,

I have a problem with a brand new Lenovo T450s. Since two weeks it randomly shuts down.
And then we saw a bluescreen before it shutdown unexpected.

I have attached the dmp and xml file.
My guess is that is somehow related to the network drivers.
What i did already:
- reinstalled drivers for ethernet and wireless nic
- check if windows is up to date
- did a checkdisk

Can someone help?

Thanks
Sanjeev
