I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Cpu running at half speed help please

Sounds like the BIOS is set up incorrectly.

Whaen you 1st boot up, hit Del a few times and you'll enter the BIOS.

Hopefully, on the far right tab, there will be an option to "Load Optimised Defaults". Do that, reboot and see what it's reported as now.

CPUz will tell you what it is actually running at: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

Hello Everyone! So after reading dozens of threads about the problem im having.. i have to call uncle and ask for help. I installed a new ssd into my pci-e slot of my Dell precision t7400. I found it to be the cheapest way to get the fast speeds i was hoping for. I have a SanDisk SDSSDA240G installed into a PCI-E SATA 3 adapter(Images: pci-express_01 / ssd)info). Im running windows 7. I have made sure i am in AHCI and that i am running the correct Bios. The Card is in the First PCIE (Slot1) and my graphics card is in the other PCIE (Slot4). It is plugged into the only SATA port that was available (Image: MotherBoardSetup). Ive run the benchmark app and it seems like its only running 3G instead of the 6 that i was hoping for.
I have Dual quad cores Intel Xeon e5450. EVGA GeForce GTX 560 2GB Graphics Card. 32G of DDR2.
Windows 7.
Im a 3D artist and use multiple 3d programs. I know its running fast now, but any extra would be helpful. Can anyone please take a look at these pics and help me out?
Thanks -DT

I have an AMD Sempron 2300 which normally runs at 1.8 Ghz. Now, it says it is running at 950 Mhz, and i dont know why. i tried restoring my BIOS to fail-safe defaults, and i changed the CMOS battery, but it didn't work. I really need help on this, so any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

A:AMD processor running at half speed. why?

Try opening up some program like Internet Explorer or something that will stress your CPU. See whether the speed goes back to normal.

Some processors automatically throttle back when idling to reduce power consumption. When you stress them by opening a program or doing something like that, their speed goes back to normal. See if that works.

What socket is your CPU?

I had to replace the hard drive in my Pavilion when the original failed. I reinstalled the original software from the Recovery CD set I purchased from HP. The system now identifies my processor as an Athlon running at 750 MHz instead of the original Athlon 1.3 GHz. This 750 MHz figure is the same in the BIOS setup screen and in Windows XP My Computer Properties screen. I have not changed any components other than the hard drive, and the processor is the original Athlon 1.3 GHz. What would account for the decrease in speed and what can I do about it?

Windows XP Home Edition

A:AMD CPU running at about half original speed

Go to www.lavalys.com and get the free Everest Home Edition. Run that, it will tell you all about your PC and its components.
You may need to do a reset to basic values or optimised values of your BIOS.
Check the mobo-manual for multiplier settings in the BIOS.

I'm trying to run Half Life on my PC, and I've never had issues with it before on my desktop that had a Nvidia 6600gt, but on my laptop, I am running an Intel GM965, and it seems like OpenGL just won't work. Stick with what you have now if its a 3.6Ghz processor. But are you sure its socket 478 and not 775?

If the 3.2Ghz EE is very, very cheap or free then it would give you slightly better performance but not worth the retail price of the EE.

I bought a computer on eBay with 1 Gig of ram and an Intel Pentium D 805 2.66Ghz processor. It had an AsRock board and when I first attempted to use it which was about 6 weeks after I bout it, it seemed to overheat because it would just shut down and stop on me. At that point I decided to upgrade the board to an Intel D945PVS, once the new board arrived I was excited but cautious, I made sure to use an anti static wristband and I installed the Board/RAM/CPU/heat sink & fan/ e-GeForce 6200 Video card and the hard drives. But almost as soon as I plugged it in I heard a siren sound coming from the board and then the computer shut off. I have attempted a few times to restart it but it continues to follow the same pattern of sounding a siren and shutting down.

Iím not sure what to do at this point, Iíve contacted Intel customer support through their website but that was no help. I know that the Desktop Boards product guide state that the Siren sound is for CPU Overheat (on reboot) but I donít know what I can do to correct the issue. I have purchased some new thermal CPU Heat Sink compound and thoroughly cleaned the old compound away and the fan is properly positioned and operating as it appears it should.

I did notice some slight discoloration on the CPU over some of the pins (sort of like a slight darkening). Can anyone share their ideas regarding what could be the reason for this?

I have a computer purchased back in '98 running a Pentium II 300 mghrtz chip. I recently purchased a Pentium II 450 and installed it, however the computer still is only running at 300. I know that jumpers and/or bus speeds need to be changed, but I don't know how. I looked all through the BIOS and can't find anything that refers to bus speed. I have changed the jumpers around but the system runs at 300 no matter what the jumpers are set at. The motherboard is a M6TLC, and I have the manual, but cannot seem to find out how to change the bus speed. There are jumper setting diagrams, but none that refer to a 450 mghrtz processor, and changing them does nothing anyway.
I wanted to up the speed on this old machine, put in a new bigger hard drive, put WINxp (it now runs 98se) on it and use it for backups. I'm beginning to think that this processor upgrade can't be done, but any advice would surely be appreciated.

Ok guys someone please help me understand this better. Are intel core duo the best or fastest processor out now? Also if a laptop is Intel Core Duo 2.0 GHz and a pc Intel Pentium 4 3.66 GHz which processor is faster?

Im not understanding what the X.XXGHz mean...is that based on the processor?

I understand that Intel Core Duo has 2 processors and thats why they are so great....does that mean that it is 2.0GHz per processor? so its really 4.0GHz?

sorry if I'm way off here but I want to understand this better.

PS. Im not sure where this would go so please feel free to move if necessary.

Hay there, I recently obtained a new system for a very cheap price with a surprisingly good processer with it.

New computer: -

Intel DQ45EK mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.9GHz Socket 775
3GB ram (max 4gb)

Current Computer: -

Gigabyte P31-D3SL mobo
Intel Pentium D 925 3.00 GHz Socket 775
4GB ram

Alright so the issue is I want to swap the processors around but when I put the Pentium D into the Intel DQ45EK mobo it comes up with a blank screen with the fan blowing intensely, reboots and then just hangs with the intense fan speed. When I swap back the processors the orignal Core 2 Duo does this same thing but then it goes back to normal after a few reboots. The E7500 works fine in my old system though... I would think the pentium D would be widely supported x-x

Any ideas cause im lost at the moment.

A:Intel(R) Celeron(R) or Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4

If your motherboard properly supports the Pentium 4 & if you can OC it to speeds close to 3.0GHz, it should be much better than the Celeron. It all depends on the Pentium 4 though, mostly which core it is based on (Northwood, Prescott, etc.).

Do you have any extra info on it ?

I just got a new laptop, and it's CPU is a dual-core Intel Pentium. When I was playing nothing else was running (other than obvious stuff like explorer.exe) and yet the CPU was like 70%. Also, the CPU goes really high when I do the littlest of things. I thought a dual-core Intel Pentium would be alright at playing games. So why is it so terrible at playing games?

Better to go Core 2 Duo I personally believe - less heat. The P4's are ovens at the high end.

I wouldn't recommend putting a micro ATX board into a (standered) ATX case.

Also the onboard graphics (6100) are not ment for gammming, if you're looking for gamming look into a $150+ plus graphic card

So, you need a different motherboard for you're case, a graphic card, and some ram.

looking at dxdiag what does the 2 cpu's mean? I did want to install 2 monitors on this machine but ony have a plug for 1. the 2 cpus makes me wonder....

A:intel pentium 4 cpu 3.4 ghz (2 cpus)

Most likely referring to a technology called 'Hyperthreading'. Made by Intel, and introduced into some of their P4 processors, Hyperthreading or HT is essentially a 'virtual' dual-core CPU. The way the processor functions is designed to mimic two separate processors inside a single core processor. If your processor has HT, some system diagnostics will report it as 2 processors, when you only have one. Do not confuse HT with the new Core 2 Duo processors by Intel, as these new chips are true dual-core processors.

In order to install two monitors, your video card needs to support multiple monitors. Does your video card have two monitor connectors on it or just one?

A:Which processor - AMD A8 or Intel Pentium?

I've found two pages that compare these exact processor models, but the evaluations seem to be oriented toward gaming performance.

Simple question that I can't seem to find the answer to: Which is overall a better chip (speed/power consumption), Intel Pentium M Processor 740 (1.73 GHz/2MB Cache) vs 1.5GHz Power PC G4 (Mac)? I am not sure how to compare the two chips. I am debating on purchasing an Apple PowerBook or some Dell model. I will be using it for very very basic operations (word processing, e-mail, web browsing, mp3's, and some 2-d digital photo manipulation). Thanks for any advice

A:Intel Pentium M vs Power PC G4?

Well here we are talking (no pun intended! Or is there?) Apples Versus Oranges. When you look at a g4 powerbook, you are talking a bit more money. Not much as they have come down in price. But you are also talking about the Apple OS. you would be limited to running Apple specific software (Unless you install a PC Emulator). Surfing the web, doing email and such as that is about the same. If you have particular PC programs that you are used to and prefer then go with a PC based laptop. There are some killer deals on PC Based Laptops out there right now. And you can if you want to run Apple PRograms, install an emulator for this also.

Are you well versed in OS X or are you just looking at which would be the better deal. Service wise and availability I would have to recommend a PC based Laptop. Though I myself have been tempted and looking into a Power Book lately.

I am very new to the world of computers. Recently I acquired an old computer and it has a Intel Pentium II processor with 399 MHZ, 128 MB of ram. I know that all of what I describe has something to do with memory and speed. But I am unsure which one is what. Also the operating system is Windows XP. Can someone enlighten me -
1. What is MHZ,and MB 2. can the system be upgraded to improve performance. ? 3. Can you direct me to a site that can teach me about upgrading or just basic computer knowledge.
