I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Please check and see if you can get into BIOS. By the way list Dell model number and version of window. Ex: Dell Inspiron 3543, windows 10
1. Power off computer
2. Power on computer, quickly start tapping F2 key continuously. Hopefully, you'll be able to see BIOS screen.

Hi

As far as I know the BIOS package downloaded from the Toshiba US driver page contains the WinRAR 32-bit self-extracting ZIP file which includes both Windows-based and diskette based BIOS update installation options.

Did you try to update the BIOS using Win-based BIOS?

What OS do you use?

I put in my new video card ( ATI Radeon x1650 AGP) and I tried to get windows to work. It worked but kept shutting down with the BSOD. I searched around the internet and found that I should update my BIOS. I used the ASUS program to download and fix the BIOS that I had and BIOS 1.14 for my Motherboard (ASUS A7V8X-X) after installation I rebooted and my monitor wouldn't show anything a feeling went through my stomach that I had just screwed up big. I tried placing my 2 older video cards (ATI All-In-Wonder 9600, and an Nvidia card from 2000) the Nvidia card showed the screen and it said something about my disk crashing. Is there any way to recover my computers motherboard, or am i in too deep? Please reply if you have any information. Please speak in detail as I am not very educated in this area.

hey all, I bought a sempron 3000+ to fit my pc. my mobo is an asus a7v8x. the cpu was running at only 1.6 ghz so i read that if i updated the bios i could change the multiplier settings to the correct ones for the cpu. i downloaded the updated bios and used ez flash to update with a floppy disk. the update completed successfully, but now nothing happens when i power up. everything appears to be ok, as in no beeping but i have a blank screen. i tried wiping the cmos back to default but no joy. can anyone help??? and does anyone know how to correct the mobo so the sempron will run at its correct speed.....
any help will be greatly appreciated.

A:updated bios with blank screen after update

It is doubtful that a cmos reset would fix the problem.

The first step is to check the video card and processor seating on the mainboard. If you have added a new processor, your video card may have moved during the install. Take the video card out and reinstall it.

Secondly, if the problem is in the BIOS then you will have to take it to an experienced technician to be reflashed. One of the reasons I bought a Gigabyte m/b was the 'dual bios' to save you from this sort of problem. I don't think ASUS have that feature (at least it not listed on the A7V8X web page).

Don't forget that the Sempron 3000+ runs at 1.8ghz or 2.0ghz depending on the model. So don't expect the bios to show it running at 3.0ghz.

So i use the Think Centre e73 with internal graphics. I have put an pci-x Nvidia card in it. Everything is working super until today. I noticed the bios upgrade and decided to update. now I won't get any output from pci-x. I assume it reverted back to using the internal Intel graphics, which wouldn't be a problem if I had the display port adapter. Is there anyway I can change this from a switch on the mobo?  I did try to reset settings by the clear cmos hoping that it would turn into some kind of autodetect to no avail. As of now it boots up but with a black screen. I have been searching the forum for the last hour trying to figure it out. I'm about ready to try anything from hammers to sorcery to sort this out.

I really hope you lot can help me here. I consider myself quite good with computers but I'm at a total loss here.

Thanks in advance.

So all this started when I was updating my laptop's bios (which I've done before twice and went smoothly) except for this time.

I downloaded the BIOS update soon after the notebook recommendeds me to do so from official Toshiba website (MEA) after putting it's exact model number and part number as I have done before.

The BIOS version on the notebook was v 1.60 and to be upgraded to v 1.70 the process went smoothly upto the step that it shows it's upgrading insydeH20 firmware with a progress bar in DOS window. After it says BIOS is successfully updated it shut down and all went quiet. But the next time I tried to boot it up the screen came up with nothing (Fans work, Light indicators work). But when I try to open the BIOS menu pressing F2 there is nothing (no beeping too).

After this incident I tried

*Booting up with 1 ram stick only
*Holding down the power button for like a minute
*Taking out and putting back the CMOS battery

....still nothing

Am I screwed up? Or is there anything you guys out there can help with?

The same issue from BIOS 1.2.5 is happening with BIOS 1.2.6. After the update, the boot screen remain totally black (no Dell logo) and you cant enter in the BIOS interface (no video at all).
The workaround is to downgrade to BIOS version 1.2.3
The windows boots as usual, and maybe this is the reason that users havent noticed this issue.
The bios upgrade/downgrade is automated. No mouse clicks are needed. Just wait computer to boot and wait some minutes. After this (blind) downgrade (because there is no video), you will see the dell logo once again and everything works as usual.

Hey @cgruchy11,  Thank you for joining in the HP Support Forums and asking for help with the BIOS Update on your HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab137ca that you are stuck on.  Did you manage to get the BIOS Update to finish?  Is it the BIOS Startup menu that you are trying to have not come up when you start the Notebook? The Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) is responsible for setting up devices used by your system so that those devices can send and receive data. The BIOS does a checklist on your hardware to make sure everything is functioning properly to be able to continue to the Operating System.  Updating the BIOS, also known as "flashing the BIOS," replaces the BIOS firmware. When completed successfully, a BIOS update can fix or enhance aspects of a notebook's performance, or provide support for newly installed hardware. However, if an incorrect update is installed or if the update process is interrupted, the motherboard can be permanently damaged, leaving the computer unable to boot. It is recommended to update your BIOS only if one or more of the following conditions apply:The update fixes a problem with your computer. The update enhances your computer's performance in a desired way.You are planning to change the operating system, processor, or other feature(s), and the current BIOS version will not support the new configuration. An HP Support Agent, or an HP support document, recommends that ... Hey,My son's laptop did this blank screen too - only power button light was on, but no fan, no key lights, nothing.  I tried the same hard reset -remove batt, press power.  Almost took it apart to reseat the RAM, but decided to search the forum again (sorry I can't find that hp support page anymore).  Anyways, you will read that beside hard rest and reseating RAM, they will tell you to try connecting it to an external monitor to check if it is a display problem. Short story, none of the above worked for me, EXCEPT THIS - hold down Windows key and "B" key.  While holding down the Windows and B key, press and hold the power button for about one second, then release all 3 buttons.  The power key will light up, wait for about 40 seconds (more or less), then the BIOS will update. Hope it works for you too. UPDATE:  I just found the link again.... Hello to the BleepingComputer community,First of all I'm sorry I haven't finished some of the steps from the Preparation Guide. It's because these steps require a reboot (e.g. Step 6: Disable your CD Emulation Software - DeFogger will ask me to reboot the machine), and I have a bad feeling about the question if it is safe to reboot in my situation: I'm not sure if I have a type of malware which is ready to infect the BIOS - if it is so, then it could infect it much easier during the reboot process.- If there is a good way to find out what is the problem (and fix the BIOS threat part if it really is present) without rebooting / shutting down this PC, or at least without booting from this hard drive (which I feel is probably infected), then please tell me what should I do.- If you know a place / forum where I can get a specialized help for this (seemingly BIOS-malware related) situation, please tell me where I could go.- If there is no way to move forward, I'll go ahead and risk the reboot, and follow the other steps (steps 6 to 10) in the Preparation Guide, no problem.I kindly ask you to please read below the details of the problem as it occured to me, and the things I have tried so far.The PC is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core BE-2350 2.1GHz, Motherboard Biostar TA690G AM2 (with AWARD BIOS), 4GB RAM, 200GB SATA HDD, and an ASUS EAH4870 card added a few years ago. It's with WinXP SP3, AVG Free 2012, (standard) Windows Firewall, and it's behind a router.I ... Hello All! I am a bit inexperienced and new to the forums and am seeking help. I have been using a latitude E5520 for a few years now and have been very happy. About a year and a half ago, my hinges broke and slowly my laptop has been dying. I recently purchased a refurbished identical laptop with the hopes of just moving my SSD, RAM, Processor over and It would all work the same. Once I put my SSD in the new laptop, it would boot, but turn off after 10 seconds and I could here the fans going at full speed before it died. After doing some research, I figured I would update the drivers and BIOS to get the current laptop config as close to my old laptop as possible to increase the likelihood that the SSD would work properly on this other laptop. After downloading the FW and following the instruction, the laptop shut off and never came back up. The lights and keyboard attempt to turn on, but the screen doesn't attempt to turn on and it is making some small noises as it keeps shutting off and powering on. At this point, I would just like to get the new laptop working and forget about swapping parts, if anybody out there can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Is this an AMI BIOS.
If so, and you can get the new BIOS onto a floppy, there is a possibility you may still be able to flash the new BIOS.

Most Mobos with an AMI BIOS will look for a floppy disk with a bios update on it.

From what I understand  your notebook works fine when using English keyboard layout, but does not work as expected if you change to Spanish keyboard layout.

Check your BIOS for a language or region setting and adjust as needed.  Also - look in control panel for keyboard settings and install additional keboard layout for Spanish.

Good luck.

Today I found some time to run updates using the pre-loaded ThinkVantage software on the machine. Hi,
Any advice?
I have a 9010 SFF that was working fine, except that it would not install the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.  Repeatedly, about 30% through the update it failed with a BSOD. I tried several times.
Somewhere I read that the BIOS might need updating so I headed over to DELL support.  I let the website automatically detect my system and it found a recommended BIOS update, version A24.
I initiated the BIOS update from the website and it seemed to run successfully but when the PC rebooted it hung half way through POST.
On a second attempt to start the machine - nothing - no display, no light, just will not start.
I tried clearing the NVRAM as indicated on the DELL website here: www.dell.com/.../SLN284985
I tried both the RTCRST jumper method and the battery removal method.
The result - it now continuously reboots but still no POST, no display, nothing.
I should add that during the original BIOS update, the PC had a Quadro 600 graphics card and a LSI 9200-8e SAS adapter card inside. They had both been working faultlessly and were removed when I tried to reset the BIOS NVRAM.
Any suggests on what next to recover my "bricked" desktop?
Andy

I have a Toshiba Satelite PRO 4300 that will not boot up. It displays a screen that has a graphical moon and sun seperated by a bar graph type box. There is no indication of a bios screen on power up. The LEDs initialize as expected. It will not even recognize a floppy disk after the drive does a seek at power up.

Anyone have any ideas?

Lately I noticed my computer was running slower so I followed the HP Troubleshoot guide and it mentioned updating my BIOS system. So thats what I did; however, halfway through the computer shut off. And now the keyboard lights light up and I hear the fans running but the screen stays off as if the computer is off (not dark or blank but completely off). I have tried doing a hard reset and nothing has worked.

As you have now found out, the GeForce GTX 750Ti card does not play nice the that motherboard ( IPISB-CU (Carmel2) ).  There is another option but not with using that motherboard-graphics cars combination.  A different graphics card needs to be purchased.See HEREhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Video-Display-and-Touch/List-of-compatible-graphics-cards-for-p...

A:AMD Dual Core processors - updating BIOS/flashing BIOS?

Flash a BIOS?
You need to download the update from the motherboard manufacturer. Then follow the directions in the readme file that usually comes with it.

My PC crashes frequently and the blue screen mentions to update BIOS as one way to prevent the crashes
I have recently upgraded my RAM from 512MB to 1512MB, also my graphics card from Geforce 6200 to a Geforce 8800 320MB, also from windows XP to Vista. The PC make is a siemens Scaleo P with 3.06Ghz and a Celeron D processor.
however when i tired to update my Bios i couldnt find the download. My motherboard is made by Gigabyte (GA-8S649 MF) the nearest is GA-8S648 and 650. when i search the motherboard number on google the results are rare and foreign making it difficult to understand.
Please help and all advice is welcome
cheers

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Have you tried the Fujitsu/Siemens website?

You will need to enter the serial number into the search options.

Hi @all

how can i make a bios update on the Keyboard extension?

Bios from Tablet is 1.70
Bios from Keyboard is 1.50

When i start the update, the update say "Your Bios is up to date!"

Sorry for bad english, it is not my native Language

A:Satellite Click Mini - BIOS Update Keyboard extension fail

If your BIOS is already up to date, you don’t need the BIOS update.

and you can use only the BIOS which is available on the Toshiba download page

hi there, i am fixing a friends old computer and the hdd was stuffed so i got a new maxtor diamondmax 9 for it. although once installing it i found out that it would only run in udma2 mode (checked it in another computer and it ran at full udma6)
so i suspect that the current bios cannot support udma5 or 6, so i am looking for a bios upgrade for it.
the bios string is 6A69RPRDC-00, the number on the actual motherboard is 35-C960-00-05
thanks for any help, i am really hoping i can make this board work at udma5 at least and not have to settle for udma2.
thanks again
-Moltenz

ps. i just found this
AM-960
04/19/2001-i815-ITE87X2-6A69RPRDC-00 ITE87X2 + Winbond-W39A
at http://www.plasma-online.de/english/identify/serial/mainboard/mb_aristo.html
if that is any help.

A:help with updating bios. cannot find bios upgrade - 6A69RPRDC-00

WOW..............

Old Machines.....(just like me... but can still perform to the max lol)

I your Bios has the option of udma up to 6 then generally the bios supports the Mode! and your problem is that the HDD does not support the mode (cant remember if you said it does).

You are probably using wrong criteria for bios upgrade search.
Try WWW.driverguide,com

You Need the MB's Manufacturers Name or at least the MB Chipset and bios Manufacturers Name as well. go to the Computers muanufacturers website (you probably done that already) and search model.

otherwise Download a System info utility from Tech Spot, I use SiSoft Sandra or AIDA32.. (sandra might cause bluescreen on older machines).. Aida problably will have link direct to bios update site. hope this was of some help
