[SOLVED] Internet Explorer Favorites not showing up !!

Q: [SOLVED] Internet Explorer Favorites not showing up !!

Hello
I have a windows vista premimum loaded laptop with internet explorer 8 installed. Everything was working fine up to a point when i had to reset the internet explorer settings to its default.

Prior to the reset, I was able to add favorites and view the favorites in my address bar asi begin to type the letters. But after the reset, this behaviour stopped.

I have tried the autocomplete path. The address bar and the favorites check box are ticked under tools > options > content > settings. I un-checked clicked ok and checked back again, just to make sure that it gets reset in the registry. But still I cannot get the favorites to display in address bar as I type.

This happened before and I followed a registry tweak which corrected the behavoiur. Unfortunately I cannot find the link anymore and I did not add it to favorite !!. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks

Preferred Solution: [SOLVED] Internet Explorer Favorites not showing up !!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: [SOLVED] Internet Explorer Favorites not showing up !!

Ok, Looks like either no has a solution or no one has bothered to reply. Anyways, for the benefit of others who might have faced the same problem, find below the solution that I figured out.

In IE go to Tools > Internet Options > Content.
Click Settings under Auto Complete
Make sure Address Bar is ticked and so is Favorite.
But most importantly, make sure that "Use Windows Search for better results" is un-ticked.

Click OK and OK again.

Now you will be able to see favourites appearing in the address bar.

Thanks for viewing.

Hello Guys,

When I use the Internet Explorer Metro app and click on the address bar I can see frequent sites but pinned sites and favorites are missing. I have a preview release still installed in a virtual machine and I can see pinned sites on that but not on this proper 64 bit purchased full install copy of Windows 8.

I have posted a screen shot below.

Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks

Tony

A:Internet Explorer not showing pinned sites or favorites

Hello Tony,

Are these sites that were pinned to Start from within IE10 Metro? The ones pinned from within IE10 desktop will not display in IE10 Metro?

This has to do with The Favorites folders,

I can from C drive ........ navigate to my favorites folder and arrange then by "name".

Once I open Internet Explorer and navigate to a web site from my favorites folder the order of the files are no longer sorted from A=Z ....... I spend half my time trying to find folder from IE.

Is there some trick to keep these files permently sorted and in order?

Hello,

This is my 1st question/posting, so please bear with me. I have Vista, and explorer 7. I did at one time try explorer 8, but didn't like it. So I removed it. Bottom line, I now notice that I can't open most of "my favorites" from the list I created. I tried to re-install 7 again, but didn't work. Is this some kind of virus, malware? How the heck do you get it back to normal.

Please help.

Thank you.

For some reason my favorites are gone from my Internet Explorer version 7. I am using windows XP home edition. Is there some way to recover my favorites list? I did a search for "bookmark.htm" but the only thing found was very old. I do have a Favorites folder on my desktop but I don't know how to get it into the Internet Explorer program.

Thanks for any help.

A:Solved: Favorites are missing from Internet Explorer

Hi, In that folder on your desktop, is there a bookmark.htm file? What is in the folder if not bookmark.htm? (change the View settings to Details to see easier).

Do you think it is the folder from your user account?

If you do not have another browser (like Firefox, Netscape etc) where your Favorites were exported to from IE, you can Import the list of Favorites from a File, using the Import/Export wizard. Find it by going to File at the top of any IE page....click Import/Export,and follow the prompts.

The Favorites folder is usually located by default at>

C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Favorites

(As you probably know, other user accounts have different Favorites saved)

I find it a good idea to put a copy about once a week on different media, or at least mail them to yourself so they are stored online.

Does anyone know how to alphabetize the items in my Favorites lists in Internet Explorer? When I upgraded to IE 5.5 the newly added items go to the bottom of the folder, and exiting and restarting Explorer does not sort all entries as happened with the earlier version of IE. Thanks!

A:(Solved) sorting favorites in internet explorer

Sorting favorites in IE 5.0 and above is done by clicking the favorites in the very top line, (not the one lower in bar) and right click on any item and click sort by name.
Hope that helps.

I have a few subfolders in the favorites folder, and although I can see the subfolder in explorer, it doesn't show up in the folder tree on the left. Even if I go to the subfolder (doubleclicking in the main view), it still doesn't show up in the tree on the left.

Is it because it's a special kind of folder, and has everyone the same behaviour, or is something wrong at my end?

Windows Seven's default doesn't show all folders. Go to "folder options" and at the bottom is the navigation pane options, check "show all folders" then OK. That should do the trick for ya if I understand you correctly.

If it's the actual shortcuts themselves, copy them to C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Favorites. If it is a bookmark.htm file, then import it by opening the browser and clicking File, Import and Export, and then follow the wizard.

You could right click on the taskbar, go to toolbars and select links . Then go to the links on the task bar, right click on one of the favorites and select sort by name. You could also do this by adding links to your IE toolbar.Another way to organize them is to go to your favorites folder located in C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Favorites and organizing them there.

Hello,

I know by default in windows XP that the Favorites folder in C:\Documents\Documents and Settings\user name is where favories are saved. In other words, when I go to "favorites" under internet explorer, the files that are saved in the above folder are the ones that show up. But, I was wondering if it's possible to change that location. I have two computers at home and both of them are in the same network. what I want to do is have them both of them use the same folder for favorites. That way, when I add favorites while browsing on one computer, it updates the favorites on the other. Is there any way to do this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Works for me, the fact that you are launching the website suggests that you may be releasing the bouse, you need to click on the folder, keep it "clicked down" while you move the mouse up or down to relocate it.

Mind you my IE7 is part of Vista, but it worked under XP as well from memory.
