I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Guys, I am having trouble with some Bose QC35 headphones. They have been working fine until a short time ago, nothing has changed as far as I can tell
Now I only have sound when the headset is connected as a headset, but not when it is connected headphones. This is a problem becuase the microphone turns on so I get feedback from surround sounds and the ANC on my headset turns off. When I go into the control panel and try testing the sound, the green bars move up and down for both headphone and headset, but I only actually hear sound from the headset.
I have tried updating firmwares, turning computer and headphones on and off, repairing the headphones, checked all the volume selection spots I know about and as far as I can tell, there should be sound coming from the headphones
Computer is a lenovo P50 running windows 7
Anyone got any suggestions?

I have 2 headsets both from different companies, one from Andrea the other from Altec Lansing. I have them plugged into the front ports of my tower. My computer detects them both and says that they are working. However, I can hear out of them, but I cannot say anything. It does not hear me at all. I've tried various testing procedures and it doesn't detect anything.

What do I do?

A:Headset detected, not working (2nd headset)

Hi Cdn, The Vista default setting under audio and microphone is rear line in. Right Click the speaker
icon in your task bar or system tray. Click on the Recording tab at the top. Make sure that Front Mic.
is enabled and has a green check mark next to it. Click Apply and Okay. Try it now.

I have tried 2 different headsets using front ports of my computer. The headsets are detected by the computer and I can hear fine out of them, but no voice is detected. I have tried numerous tests and other small things, but nothing seems to work. The headsets are supposed to be working properly according to the system.

What do I do?

A:Headset not working relating sound card?

Assuming onboard audio, is it enabled in the bios and are the drivers for it installed? Checked in the Vista audio playback and recording settings that the sound card (and not the USB headset) are both set as the default devices?

One thing you need to remember is that a USB headset in no way whatsoever makes use of a sound card (either onboard or an actual card), as it usually has its own DSP and drivers (or depending on the headset, just use Windows own USB drivers).

Good night, this problem is very annoying:
I bought Logitech Headset F540, when I connect the base to my computer with USB, first I can hear a noise in the sound, then after X minutes the sound stop working.

I sent an email to logitech support and they said to me that there is no problem in their drivers (Because they don have), I tested the Headset on Linux and there was no noise and I was able to hear my music a long time. There is no problem on the headset hardware.

So, I searched a lot, I found some posts here on sevenforums, but I do not find any solution to the problem, I saw too that this problem is not only on Logitech but Sennheiser and ClearChat.

I found a post on Microsoft site to trace USB events (USB Event Tracing For Windows). I launched this commands:
C:\>Logman start Usbtrace -p Microsoft-Windows-USB-USBPORT PowerDiagnostics -o usbtrace.etl -ets -nb 128 640 -bs 128
El comando se complet? correctamente.

C:\>logman update usbtrace -p Microsoft-Windows-USB-USBHUB -ets
El comando se complet? correctamente.

C:\>Logman stop Usbtrace -ets
El comando se complet? correctamente.

And the output is a capture file containing information about USB events, I made this while plugin the base via USB and when the error is present I stoped the utiliy.

With Microsoft Network Monitor I am able to see what happen, but I can not find the solution for the issue:

So three days ago I wiped all of my drives and installed Windows 10. I have a Corsair Vengenace 2100 headset. I installed the realtek drivers from ASUS download section for my motherboard and then I installed the headset drivers.

The problem is that my headset does not record anything through the microphone if I set it to be the default device for audio output. If I have my other computer speakers as the default output device my microphone works just fine.

This goes for all the USBs in the back of the motherboard. The headset works just great if I plug in the wireless reciever in the front of the computer.

I have tried to reinstall the drivers multiple times and checked a bunch of different settings in the sound manager in windows but nothing seems to work.

Have also googled all kinds of things but nothing seems to relate to my problem.

I do not have any external sound card plugged into my computer.

Thanks for any help provided!

EDIT: Can be closed as I found the win 10 forum after I made the thread. Sorry!

I am knew on the board. Greetings

I installed a NEW Logitech USB Headset 350 onto my Winows XP Service Pack 2 generic 'puter.

I now have no speaker sound and no option shows except the headset and "Modem #1 line ".

It sorta looks like I have no speaker drivers .

Unplugging the headset does not help.

Anybody know how to fix this problem so I am not forced to wear a headset for audio ALL OF THE TIME ?

A:Installed new USB Headset NOW no speaker audio even if I unplug the headset

Yeah, my USB headset was a little weird at first as well.

Try going into your volume control (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control):
1. Click Options
2. Properties
3. Change the mixer device from the USB headset to your speakers.

Should work.

Also should note you can change the output settings in most audio software (for example: Windows Media Player, Winamp, etc.) so if you can't hear anything from your speakers when using those programs, try fiddling with those settings as well. I know for Winamp it's Options > Preferences > Plug-ins > Output > double-click the plug-in you use (mine is out_ds.dll) and again change it to your speakers using the drop down menu.

I have used the microphone and the headset adapter on my PS4 controller and it works so the microphone is not defected. my computer does not detect my headphones but still plays audio through it, and the microphone is not detected. I can't figure out how to fix this. I noticed that, when I'm watching a video, my headset's mic will relay the audio coming into my headset. Disabling Stereo Mix doesn't fix it. The physical controller that's on my headset cable doesn't stop it from happening, as even if I turn the volume knob all the way down and flick the mute switch, it's still picking up the audio. Muting my headset from within the computer stops the mic from hearing it, as does switching to my speakers that are plugged into the front jack. My headset is a 3.5mm jack type plugged into the back of the computer, directly into the motherboard.

the topic pretty much says it. I bought myself a new headset(C-media headphone set or something) which uses a USB-port instead of an original sound-port-thing. The problem is, whenever I plug the headset in the USB-port pretty much nothing happens and I can't get the sound in the headset, it just stays in the speakers...

It used to be no problem when I used a headset with the sound-port on the motherboard to just change it. Anyone have any suggestions on what I might do? :(

edit: forgot to say that it works just fine after rebooting the computer.

Thank you

Hi Foonksh,

Try going into the Control Panel and go into Sounds and Audio Devices. From there you can pick the default device for recording and for playback. In the playback section, set the headset as the default device instead of your speakers.

With my old headset i used to have a blast recording sounds/music coming out of my comptuer directly using wave out. Often for MSN voice clips and such.

I haven't changed anything, but now that i have this new headset, the only recording i seem to be able to do is voice recording in sound recorder, i can't seem to record wave out mix on sound recorder, and can't record anything whatsoever in msn voice clips.

I can hear voice clips sent to me though, strange thing is, when someone invited me to an audio conversation earlier, i got the annoying ringing noise alright , but i couldn't hear anything.

I checked my volume controls nothing is muted.
Any help would be fantastic! Thanks in advance

I've searched around a lot about this topic, but after hours and days of searching, I've found nothing to fix my problem. I have a headset that has speakers and a microphone (3.5mm jacks) that work fine, except when I'm trying to talk to someone using the microphone, they can hear the sounds coming from my headset (youtube videos, game sounds etc). I've tried installing the Realtek HD Audio Codec but it disappears after it finishes installing and after I restart (although it still remains in the Programs and Features uninstall page), the program files for it is empty with the exception of RtlUpd64.exe which doesn't do anything when executed and a few other files.
In device manager, the things I have under sound, video and game controllers are Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus and the Intel Display Audio. I've updated everything to the latest. Also, I recently system restored my computer and before I did I had IDT High Definition Audio Drivers, but after updating they were changed.
I think the problem is that stereo mix is enabled somewhere or something to do with my drivers as when I tried plugging my headset into my brother's computer, it worked fine (he has the Gigabyte Realtek Audio Manager thing and was able to adjust the stereo mix settings).
If there's a program or workaround to this, or how to disable the stereo mix like through registry or something, please let me know.

A:Headset mic recording sounds through headset?

You are correct, that is the usual cause of this problem. And aside from being set in the drivers, it can sometimes be set in the application (used for the communication).

That model does appear to use the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio chipset. The problem is likely in the fact that you upgraded to Win10 and I don't see that HP supports nor supplies drivers for Win10 (I only see drivers for 7 and 8). Which means you are using generic drives supplied by Windows. The generic Windows drivers often work well enough to get hardware functional, but quite often don't support all hardware or all features of all hardware.

I have a almost broken headset, but the microphone still works fine, The microphone is connected on the wire right before the headset, Its not actually touching the headset itself.

Would this microphone still work if the headset was cut off?

Sorry but I can't manage to take a photo but

A:Will a Headset microphone still work if I cut it off the Headset?

Is the microphone actually supported by the headset, by that I mean when the set is on your head is the microphone carried close to your mouth so you have both hands free. If this is the case then cutting off the headset will mean the microphone will not have any way of being held near your mouth.
If you cut it off you will have to be very careful you don't cut the wires for the microphone & it's possible that there is a common return wire for the earpieces & the microphone in the form of a shielded cable, so it would be very difficult, but if you have skills in this area it could be done.

So i've been browsing forums for a while now and can't find out what's going on. I have a sound card with Realtek HD Audio. Recently, I connected a PCIM cord to my motherboard so I can have sound on an HDTV, which works fine. SINCE then, this problem started. The front ports for MIC and sound don't work at all, I don't get an "audio device detected" message. If i plug my headset MIc and Sound into the back of the PC, i hear the sound but so does everyone else instead of my Voice. I can tell this i whats happening because when I right click on recording options i see the bars on the mic moving with my sounds. Now if I unplug the sound portion and leave the MIC in, it does pick up my voice as normal. I can even plug in my speakers and they will play sound and it will work that way. not really ideal for a headset however, I'm not sure what setting to change or what to do to get this to work. Also the headset does not show up in playback devices, i have show hidden and unused checked. I tried to update my drivers but when I try to install them windows gives me a "untrsuted" pop-p that re-appears not matter how many times I select allow. any ideas?

A:My sound is going through PC instead of the MIC with headset

When you are using HDMI, that becomes the defaul audio playback device. In order for the PC sound system (including headphones) to work or properly work the "Speakers" (your sound card) must be set as the default audio playback device.

Windows only allows you to have one default audio playback device, e.g. HDMI OR Speakers but not both.

Hi guys,

Im new on the website and I would appreciate some help. Basically for some reason starting last night only one side (the right side) of my headset works with my PC. I have tested the same headset with my iPod and both sides work, even further I used my iPod earphones with the PC and the same results - only the right earphone works.

I have tried google search to see if anyone had a similar problem but most of the replies are "Oh it must be your headset or check the audio/stereo settings"

Before one side of the headset stopped working, literally 20 minute before it stopped I was listening to music on YouTube and everything was working. I did not pull any cables nor dropped the PC lol and I didnt even turn the PC off.

Im not great with handling PC's so you tell me what information should I provide. To start with I am using a 32bit Windows XP and here is some info I got from EVEREST:

? CPU Type AMD Athlon 64, 2000 MHz (10 x 200) 3200+
? Motherboard Name ECS RX480-A (3 PCI, 2 PCI-E x1, 1 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR DIMM, Audio, LAN)
? Motherboard Chipset ATI Radeon Xpress 200P, AMD Hammer

? Audio Adapter ATI SB400 - AC'97 Audio Controller

I presume I will have to buy a new motherboard or sound card; I am not sure if a have one or an inbuilt one, you tell me =] Thanks

A:Headset only gets sound on right side

if you're settings are correct, i guess the onboard sound probably have been busted, considering the age of the AC97 itself.

I'm having a problem with the sound from headsets.

I currently have 2 Logitech USB headsets, both of which are different models.

For some reason, neither one of them will play sounds correctly. Some sounds will play crystal clear, while others are extremely quiet and almost impossible to hear. One example of this is in songs played on youtube or iTunes, I can hear some background music and background singing clearly, yet main vocals and some instruments I'm unable to hear at all. Another problem I'm having is not being able to hear voices in Ventrilo, but I can hear the Ventrilo sounds when I enter a server.

This problem started randomly yesterday, and was not triggered by any sort of update or download that I know of. My computer's speakers work fine if I unplug the headset. Since, I have gone through window updates, tried plugging them into different ports, and I've tried going to the Logitech website, but apparently the driver is a default windows driver.

I'm completely lost as to what I can try next to fix this problem.

I'm running windows XP.
As far as I can tell I have an NVidia NForce Sound Card which, though somewhat strange, has run fine for some time now. I found, however, that for certain functions, I needed a headset. So out I went to Fry's and got a USB headset. My speakers are already using the little plugs on the sound card so this seemed logical. Windows recognized the device right away and they work very well.

The problem is my speakers no longer work.

Both Speakers and headset have volume control on the device so I really just want both outputting at the same time. Is there a way to get both Headset and speakers to work at the same time? If so, What should I do please?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi all,

I have a new custom computer since one year (description bellow) for which I have a 2-usb pnp sound device (headset: steelseries 3H). Since the beginning the sound in the headset is really absolutly high. I need to put the overall sound of my computer (via volume mixer) to about 2 to ear at normal volume (while for the rest of my device, sound is perfectly normal at 100). This is anoying, but I was living ok with it. But since two days, I cannot control the main volume of the system (via volume mixer) anymore when I plug the headset. When I take down the volume it automaticaly get back to 100 and its destroying my ears as the volume is freakin absolutly to loud. When I unplugged the headset and plug it back, sometimes it allows me to take the volume down, but with no advertisment it get back to 100 destroying my ears. I have update my sound driver but didn't change anything. I have uninstall battlefield 3 beta about the same time the problem started although it might not be link.

A:uncontrollable sound when using 2-usb pnp headset

I do not think this thread needs to be in this section. You should post in the audio section, as this problem is not leading to system instability or bsod, right?

A:buzzing sound in the headset

Try connecting the headset to the back of the case if you're using the front connections now.

I would like to ask if anyone knows why is it that headset sound quality is defaulted to the lowest telephone quality, and the dropdown menu to change it is inactive? In Win7 I could change it to better (or it was deafult the best, I don't remember), but now the sound is just abysmal. I used to listen to music on my Philips SHB6110, but now it just chirs and whistles.

Any ideas how to change the settings?

Thanks in advance!

About a year ago I had a headset I used for gaming and whatnot. It was a piece of crap, but it worked fine. It was a USB one. Before that, I had one that went into the sound card, and it also worked great.
Well recently (yesterday) I bought a new, and the I couldn't get the mic to work. I could hear music and sounds, all that, but the microphone wouldn't pick up my voice. I spent about an hour trying to configure with it, inside and outside the game, but to no avail. I went on the manufactures website, and found that many people were having the same trouble with he same headset.
So today, I took it back and got another. Well, this one does the same thing. I now believe it's my computer that's producing the problem. Both the ones I bought are both Logitech.
Please help?
