I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am trying to install the latest Insider Preview and I keep getting the error in the title. I have searched the internet to see if there is a solution. I tried SFC scan and it found corrupt files and corrected them. I ran this twice to make sure no other issues.

I click the Retry and it acts like its downloading the file. It does the download sequence. It installs the first downloaded updates then it downloads more updates. Completes the download but remains on Downloading updates 100% for a long period of time then displays the error.

I would appreciate any suggestions to correct this.

Hello Windows Insiders!

Today we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16288 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring only (not Skip Ahead). As we mentioned previously, we are now at the point of the development cycle for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update where our focus is now on stabilization for release to the world. This means that we are releasing new builds to Insiders more quickly and that these builds will include mostly bug fixes. You?ll notice that this build continues to include a bunch of good bug fixes Insiders will enjoy.

On Build 16288, you will notice that the watermark at the lower right-hand corner of the desktop has disappeared. You will also see that the OS now reports as ?Version 1709? which is the official version number for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update release. However, this is NOT the final build as we?re not done yet. We?re just now beginning the phase of checking in final code to prepare for the final release. So we will have more builds to release to Windows Insiders between now and then. And the desktop watermark may re-appear in these builds.

We are also releasing Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 15250 to Insiders in the Fast ring.

Hello Windows Insiders!

Today we are excited to release Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16232 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring! We are also releasing Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 15228 to Insiders in the Fast ring. Earlier this week, we announced new end-to-end security features coming with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and this build for PC includes some of those new security features.

A note about app updates
In order to provide Windows customers with the highest quality inbox apps possible, we will pause testing new versions of our inbox apps with Windows Insiders. This means that Insiders will not receive app updates from the Windows Store for our inbox apps that are newer than the apps included in the build. Insiders may notice that some features we were testing in our inbox apps ? including recent updates to the Photos app ? will temporarily disappear. This is because some of our inbox apps won?t have all the latest new features without getting an update from the Store. It is critical that Insiders are experiencing the same version of Windows that will be released as the default version for all Windows users. Insiders will once again start receiving app updates in the very near future. As always, your feedback will help us tremendously to define the overall Windows experience and insure the quality of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is excellent for our customers.

Eye Control (beta)
Yesterday, we announced Eye Control, which makes Windows 10 more accessible by empowering people with disabilities to operate an on-screen mouse, keyboard, and text-to-speech experience using only their eyes. The experience requires a compatible eye tracker, like the Tobii Eye Tracker 4C, which unlocks access to the Windows operating system to be able to do the tasks one could previously accomplish with a physical mouse and keyboard. We are starting by supporting the EN-US keyboard layout, and we are looking to expand to more keyboard layouts in the future. We are excited to release this experience as a beta and would love your feedback!

Setting up Eye Control:
Own or purchase a Tobii Eye Tracker 4C (Coming next will be support for Tobii Dynavox PCEye Mini, PCEyePlus, EyeMobile Plus, and I-series.)
Download and update to Tobii?s Core eye tracking hot fix release 2.10.11.6458 and run calibration with your own profile
Check for Windows Updates; the new Tobii Eye Tracker HIDClass Driver should be found on Windows Update and installed automatically.

Windows lets you link your phone and PC
You may remember at Build we talked about PCs and phones working better together. With Build 16251, we are introducing the first set of features that enable ?linking? your phone to your PC. This build?s scenario is focused on cross-device web-browsing. Today, we?re asking for you Windows Insiders to help us test this experience out using your Android phones. Support for iPhone is coming very soon, stay tuned.

To get started, after installing today?s new build on your PC, go to Settings > Phone and link your phone. Having you link your phone ensures that your sessions from your phone are continued only on to the PC that you?ve chosen. After adding your phone to be linked, you will receive an SMS from us directing you to install a test application called ?Microsoft Apps? for Android that completes the link between your phone and PC and enables one of our first cross device browsing scenarios.

Hello Windows Insiders!

Today, we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17101 (RS4) to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. We are also releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17604 (RS5) to Windows Insiders who have opted into Skip Ahead.

Flighting to Skip Ahead
Right now our focus is on stabilization for RS4. As part of the stabilization process, we have ?forked? RS4 into its own branch called ?RS4_RELEASE? just like we did with RS2 and RS3. Going forward ? RS4 builds will come from the RS4_RELEASE branch. This also means that we intend to release new RS4 builds to Insiders more quickly to both the Fast and Slow rings as these builds we include mostly bug fixes.

In RS3, we experimented with the idea of flighting two different releases at the same time with something we called Skip Ahead. A subset of Insiders were able to choose to ?skip ahead? to the next release of Windows 10 and receive builds from RS4 while we were finishing up RS3. That experiment went well as our engineering teams benefited from the early feedback. So we?re going to do it again!

Up until today ? Insiders who opted into Skip Ahead previously were receiving the same exact RS4 builds as Insiders in the Fast ring since Build 17017. Skip Ahead never ?turned off? and many Insiders remained in Skip Ahead since joining at the beginning of RS4. Starting today ? Windows Insiders who opted into Skip Ahead will now start receiving new builds for RS5 which is our next Windo... Read more

Microsoft today is rolling out a new cumulative update for PCs and phones in the Release Preview ring of the Insider Program. KB3201845 brings the build number to 14393.479.

As usual, there is no changelog available, as Microsoft rarely offers release notes for cumulative updates that it ships to Insiders. If it does publish them, it only arrives after a day or two, and the company is yet to explain why it's so hard to offer release notes at the same time as it actually releases the build.

The new update will replace 14393.447 for PCs, and 14393.448 for Mobile, which were released about three weeks ago. If you're on the Production ring (non-Insiders), you're likely to see the new build in two weeks, which would be the December Patch Tuesday.

If Microsoft does find it in its heart to publish some kind of changelog of the build, it should show up in the Feedback Hub. We've reached out to the company to find out what it includes, and we'll keep you updated as we know more.

Microsoft has begun to rollout Build 14393.82 for Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring. On PC, the latest update is KB3176932. This is a cumulative update so, while the release notes haven?t been published yet, it?s safe to say that it contains mostly bug fixes and small improvements instead of launching any major new features.

It?s important to emphasise that this update is for those special Windows 10 andWindows 10 Mobile users who have been enrolled in the Windows Insiders program. This program consists of volunteers who offer to run preview builds of the Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile operating systems on their own devices. Microsoft uses these users as a way to test the stability and security of special features and functions before rolling them out to the general population.

The wheels have kept turning at the Microsoft headquarters during the holiday period as a new cumulative update has been released to Insiders on the Release Preview ring.

The new update is listed as KB3209835, bringing the build number up to 14393.351, which is quite a jump from build 14393.479, released to Insiders on the Release Preview ring back in November. At present, no changelog has been released as Microsoft rarely offers notes regarding bug improvements, and fixes to the cumulative updates that ship to Windows Insiders. However, we will provide details once available, typically after the update has reached the Production ring.

There is also no corresponding update yet for Windows 10 Mobile users. If Microsoft decides to release an update for the mobile community, we will be sure to update you as we find out more.

If your computer is currently configured to be in the Release Preview ring, then you can grab the update by heading over to Settings > Update & security > Check for updates.

A new cumulative update is rolling out to Insiders that are on the Release Preview ring, which is build 14393.726 for both PC and Mobile. The new update comes exactly two weeks after the last one that reached the Production ring, 14393.693.

As you should be able to guess by now, there is no changelog available just yet. It's unclear why the company seems to have so much trouble with publishing release notes at the same time that an update is released, but if Microsoft does publish them, they'll probably show up in the Feedback Hub.

Also, it's worth noting that if Microsoft doesn't offer a changelog at all, it certainly wouldn't be the first time, so you probably shouldn't hold your breath for this one. We've reached out to the company for comment.

First spotted by Windows Central, the update will show itself as KB3216755 on PCs. If you're already on the Release Preview ring, you can grab it on your device by checking for updates. If not, you can always go to the Windows Insider Program tab and click "Get started".

Microsoft today released a late-afternoon cumulative update today for PCs in the Release Preview rings of the Windows Insider Program today. KB3176938 brings the build number to 14393.105.

In case you've got some type of photographic memory and KB3176938 looks familiar to you, that's because it is. It's the same KB number as was seen in the last cumulative update that Insiders got, 14393.103, which was for PC and Mobile. Today's update does not have a counterpart for Windows phones.

The last update to hit the Production ring (non-Insiders) for PCs was 14393.82, which broke PowerShell DSC. At the time, Microsoft promised to have a fix available on August 30, which happens to be today. That update wouldn't happen as planned.

It was assumed that today's update (had it been released) would have been 14393.103. Presumably, the company found a bug in last week's cumulative update that prevented it from being shipped to non-Insiders, forcing today's 14393.105 release.

There is no changelog available yet for today's update, which isn't entirely surprising. It's likely, however, that it's almost the same as 14393.103 was, since it has the same KB number.

Today, we are releasing Build 14267 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring.

Just to quickly recap the changes we?ve made to rings for Insiders in 2016:
We introduced the new Release Preview ring last week which is for Windows Insiders who want to stay on the Current Branch (currently builds based off of Build 10586), but continue to receive early access to updates, application updates, and driver updates. This is a great option for people who want to get updates early but not go all the way to installing full preview builds. Because the Release Preview ring offers updates to the Current Branch, it is only visible to devices on the Current Branch (Build 10586). If you are on a newer build, flights to the Release Preview ring won?t be applicable to that device. The easiest way to go between the Development Branch to the Current Branch is to use the Media Creation Tool to reinstall Windows 10.
We?ve adjusted the criteria we use to release new builds to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring to get builds out more quickly ? this means these builds may include more bugs and other issues that could be slightly more painful to live with. So if you?d like to change your ring to stick to more stable builds you can go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Advanced options and under ?Get Insider Preview builds? moving the slider to the Slow ring.

Hello Windows Insiders!

Today we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17017 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring and for those who opted in to Skip Ahead.

Going forward, we plan to release new builds for RS4 from the RS_PRERELEASE branch to Insiders in the Fast ring and those who opted in to Skip Ahead at the same time. Because we are just beginning development for RS4, Insiders shouldn?t expect to see a lot of big changes or new features just yet. But teams are just now beginning to check in new code!

What?s new in Build 17017
Introducing Cortana Collections: Cortana now saves you time and stress by noticing and remembering things for you and putting them at your fingertips. Cortana can gather things you?re interested in such as items you shop for, restaurants, recipes, and books you?d like to check out, movies and TV shows you want to watch ? and puts them all into neatly organized lists from which you can pick the ones you like best. Cortana is always learning, so the more you let Cortana help you, the more Cortana does for you. Check out the quest we?ve set up for more info on how to try this out and let us know what you think! Hi everyone,

Today we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10586 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. This build is really focused on bug fixes and general improvements. We?ve been loving this build in our internal rings as it is very fast and smooth, and makes a great daily driver.

Here are some things we have fixed:

The issue where any audio playing (like music from Groove, or videos from the Movies & TV app) gets reduced by 75% for a period of time after a notification pops up from Action Center is fixed.
Pressing the power button on your Surface Pro 3 should put your Surface Pro 3 to sleep instead of shutting it down.
We fixed an issue reported by Windows Insiders where a disksnapshot.exe command prompt window would flash randomly.
Windows should now remember your previous login type. For example, if you log in with a PIN ? it will prompt you for a PIN next time instead of another type.
We fixed an issue where Tab previews in Microsoft Edge were appearing as black if the page was not scrolled to the top, and web note clippings were also appearing as black.
Small form-factor devices, like the Dell Venue 8 Pro, that boot with rotation or virtual mode screen size set larger than the physical screen size should no longer experience a bluescreen on upgrade.
Apps and games should download from the Store more reliably.

Addresses you save will be roamed between your Windows 10 devices, and you can manually add or remove form entries in Advanced Settings.

Text Spacing comes to Reading View: Much like when reading an EPUB book, you can now adjust the text spacing when you?re in Reading View. To enter Reading View, open an article or blog post you?re interested in, then tap the book icon next to the address bar. Adjusting the page to use wider spacing can improve reading fluency.

Hi everyone, we have a new build for PCs we?re releasing today to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring ? Build 10166. Just like the 3 builds we released last week, this build is all about bug fixing and fit-and-finish. Be sure to keep using the Windows Feedback app to send us feedback on any problems you?re hitting to help us make sure Windows 10 is awesome when we release it on July 29th!

We also have something for you to try out if you live in the Seattle area. With Windows 10, we are giving people the ability to purchase paid Wi-Fi through the Windows Store via the Microsoft Wi-Fi app. You will know when you can purchase Wi-Fi when you see ?Buy Wi-Fi from Windows Store? in your list of networks when clicking on the network icon on the lower right in the Taskbar. The Microsoft Wi-Fi app provides the choice to pay with a Credit or Debit Card, a Microsoft Gift Card, or PayPal and it helps keep your information secure since it uses the Windows Store payment system. Completing the purchase is simple as there is no need to enter additional personal or payment information if you?ve already registered in Windows Store. Right now, we?re testing this experience out in Seattle but it?ll soon open up to the rest of the U.S.

I have created this topic for the discussion of build 10122.

Who has upgraded to build 10122 and what are your opinions of this build? Pros or cons.

Bruce.

A:Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10122 Discussion

Ah we've all been waiting for another build and well its here! And yes I'm going to review this here and now so let's review it.

It's OK looks great and polished I don't mind it at all since Microsoft is finishing bits and pieces off it's shiny new OS. The start menu looks great, and the theme looks great! Microsoft also has stabilized the OS a lot since 10074 as it even fixed the annoying issue with the Nvidia Drivers. Actually a lot of you would recommend this as a stable Build or not any other way it's great.

 List of fixed issues:
1. Visual Glitch (Rectangle Silvers)

2. Fixed lots of glitches with Microsoft

3. Developers – when you go to Settings > Update & Security > For developers – it no longer crashes the Settings app.

4. We fixed the issue some people were seeing where their graphics driver fails to install from Windows Update with error code 80070103. This was happening because WU was trying to re-issue the driver.

5.You should now be able to edit the IPv4 properties of an Ethernet adapter on your PC.

6.We have fixed issues where fonts would render blurry on High DPI displays. We’re cooking up a blog post we plan to publish shortly that talks a little more in depth about our investment with High DPI in Windows 10 so watch for it.

7.We have fixed some keyboard shortcuts in Microsoft Edge. Control + L or Alt + D shortcuts now got to the URL bar more reliably.

Hello Windows Insiders!

Today, we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17110 (RS4) to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring.

What?s new in Build 17110

Improvements for Enterprise Customers in RS4
Enterprises can now run custom actions during feature update: In RS4, we are adding a new feature that will enable your enterprise to run your own custom actions/scripts synchronously with setup. Setup will execute custom actions during two update phases controlled by using preinstall.cmd or precommit.cmd:
Pre-install: This would be just before all the system and device compatibility scans run.
Pre-commit: This would be just before the system reboots into the offline phase.

Setup also migrates the scripts for future updates. In the event of an update failure or rollback, a failure.cmd script can be used to perform custom operations or undo actions of previous custom scripts.

Run (Migrate):
C:WindowsSystem32updaterun<GUID>preinstall.cmd
C:WindowsSystem32updaterun<GUID>precommit.cmd
C:WindowsSystem32updaterun<GUID>failure.cmd
C:WindowsSystem32updaterun<GUID>reflectdriversfoo.inf
C:WindowsSystem32updaterun<GUID>reflectdriversfoo.sys

Hi everyone,

We?re rolling out Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 10549 right now to Windows Insiders on the Fast ring. However, this build comes with a caveat. We discovered a bug late last night that caused phones upgrading from Build 10536 to get stuck at a black screen after this new build is installed. Rather than making you wait a little bit longer for us to fix this bug ? we decided to release this build as a single update from Windows Phone 8.1. Current Insiders that would like to try out Build 10549 should:
Go back to Windows 8.1 first using the Windows Device Recovery Tool.
Once you?re on Windows Phone 8.1, install the Windows Insider app, choose the Fast ring, and reboot your phone.
After that ? this build should download and install on your phone.

Hi everyone,

Today we are rolling out Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 10581 to Windows Insiders on the Fast ring. We?ve fixed the bug preventing upgrades from earlier builds. So if you stayed on Build 10536 or if you flashed back to Windows Phone 8.1 and then installed 10549 or 10572 you can upgrade directly to this new build without going back to 8.1 again. This build doesn?t have significant new features but does include a bunch of good fixes and general performance improvements.

Hi everyone,
It has been amazing to see the impact that Windows Insiders have made since we launched the program last year. Your feedback has helped us fix bugs and make changes which resulted in a better product because of your input. Thank you to all of the Windows Insiders who have been with us so far. Now I?d like to talk a bit about what is next.

With the general availability of Windows 10, the Windows Insider Program will focus on building and delivering Windows as a service by updating Windows 10 with new features and functionality on an ongoing basis. As always, Windows Insiders will be the first to see these new features and changes.

Feedback from Windows Insiders not only helps us build Windows 10 ? it also helps us shape how we run the program. For example, Windows Insiders have asked us to improve the flighting cadence and to keep the Windows Feedback app in the product ? which we have done. We?re also evaluating the Windows Insider rings, and considering whether we should make changes there. Over the past few months we?ve been looking at feedback to see what changes we want to make going forward. We?re putting plans together now, so you won?t see any changes immediately, but they will come over time. We?ll be doing our best to make sure that we improve every aspect of the program, from build distribution to the Feedback app and Insider Hub. And of course we?ll be looking to do more fun things for Windows Insider... Read more
