Firefox [moved to Firefox forum]

Q: Firefox [moved to Firefox forum]

Hello all,

I have Firefox as my browser and Yahoo as my search engine. No matter how many updates, add-ons etc I use from Mozilla re: Adobe Flash player, Firefox continues to block Flash.

My question is, what can I use as a substitute to Flash and how do I install it to work on my browser
Thanks,

Preferred Solution: Firefox [moved to Firefox forum]

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Firefox has been freezing up on me, and when I close it down, I get a bluescreen error. It also happens a lot of the time when I close Firefox down normally. This was happening before I updated to the latest version of FF. I am running Windows XP, and have recently started using ZoneAlarm and Avast on my system.

A:Firefox closes = bluescreen error? (Moved for the mozilla/Firefox Forum)

Hi,

Can you give us the error in full that you are getting. Also, I would check and make sure that ZoneAlarm and Avast are allowing FF to connect to the internet.

Cheers!

Your Bookmarks, and anything else you chose to setup in sync, to save are sitting in your Sync Account. You login to your account, from any added devices you also setup.

I set up Firefox Sync Bookmarks on my PC where and how do I get my Bookmarks which are being synced and saved ?

A:Firefox Sync Bookmarks? (Moved from Windows 10 forum)

The purpose of the Firefox sync feature is to allow another device (PC - Phone - etc) that has Firefox installed the ability to sync the bookmarks, history etc to itself. For example. I have a Desktop PC, A laptop PC and a Android Smart Phone. Each of these devices have FireFox installed. Each of the devices are sync'd together. So if I save a bookmark on my PC, I can then use Firefox on my Smart phone and the bookmark will appear there and can be used by FireFox.

Its not really a backup. It just makes what ever your syncing available on all devices that use FireFox.

I don't know if my problem is Firefox or WordPress but I thought I'd try here first.
I use WordPress to publish articles and usually copy and paste from the finished article in the Articles forum to WordPress but since I reinstalled Win 7 this no longer works as paste is no longer an option when I right click in WordPress, or at least in the particular part that I need it to. I can, however, do it in Internet Explorer, but images aren't copied over, which they used to be. I've tried all the usual things like clearing the cache, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

A:Is this Win 7 or Firefox at fault? Moved from Mozilla/Firefox browsers

Hi,
I am using Win-7 too but I haven't used IE. So my suggestion is to, try another browser for the same purpose and then see the effects (I feel firefox is well suited for the purpose). If you are getting same problems then, you are missing with some features of Win-7 otherwise, it is the website issue.

Hi all,
I have a really urgent and really wierd problem.
I have been reading and posting on this forum for a while now.. probably 2 months?
All of a sudden, starting yesterday, when I try to browse here to this forum, IE and Firefox both tell me they can't find this site.
If fact, it takes me to a site with a similiar name.. vista64.com with no x.
This only happens with this forum and one other and only from home on this computer.
I can browse all over the place on the internet without a problem. I have no problem browsing here from work.
I have made no changes or updates on the computer within the last 48 hours.
I downloaded the latest IE security update from Windows this morning which allowed me here for one session and then went back to telling me the site didn't exist.
Windows Defender full scan says all clear, Norton says all clear.
I have also cleared my cache on both browsers and cookies as well.

The only reason I got here now is because I accessed a cached site on a google search, which sometimes works and sometimes not.

Hi,
I posted yesterday morning and didn't receive any replies so I thought might be in the wrong forum. Or I hadn't explained the problem. Correctly. I don't think it is just a browser problem because other programs cause crashes. Here is a shorter version of what I posted yesterday.

Hi,
I am having problems with Firefox 3.5 crashing, and sometimes crashing XP. Usually it happens when watching some sort of video - BBC iPlayer (online TV programs), videos on YOuTube, music on MySpace. But at other times when Firefox is idle-I may be working on a document or playing Solitaire or have left the room. Firefox will crash and occasionally take the PC with it. It never occured in Firefox 3.0.x. And doesn't happen on the other machine in our house which has 3.0.

I have visited the Firefox forums and have tried safe mode, disabling Add Ons, Themes (don't have any). Nothing seemed to work. I did a search of Elder Geek forums and in the only post I found that mentioned Firefox and iPlayer the solution offered suggested uninstalling Google toolbars and Google desktop. I have none of these.

I have tried Chrome and IE. It would not play 'iPlayer' or 'Channel 4on Demand' (another UK TV streaming) programs without crashing someplace during the program. When the crash occured in Chorme it said the problem was with Shockwave Flash. I had the latest version of Flash but following the Adobe website instructions I uninstalled and reinstalled the la... IP Board 2.2.2 2008 forum software

Since I installed the latest Firefox update that came out recently I have had problems with the forum software. I have checked in IE, Opera and Safari and all is OK so it has to be Firefox that is the problem.

What happens is I open the site and the site is full-screen width. I click on a forum category and the view is about 3/4 screen width. I then click on a topic and it reduces further to about 1/4 screen width. I go back to the main page and it is once again full-screen width. If I click on another forum, it goes back to 3/4 size. This is driving me mad. I have made no changes to anything on the computer lately except the latest Firefox update.

Is anyone familiar with forum-type software and can point me in the right direction for correcting this?

Thanks!

Firstly what happens when she tries to embolden text etc?

Okay, all i can suggest now (i need more info but from guessing i can suggest a few things), go into Tools->Options->contents tab
and make sure that the "enable javascript" checkbox is checked, the "enable java" box shouldn't need to be checked, (java has nothing to do with this, javascript however sounds as if its the problem[ java is not javascript])
Click on the advanced button to the right and check the boxes that enable things there aswell (if you think they're needed)

Hope i helped,

I have a Dell Optiplex running Windows XP Pro SP3, running Symantec Endpoint Protection, and I have the most up-to-date windows updates, and IE and Firefox browsers.

The browsers are my problem. They both will work for a little bit and then crash. Not just one crash but 4-10 times in the span of a few minutes, on all types of sites (facebook, google searches, yahoo mail, ebay, etc). I?m pretty much on my last nerve and very frustrated with this problem. It has been going on for about a week now.

Don't know if anyone can help, but hope someone can offer suggestion.

I have a website and the index page has a 'drop-down' menu (for various pages on the site) where visitors can click and go to other pages on the site.

When I view the INDEX page in IE6, the 'drop-down' menu appears in the center of the page, where we want it to appear.

However, when we view the INDEX page in Firefox, the 'drop-down' menu appears on the left side of the page.

Would anyone know what we might have to do (correct) to make the 'drop-down' menu on the INDEX page appear in the center of page when viewed on Firefox?

Here is the beginning part of the HTML for the 'drop-down' menu:

<P ALIGN=CENTER>
<SCRIPT language=JavaScript>
function formHandler(){
var URL = document.form.mysites.options
[document.form.mysites.selectedIndex].value;
parent.location.href = URL;

A:Viewing in Firefox vs IE6 [moved to Web Design]

We need to see the site to work out problems such as these.

At a glance of the snippet of code you have provided, I would guess its to do with firefox's defualt values compared to IE. Using <p> tags for a layout element such as a menu isn't a great idea.

If you show us the site I can do some tests and try to find the problem.

Hi
In response to Dan's (dtae) posting entitled "sponsored links" on left in Firefox" I too have just got this infuriating problem.
The sponsored links on the left are not solely Google related nor it would seem solely Firefox related!!!
In Firefox the left links are present in a Google or Yahoo search.
They are not present when using IE or Safari.
However, they are also NOT present in Firefox when using the Google related search 'Locate Me'.
I have also run 'CustomizeGoogle' in Firefox and this does not touch these particular links.
I have run various malware scans and nothing has been thrown up. Nor has my constantly running PCGuard found anything!
I will keep an eye on Dan's posting and hope the above info will help.

A:IE7 freezes on loading yahoo.com, but not firefox [Moved from IE]

Well I went into safe mode and loaded the site up just fine, then in IE7-it just finally loaded up.(that was a couple days ago).
But now sometimes I'll find a few random sites where it freezes up in IE7 and when I go into safe mode and load it up, it seems to fix it in Normal mode.

PC World.com, also gave me that. And a link inside PC world, did the same thing. Then I went into Safe mode again, then normal mode again and that loaded, from being froze too.

Thing is I keep finding sites where it will freeze on me, but I've been using my parents IE7 as well on those same site and their browser never froze once, and this computer has been infected before once (their computer), but my computer is CLEAN. I even have uniblue registry booster to scan my computer as well (note that I put this on after having these IE7 problems).

I have also reformatted my hard drive, just 12 hours after my first post, but this problem came back. I'm really clueless as to what's going on, or if I happen to have a very stealthy virus (have 2 anti-viruses, 1 anti-spyware program running on my computer all the time). Help Me!

In order to assist you, we need some additional information.

What is your operating system: Windows XP, Vista, etc.?

What security programs do you have installed?

What alerted you to the presence of yoog?

What symptoms does your computer exhibit: pop-ups, redirections, etc.? Please be as specific as you can.

I see this on my XP laptop from time to time. The scrollbars jiggle around and won't stay still, making it annoying to try to read a page that is going up and down. It eventually settles down after awhile.

Is this definitely a symptom of infection? I scan the hell out of this thing. I have McAfee anti-virus and anti-spyware on it fully updated and scanning 3 times a week, and also scan using BitDefender and TrendMicro online scans now and again (each once within past 2 wks). And further, I also scan from time to time using updated Ad-Aware, Spybot, SuperAntiSpyware, SpywareDoctor.

Is the occassional jigglyness normal? Does it happen on clean machines? If so, I won't worry. For the moment, I worry a bit.

Any info very appreciated.

Thanks

A:Jiggly scrollbars in IE and Firefox -- a symptom or not?[Moved from Gen Sec]

Hi

Is it the scrollbars or is it your mouse? I'm not immediately aware of an infection that will cause those symptoms, but it's still a possibility. However, I would check things like your OS - is it patched up to date, are all your hardware drivers up to date, any errors showing up in Event Viewer, that kind of thing.

Dear BleepingComputer folk,

My laptop is running Firefox 40.0.3 under Windows 8.1 (64-bit).

The Problem

Two nights ago my browser (then Firefox 40.0.2) started opening some webpages extremely slowly, simply refusing to open others and producing a "This document has been moved here" message for others (see below screenshot - the link would appear to go to whatever I searched for, but I never clicked it).

These various problems were affecting familiar websites that I have bookmarked and regularly open, such as Facebook.  This seemed to be in some way related to the cache, as it was not affecting new URLs that I had not visited previously during that browsing session.

Hello,

I have been having some issues for the last couple of days with my computer.  I first experienced trouble with Firefox while watch a simple Twitch Stream.  For no reason (as the computer was completely idle save the stream) I received a message saying Shockwave Player (or some script on the page) stopped responding.  The popup gave me the option to wait for the script to respond, or to kill it.  I attempted to kill it, by opening up Task Manager.  This took maybe 3 minutes to open up, while in the process hung my entire system the whole time, and then led to Firefox itself to completely lock up.  As well, when attempting to open up Task Manager in the first place, if at first the window did not show up I would attempt to open it again.  The first time by using the Ctrl, Shift, Escape combination, and when that was unsuccessful (as it normally pops up instantly), I would thusly right click the taskbar to open it that way.  By doing this method it would take minutes for the popup from the taskbar itself to showup.  After finally getting Task Manager open, I would see two different Task Manager processes.  One at roughly 4k kilobytes of memory, while the other ~100.  As someone with a tiny bit of OCD I would close the smaller kilobyte one by right clicking it to kill the process from the popup menu.  Right clicking the process would give me no window, nor would hitting kill process from the tab on the Task... I have been trying to find help from different compter help forums but it seems that I can not get any help with my problems. I was told to just reformat my pc. I do not think this is a maleware issue as I have already been through all the clean ups. It seems that my pc is free of viruses and spyware. Either way here is the main issues that is going on with my computer which I really would like help on. Let's begin with the windows update. I have 2 windows update that wants me to update I.E. to it's latest version. However, I am unable to do that for some reason. The error it gives me is it failed to update. I have tried uinstalling I.e. but it won't allow me to. I have tired reinstalling it but it won't allow me to. I have tried deleting it from the main directly but that did not work. I do not use I.e. but the fact that my pc has to restart to update this is getting a bit annoying. So I would like a way to fix this if possible. Once again I already tried uinstalling it, hiding i.e update, and reinstalling i.e. Nothing seems to work.

If it does come to reloading the system you can borrow a copy of Vista from friend, unfortunately MS does not supply any ISO's on Digital River.  One very important thing you must use the same version of Vista, also look over the computers box for Microsoft COA sticker with the serial number on it you must have that.  Get the info ahead of time, right my computer it will show your version. It is possible that you may not have to go through that if the machine has a recovery partition, you would need to look on the makers site.

For my job I am required to sometimes go to 'suspect websites' and normally Norton will catch anything before it even has a chance to download. Sadly, two weeks ago I did download a file called Trojan.Gen (or at least that is what Norton called it). Almost immediately Norton caught and removed all threats but I knew I wasn't going to get off that easy.

For a few days everything seemed fine but shortly after I started seeing attack messages from Norton from \device\harddiskvolume1\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe, the IP and web address changes.

I couldn't tell if it was doing anything to my computer and have since been trying to remove it with no luck with Norton. Now, my web pages are being redirected to either a fake search page or a Pay Per Click page, if I click a link in Google.

Norton and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Free are telling me that they are not detecting anything.

I did read the preparation guide, so I hope I have all the information that is needed.

I want to thank you in advance for any help that I can get and I understand that this is a process. I appreciate your time!
