Preferred Solution: ThinkPad T410 boot to black screen.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Thinkpad T410 (BiOS seems to have been made in 2011) and for about half a month, I haven't switched it off very often. So this morning, I put it on sleep  and brought it to class, but when I lifted the cover, the usual 1~2 second wake-up screen did not pop up, in fact, it took roughly 30 SECONDS before anything showed up on the screen.I got back and tried shutting the thing down, and restarting, but the thing took roughly 30 seconds to show me the BOOT screen (with the Thinkpad icon). When I pressed the Power button, it lit up properly, and the battery icon was on too, but it just sits there for 30-ish seconds, before even showing me life on the screen. After the 30 second wait for the Boot screen (whether from sleep or starting up), everything works fine, I'm brought to my start screen at normal speed.I've given that sketchy (cuz it hasn't worked for me) "static discharge" Power Button trick two tries after disconnecting the battery, wires and ac adapters, but doesn't change the 30 second wait before the screen shows anything. Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on? At the start of last month, my computer did NOT have this problem, I've only had this problem happen to me today. Is it the age? Or....

Yesterday I powered on my SL510 with no problem and when I went to shutdown there was a windows update but I accidentally clicked the power button to shut it down. Now when I try to boot I just get a black screen. The battery and power lights both turn on when I try to boot but nothing on the screen. The fan turns on, I hear the DVD drive turn, as well as the HDD. I tried unplugging the battery and wall adapter and held the power button for 30 seconds - 1 minute to discharge it but it still won't boot. I don't hear any beeps from the motherboard. I tried looking up the solution but as I can't find anything I am led to make this post. If anyone has any ideas as to what could be the solution please let me know, thank you.

Hi, my Lenovo T410 laptop won't start. I hit the power button and it looks like it's about to boot up. The thinklight blinks on as normal, the cd drive is checked, the caps lock button blinks on, then nothing. No display, and keyboard is unresponsive. Power light remains on; if I leave it a while the fan comes on. I can turn the machine off using the power button, but the problem remains next time I switch it on. I've tried removing power and battery, pressing power button 10 times then holding power for 30 secs, before replacing power and battery, but nothing happens. I've tried using a different keyboard. I've tried plugging in an external monitor. No change.  This problem appeared after I left it on overnight. I have a hunch that it went into hybernation mode, perhaps, and that it disrupted some important function which it was unable to complete. Not sure though. Any help gratefully received. Many thanks,Pete

Dear Gents I intend to buy T410 as second hand but I need it for my work and install there wmare with lot of virtual machines. I need at least 16 GB RAM memory. Based on specification here is supported only 8 GB! Why????Is this correct or it is constraint of montherboard chipset? https://support.lenovo.com/be/en/solutions/migr-75387 Any advice would be highly welcomed. Should not supported more than 8GB RAM which Thinkpad can support more than 16GB RAM? Thanks Regards Andrej

Hi everyone,
Need a new laptop for my computer science degree, considered quite a few. Was just wondering if anyone has an oppinion on the Lenovo ThinkPad T410 2516, I would upgrade it as follows:
i5-460m processor
windows 7 home premium 64
3/4GB RAM
320GB 7200rpm hard drive
9 cell battery
Anyone think i should upgrade it differently, I'd like to get it a little cheaper so where if anywhere should i make the cuts in upgrades?
Has anyone got this laptop? is it particularly heavy to carry around?

A:What do you think of the Lenovo ThinkPad T410?

what the difference in 3 and 4GB memory - i would not expect you to use that amount of memory unless you are using some special heavy memory programs

what other choice of CPUs do you have

A:ThinkPad hangs on boot - stuck at Thinkpad screen

You might have damaged the power circuitry on the motherboard.  If that is the case, the only solution is to replace the board.  There is an array of power transistors that handles the switching back and forth between AC and battery.

Hello there,I wanted to get all my data from my old Thinkpad T410, so I took out the SSD which was installed in it and connected it to my newer Computer. The problem is that my new bought Computer did not recognize the drive at all, so I tested the drive externally on my Thinkpad and this doesn't recognize it either nor will it boot from it when it is connected via USB. I tested the drive on Windows, Linux and MacOS, there are no problems with my external connector, my Thinkpad boots without problems from other USB-Drives and the drives work internally without any problems. On Linux, the drives are detected but not mountable and not formatable... I hope someone has an answer to this problem

If I plug it in and don't use it, it will charge just fine until it's fully charged and then I have to unplug it to use it. Hi,I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T410 laptop (Product number: 2522AA9, BIOS: 6IET85WW (1.45) ). A glass of water was poured on the laptop and it fellt down from desk. Motherboard was damaged I bought a motherboard installed and it worked. I realized that WiFi card was also damaged as it fellt down. I bought exact the same model (If I recall correctly it is Intel WiFi card) but I am getting 1802 Error: Unauthorized network card at boot. I searched for this problem a lot and found some pages that explain how to fix it. No method worked for me. One of the solutions is that, there is a no1802.iso file it must be burnt onto a CD but I don't have any CD/DVD Burner. So I created a bootable USB stick with this iso file and booted laptop from USB stick but it didn't help. The problem is still there. How can I solve this problem? Thanks.

A:Thinkpad T410 and Error 1802

The "no1802" utility was only for much older machines.  It won't work for you.

The same model isn't enough.  You need one with a Lenovo FRU on it.  The same card can have different firmware on it.  When Lenovo or another manufacturer gets a machine approved for sale, they need FCC certification regarding emission levels in U.S. and other similar things in other countries.  The FCC certification is for a particular model computer and the wireless card(s) that were tested with it including the firmware tested.  You probably bought a card that was certified for use in a didderent manufacturer's computer.

I have a brand new T410 (less than a week old) and I have been having problems with it. When I first got it, right out of the box I would get a "windows does not recognize one of your usb devices" message, and when I went to device manager "unknown device" was the issue. So I uninstalled it, and I thought that was that. A couple days later, I started getting BSoDs with the error code "BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER". I have gotten a bunch since then (I would guess around 10) and they seem to happen fairly randomly; I haven't been able to pick up a pattern. Here's some basic system information:

OS- Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit. Came pre-installed. I have not reinstalled it.
Like I said, my computer is less than a week old. Well, it shipped out of Lenovo's warehouse on june 21st, but it arrived around july 6th or 7th.
I have an intel graphics media accelerator HD (not sure if that's the name of the video card or not?)

Anyways, any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have recently been having some trouble with my ThinkPad T410. For the past 2 months, sometimes (but not every time) when I switch it on, I just get a black screen. I turn it off and on again, and then it starts up. However, last week when this happened, I turned it off and on again, and the start up lights began flashing on and off, and I could hear it whirring each time the lights flashed, but it couldn't fully start up. (It felt similar to when a car won't start, when the ignition doesn't catch.) I took it to the local computer shop and they have said that the motherboard is broken. Does this sound right? Has anybody else had these symptoms? And if this does seem like the right diagnosis, how do I ensure that the motherboard doesn't break on my next laptop (is it something I've done, like using it on my lap instead of a table?!)? I would be grateful for any thoughts on this. Thanks, Lucy

A:ThinkPad T410 motherboard broken?

I think that computer repair places ALWAYS say that the motherboard is broken.  Your machine is 6 years old, and, eventually, something does break and it may be nobody's fault.  There are lots of pieces and other ones can cause your symptoms.  I always like to test the memory and the hard drive..  I would run CrystalDiskInfo (freeware) and see what it thinks about your hard drive.

What operating system are you running?  If windows 10, open the Start menu, type ?Windows Memory Diagnostic?, and press Enter.

If windows 7, Click Start, type mdsched.exe in the Search box, and then press Enter

Hi guys and/or girls, I am working on upgrading a business laptop which happens to be the Lenovo Thinkpad T410, now im putting an 250GB 850 Evo to replace the INSANELY SLOW HDD, however i am also upgrading the system from windows 7 and upgrading the RAM, now here is where i need help, I am going to be installing a 2x4GB kit of Corsair Vengence SODIMM, however I am unsure whether i should go for the DDR3 1600 kit or the DDR3L 2133 kit, now these are both the same price so the obvious pick would be the DDR3L due to the lower power draw and higher frequency, but the current memory installeld is only 1333, however the laptop is documented to work with 1600 so i know this isn't a problem, however I am unsure if it would even correctly downclock the 2133 or would it simply refuse to post, as well as this, would the laptop still attempt to send 1.5v to the memory or will it automatically do 1.35v as required by the DDR3L, oh how i do wish laptops all offered an "advanced" section within the BIOS which would allow me to tweak all of this stuff, however the only thing the bios lets me do with memory is set an extended mem test during boot which obviously is no help.  Thanks for your help

About two weeks ago, I began getting BSODs on a 9 month old ThinkPad T410 running Win Professional 7x64, OEM. This is the original install of the OS, and there have been no recent hardware changes. Prior to this issue, the machine has performed without any failures.

Thanks very much for your assistance.

Hi Issue: Thinkpad X1 Carbon 5th Gen black screen / 'screen off' on resume from sleep I know this issue has been posted about several times regarding the X1 series but .... none of those threads seem to have any kind of answer to this problem. This seems like quite a horrendous issue for a +Ģ1500 to have !! Constantly 'hard rebooting' and losing all my open work is seriously seriously annoying. Please note: My drivers are 100% up to date based on Lenovo's own update software. I have all official Windows 10 updates issued to date (21 aug 17). These are the patterns I've noticed: - It doesn't always replicate the same behaviour: after resume from sleep sometimes it's 'black' and other times it's fine. I'd say 66% of the 'lid openings' it's OK but 33% of cases it's not.- I've found that if I shut the lid again and reopen (often 3 or more times and waiting 30+ seconds on each open then 30+ seconds on each close) then I can eventually 'force' it to turn the screen on.- If I 'manually' set the unit to sleep from the start menu rather than just closing the lid, I'm pretty certain that it *does not* exhibit this problem. I'll be 100% certain once I've tried this a few more times.-  I've removed all USB devices from the laptop one-by-one and waited for the problem to reoccur thus ruling out any single or combination of USB devices.- I have the 'lock screen' shown when it does successfully resume from sleep. - The screen 'blackness' looks t... I have a T410 with Windows 7 Professional which Microsoft invited to upgrade to Win 10. In "preparing" the computer for Win 10 a message indicated that some functions would not work. I did not realize that in taking the next step (whateve that was at the time) it would gto ahead with the upgrade. I found that the offer to choose "when" to upgrade was a choice of three different pre-assigned days. I had to turn off the computer to stop the upgrade, there was no other way (I tried Task Manager, Process Explorer, Alt F4, etc.). Now it is just reserved and waiting. My concerns are:      -will an upgrade result in a Windows 10 "Professional"? or will distinctions between "Home" and "Profesional" be lost?     -the preparation process indicated that Intel PROSet/ Wireless would have to be re-installed. As best as I can understand from the Intel site the wireless adaptor | Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN | in the T410 is not supported in Win 10. The Intel site said to go to the manufacturer. Will Lenovo have an update for this?     -Intel PROSet/Wireless may not be critical to me but a wireless driver will be. Will the T410 wireless function still function? Has anyone had experience with the T410 moving to Win 10? Thanks.

I upgraded my Lenovo Thinkpad T410 from 4GB to 8GB RAM a while ago. The new memory seems to work without a problem, but the battery has started acting up.

Sometimes the laptop won't start unless the charger is plugged in, even though the battery monitor says 98% full after starting. If the charger is pulled off after this, the laptop shuts down instantly.

Sometimes the computer does start without the charger plugged in, but it might randomly shutdown at some point, again instantly as if the battery had been removed while running.

Could this be somehow caused by the RAM upgrade? Or is it more likely the battery or the connection between the battery and the laptop is broken?

Specs:
Lenovo T410
Windows 7 / Ubuntu 16.04 dual boot
Intel i7 M620
Intel Ironlake Mobile graphics

I really need some help...  I've been using Thinkpad T410 for a year but it's strange these days. The operating system is Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.A blue screen randomly appears shortly after boot, and after reboot there is a black screen error. It's 'error 2100 Hard drive intiallization error (3)' Then I pressed esc and I was still unable to boot. However when I reboot again, it can successfully boot into Windows 10.Then it's a loop, the whole thing happens again soon after it...It all started since I installed an online game. The installation failed thirteen times and the blue screen appeared later. The game had no virus or malware and I uninstalled it already. I've searched some solutions on google, but they don't seem to work for me...The blue screen problem is still there. It usually appears when I ignore the computer for a while and during software installations, there were freezes before it occurs but I've no idea why. Hello, I'm new here and I was hoping that someone could help me with my laptop.I have a IBM Lenovo T410, that was working very well with Windows 7 Professional, including the Touchpad and Trackpoint. Meanwhile, the hard drive got broke down and I decided to replace him with a SSD and upgraded SO to Windows 10, and then the problems became with Touchpad and Trackpoint. I already installed all the drives that I have found on Internet and on Lenovo forums and support pages but none works. Every time that I go to Control Panel > Mouse I get an error that tells me that there is a problem with Synaptics device, telling me to uninstall and reboot. Meanwhile, I installed windows 8.1 Pro, guessing that it could have some incompatibility with Windows 10, but the problem remains the same. Can anyone help me with this? How can I solve the problem? Where can I find the right drivers for my device?Thank you very much!

Hello,
I am having trouble getting the built-in wireless adapter on this laptop to get connected to the internet. I have installed the following driver:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/migr-73611
but have had no luck. there are no available wireless connections I can connect to.
I have also tried to use USB wireless adapter TP-LINK TL-WN725N to connect to internet. It is able to find available connections but when it tries to connect it says unable to connect and give options to troubleshoot. Once troubleshoot is complete it says to investigate router or access point issues. I have reset the router many times. Other devices are working fine with the internet just not this laptop.
I am running windows 7 64Bit.
Please help.
Thanks

Can you connect the laptop to the router using a cable at all ?

using just the laptop wireless adapter
unlikely to be this as it is reporting NO networks available - but check anyway please
Check the wireless is switched ON
theres often a physical switch or a combination of the FN and one of the F keys to toggle the wireless on/off
often F2 is used - but note , not always - look for a symbol that looks a little like (( i ))

is the wireless on?

can we see an ipconfig /all - see how below
do a tcp/ip reset - see how below
post a screen shot of xirrus please - see how below

------------------------------------------------------------------------

ipconfig /all

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply
Note: you will see entries named Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface: we dont need to see that information - JUST the information above ... Read more

At the risk of turning my still active and sturdy T410 laptop into a rogue bot, I have been searching for the update to the i5 chipset to block the security issues raised by INTEL a few weeks ago. Oddly, (or maybe due to the 'vintage') LENOVO support for the T410 seems to have been dropped. Would think LENOVO would want to keep their name off of the 'machines that create havoc' list by providing, at a minimum, the patch that INTEL has created for most of it's families of processors. Help, anyone?

I have a Thinkpad 600 which had Windows 98 SE on it, with a 6.4GB hard drive. I wanted to upgrade to XP, nad everything was going along fine. Then the computer stopped responding, so I re-started it. Now after the Thinkpad startup screen, all I get is a black screen with a white cursor(?) in the upper left hand corner. And I cannot go any further. Any ideas on what I can do. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,I changed the Harddisk at my T410 and Re-Installed Windows 10.Everyting works fine but I have no Wifi at all. Itīs not even displayed as possible network.I did the following myself to find the problem: - Checked the BIOS - Ensure that the drivers are the latest- Did run Lenovo System Update  The network card is a Qualcomm Gobi2000Thanks in advance for your helpRegards,Thorsten

A:No Wifi after Re-Install of Windows 10 at my Lenovo ThinkPad T410

Hello and welcome,

I believe that Gobi card is a WWAN card, not the wifi card.  Have a look around Device Manager for a wifi card - maybe as an unknown device.

Also make sure the switch (on the left front?) is turned on
