Swaping screens on x230t and x220t

Q: Swaping screens on x230t and x220t

HiI recently bought a lenovo thinkpad x230 tablet from ebay, but unfortunetly it doesn't have finger touch capability, only the stylus works.I have tried to find a replacement screen but unfortunetly I coudn't find any in Egypt. However I am able to find many x220 tablets with finger touch capabilty and pen stylus. Is it possible to exchange screens between x220 tablet and x230 tablet?I think both laptop are pretty identical except for the integrated graphics onboard.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

HI
I have 2 pc with windows xp home sp2 on both.

For you info:

*PC1= gaming pc
*PC2= 2nd pc (not gaming)
*HDD "A"= ST3100011A Capacity:93.1GB, Used:22.1GB, Free:70.9GB, file system: NTFS
*HDD "B"= Maxtor 53073H6 Capacity:28.6GB, Used:22.4GB, Free:6.15GB,
file system: NTFS
*Removable Disk (USB2.0)= Capacity:74.4GB, Used:5.3GB Free:69.1GB, file system: FAT32

Right now hdd "A" is in PC2 and hdd "B" is in PC1.

I want to put hdd "A" into PC1 and hdd "B" into PC2

but frist, I want to put all data that is on hdd "A" onto hdd "B" and put all data that is on hdd "B" on to hdd "A".

With the 3 disks that I have how can I do this without data loss, reactivation of windows, or a stop error?

A:swaping Hdd's

What you are going to have to do is a repair-install on each of the hard drives using the windows xp software and product ID codes for the respective computers to get the hard drives to work in the computer that the hard drive is in. As for transferring the data files around as long as you have a good backup made you should have no trouble.

hi i've had a slew of problems with my new computer

-i get blue screened and it says a warning message that isn't the same from the previous windows, you know hwo it normally said your system has become unstable and what not. this message says that there was an error and windows is shutting itself down to prevent further damage

-i get black screened(iduno if thats the term) but what happens is i'll be working on some files and then out of nowhere my monitor goes black, the computer and monitor stay on, but the monitor goes into some sort of standby mode thing where the power light flashes

-i also ocassionally have trouble rebooting one of my other computers and whenever it gives me a problem the screen goes black and there's a green line that goes across the top of the monitor

iv'e tried spy ware removing programs/anti viruses/fire walls none of them seem to be working

any help would be greatly apprecieated

A:Solved: blue screens black screens green screens

The issues sound a bit like a hardware failure, the blue STOP screen could be hardware or software.

The Black screen sounds like the PC has died, but the power supply continues to run. This could well be hardware.

Both issues could be something like overheating of the CPU (are all fans running, is the CPU fan dust clogged - shouldnt be if it's "new")?

If it's "new" and under warranty, take it back.

It would have helped to know if it was a desktop or laptop though.

Hi, awhile back I pulled my HD out of my main comp and put it into another. I used it like that for about a month or so and now I want to put it back into the computer it was originally in. When I turn the computer on it completes post succesfully then goes to the windows boot screen as normal. About the time when it normally is about to finnish booting windows the loading bar slows down and then I get a BSOD which oddly turns green then yellow, the loading bar is still visible moving through the BSOD. The computer then restarts. The BSOD is only visible for a split second. I know the HD works and I have booted into the comp I am moving to using Linux so I know my hardware is fine. I dunno if you guys need any specs for this problem but Im using an ASUS A8N32 mobo, a Samsung SP1604N 150BG HD, and a Geforce 7800Ko graphics card.

I feel like I've asked this question a couple of years ago here before but I went through my post history and couldn't find it, and don't remember if I ever got a solid answer.

Right now, I've got an ATi Phenom II X4 955 processor and a Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P motherboard.
I plan on buying an SSD and reinstalling Windows 7 on it; even later in the future, I plan on buying a new motherboard and an i7 Ivy Bridge processor. All of my current parts (ram, PSU, etc) will fit into the new motherboard and processor easily.

My question is that if with my current computer, I install windows 7 on an SSD, and then later swap out my motherboard and processor for a new one and hook that up to the SSD, will everything run fine?

Thanks

A:Swaping out Processors?

It more than likely won't boot with all the hardware changes.
Sometimes it is possible to run the upgrade install for windows 7,
then install the hardware drivers, but there are no guarantees there.
It would be better to just do a clean install.

Actually a format and reinstall is your best option. But you can do a repair install by booting from the XP CD and choosing repair. there is a guide here for how to do a repair install.

Hello,
I do have a small problem!
I just got a ssd 64gb from kingston (i don't know how good or bad they are,but it has some good reviews) and i am planing to test it on my laptop!
My problem is that after changing from hdd to ssd and test it...later on i want to put back my hdd.
Will my laptop still works as before taking out the hdd first time?
The ssd is ment to be for a desktop, that i don't have it with me at the time, but while i am waiting for the holiday,i am planing to see how a ssd is working.
Just keep it for a few days and after that back to normal hdd!As i don't have the fund for a bigger ssd...may be in a few months!
Best regards,
Wyzo

A:Swaping back from SSD to HDD

Provided you've changed nothing but the drive, and didn't alter the drive or put it in any other computers while it was out, you shouldn't have a problem.
Laptops are generally single boot device systems. So it should automatically seek the bootmgr on whatever drive happens to be plugged in.
Moving the data from the hdd to the ssd if you were planning on that is a little more complicated. For that I suggest installing on the ssd then just moving files you wanted to keep.

also make sure the laptop is unplugged AND the battery is removed when swapping parts.

A:Question About Swaping Hard Drives

you have good chances it will work. the only thing is the drivers installed on the drive. you will probably need to reinstall drivers to recognize the new hardware it needs to support. Unless it is autodetected by windows then you should be all set, but make sure you go to device manager and make sure everything is kosher in there.

I've actually never written to/on a forum, or forumized a single thought, in my 25+ as a computer tech/IT/developer/etc.. because I'm actually rather impatient, and ironically this time I DO need some help and I'm hoping for an insanely fast response (make that ...CORRECT response! - I don't want any "howz dat 4 fast, ...earl" nonsense!)

I customed a W7(HoPr) full machine about 6mos ago for a VIP-type customer of mine with plenty of decent equip (specs are coming...) and it kept him happy as could be. He has used it almost every day or two since then, only shutdown for updates which req RST/SHDN and was completely up to date w/win updates, as well as AVG, etc., and loved his machine's speed - and although absly NO OC-ing was used it can be and is encouraged by a few of the manufacturers (which would the the warrenter's who often loses $$ when you zap your computer by OC-ing incorrectly! Odd I thought!)

So I was in a hurry 'tween jobs to drop in a 1TB WD SATAII(300) of which I happen to I had surplus of at the time and sold him the HDD @ cost setup auto backups etc. and would come back in a few to move his virtual memory to incl his new drive exclusively, "never made it that far!"

I'm beginning with this link because it is related to this previous issue. Its still the same computer with the same general problems. However, I discovered that by ensuring that windows media player was constantly playing music, the computer operates fast and smoothly for as long as I need it to (sometimes longer than 24 hours), albeit with the fan running full speed and flooding the house with its noise. All has been well until the other day I needed to burn some cds and reconnected the cdrom. Since then, its been subject to occasional freezes, mostly when left to sit when I leave the house on a whim. I've noticed that I sometimes return to a black screen, but erroneously attributed it to my computers failed attempts to hibernate (even though that option is disabled). Anyway, its been working wonderfully anyway when I've needed to use it. However, today I was doing a little basic browsing, only about three tabs open of an automotive website I frequently read. The screen randomly went all white while loading a page, and the computer froze up. My only option when it does that is to do a hard restart, so I did. I decided to disconnect my cdrom again. The computer then booted up normally, showed my desktop and loaded all icons and everything, but before everything was up and running, the whole screen went black and it froze. Then I got this computers very first "blue ... Read more

Lets see the details of the Blue Screen, follow this guide to attach it to your next post.

First locate your minidump files, they are usually found by clicking on your C: drive, in Windows Explorer, then click on Windows to view the contents. If your operating system is installed under a different drive letter then look there. They should be stored under a file called minidump. The files will have a .dmp extension.
Zip up at least 6 of the most recent files into one zip folder and save on your desktop (if there are less then just zip up what you have).
NOTE To zip up a file in Windows (all versions). Right-click the file or folder, click on Send To, and then click Compressed (zipped) Folder and save it to your desktop.
Open Windows Explorer, click on Desktop in the left column so you can see the zip file. In the left column click on C: > Windows > Minidump and then drag & drop any additional .dmp files into the zip folder.

• Below the Message Box click on Go Advanced. Then scroll down until you see a button, Manage Attachments. Click on that and a new window opens.
• Click on the Browse button, find the zip folder you made earlier and doubleclick on it.

This is the 3rd time I've attempted a reinstall of Windows 7 x64 Pro on my T520 laptop with the same problem. Once the install is complete, there's absolutely NO support for a network connection - either LAN or WiFi. I've tried everything possible - downloading all the various appropriate network drivers and trying each one, installing the Lenovo Access Connections software, connecting with a wired cable directly to the LAN, checking the BIOS to see if WiFi adapter is disabled (doesn't give this option at all). I'm stumped and sitting here with a laptop that's pretty much useless unless I can figure this out. Previously, I've had to take it in and pay for a fix, but this is now getting silly. It was never a problem before. I've installed Windows operating systems dozens of times before and as long as I had the appropriate hardware and working network to connect to, the installation process would work just fine. Any help that could be offered would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks!JJ

Hello. My bluetooth works fine when streaming sound to a bluetooth speaker except for the following: If I have my right palm resting on the laptop, like you would if you were typing words, the sound cuts out completely. If I lift my palm off the surface, it works but it is not very comfortable or something you want to do for a long period of time. I tore it apart and noticed the bluetooth device is right below where the palm rests on the keyboard. I removed a screw and took out what I assume is an antenna and reseated it but that didn't make any difference. l doubt it is due to downward pressure as it feels pretty solid so I am guessing it is some type of electrical interference. This does not make sense because my hand is the new CyborgX RH80 model and it is certified to be free of this issue (unlike its predecessor model RH79). Any ideas on what is causing this issue and how to fix it?

Hello. I used a rescue disk to get my PC going again by reinstalling Windows 7 (boot sector issue I think). Wifi was not working at first but got it to work by reinstalling chip set update. I noticed the hard drive was half full with unusable junk so used the rescue disk to format the hard drive and then reinstalled Windows 7 once more. All is working fine but I cannot get the wifi working again even though I tried reinstalling the chip set. The radio button is on and its light shows up at bottom of monitor. It shows 2 network adaptors, like before: Intel Centrino Advanced N-205 and Intel 82579LM gigabit network. . Neither one has a yellow exclamation point next to it. I have tried disabling/enabling both with same result. Wired connnection works fine. Checked BIOS and WLAN is enabled. When using the "Manage Wireless Radio" app, I can power the bluetooth on and off but clicking the button next to 802.11 Wireless Radio does nothing. Also, the "Key Settings" icon at bottom has a NW to SE slash through it. I have used Lenovo System Update to get all but the KB2459268 Win 7 update (hangs up at 91% install). I have checked other posts on the issue and some have broken links so I am not sure if I missed something or not. How was the backup made? Can you get a copy of something like Memtest86+ and Hitachi Drive Fitness Test? It is probably a bad drive, but memory errors can cause any sort of problem. To run Hitachi DFT you will need to temporarily change the SATA settings in the BIOS to "compatibility".

It is hard to be sure without seeing it, but it sounds like the contact strip on the back of the panel has loosened. You need a new panel

I've been trying to update the BIOS in my X220t using the CD image here with no success. When I mount the iso file in Windows and Linux, it appears to contain nothing. Am I missing something or did Lenovo mess up? N.B. Please don't tell me to run the utility in Windows. I've gone full Ubuntu on that laptop and don't have a Windows installation on it.

Hi all I purchased my Yoga 260 with Windows 7 and after a couple of months decided to do the upgrade to Windows 10. while I had WIn 7 I the laptop came with an application that did very good ink to text. Unfortunately, when I upgraded to Windows 10 and downloaded the software from Lenovo's site I didn't find the application. Can someone point out what the name of the application is? Is it available on Windows 10. As extra info, I can say that while loaded it remained docked on the left hand border of the screen, when using the stylus it could be clicked and a small bar with yellow background would pop up. I would write on that bar and recognition was great. Far better than on One note. Thanks, DC

Hi, on hindsight I should have asked this question at this forum first. But I was tired from doing all the researching and bit on an old x230 convertible laptop off ebay that supposedly has core i7 3520M, 4gb of ram, and 160gb ssd. It has been upgraded to windows 10. It has not arrived yet. At around $200, it seemed to me like a steal for the specs. I do think that these specs were user-upgraded and not factory-made so I cannot speak for the quality.I read rave reviews about this device, however, most were from several years ago. I never owed a device with this specs or a touchscreen laptop for that matter so I do not really know what to expect.I guess I will start out to see if anyone still second this as a solid convertible laptop in today's standard. Does windows 10 run well on it? Seem like a lot of people run into problems when upgrading to windows 10? Is there anything special about the touchscreen or is it just obsolete technology nowadays? I mean the most resource intensive thing I will do on this laptop is just playing some online flash games so I think it is way less than what it is capable of. I was just looking for a laptop that is upgradable and can stay relevant for a long time so did I make the right call? Any feedbacks are appreciated!

I have a X220T with an I7 2620M 2.7 ghz processor. It is plugged in and the minimum and maximum processor states are set to 100%. Task Manager shows that it only has .78 ghz available. Why would it not be registering the full 2.7 ghz as being available? Thanks.
