Tried to convert music files from wave files to mp3 files and no NO SOUND WHATSOEVER

Q: Tried to convert music files from wave files to mp3 files and no NO SOUND WHATSOEVER

My husband and i are in a band and are trying to upload our music to a local site. It said we needed mp3 files so we tried coverting our wave file to an mp3 file ( my husband downloaded something that said it could do this) and now we have no sound. The speakers still make little crackling noises like they are still live but we get no sound.

Preferred Solution: Tried to convert music files from wave files to mp3 files and no NO SOUND WHATSOEVER

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Okay, I am a real newbie at this itunes/ipod music stuff. My daughters have over 1,200 songs in my computer, so a friend transferred them to an external hard drive but for some reason they were copied in the vlc media player. Now they [my daughters] cannot access them to put them on their new ipods. Now I know that media player songs can be converted to itunes...but can vlc? I figure if I can get vlc to go back into media player then I can convert it to itunes.... (I hope!) Of course, the more direct route would be to convert it to itunes and skip the middle man (media player). I would hate to think that I would have to recopy each of these songs. BTW: I did click on the "play in itunes" but it wouldn't play there or in media player. In itunes I got nothing...in media player, I got an error message about not locating the file. This is so very confusing to me so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've had my pc for four years and the problem occured several months ago. When I play music or video files the files stutter. This occurs on every software such as Media Player, Itunes, Real Player. It even occurs when I play youtube videos. It is very annoying and the stuttering happens approximately 10 to 15 seconds apart. I tried the following with no success: reloaded Windows XP, defrag hard drive, ran CCleaner, ran SpyNoMore, ran RegCure. I've notice that the stutter occurs when my CPU spikes above 25%.

Hi all

I have a really strange problem that no one seems to be able to help with.

I had a lot of music on my previous PC, so when had new one built I got them transferred over.

Now none of them will play in anything other than VLC or Media player ie no software like virtual Dj etc. Tried VDJ site and no one could help.

Also, although they play in VLC they wont play in Itunes or burn to disc, sound is just gibberish if I do.

Hear it may be a permissions issue, is this possible or anyone know how I remedy it?

A:Sound/Music files issues

Try k-lite codec pack, or coles codecs. I thought wmp played mpeg's
but I could be wrong, either way having the extra codecs gives you
a wider variety of listening and viewing options. Go into wmp tools
options, then click the file type tab, look to see if mpeg is in the list.
If not there or greyed out then one of the mentioned packs will clear
that up. Once installed you may or may not have to uncheck the greyed
out box, and then recheck it...

Here is a tough one for the audio gurus out there.

I have been recording lectures on my phone for years using a program called Easy Voice Recorder. It records in wav format. I transfer the files to my PC and convert them to smaller mp3's, which I typically play with winamp. I could of course also play the original wav files with my default player for those, windows media player (WMP).

This worked fine under winXP. A few months ago I converted to win 7. Now, when I play the wav files in WMP, the progress indicator moves along, but there is no sound. When I play the converted mp3's in winamp, the graphical level indicators bounce up and down, and progress indicator moves along, but there is no sound.

Before you tell me to turn up the volume, or turn on the speakers, or to select the right output device, note that when I play wav files from another source in WMP, there is sound. And when I play other mp3's in winamp, there is sound as well on win 7.

Furthermore, when I play the recorded wav files or mp3's with VLC, they do play and produce sound under Win 7. When I play the mp3's with another editing program called mp3 direct cut, they also play fine and produce sound under win 7.

Furthermore, when I play the same wav and mp3 files on another older machine still running XP, they still play and produce sound there as well.

So the problem is very specific - that recordings made with this software (Easy Voice Recorder), played with these players (WMP, wina... Read more

I have been told that CD-R(mp3 files) will play on the most in-expensive CD players and that CD-R(wave files)are skip prone(play fine one time and skip the next time on the same CD player). I have Nero and was told that Nero automatically changes the mp3 files that I am downloading to wave. The guy saying mp3 is "best" says to manually set Nero to burn the files as Mp3 for best results on ANY CD player. I want CD's that will play on in-expensive CD players(several planned as gifts) as well as my computer cd player, stereo CD player, car CD player and DVD/CD player(table top), so the debate is wave vs. mp3

Good morning Bleeping Computer community,
I have the strangest thing happening in my Recent Files list on my Windows 10 computer.  Files with a ZERO byte size, NO create date, NO modify date and with name in Chinese characters appear in the Recent Files list.  This is the third time in 2 weeks I have noticed a batch of such files.  Below, I will paste in the file names that appear.  I tried copying the names into Google Translate, but that did not provide anything I understood.
These files do NOT exist if I browse to my desktop.  They are not it the Recycle Bin either.  I have unchecked all the HIDE options for File Explorer.
OS: Windows 10 Home
AV: Avast (purchased)
Make: Lenovo
What I have done so far:
1) Scan with Avast.  Nothing
2) Scan with Malware Bytes:  A few PUP that I removed.
Since those actions, the most recent batch of them appeared.  It seems a few repeat and here are the file names...

A:Convert long files names into short files names

It is generally not a good idea to truncate long filenames to 8x3 unless you have no other alternative. Perhaps you know that already, I apologize if I assume too much.

If you are certain that it is required to be in 8.3 format by the server, you can use a 16 bit copying program rather than the default Windows copy command. The Windows command detects the 32 bit environment and automatically uses a 32 bit copy procedure that preserves long filenames.

I would recommend using xxcopy16, which is a free utility. It comes as a component of a two part package, the other component being xxcopy. xxcopy is 32 bit, xxcopy16 is 16 bit. You get what you ask for when running those commands and the windows environment will not dictate selection.

The command line with xxcopy16 would be:

xxcopy16 <source> <destination> /yy /WV0

(That's a zero at the end and the command is case sensitive.)
