Need help with Itunes and Microsoft Media player

Q: Need help with Itunes and Microsoft Media player

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a simple way to export my ITunes music library to my Microsoft Media Player. I want to put music on my Blackberry and the only way how that I know of is through Media Player. I dont want to burn many many disks just to rip them to Media Player so I can put it on my BlackBerry. Does anyone have any helpful hints. (I am NOT computer smart so I need laymans terms please!) Thanks for any help I can get.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello all,

I have been having a problem with my CoolerMaster Quickfire XT Stealth (Cherry Green Edition) Media Keys...

I have tried to reinstall the drivers, I have gone to services and set HID on and to automatic, I have connected via PS2 and USB. In all media players I attempt to push one of the buttons and i get the blue spinny loading wheel on my cursor. the media keys are actuated via a FN button which works for volume and Windows Key Lock. the media keys are located on F5-F8 via the FN Button as stated earlier. I am so lost now I will try anything to get this (2 Week old) Keyboard to work...

I am using Win XP.

Last year, I was running Windows Media Player and opened the Visualizations (I think that's what I did) and my screen went black, the computer freaked out, and from then on, I haven't been able to see the "open program". If I open Windows Media Player by double-clicking the icon, the tab at the bottom of the screen will appear, but the program will not open. I can even hear the mp3 or mpeg playing but can't see anything. I tried uninstalling it and re-installing WMP, but to no avail so I abandoned using it.

So I've been using iTunes for a month, and noticed there was a visualizations feature as well. I clicked on it this afternoon and the exact same thing happened as it did with WMP. The screen initially went blank, my computer freaked out flashing a few squarelike images, and then the desktop came up. (I guess I never learn.) The menu at the bottom shows iTunes tab, but the program is not "open". If I click on an mp3, it plays through iTunes, but that is it. Right clicking on the tab at the bottom gives me the options to Restore or to Maximize, but nothing happens.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance...

Can anyone help??

Also I don't know if it is at all related but it takes my laptop ages to shutdown. Also if any add or delete anything in a folder it doesn't happen straight away, I have to refresh it first. I have done a system run and run my virus scanner.

Since getting the last update for Win Media Plyer 11 I've lost the ability to burn anything with either WMP or iTunes - both say they cannot find a drive to use. I've tried all the usual:-
(1) Roll back of drivers for both
(2) reinstalled both WMP an iTunes
(3) deleted WMP 11 and reinstalled WMP10
They will both play from the either of the two CD drives just won't burn anything. Operating system is XP Pro with all relevant updates.

Hello everyone,

I have been using itunes for so long now and have a very organised music library, however after getting Vista I have started to use the new WMP11.

Here is the problem: When I use the advanced tag editor in WMP and change the tag info of any album, the artwork will vanish from that album/song when I try to view that same album in itunes. The artwork will be there in WMP but for some reason it has gone from my itunes library. I am thinking of going back to itunes but I have to manually add artwork to all the damd albums which I have edited in WMP.

Any one had this problem before, know how to fix it or wht is causing it?

Have you tried the long version, as in locating each seperate mp3, or using the Default folder:

Are you saying that all mp3's now only play in iTunes, and not thru WMP? If so, try this:

Click to highlight one of your mp3's. Then, whilst holding down the Shift key, rightclick and choose Open With... and select WMP from the list. Make sure Always Open These... is ticked.

hey team,
ive been using iRiver Plus to manage my mp3s on my computer and to connect to my iRiver. Before that i had an iPod and was using iTunes.

what ive been wondering is...what is the best software for this type of thing? so far i would say iTunes is the best, windows media player is good, but not exactly stable, iRiver Plus is ok..easy but very limited features.

im looking for something new that will manage my mp3s, rip and burn cds, and that i can connect to my mp3 player(hopefully usable with most brand mp3 players).

also...what category do these programs fall into? what are they called? just so i can research them some more.

look forward to getting some opinions.

When do you get this error? Is it a windows error or winamp erorr or I tunes error...? A screenshot would be perfect.

When I insert an audio CD Rom to import it into iTunes, Windows Media Player launches and locks both programmes up. I have tried turning off and uninstalling Media Player but it still does it in the background.

A:CD Import to iTunes Launches Windows Media Player

For Windows XP, you should be able to set auto-play to launch iTunes or to prompt you what to do when you insert an audio CD.

With no CD in the drive, double click on "My Computer" and right click on the CD drive.

Select "Properties" from the pop-up menu.

Select the "AutoPlay" tab and select "Music CD" from the list for content type.

iTunes should be one of the action items choices. You can also chose to take no action or be prompted for what action is to be done each time a music CD is inserted.

Click the "Apply Button"

You other choice could be to simply hold down the shift key while inserting a CD. Hold the key down until any CD access lights goes out. You should then be able to use iTunes to import from the CD.

While trying to rip audio cds into iTunes I have found that my computer no longer recognizes how to open the .cda files in audio cds.

I have tried 3 seperate drives on my computer (2 installed, and one USB plug in drive) and they all return the same issue.

In iTunes the CD diagnostic just says "No audio CD found." and in Windows Media Player 11 the error message returned is "Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted." It leads to a web page for more help that says "You've encountered error message C00D1197 while using Windows Media Player", I went thru the troubleshooting suggestions on the webpage but nothing seemed to work.

The only weird thing is I can play the files using a freeware program called Media Player Classic "http://www.free-codecs.com/Media_Player_Classic_download.htm".

All of my programs were still there but none of the media players like winamp, mediaplayer, or itunes will open. I get an error messsage
that itunes etc. encountered a problem and needs to close ...

I've uninstalled and reinstalled all programs no no avail.

Had a look for an answer for this one, but unfortunately can't find anyone with the same problem as me!

My computer's making a bit of a nuisance of itself- my speakers work fine when I'm running iTunes to listen to music, but when I try to run the VLC media player, or Windows Media Player, or even play videos on YouTube, there's no sound whatsoever. I've checked my sound levels, my drivers, codecs, everything, and can't find any reason why sound is working fine on one program but not on everything else.

The only thing that's changed recently that might have started this is that I've had a bit of trouble with a recurring virus recently that's involved a lot of registry editing to fix it. To try and get rid of it altogether, as part of a process described on another site I ran AML Registry Cleaner last night, and though haven't had a problem with the virus since, I did get a notice from my anti virus when I came home today that it had blocked two new threats, but I really can't work out what's up- any ideas whatsoever as to what might be causing it?

Alright, well- before I started typing this post iTunes was working fine! Closed it a few minutes back and just reopened it now, and it's popped up with this message:

'iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/video playback may not operate properly.'

and now it's not playing music at all. Had a nose at my au... Read more

A:moving music from itunes to windows media player

If the songs in the iTunes library are M4P files, like songs purchased from the iTunes store, they can not be moved or converted directly to any other software player. You can use iTunes to burn music CDs of the files and then RIP them back to your player of choice.

EDIT: I am forgetting my manners. Hi angelkat, and welcome to TSG.

Hi there,

I have recently installed the Windows 8 and been loving it until yesterday when I went to burn a music CD through ITunes and was told that "Disk Burner or Software was not found"

I then tried Windows media player as well and found the same problem. I have tried to search and follow what people are saying but I am not having much luck

When I have gone into the device manager the DVD/CD ROM is there and say that all drivers are up to date.....

Can you please shed some light on this problem for me and please remember in stupid people terms not a IT guru

A:Disk Burner or Software was not found in either Itunes or Media Player

Hey there.

It's probably happening because, as you've said - "DVD/CD ROM" - if that is exactly what is showing in the device manager for the drive itself, then the drive is not a burning type of drive.

Can you type out the exact name of the drive in full, or even make a screenshot of what it shows?

Okay, I am a real newbie at this itunes/ipod music stuff. My daughters have over 1,200 songs in my computer, so a friend transferred them to an external hard drive but for some reason they were copied in the vlc media player. Now they [my daughters] cannot access them to put them on their new ipods. Now I know that media player songs can be converted to itunes...but can vlc? I figure if I can get vlc to go back into media player then I can convert it to itunes.... (I hope!) Of course, the more direct route would be to convert it to itunes and skip the middle man (media player). I would hate to think that I would have to recopy each of these songs. BTW: I did click on the "play in itunes" but it wouldn't play there or in media player. In itunes I got nothing...in media player, I got an error message about not locating the file. This is so very confusing to me so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Today I ran into some trouble with my audio and I have absolutely no idea how this happened at all. I have been trying to fix it all day but nothing so far has worked.

So here's the problem, for some reason, Windows Media Player and iTunes are unable to play mp3 files. I can play mp4 movies in Windows Media Player but then I have no sound. Basically, iTunes and WMP gave me the same error when I tried to play any mp3 files.

WMP gives me a pop-up window that says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."

iTunes gives me a message on launch that says there's something wrong with my audio configuration. I tried to enable an audio device in WMP but the list is empty, it doesn't find any audio devices at all, here's what it looks like:

Here are the things I have tried so far but didn't work.
-Uninstall my audio drivers and reinstalled
-Install Dell's IDT Audio drivers
-Updated my audio drivers to the latest versions

I wanted to use System Recovery to set my laptop back to before it happened but I don't have any restore points unfortunately.

If anyone could help me with this that would be great.

Greeting Zephead, and Welcome to TSF.

Please try these steps in order....

Right click on the Volume Control in the System Tray [near the clock]..If you don't have the Volume Control icon in the taskbar, do this..
Go Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > tick the box 'Place Volume icon in the taskbar' > Apply > OK.
Now: Open Volume Control > Options > Properties > Playback > scroll down and make sure that all of the following are ticked: Volume Control; Wave; SW Synth; Front; CD Player; Line-In; and, 'microphone'. Now click Recording, and tick the following: Stereo Mix; CD Player; Line-In ; Microphone. Now click Playback again > OK.
Back to Options > Advanced > there should now be an 'Advanced button on the Microphone, click it > tick the box ' 1 Mic Boost' Close, and exit out of Volume Control.

Now right click on the System Tray Icon again > Adjust Audio Properties > at the bottom next to Speaker Volume, click Advanced and set the type of speakers you have from the drop down box > OK. Now click on Speaker Volume and make sure that the volume is not turned down >OK.

Now go Voice > Test Hardware, and the Test wizard will run you through a test to see that everything is [hopefully] working, and when your done > OK >OK.

As I said hopefully you should now have sound, but if not post back and we'll scratch our heads again.

We all know of it, we all hardly use it in deference to itunes, VLC, and the sorts. But should it remain with us?

I was thinking about this feature that is just sucky. I never use it other than to play media files, and I never use the navigation of it because it's just terrible. It also looks terrible.

Then I wondered about the future of Windows Media Center and the dying Zune Software. What about consolidating media players into a commanding, Windows Media CENTER, center as in, an actual CENTER of media playing and not just one of many media playing programs that is used.

Think of it, all the features of all players come together in one, awesome player. The modern, immersive, metro design of Zune and Zune Marketplace, the DVR feature of WMC and integration with Xbox, and the lightweightness of WMP together. That way, we don't need to have so many players in one OS. And of course, it could get the same codec treatment as VLC or a potential addon codec treatment if the user needs such. It could have better device media management as well.

Also, if Microsoft could without apple suing them, they could pull a middle finger on them and have ipods and iphones being able to sync up and be able to be managed without itunes. Windows Media Center could also have access to the current Zune Marketplace and have the same subscription service applied to iDevices and Windows Phones and other digital players. One awesome, media player.

What do you guys think?

A:Should Microsoft kill off Windows Media Player

I personally say yes as I almost never touch it. But as an adjunct to an OS, it should be there I think. I also see most friends use it widely..

While Windows Media Player always had its flaws, I simply can't understand why would Microsoft make it worse with each version. WMP10 was a very decent player, at least for music because WMP has never been good for video. Then version 11 changed some things in the GUI I didn't like too much, but it was still OK. But WMP12 is total garbage!! In previous version you had a "hue" slider that you could use to make the player any color you wanted. In WMP12 that slider doesn't exist, and even worse, when in library mode we are stuck with a horrendous baby blue color all over the interface, that to this day I don't know how to change even with a resource hack. I don't get how can this hideous thing come from the same company that creates such a beautiful visual interface in Windows Media Center. If anybody knows how to change the background in library mode I beg you, please post and let me know how. Other thing missing? The Advanced Tag Editor. A very useful feature that every single music player that dares call itself that must have. Who the ____ at Microsoft came up with the idea to remove the Advanced Tag Editor, and who the ____ approved that decision? They should be fired. I will stop using this player mainly because of this reason. I used WMP11 to transfer albums to my MP3 player because when I use Winamp it transfers the files in the wrong order. But in WMP11 I just had to right click on an album cover and selet "Add to sync list", or "Add to burn li... Read more

I Recently Had A New Ms Windows Xp Pro Installed. My "programs" Says I Have Windows Media Player But When I Click On It, A Window Tells Me That I Cannot Have Access Unless I "validate" My Copy Of Windows. I Did This Before (my Old Copy Of Windows) And All I Got Was Trouble When They Said My Copy Was Not Valid. I Thought They Could Not Make You Do This. Am I Wrong?

A:Unless I Validate, Microsoft Denying Windows Media Player

Sorry Joan, but I think that the limit on the number of times Microsoft can require you to revalidate is around 640k.

A:Microsoft Media Player won't Recognize my downloaded MP4 Video

For saving the videos on sites I would suggest Internet Download Manager. Directly type internetdownloadmanager.com in your browser or download from filehippo.
The initial days of usage will be difficult though as it tries to grab everything on the page for download.
Adding custom filters take time, of course.
But once you are set it will be very easy.
Also Update your codecs. I prefer and suggest K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.
Hope this should fix your problem.

Windows Vista
Gateway computer

I like to download videos/trailers on the internet.

My default player is Microsoft Windows Media Player.

I would go to websites to watch videos. When I would click a link for the video (usually a WMV file), my Microsoft Windows Media Player would open up, then a few seconds after buffering, the video would start to play. While the video was playing, I could click to go forward, the video would pause (buffering), then play again. Basically, the video was streaming off of the internet.

I found a AVI file, but when I would play it, there was audio, but no video. So I downloaded an AVI player (GOM Media Player, http://download.cnet.com/GOM-Media-P...html?tag=mncol). I installed this new player to watch AVI videos. After I intalled the program, all of my WMV videos on my computer were using the new player. I clicked on a WMV file (from my computer) and made my Microsoft Windows Media Player be the default video player for WMV files and the GOM Media Player for my AVI files.

Then the problem started........

Now when I go to websites with links for streaming WMV files, the entire file downloads, then the media player opens up to play the video. I can't stream videos anymore.

Here is the website that I would go to to play/stream wmv files....... http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/media_movies.htm

I tried the help that came with the Microsoft Windows Media Player, but I couldn't figure it out. I wanted to uninstall the player ... Read more

My laptop has suddenly decided that it doesn't want to open anything Microsoft related, so I cannot update Zune, Windows, Media Player etc. I also cannot view McAfee, Panda, AVG and most of the sites where I think I may have got help from.

I have attached a Hijack This report if it helps at all. I changed the MTU to 1492 which was apparently the right one to use, but it made no difference.

I have WinXP and currently have no additional security software (I unistalled McAfee as a first course of action).

I have a problem opening any media file in any of the Media Players viz., RealOne Player build or my Windows Media Player 10.
Whenever I open the above mentioned Media Players on my system, their interface opens up and after I open and select any media (usually audio) file, the player keeps on connecting to the file and takes more than 1 minute and above in opening and playing any valid and good media file, may it be a .wma or .mp3 audio file.
How to fasten the dead slow speed of the players?

A:Windows Media Player or RealOne Player taking hell lot of time in opening media!
