I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

The Pentium Dual Core T2310 is of a different socket than that of the Core Duo T2250. The T2250 is Socket M and the T2310 is Socket P. You can upgrade to Core 2 Duo T7100, T7300, T7500, T7700 as long as your chipset isn't the GL960. Only the GM965 and PM965 chipsets support 800MHz FSB.

Hi guys,

I have strange problems with my Lenovo 3000 N200 (0769) laptop.
I wasn't able to find similar problems on the net and I hoped that you could help me to diagnose them.

The problems are as follows:
1. When I turn on the laptop, nothing appears on the screen and there is no POST beep. After a few seconds the screen gets brighter (but still black).
2. If external monitor is attached, I'm able to use Fn+F7 to toggle the display. Then I get the menu where I can choose to boot in a safe mode or to start Windows (the operating system is Windows XP) normally, but the display is corrupted - there are strange vertical lines on the screen. Here is how it looks:
imageshack.us/photo/my-images/696/dsc00010gr.jpg/
I tried that on two different screens and the result was the same.
3. If I choose to start Windows normally, the Windows logo is displayed for a few seconds (also with vertical lines):
imageshack.us/photo/my-images/193/dsc00011io.jpg/
After that, I get this BSOD:
imageshack.us/photo/my-images/809/dsc00012lh.jpg/
And the computer reboots immediately.

All problems started at the same time.

I'm able to boot in a safe mode.
The minidumps are attached. I tried analyzing them using "PEBrowse Crash-Dump Analyzer", but it gives me the error message: "Incorrect crash-dump signature".

So far, I tried doing the following:
1. Reinstalling Windows.
2. Running RAM test using Memtest 86+ v4.0, no errors found (stopped after 3 passes).
3. Disconnect... Read more

For the past 3 days, once/day, my Lenovo 3000 N200 shuts off by itself in the middle of use. It gives no warning signs and simply shuts off. I have also noticed over the past several months that the computer will only last a few minutes without being plugged in despite a full battery charge. Am not sure if this is related or not but I have had the computer plugged in every time it has shut off inexplicably. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong and what I need to check into?

Thanks!

Some more details: I am usually multi-tasking when this happens and the fan seems very active at the time it shuts off. Could the computer think it is overheating for some reason and how can I check this? It does not feel particularly warm anywhere.

Thanks!

On the Battery - I've had good luck and bad luck on buying batteries on eBay. Would I do it again? Yes. Would I go through with returning the battery if it failed as opposed to just eating the cost if it happened again? Yes. haha. That one was my bad but the people I dealt with were very considerate.

The downfalls - I've had a 'non-factory' battery purchased off of ebay work wonders for my Dell Inspiron 6400 but I bought one for my wife's Compaq CQ-60 and the battery connectors did not make good enough contact within the laptop. I could have sent it back but didn't and just bought an aftermarket one from Batteries Plus.

For your battery just do a quick search on eBay for 'battery' and your particular laptop brand & model to get a pricing idea.

The hard drive shouldn't be difficult if you wanted to replace it yourself however it would also involve you installing the operating system, finding all of the drivers for your system to run, etc. If that is something you are willing to do or you feel confident in doing I suggest it. I would use a good computer of a friends or relative's to acquire all of the drivers prior to taking this on yourself though. If you find it difficult to find (at least the major drivers like NIC, VGA, Sound) then I would probably suggest having a tech do it. It is no good to you to waste your time trying to fix it yourself and then taking it too a tech firm afterwards and then they take your money t... Read more

I tried a reinstall but that only goes so far because i have to remove the Hard drive.

Check the cabling and jumpers to make sure the connection is good. Set it as single hard drive on cable, jumpered Master. See if it shows up in BIOS under HD's.

Download and burn to CD GWScan which is best version of WD Digital Lifeguard: GWSCAN 5.12 Unzips to C:Cabs where you can find ISO to burn.

Run the full HD CD scan, then boot into Win7 DVD or Repair CD, press Shift F10 to open a Command Line, type chkdsk /f then sfc /scannow. System Repair Disc - Create

If Win7 still won't start, boot into DVD Repair console or Repair CD, accept offered repair. If fails, boot back in click through to Startup Repair to run up to 3 separate times with reboots until Win7 starts. If not, report back with exact error messages.

Hi all,I am really annoyed at this laptop now. I have a Lenovo 3000 N200 0687-A11, and my right screen hinge has just snapped ($30 AU down the drain). Also, I have this other problem. When the laptop did not have a borken screen hinge, the display was often squablled and was flickering, This issue has happened twice, in which I brought the laptop back to Lenovo for them to fix it under warranty. Now, the laptop is no longer under warranty, so what part is needed to be replaced? Does the LCD screen need to be replaced, or is it the actual cable connecting the Motherboard to the screen? I have had a look at the cable connection to the motherboard and the cable looks like it is a bit wrecked.Which is it?Thanks,Dean.S

Hey guys.

A few weeks ago, I was watching a video on my Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop, and I was called away to do something. I had it running on the battery (as a power source). When I got back, I found that the laptop had shut itself off. I just assumed that the battery had run out and that the laptop had put itself into hibernation. However, now, the laptop only works if I have the AC power adaptor connected - just like a desktop computer, If I unplug the AC power, the laptop simply shuts off, which is obviously impractical and extremely annoying.

Funny thing, on my power options window, it informs me that a battery is connected, but the current power source is still the AC power. The battery does not charge at all, but if I bring up the little window giving me detailed information about my battery it tells me that the Power State is On Line.

Obviously there's a problem somewhere. Basically, I'd like to know if anyone has any idea whether this issue could be solved if I simply just buy a new/replacement battery, or whether there's something deeper that could be wrong.

I even bought a new laptop (with better specs), but I cannot get on with it (because of the limited screen resolution) and would love to be able to have my classic laptop back.

Any input is greatly welcome.

Thanks

I have a IBM Lenovo N100 3000 laptop that keeps shutting down at random, it doesnt matter what you do it shuts off when it feels like, what i notice is if it is off for a while it will stay on longer before the first shutdown but once the first shutdown occurs it just keep on doing so as soon as around 5 minutes after bootup.
I thought it was having a heat issue so I opened the section where the fan and processor heatsink is and cooled it manually with an external fan, i actually had my hand on the processor heatsink one of the time when it shut down and it was extremely cool.
I reformatted my hard drive and installed a fresh copy of windows...same problem
I went into BIOS and left it there to see what happen...it shut right off just the same!!!
(I also noticed in the BIOS there is no power management nor temperature readings even though I have ruled out overheating previously I would have loved to see these settings)
so now i'm down to definitely a hardware issue!!
I replaced my memory to see if that was the culprit.....it shuts down just the same!

oops my battery is no good so I wondered if that was the influence so I removed the battery completely and booted it on just AC power...it shuts down just the same!
Could you experts please kindly advice me of what other possible hardware could be causing this problem?
I have tried my best, I really dont know what else to do.

A:IBM Lenovo N100 3000 laptop that keeps shutting down

Sounds like overheating. If the thermal paste has worn and/or is not making proper contact with the CPU heat sink and fan, your computer will overheat and shut down quickly, to prevent damage.

Also, the heatsink WILL appear cold in that case, because proper heat transfer isn't taking place, so the heat doesn't really transfer to the heat sink accordingly thus seeming "cold." If you can, re-apply the thermal paste or have a technician do it for you.

Another thing to do is make sure the fan and heatsink aren't full of lint/dust, etc. That can prevent heat dissipation and cause overheating.

If none of those work, you are looking at a different type of hardware problem, such as a faulty motherboard or CPU.

Hi Code 10 errors are linked to a driver that needs updating. You say when you look at 'dxdiag' screen the display is twisted, but that could well be part of the same problem. If you can see what you are doing, go into device manager, look for the entries that have a yellow triangle next to them. Right-click on each one, and choose 'update driver'. As long as you are connected to the net, you should get the driver updated. You probably will need to reboot your PC to have the new driver be effective. Hope that helps.

Recommend running diagnostics against the hard drive to make sure it's okay. To do this, download and burn the Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD) to CD. It has Hard Drive diagnostics (plus much more). Simply boot your computer from this CD and select the utility you want to run.

Note: Seagate's Seatools will work with most any make of hard drive.

You can run a virus scan, start in safe mode, but this sounds like a hardware problem with the screen.

Despite being plugged into AC power, my Lenovo 3000 N100 shuts down after about one minute. It boots properly but suddenly shuts down. Hi Charleydog and welcome to the community,

Take the battery out  and unplug the ac.  Hold the power button down for about 15 seconds.  Do it twice.  Then plug only the ac in and see if it fires up.

My laptop was working fine last summer until the Windows Genuine Advantage kept popping up telling me it wanted to verify if my OS was valid. I tried to shut it down or disable it and windows started to behave strangely to the point that it would not load at all. I purchased the laptop in December 2008 from Micro Center in Houston brand new. I have the sticker on the laptop that tells me the OS is valid.

Lenovo did not ship with the rescue and recovery disks, instead it has a rescue partition. The rescue partition would not restore the laptop. So I tried the rescue and recovery DVD I created. Somehow it did not create the product recovery CDs. When I called Lenovo about this problem, they belittled me and then charged me $50 for the set of Product CDs. I thought my troubles were over, wrong!

After installing the CDs windows almost loaded and then it went to the blue screen of death. This happened a few times. I tried reinstalling the disks and everytime I would receive a different error message, it is missing drivers, it can't locate a file, etc.

Today it returned:
The application or DLL X:minint\system32\umpnpmgr.dll is not a valid Windows image, Please check this against your installation diskette.

Product Recovery could not find file Z:\UBREC.CMD

I called Lenovo and again, no help. I am at a loss. My laptop was fine until the Microsoft Genuine Advantage pop-up kept showing up. And Lenovo is not providing any support for the faulty CDs they sold me.

I don't think XP is sold any longer, but if you can find an XP install disc, you can use it to delete the old partition(s) and freshly format the hard drive and install XP correctly

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

I have some problems with the Lenovo software. Lenovo Account Portal does not launch Lenovo Companion and Lenovo Settings. Also, Lenovo Solution Center is missing from the Start Menu. The second problem is that some tiles are blank in Start Menu. Seemingly it's the apps that aren't Metro. I'm not sure when the problem started, but I think it was like that since I got the PC. If I right click the apps, the only option will be "Pin to Start", and with some apps: Share and Rate. Here's a picture of the problem:I did already try:Restarting the PC.Doing scannow, DISM, and scannow again.Fixing Registry errors with CCleaner.Updating BIOS and drivers. What can I do to fix the problem?

A:3000 n200 upgrade experience

Hello! I would like to share my upgrade experience of Lenovo 3000 n200 0769-B2G laptop. I bought it in 2008 with this specification (cpu-z helped me to find this out): - CPU: Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T7300, 2GHz, 4Mb L2 Cache- Memory: DDR-2 Samsung PC2-5300 1024 Mb, 333 MHz (M4 70T2953EZ3-CE6)- HDD: WD 120Gb (WD1200BEVS-08RS), SATA 1.5 Gb/s- OS: Windows Vista Home x32 I started with CPU upgrade. Main drawback of T7300 processor is heating. As I read its a drawback of all T7xxx processors. So I needed to replace this with new one with such spec: - PM 965 chipset- bus frequency 800 MHz- L2 cache more than 4Mb- CPU frequency more than 2Ghz- socket P- TDP not more than 35 W- low heating index There are two top processors with this parameters: T9300 and T9500. T9500 is very expensive and hard two find. After googling I found used T9300 processor for 40$. You can find cheaper one in ebay. Its spec Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T9300, 2.5GHz, 6Mb L2 Cache. There is a good hardware manual for laptop where I found how to install new processor. Installation is easy and takes about 10 minutes. You also need to buy a thermal paste (about 3$). The next one is RAM module. There is a limit of 4 Gb RAM with two slots available for 3000 n200 motherboard. A good tool to find compatible memory module is Crucial system scanner. It told me that I need two SODIMM DDR-2 2Gb PC6400 800MHz modules. Unfortunately old DDR2 memory is more expensi... Read more

Hi,I've just got my Lenovo V310-15 laptop and installed Windows 10 on it. From product support page I downloaded and installed Lenovo Utility, and there is nothing more. So, after installing it nothing happened. Only when i trigger CapsLk or Num Lock an information on screen appears. But, I want to have an ability to other options such as energy managment and allowing battery charging only to 80% for example.I know that this model is new and maybe not popular, but please add these programs and features like for other devices.Greetings

,Hello, I have a N200 3000 with a 143GB HDD.  i have windows vista SP2.For some time i'm having problem with low disk space, and can't figure out why.I ran TreeSize, and all the files and folders on C:\ take around 59GB, but i only have 6.7GB free space.Where is the rest of the disk space? I found some old posts saying that the Lenovo Rescue and Recovery program can use a lot ofspace if the backup option is on.I checked in the Rescue and Recovery, and there are no backups, and also the "RRbackups" folderis only around 1MB.So that's not the problem in my case. I turned off the windows system restore, and also ran disk cleanup, but still i'm missing a lot of spacethat i can't find what causing it. Thank you.

Hi gingelel ,

Greetings.

It would be better knowing a default value you should be getting on a normal system.
Here we are assuming that there are no multiple users or Windows.old that can occupy some space and that the computer has no security threat that duplicates data written silently on the background as hidden .

Disk Management is a Windows based feature that you can use to map the contents of your harddrive .
How To Open Disk Management in Windows

What is the normal space that a Lenovo harddrive should have .
Disk Partitioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

Take time to review highlighted links and compare it with your system to isolate what is taking up the remaining space.

Update us as it goes.

Hi,

From all the laptops I've used so far, I've seen a built-in camera software and not the Windows 8.1 camera software.
I'm talking about software that can run on the desktop and record and take snapshots. (not full screen like the Windows 8.1 software)

I've seen a software on an HP laptop with Windows 8.1 and on an Acer laptop (forgot the softwares names), just can't find it on my laptop!

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date.  I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

I just purchased the 3000 N200 0769-AUU today (Windows XP Pro).  The sound quality is not much to begin with, but playing a DVD?  Forget it.  With the volume on high you have to hover over the laptop to hear anything.  That is, if there is no other sound in the room.  I've never heard of the Lenovo brand until today and now I wish I hadn't.  Is this the their normal quality or did I get a bad machine? Is there any way to fix this?  Or do they just expect you to buy external speakers?  I really don't want to return it to the store and have to pay a 15% restocking fee.

Hi arbabnazar,

Does this happen every time you try to make a call, or just every time you start the program? Are you running the most up-to-date sound card drivers? Try this one: Lenovo Support & downloads - RealTek high definition audio driver for Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit - 3000 N200 (type 0769)

Cheers,

Hi Community/Lenovo I'm working with software development for training and need a laptop for this use, one of the requirement should be a numpad in the right side of the keyboard. I have search for reviews on the internet and in somemodels I can read that some models is getting very hot on the keyboard and the fan noise should be very innoying. When using Editors/IDE for software development I may guess that the CPU will increase it's capacity and will be in full use the most of the time. Which model can you suggest me to buy? I have looked at a T570, could this be the right one or some model else? When we found the right model, then I need to know about which CPU or other specs I should check for to not getting this heat isssue on the keyboard? Hope someone out there can help me, so I choosing the right model for my purpose.  Best regards Morten
