I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I've just installed the update to Windows 10 and suddenly the Thinkpad started to act in a totally unusual way, every hour or sometimes half an hour a BSOD appears and suddenly the Thinkpad reboots. I installed an original update but also a lot of features in Thinkpad don't work, like hotkeys and access connections... and reading about the support on the site  http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t51... there's no option for T510 and Windows 10, so what's up? I know that the issue is related to drivers and support, but there are "lower" versions of Thinkpad supported, so I don't understand. What should I do? Is there any pack with all the right drivers for Windows 10 and T510 or should I throw it away? I've never had any problem with my Thinkpad (I'm a big fan) but now I'm kind of dissapointed. If anyone have any clue on how to come back to life (as it was) my Thinkpad I will appreciate it. Thinkpad T510 Model 4313-CTO - Intel Core i7 M620 2.67 GHz - 6 GB RAM - 15.6" - 2 TB HD - Windows 10 Pro

Hello. I would like to know if the newer models of Thinkpad T500 series can accept the keyboard from a Thinkpad T510? I currently own a T510, and if I were to buy a new Thinkpad, I would want to know that I could swap their keyboards and continue using my current one in the new laptop. I'm not interested in hearing defenses of the new keyboard or how good it is. I do not want to be told how wrong I am for preferring the old layout and key shape. If I buy a new Thinkpad I will give the new keyboard a fair shot for a couple of days, but I will not buy another Thinkpad unless I know for sure that I will not be required to use the chiclet keys if I don't want to. Priority one is for the browser back and forward keys to continue working as normal. If they become magically transformed into page up/page down keys it's no good. Has anyone ever attempted the transplant? Is it possible?

A:Can I install a T510 keyboard in a new Thinkpad T5xx?

The T500 cannot use a newer generation keyboard. You can use older T60,T61,W500,etc. keyboards, though.

The T510 can currently only use a T510 or T520 keyboard.

Hello All, This is my first post on this forum so bare with me please. Also English is my second language so i appologize in advance for all my errors in that matter as well. I Have a ThinkPad T510, and im having an incredibly hard time installing Windows 10 on it.I've bought the laptop from a friend of mine that had windows 10 on it and it got locked up and he didnt know the password plus it was time for him to get a new laptop and so he did. Here are where my probems began. I Took the Hard drive out and formatted it on my other laptop, so that i could do a clean windows 10 install. When in inserted the hard drive back into the laptop and plugged in my Windows 10 USB i found that the Windows 10 logo pops out and then the whole computer just shuts down and restarts. two times very briefly i saw a blue error message screen i happen to be recording the second time. I, again, apologize for double posting. I figure I should include the host of other issues I'm having. Maybe they can all be inter related.

-my DVD/RW drive, when connected to mother board in ANY SATA slot, causes the BIOS screen to freeze forever. I have disconnected the drive at this time while trouble shooting. I have tried known-good SATA cables so I know it's either the DVD/RW drive or perhaps a driver or mobo failure.

-I have run the memory diagnostic tool in windows. No issues were reported.

-I have NOT run memtest86 because I do not have a disk drive connected.

-I have had stop-errors (BSODS) such as PFN_list_corrupt, System_service_Exception, Memory_management, IRQ_not_less_or_Equal
All of these could be a result of bad RAM.

I have purchased new RAM as a means to fix my problems. It seemed to work for 2 weeks, then the stop errors returned.

Hi

I have just built a Windows 7 machine and am having lots of problems

I can't run windows update which outputs error messages - have followed all the fixes for this to no success

I get BSOD constantly whenever I try to do anything

The system is all new apart from the GPX card (full spec below)

Sapphire Radeon HD4870 1GB PCIe (moved over from old PC)

The system is a fresh build yesterday with NOTHING installed on any of the drives apart from:

Motherboard drivers
Windows OS - 7 x64 Ultimate SP1
Windows updates (up to a point - 8 of them can't install)
Serato Scratch Live software and drivers for the TTM57SL
AVG Antivirus Free

I have attached a zip of dump file and report

Any help would be massively appreciated

Dear forum,

I recently updated my Lenovo E320 Keyboard- and Mousedriver. Something went wrong during the update. After the reboot I could not login to my Windows Account because the keyboard and the mouse stopped working. Keyboard works fine when entering/changing settings in bios.

So far I have installed a second Windows 7 on my second partition because I though I would be to somehow install the drivers from there. But I have not succeeded doing that.

Plese let me know if you have any useful hints.

Thank you very much in advance.

A:Keyboard stopped working after driver update - Windows login not possi

If you have an old PS2 keyboard laying around, plug it in and boot up. It should work. That will let you get to system restore using keyboard shortcuts, and you can use a restore point before the driver update was installed. Hopefully, that will bring back your USB keyboard and mouse. If the update caused the problem, I wouldn't suggest applying it again.

Hello guys,

I'm looking to pick up a Surface Pro 4 over the holidays and I need control over whether my machine gets updates or not and when as well. I just updated my Desktop PC to the Anniversary update and it looks like the deferred upgrades option is no longer present and from some research looks like this setting is only being respected on the enterprise edition even when using the Local Group policy Editor. My Question is if i spend extra to get the enterprise edition will it work on the Surface Pro 4. I know the surface Pro 4 comes with the Windows 10 Pro edition. Is it simple to just clean wipe the device and install windows through the UEFI and using a USB. Also could I just simply install all the drivers again or would that come down automatically on the device. If anyone has any links to a good thread on the surface pro 4 and installing new windows versions i would appreciate it. Thanks

Just got a refurbished Surface Pro 2 and I feel like the Windows installation might be a bit broken. Done all the usual googlings and every step I make takes me further down a feedback loop of 'computer says no'.

Firstly, if I try to check for updates (in control panel), it gets stuck in a 'checking for updates' loop. I saw one fix was to make sure the date was correct, mine was WAY off, oh how I delighted in the promise of that being the obvious fault - it was not.

The other issue is that the app store thing has never worked. At first it was because the initial Windows set up messed up my attempt to log in using my Microsoft ID, then I rectified that and, like the update issue, it too hung upon trying to start it. I did the fix where you copy and paste this 'Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.XML' into Powershell, but all that did was delete the actual store app.

Store is ok now, no particular reason, just windows update that's broke.

Hi guys,
Recently I updated my surface pro 3 to windows 10 and I was installing the windows update and restarted my tablet when I saw this error code: 0xc0000225
A blue screen appeared and it says that: Your PC/device needs to be repaired.
The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors.
File: \WINDOWS\system32\winload.efi
Error code: 0xc0000225
Press the Windows key for recovery

I tried pressing the Windows key several times, or even holding down the windows button but nothing changed on the screen at all and it is getting frustrating.
Tried pressing Ctrl Alt Del but the tablet just restarted itself to the same blue screen again.
Tried pressing F8 button, the screen just refreshed itself to the same page. Same thing occurs when I pressed F10 as well.

Has anyone encountered this problem and resolved it successfully? PLEASE HELP, THANKS!

Good day all I have installed Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on an old Lenovo G550. It used to work well on Windows 7, but now I cannot install or update the display drivers in order to connect an external display (LG 49" TV) at 1920 x 1080. Windows installed its own useless drivers that obtains at least 1366 x 768 on both the laptop and the TV when displays are duplicated. Then the highest I can go is 1366 x 768. When I select "Show only on 2" (which is essentially what I want to do), it goes down to an even worse display resolution, but this also disables the Resolution drop-down.  I have downloaded every version of drivers know to God and man from Lenovo's and other sites, but all of them tells me: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirement for installing software." I have deleted the driver and reinstalled via "Scan for hardward changes" as well. I have done a Windows update as well. I have no idea what to do next. How do I fix this stupid problem? Hello Everyone,

I come with quite a strange problem with my Netbook (Advent 4213), I have it dual-booting Windows XP & Ubuntu Netbook Edition, however the mouse & keyboard have decided to cease up every time I use Windows XP, some times I get a couple of seconds use out of it before the log on screen, but after this they both stop working.

I have tried to re-install Windows, However the USB Install disk I have also denies the use of the Keyboard & Mouse during the installation. But this is not the most confusing part.

You would think that if it does not work on the Windows OS or the Windows Install that it would be a Hardware problem, however, It works perfectly fine in Ubuntu.

I have plugged in a USB keyboard & mouse and that seems to work in Windows XP, however I think you can all vouch for me when I say I do not want to be lugging a keyboard & mouse around with an ultra-portable Netbook.

There is software related to my phone of which I would like to use but can only use on XP, it would be good to be able to use this without an external KB & Mouse.

Any help would be fantastic, thanks in advance,
Rik.

Your best option may be to open device manager (with device connected) and uninstall any related device, making sure the 'Delete driver software for this device' is checked.Once you have done this, unplug your device, uninstall WMDC 6.1 and reboot your machine. Then follow the instruction on my first reply, this should sort it for you.If anyone is helpfull, please click the 'Vote as helpfull' icon.

I bought this T510 some years ago (Windows 7 Professional 64-bit) and it worked perfectly satisfactorily, until I made what appears to have been a fundamental error - I "upgraded" to Windows 10. "Degraded" would be a better word. The thing now takes ages to react to anything. It is just soooo slow that it has acquired the usefulness of a chocolate teapot. I can't see any posts relating to this particular subject on the forum, although I see members saying that 10 works fine on their T510s. What am I doing wrong? Or is it just my incompetence that's letting down the side?

After having so much trouble trying to get past update 1703, I was surprised to find my T510 accepted update 1803, apparently jumping over 1709, which it stubbornly refused to install.  Once it took 1803, another surprise:  it installed 1903 without a hitch.  It took 2 hours to install, but runs great.  It would do well for Lenovo to place the T510 Thinkpad in the Windows 10 compatibility table at this time.  I have no idea what the issue was with 1709, but suffice it to say, no other compatibility issues at this point.  I feel that I now have my laptop back and no worries about 1803 support termination coming this November.

Lenovo says it doesn't support windows 10 on the T510.  Is there something I should know? e.g. no more BIOS updates?  I  need to know if I should revert to windows 7.

Hi, and thanks in advance...

Much of this is a repeat to other threads, until the graphic driver problem at the end...

(I also have an Ubuntu partition.)

I'd left my mp3 player plugged in overnight + an Asus Xonar DAC in a usb hub, when Windows wanted to do an update and conflict over drivers ensued. Strange, because I've selected for notification before updating. Also, have not been successful installing any new updates since the end of May. Was seemingly a common problem, I checked into it, too busy/lazy to pursue and succeed. This part is confusing...?

Woke up to blasting fans and unplugged everything peripheral. First, tried setting back to restore points prior to that night - twice. Could restart in Safe Mode and with networking. Then, could restart normally - but, shutdowns after 20 minutes or so.

Got crash logs, saw driver conflicts (not found) - saved.

Came here, read threads, did restart at Last Known Good Configuration. Restart - Nvidia Geforce driver not found. Went to Asus site, downloaded and installed driver (not lastest version, but last approved version and not much later than one that was installed).

It then went into a system cycled start/restart/etc. attempting to find driver, fix itself - forced to do shutdown to stop it.

Restarted this morning in Safe Mode, followed your instructions for posting. It's been running in safe mode for about 20 minutes now.

Hi, im new to the forum so i wasn't really sure where to make this thread.

I have a Toshiba Sattelite that came with a pre installed windows 8.1 and i cant stand windows 8.1 so i tried to install Windows 7, i disable secure boot and changed bios to CSM mode but when i was going to select the disk where to install windows 7 a GPT error appeared so i started to search how to convert a disk from GPT to MBR and here is where the problem begins, my laptop only has 1 disk, and it was divided in 5 partitions 2 of the OEM and one of them MSR, i was able to delete the OEM ones by using diskpart but now i have around 1 gb of unallocated space and the expand volume on the main partition is grayed out, i cant delete the MSR one because it has windows 8.1 files in it, but now i cant convert the disk to MBR because its divided in 4 different parts (but i was able to delete the 5th non OEM/MSR partition and expand the main partition afterwards, i just can expand using the OEM ones).

Oh yeah and i almost forgot my main partition is a dynamic partition...

Heres a screenshot showing my problem:

Windows language is in portuguese, sorry bout that i normally use english but this was pre installed so

A:Cant install Windows 7 on a Windows 8 laptop,GPT error and driver prob

You need to change that dynamic partition to basic.

I would get your data off that drive then delete it down to unallocated space, then install W7 to the entire drive, convert the drive to MBR before you start.

Do you have an activation key for 7 ?

After struggling with a Windows 10 upgrade to my T510 that came bundled with Windows 7, I finally got the Creators update (1703) to run.  Now comes along the FALL Creators Update (1709) which will NOT run.  I spoke to Microsoft about this difficulty (since Lenovo has no communication channel for their customers) and they told me that this was an issue for Lenovo to fix.  I have 3 different Lenovo PCs, 2 of which have upgraded successfully to 1709.  I paid over 3 times as much for my prized ThinkPad laptop than for my other 2 Lenovo desktops.. I may be a slow learner, but it appears to me that if Lenovo doesn't fix this current issue with 1709 on the T510, I will be left with a useless doorstop,  I have  paused updates for the time being, but Lenovo has got to get on the stick.  This does not impress me much.  Is there someone in this forum that can get Lenovo's attention and tell them how important it is to get this fixed?  Between Lenovo and Microsoft, I am about ready to go with a Chromebook or migrate to Linux.  I may well have purchased my last Lenovo product,

Hi all, The first one I wanted to discuss is one I replaced the motherboard. After replacing the motherboard everything went OK and was working. Later I decided to replace the cracked lower case. Reassembly went well and when I started the system back up I got the message "cannot boot from any device". I first changed the boot order to CD/DVD which did not fix the problem. I went to the default settings and changed the hard drive to "compatability" with no change. Next I low level formatted the hard drive to try and get a clean OS to installed. Still this compute will not recognize any of the drives.  This is where the second T510 gets involved. The next step was to take the hard drive out of another identical model T510 and install it into the problematic T510. The same thing happened with the message "cannot boot from any device".  Now getting to the second T510. After swapping drives unsuccessfully solving my problem I swapped back the hard drive into the second T510 and now it starts Windows 10 up to the Windows splash screen then freezes up for several minutes THEN the lapptop reboots to repeat this whole process.  I would think this would be solved with something in the bios setting but at this point I'm only guessing. Does anyone out there know of these kinds of problems and the solutions? This is a new one on me. Thank you ahead of time for your time and concerns. JMc

A:Two Troublesome T510 Thinkpads & Windows 10 Pro

I'll start with the second one first.  Run a memory test.  If memory is good,, look in the event log for the error at crash time.

On the first one, I would look for a problem with the assembly.  Make sure nothing is shorted.  Remove all unnecessary parts, like wireless and HDD.  See if it will boot from the DVD

Hi,
I'm a little confused by one of my update options. I was under the impression that windows 7 was using wddm 1.1, and that the wddm 1.0 drivers have been available for quite some time. I checked and the driver I have is wddm 1.0, released 10/28/2008, version number 8.15.10.1590. So why am I being given the option to update to 'pre-release wddm 1.0'? I tried to get more information to check the version number, but I am just redirected to Winqual Help , which doesn't help me any.

I'd like to test out the wddm 1.1 drivers, and I've read that they're available for 7, but I don't think that these are those drivers, unless there is a typo in the driver title.

yes thats right....

wddm is just a driver model...
its up to the manufacture (here intel) to release wddm 1.1 driver
so until then (most likely they wont) they have to release a wddm 1.1

Windows Display Driver Model - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
that should be a good read....

what they mean pre-release means that these drivers are beta drivers (there is a difference between pre-release drivers and pre-release wddm 1.1 drivers)

I am having an issue that it looks like many other have run into trying to upgrade from IE8/9 to 10 or 11. Other Windows Updates go through fine but anytime I try to install IE 10 or 11 via Windows Update or from the offline installer it fails with the error 9C59.

A little backstory on this in case it helps.... We have a VDI environment so this is on our gold image. Months back we updated IE8 to IE9 but found that we were having compatibility issues with an internal web app and had to downgrade back to IE8 (via uninstalling the IE9 installed update). It appears that I can still re-install IE9 but anything beyond that fails with the info above.

I've tried many of the suggestions out there such as reinstalling the readiness tool, resetting windows update agent, etc but no luck so far. The interesting thing that I found is if i start fresh with this update again (so i start with IE8) , the "turn windows features on / off" shows IE 8 as an option to toggle on/off. However after I try the IE11 install and it fails, i still have IE 8 installed but the "windows features on/ off" window shows IE11...so its almost like it ALMOST gets there and fails.

Either way, if theres any help someone could have for this I'd greatly appreciate it! i'm happy to try and scans / logs that might help

thank you

andrew

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

I have a P51 20HH and it refuses to update to Windows 10 1903 due to a complaint of an old version of the Intel RST driver.  I tried following all the instructions to update the driver at both the Intel site, and the official RST driver here on the Lenovo site for P51 downloads.  None actually did anything.  They appeared to work, but actually didn't do anything because the driver update software didn't see any hardware to update.  I turned on debug output on the driver update script and it basically said nothing was applied since there was nothing to do. In my case with the P51 20HH, the driver files are all there but there is zero evidence (Device Manger, etc) that any of them are in use.  I don't have Optane, RAID, etc.  Microsoft update sees the driver as an old version so it won't do the Windows update.  Meanwhile, the Intel driver install packages don't see the driver as usable, so it won't apply the update!  It is a lock out.  So, my solution for the P51 20HH was to rename C:\Windows\System32\drivers\iaStorA.sys to something else.   Proceed with caution with this solution, because if your machine is really using RST, this could cause your storage to become inaccessable, which might put you in a bad boot loop and require a BIOS boot to recovery media.  You should absolutely verify that Device Manager (Storage controllers) does not list anything Intel.  Renaming the driver requires admin priv... Hello and good day to everyone on the Forum,

I was hoping I could get some help, with regards to my HP Pavilion Media Center Desktop..I recently had to perform a clean/fresh install of Windows XP, using the system recovery disks that came with my computer..Once everything has been re-installed, my computer is equipped with Windows XP Media Center Edition and Internet Explorer 6 with Service Pack 2..The problem I'm having, is once I go into Windows Update to re-install all the necessary updates..I receive the message: The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view - Error Number: 0x8024400A ..No updates are shown or given to me..Also not sure if it helps, but my recovery disks come with Norton Internet Security 2006, which is outdated..So, I'm not sure if this is causing some kind of conflict..Or maybe I'm doing something wrong when I'm performing the clean/fresh install of Windows XP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated..Also, please keep in mind that my computer skills are average at best..Thanking everyone in advance for their time and patience.

Check to make sure the clock and date are set right first. Windows Update doesn't like messed up times.Otherwise use UVK and go to system repair, and repair windows update. Very useful tool I use all the time with the computers I see.
