Unable to connect to the Internet via wifi modem from Xfinity. Laptop shows full connection to wifi, but keep getting "This page can't be displayed ". Xfinity tech sent over 2 hours trying to fix. Did a ip reset 5 times, check all possible internal issues with laptop. Unable to fix. Why would it clearly show I have Internet access, but unable to get any web pages to load up?Worked great prior to issue showing up. A power loss of one second prior to this issue. Modem checks out perfectly. Smart phone can gain access to the Internet with no issues. Hope someone can help as this is a life line to wife on the Philippines at present fo sick family member.Read other answers
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I have been having issues recently in connecting my sleekbook to my wireless modem. After having the pc for 3 years, I recently changed to a new internet service provider. After utilising this new modem for roughly 2 months, I am now encountering a problem where the internet icon is telling me i have "no internet access" but when i select the icon (bottom right of the screen), under the wifi option, it states "limited". This problem seems to be a strange one as (1) i have taken all updates received from HP; (2) other devices are connected to the modem. i did attempt to address the issue through other suggestions within this blog but nothing seems to work. Please advise me how to pinpoint the problem and address; (3) the driver status for "Ralink RT 3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter" indicates the device is working properly, (4) I ran a full scan and no viruses were detected, (5) I reset both the TCP/IP settings and Winsock catalogue but nothing worked (6) I did try to use other drivers but they all failed. Hoping to get assistance.Read other answers
Just moved in and brought my ADSL wifi modem Belkin F1PI241EGau with me, but over here there is cable and the provider supplied me with their modem motorola Surfboard SB5101E. I would like to connect these two to use the wifi. Would that be possible?
Not really. The ADSL router doesn't have the correct WAN interface. You need a standard router with an Ethernet WAN connection.

OS-Window 7 (32bit)
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
The "nokia siemens SL2_141" is a modem/wireless router combo; I assume that "A Wireless Modem of MTS" is also a modem/wireless router combo.
If my assumption is correct you can use the Nokia as an ethernet switch and wireless access point ...
JohnWill's procedure (Aug. 30, 2008) for configuring a secondary router as a switch and, optionally, wireless access point follows.
Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together.
Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.
Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.
Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.
Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.
Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router, channels, encryption, etc.
Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If ther... Read more

I have a HP Notebook 15. I restarted my laptop this morning and when it came back on, all options for connecting to the internet via WiFi were gone. I am able to connect to the internet via ethernet cable, and everything works this way. There are no options whatsoever to connect to WiFi or reset the connection or anything, however the WiFi itself is working because other devices in the house are connected to it. I followed a HP technical support online page, which provided step-by-step instructions of various ways to reconnect to WiFi but nothing worked. I tried restarting the computer, updating the driver software, making sure it wasn't in airplane mode, and troubleshooting. Nothing worked. What should I try next?

I just recently got Fibre Internet (upgrade from Cable) and a new Wifi Modem (From ISP).
I am trying to access my Wifi modems settings /gateway page ie 192.168.0.1
I want to change my password etc from the stock one my ISP gave me.
When I type that into my search bar at the top of my search engine (Firefox) I get: The connection was reset?
My internet works perfectly...I can visit websites and download with no issues at a good speed.
I can access my wifi modems settings / gateway page on my tablet and my laptop...just not my main PC.
I have tried Firefox, Google and IE on my PC...none of them work.
The first day I got the Fiber Internet installed I was able to access the wifi modems settings / gateway page on my pc with no problems but no since then.
I am using Win 7

Welcome to Seven Forums,
If you wish to have the 2 computers communicate and do files/printer sharing and both computers have Windows 7 (I'm assuming), you may setup a Homegroup.
HomeGroup - Microsoft Windows
Please let us know if this is what you wish to accomplish or not.
Hello, my internet connection has recently stop working through my wifi router ( DLINK DIR 835). However when i connect my computer to the modem through an ethernet cable it works perfectly. I have already tried a full reset several times through the setup server provided by DLINK (192.168.0.1), still nothing works through the router i just get an orange light flashing. Please help, i have already contacted my ISP and they cant figure out whats the problem either.
Thanks for reading any advice would be appreciated!!
Did the research here and tried a lot of stuff but still no connections. IPconfig reset etc.
DSL provider supplied a new Netgear modem today.
SSID = HomeWiFi
Signal strength "Excellent"
I set up a wireless network with WPA2 Personal, AES etc and it connects fine.
"Netbook -- HomeWiFi -- Internet"
All good so far
Laptop Vista SP2 that was working on the old modem right before swapping in the Netgear
I duplicated the win7 wireless setup process.
"Laptop -- Unidentified network -- X -- Internet"
Download and install the latest wifi drivers for the laptop, same response.
It has a wifi LED that flashes like it is connecting, looks like it is negotiating.
I can connect using the 10/100 cable and get internet OK.
I removed security in the modem, removed and recreated the wireless network in Vista, same response.
Anyone care to wade in here and Please help me get this working?

I'm using ZTE MF62 HSPA+ 21Mbps MIFI Portable Broadband Wifi Router
I used to connect it directly to my pc, and provide wifi to my others device.
All the while are ok, but yesterday I just found out that all my laptop & phone also couldn't detect the wifi from the ZTE modem.
In device manager, the zte technologies msm driver was in yellow sign.
Under cmd - Ipconfig - media state it showed media disconnected.
I have tried to uninstalled the driver from device manager but failed to reinstall the driver. Error message from installing process "no driver found".
I brought it out from my house & tried to install it in others pc, however, the same error occurred.
May I know anybody can help me on this issue?
thank you very much!!!
I have an issue with my Windows 10 PC not connecting to my cable modem by ethernet cable. I connect the PC to the modem and all I get is "unidentified network - no internet", yet my laptop connects to the modem by ethernet (I'm using it now) just fine. I've tried everything I can think of to get my PC to connect to the modem, but nothing has fixed the problem so far. I can connect my phone to the modem fine by wifi as well, so the modem isn't the issue - or is it? Yesterday I had no issues with connecting to the modem and internet until I had a "blue screen event" and when the computer rebooted, I had the yellow triangle ! ever since.
We had to reinstall windows xp onto our desktop computer and once the instalation was complete we tried to access the internet, of course there was a problem, no matter what we have tried we are unable to get the computer to recognize anything, there is no internet connection and we are unable to find a way to make a connect. According to my husband the computer is not recognizing the DSL connection, i know our wireless is working because it is active on or borrowed laptop and on the WII.
Go Start > Control Panel > Network Connections and see what is listed there -
Or try in the same area Network Setup Wizard as you may need to create a new account -
Hook the computer up to the router ethernet cable and try it directly through there -
Right click on the connection in Network Connections and see if it is recognised there -
Thank You -
Since today I can't connect to the modem with my desktop pc(windows 7 x64). I get APIPA as IP adress(169.254.*.*).
this is how my connection looks like. I got only modem & switch between my connection to the internet. edit: without the fileserver
I've checked the following things with my other PC(=notebook windows 7 x86): modem, switch, cable and my network card and everything did work fine.
note: I did use the same cable as I was using for the desktop PC to be sure that the cableline was fine.
edit:I made the next tests with my desktop PC.
Then done the next ones without success:system restore(1 week)
reinstalling the networkcard

My network card settings are the same for the both PC, set to automatically obtain IP address and DNS server addresses

Your desktop IP configuration is
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway: none
Your notebook's IP configuration is
Subnet mask: 255.255.254.0
Default Gateway: 22.214.171.124
DHCP server: 126.96.36.199
You have not given the IPCONFIG/ALL of your file server which could be your Gateway, DHCP server and DNS server.
Your notebook is getting the IP configuration from the wireless Access Point which is fine. These values may not be applicable to your desktop as it is directly connected to the switch.
If your file server is configured as DHCP server, and your desktop's IP configuration is set to automatically obtain IP address and DNS server addresses, then your desktop will get these values from your server.
Otherwise you have to manually set the values for IP address, Default Gateway, DNS server to get internet on your desktop.
As I can see the default gateway entry for the desktop is empty.
So please open the network adapter's properties on your desktop and check the above values.
If they are set manually you have to obtain the default gateway IP and DNS server IP from your fileserver and enter in the network card IP configuration.
Or you can make the IP configuration to get these values automatically from DHCP server on your LAN.
If you have a system admin check these with him. He should be able to help you out.
Problem: inability to connect after clean install Windows XP done for computer freezes.
I have a WinMe Dell 400 desktop attached to a Motorola Surfboard 4100 external cable modem via an Asante PCI network card and a Dell 8100 laptop with Windows XP which is also attached to the same Surfboard cable modem by a USB connection. All worked normally together for the past 3 months.
Because of recurrent total laptop computer freezes, increasing over the past few days when downloading, using IE6, and requiring power off, I did a clean install of Windows XP this AM and also I followed explicitly the instructions of Motorola in installing the cable modem. The freeze occurred for example on trying to install ¡§My Yahoo¡¨ and perform Windows update with IE6. I then installed all other programs. The same freeze problem recurred when using a dialup landline modem as well as when using Netscape 6 and also IE6 when I tried to download. I.e. both browsers froze on both connections. I was however able to update Norton¡¦s Antivirus.
This PM I did a 2nd format and clean install on the laptop of WinXP, the Dell drivers (nothing else) and again followed the Motorola instructions to install the cable modem.
Now clicking IE6 > ¡§no connection to internet available¡¨ and ¡§the page cannot be displayed.¡¨ This is even a worse problem.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the cable modem as per Motorola multiple times.

I'm using Win XP and have discovered that you have to manually enter all the TCP/IP settings. The setup wizard will just screw it up. Once you have manually entered the host, DNS server and gateway address and rebooted, try using Ping with the DNS server. If the server replies, then you are ready for IE6. Good luck.

I've just signed up to a 12 month contract on a 3 ZTE Usb modem for my laptop, got it all set up ok and working .. well working in that it will establish an internet connection, but it just hangs when trying to connect to 'any' internet sites.
I've got a good GPRS connection of 4-5 bars all the times I've tried to connect (at home, at the beach, in a layby down the road from me) ... and it still hangs trying to load 'any' internet page.
But .... it works fine on 3G ... tried it in Tesco's carpark and PC world car park .. no problem at all ... it just seems to be in the GPRS area's ... which is why I got it as I am doing a bit of travelling around the UK from May onwards for about 6-9 months, and it I need to be able to access the internet from anywhere.
I've only got another 2 days left until I cannot cancel the contract ... so if anyone can help, I would VERY appreciative.
I've tried 3 themselves and they were no help ... I got put through twice to someone in India .. or twice to 2 different people with heavy Indian accents ... and I spent 15 minutes trying to get them to understand my problem without much success, and trying to understand what they were saying .... all they kept getting from them I think was they thought I had a poor signal, and to reinstall the software .... which I'd already done anyway several times, and I have 4-5 bar signal every time I conne... If they can't help, I'd suggest you cancel the contract. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work.
It could simply be a defective device since it connects to some signals. Or perhaps it doesn't have the sensitivity that the mobile has?

Ok so I am working at a friend's house and I have run into a debacle. He needs his wireless adapter to be in a new room with better reception for the house. There are two Wall ports let's say port A and port B. He used to be in port A but wants to move to Port B. When hard connected to either port the internet works fine as well as generates the same IP, DNS, and gateway settings. When I connect Wireless however only port A connects to the internet. Port B will not connect to the internet even though the IP, DNS, and gateway are still the same when I check the wireless ipconfig. Any ideas. I have tried renewing, refreshing, flushing dns cache, making sure his ipv4 is automatic.
Are these ports connected to a router - whats the make and model of the router
Does if have two fixed IP address OR perhaps the DNS is set to 2 only

Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

Hi: If your notebook is missing the wireless card driver, there should be a device listed in the device manager under an Other Devices category named Network Controller. Please post the hardware ID for the network controller device so I can figure out what driver it needs. To find the hardware ID, go to the device manager and click on the Network Controller device. Then click on the Details tab at the top of the Network Controller window. Now you will see a Property drop down list and it will be set to Device Description. Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.Read other 1 answers

My neighbour has a problem which I've tried to help with, but have to say am stumped....
He is running a cable modem into a wireless router (Belkin), but since changing ink cartridges on the printer (maybe a coincidence) has lost his internet connection.
The PC (desktop running Xp) connects to the network, but there is no internet connection. I've been there with my laptop and all is well.
It also seems that every time you try to do something with network connections etc, the PC freezes the window/app and you have to reboot/log off and on.
I've never seen this before, but am thiniking pehaps the network card is done for.
Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Can't think of any reason changing the ink cartridges should effect the internet connection.
If I understand the problem:
Cable Modem --------> Belkin Router ---------> Desktop
No internet connection for the desktop.
Are you sure the Desktop is connecting to the Belkin? Can he access the Belkin's user interface from the desktop? If he can acccess the Belkin, then the card and cable is probably OK.
Did he try connecting directly to the cable modem to see if that works?
If you connected wireless, try connecting your laptop by the same ethernet cable to see if that works?
Could you supply the followong information for the desktop?
Taken from a JohnWill post.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:
In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands, one at a time, followed by the Enter key:
Note that there is a space before the -n or the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the - or / in the following commands.
Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.

Which web browser are you using? If you are using internet explorer, do a reset by going to tools, internet options, advanced, reset, ok, then start browser again. Make sure there are no proxies set that would interfere.
Also check any security software or antivirus, they can cause this problem many times.

So here goes the problem - I connect normally to the router with my wifi stick - its around 50-60% signal. Im on internet - everything's fine. But suddenly it just: 1. Disconnects me. 2. Says - No Internet Access (I cant go to internet nor access the router configuration) - basically disconnected. I try to connect again and then it says "Unable to connect"
For absolutely no reason. It keeps saying unable to connect for 5 mins - 10 mins - 20 mins - 30minutes. Completely random! And then suddenly I can connect again.
What I noted is that - When I survey via Win7 default connection panel - after my problem occured - after it says unable to connect the router disappears for lets say 5-10 secs and then i can see it again but same problem - cant connect for random time.
What I tried so far is:
Updating my Windows
Tried it on XP via WiFi - same it wont connect (just on XP it says that connection is no longer in range)
Changed the channel on which router works
Tried connecting with my integrated wifi card in laptop - same thing.
Please guys its very important for me to fix this so if you could help me! Thanks

Hope you are all doing good. From past few days I am not able to connect to any wireless networks on my laptop which is running windows 7 64-bit. I didn't change/install anything, it stopped working suddenly. I was able to connect to LAN and it's working perfectly fine. All other devices (phones and others computers) are able to connect to my Wi-Fi networks. I tried many things like re-installing my Wi-Fi adapter drivers, reset my router, clearing the Wi-Fi networks and adding them, many reboots, and few steps like clearing DNS and other settings as per the instructions on the Microsoft website. Can you please review and advise a good solution. Please let me know if you need any further info.
Thank you in advance.
I have a laptop which connects to the internet using wifi, and i can talk using Windows Messenger yet when i try to open a website address, no matter what web address i enter, it comes up with the usual error message saying that it is unable to connect to the page requested. It suggests checking the various connections via internet options etc but on checking these, they appear fine. As i said, there is an internet connection made. Help
i recently upgraded to windows 2000 on my computer the silly thing connect but as soon as it starts to log me on it disconnects and starts to redial, ive already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the modem, and software and the tech wennies at aol have no flippin clue either can anybody please helpppppp!!!!!!??????????????
Why not give the following a try:
1) Download the newest and latest drivers from the modem manufacturer’s website. (I know, you have a disk, but download the newest and best anyhow.
2) Enter Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager and DELETE any references to any modem.
3) Shut down and physically remove the modem and then put the modem back in PCI slot #3 (Third slot down from the AGP slot)
4) Boot up and enter the BIOS setup menu.
5) In the BIOS setup menu find the PnP area. If you are running WinXP or win2k, then DISABLE Pnp….however, if you are using Win98, then make sure it is ENABLED.
6) Save and Exit
7) Boot back up and when the computer finds your modem, then load the drivers that have been downloaded from the manufacturer’s website. It may tell you that the latest and best are already installed, but install them anyway. (for example, WinXP and win2k only have v.90 drivers and not the most recent v.92 that are needed for best operation) If it says they are not digitally signed, then load them anyway. This is a long story, but I can assure you it is a money issue and a rip off from Microsoft in my opinion.
This should get you going!
I have a Toshiba Satellite L300D laptop, and have off/on problems with connecting to the internet and inhome network. It shows the wireless network card is Toshiba Realtek RTL8187B Wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter. I have updated drivers in the Device Manager. I have high speed internet with D-Link modem and router, and unless this laptop is right beside the modem I can not connect. I have a second Dell laptop, which can connect no matter where in the home I am - including outside! So it appears to be low signal strength or something, but even sometimes it just drops out and I'm unable to connect... Any ideas? I an not a techie...
