Solved: I would like remove Vista's Security feature

Q: Solved: I would like remove Vista's Security feature

Hello,

I probably could ask this question to the person that told me he could or had done it, but I would like your input as to how to disable Vist's Security Feature.

Can it be done and if so, how?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Note sure if you meant the UAC or Security Center, but here is how to disabled the UAC:

I had to reinstall windows Vista Business on 2 computers (different specs) this weekend, the install disk already contained SP2 and i just installed dotnet 4.5.1 after the clean install followed by all the patches from winupdate. Everything great, no error, no issues, no nada.

Problem is i cant run any .exe or merge any .reg files from external disks or usb jump drives, is it a security feature or a bug caused by windows updates, since I dont remember this happening when I used Vista like 6 years ago, and I really used Vista a lot.

Thanks a lot guys!

Do you have the same problem when you right click the .exe and select run as administrator?

I recently added the security feature on it, and am completely satisfied with it, however now this morning I burned it on a CD and tried to use it on the secretary's computer and it is looking for the exact file path it used on my computer to access its security file and related information. also, the secretary's computer is windows vista and mine is just good old XP.

What do I do? How would I disable the security feature in order to re set it up on the appropritate computer?

I just ran the Remove Vista Internet Security 2012 (Uninstall Guide) tutorial and it seems to taken car of the malware in safe-mode. But now an issue is happening when I get to the end of tutorial after rebooting from Malwarebytes and booting back to the normal boot mode. And the system seems to give give the following error then lock up not allowing other programs to run. A dialog box titled MalwareBytes, with the following message:"[Open Event] failed to perform desired action. Error Code : 2"A search on the error points to basically reinstalling Malwarebytes, but that does not solve it, even just removing malwarebytes all together doesn't solve it. After normal startup then the error the system gets lock up.Is there something else going on here that needs to be looked at, I was trying to find registry entries tied to malwarebytes or Run Once that might be causing it to run and error, but no luck yet? HiJackThis does not show any weird programs in the Run keys either?Any Further Ideas?

I have Vista security 2013 on my laptop and it won't allow me to download/install anything. Thus I can't comply with your "special instructions". Before anything will open, my email pops up, I believe that's because after this trojan invaded my pc, when I tried to open my Windows mail, I got "what do you want to open this with"? I chose IE. and since hen every thing is preceded by OUTLOOK EXPRESS that I have to minimize before the desired page can be seen and even then, sometimes ther's nothing to be seen. I think my .exe file is corrupted, and I can't download a fix for it.. In printing out instructions to maNUALLY REPAIR, WAS TOLD THE VIRUS MAY CHANGE ITS NAME WHEN LOOKING FOR to delete it in registry, and apparently it does for recommended entries were not found.

There should be an AMD Manager Console in Control Panel. If you open it, look for menu items 'View' or 'Help' and see if there is a 'Desktop right click context' entry you can uncheck.

I have arthritis and I had finally managed to get Windows 7 to quit autoclicking things. Now I am faced with a cursor that moves itself places I didn't intend and its presence is causing things to happen that I have never intended to have happen. I have
tried the adjustments that are in the settings area. The only thing that has changed is that I cannot get things to happen easily when I do click on them. If anything the "delay" feature for the autoclick actually happens faster.  I am using
the touchpad and not a mouse which has become too difficult for me. I really need this feature turned off!

I was wondering, can i use the Search feature to delete all the files associated with any given downloaded program? If i use Search for an example say QuickTime, it brings up all the files. QuickTime isn't in the add/remove programs. I know lots of times if you remove a program theirs lots of files that stays behind and just takes up room, also these files slows the time it takes for programs like Ewido or Adaware to run.

A:Using the Search feature to remove files?

I have a computer running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, which belongs to my pre-teen children.  I don't know what they may have done but the add/remove option is missing from my control panel and when I type in run, then type in appwiz.cpl nothing happens but I can find the file under my system32 folder and when I double click on nothing happens.  When I switch to classic view there is a blank icon with no words, at the beginning, I am assuming this used to be the icon for the add/remove option.  I have try to restore the computer to a previous time when I knew the program was there but I get a message saying that the restore program ran into an error and no changes were made.  I have RegSupreme Pro which I rarely use but I did use it to go back several months and restore the registry to a point when I remember using the add/remove feature and it has not fixed the problem.  Please help! Thanks!

I ran SFC and it did reach 100%, I got a message saying corrupt files were found but some were unable to be repaired.  I still do not see the add/remove option. The SFC log is very long, I didn't know if to post it here or not so I did a search for the words "cannot" and "corrupt" and these are the only entries that came up, unless I missed something.

As we known, MS Internet Explorer has a special feature called “AutoComplete”, it can remember certain details entered on web forms, such as username and password. Let’s talk about how to do this feature first.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Referring from: http://www.mediacollege.com
Title: How to Remember Names & Passwords in IE (AutoComplete)

Go to the Tools menu on IE and select Internet Options.

A window will open like the one below. Click the Content tab, then click the AutoComplete button.
In the AutoComplete Settings window, check (or uncheck) the options you would like to use.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Although this feature will help you saving a lot of time on surfing the Internet, here we talk about the security. Do you think it is security? At this time, I’ll say no, because some unauthorized users can also login any forms with these information you saved on your computer. So my opinion is that you should uncheck the AutoComplete feature or use some third-party tools, such as JJSoft IntelliLogin, IE Login, and Smart Login etc.

You can find these tools on:

IE Login -------- http://www.IELogin.com

Is there anyway to totally get rid of the trusted locations in Office 2007? I have a client that has both 2003 and 2007 and whenever you try and open a 2003 doc in 2007 it says it has to be saved to a trusted location. It is not feasible to setup a trusted location for each user for each Office program they use.

Is there anyway to bypass this "security feature"?

Thanks,

Nifty new feature that comes with Win 10 1903

How to Enable the Windows 10 Tamper Protection Security Feature

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tu...indows-10-tamper-protection-security-feature/

With the release of the Windows 10 May 2019 Update, Microsoft introduced a new security feature called Tamper Protection that protects security settings for Windows Defender antivirus from being disabled by malware or third-party programs.

When enabled, Tamper Protection will only allow Windows Defender related settings to be changed when done through the Windows Security settings screen. If a program, such as malware, or even PowerShell tries to change security settings or Microsoft Defender preferences, Tamper Protection will block the settings from being modified.

Due to this, Tamper Protection is an integral part of the Windows 10 security environment and should be enabled by all users for increased security and protection from malicious programs. Click to expand...

Directions follow in the article on how to enable.

edit: I just checked mine and found it was already enabled.

Executive Summary

Microsoft is aware of a security feature bypass vulnerability in Secure Channel (Schannel) that affects all supported releases of Microsoft Windows. Our investigation has verified that the vulnerability could allow an attacker to force the downgrading of the cipher suites used in an SSL/TLS connection on a Windows client system. The vulnerability facilitates exploitation of the publicly disclosed FREAK technique, which is an industry-wide issue that is not specific to Windows operating systems. When this security advisory was originally released, Microsoft had not received any information to indicate that this issue had been publicly used to attack customers.
We are actively working with partners in our Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP) to provide information that they can use to provide broader protections to customers.
Upon completion of this investigation, Microsoft will take the appropriate action to help protect customers. This may include providing a security update through our monthly release process or providing an out-of-cycle security update, depending on customer needs.

Mitigating Factors
A server needs to support RSA key exchange export ciphers for an attack to be successful.

Recommendation
Please see the Suggested Actions section of this advisory for workarounds to disable the RSA export ciphers. Microsoft recommends that customers use these workarounds to mitigate this vulnerability.

Hi, I use AOL software on my Windows 7 computer. Today, the warning message for "secure content" appeared on the AOL page I was working with. I clicked on "yes, just display the page with the secure content". Nothing happened, I am unable to close/delete the sign or do anything at all with the page. The tool bar is totally inoperable for as soon as I click on anything I just get a vocal error warning. I have tried using the task manager to end the task but it says it can't do this as I have not dealt with an outstanding request! This is obviously the warning message that I am unable to get rid of! Does this mean I will have to un-install AOL and re-install. I have now spent all afternoon on it. I cannot read my emails or anything although I have at last accessed them through Google Chrome. Any help would be appreciated, but I am a novice. Many thanks

Hi,

I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this but my boss has requested that I "remove Novell Security" from one of our user's workstations.

What he is referring to is when you use Novell Client for Windows (in this case, version 4.83) on a Windows XP machine, you get a window that pops up with the title "Novell Security" and below there is a graphic that states "Novell Client For Windows". The relevant information is that there are 6 buttons: Lock Workstation/computer, Logout, Shutdown, Change Password, Task List, and Cancel.

My boss does not want people to see this at all when they press control, alt delete, and he is under the impression that somehow this can be removed.

I have very little experience when it comes to Novell as my boss has said he does not want me messing with it except for a couple of tasks that I have been trained on. Thus I rarely use it.

So basically my question is: Is there a way to disable this screen all together on a particular user's PC? I'm guessing that it would be with a group policy or the equivalent in Novell but I'm positive my boss won't let me go to those extremes. Thus the reason for me asking on this forum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

JFresh

I never thought I would post a message like this to a technical forum!  I am slowly switching to Yogas and bought our second one. I like the product. However....there is a LARGE square sticker in the corner of the unit where you place your hands touting it's features. I am not talking about a little intel sticker which I know is meant to stay on. This is advertising INSIDE the unit so I am not sure of the purpose. However when I try to peel it off, after just taking a corner off I see sticky residue being left on the unit.  I know from past experience if you rub this off, it mars the plastic.  If you use goo-gone, it can eat into the plastic depending on the type. So I am asking Lenovo or any users, how to safely remove this sticker?  I can't believe this is meant to be like the Intel sticker which is semi-permanent.  Any thoughts appreciated. BJBBJB

Hello everyone. I just got a new laptop running Vista Home Premium x64, and it's my first experience with both Vista and an x64 OS.

I've changed the security settings in IE7 to a custom level, and now I get the notification bar saying "Your current security settings put your computer at risk. etc." I know this can be disabled via gpedit.mcs but of course Vista Home doesn't include that feature. So, a couple questions.

Nobody here seems to know much about getting GPedit to work in Vista Home, so I won't even touch that. However, I did see mention of the Microsoft speadsheet that lists all the various group policy settings and their corresponding registry entries. I found the "Disable Security Settings Check Feature" entry, but now I'm not sure what to do with it.

HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Security!DisableSecuritySettingsCheck
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Security!DisableSecuritySettingsCheck

I can navigate to the Microsoft folder in regedit, but that's where the trail ends. Do I need to create a key or something? I don't have much experience with the registry, and I really want this notification bar gone. Help please?

cheers everyone!

A:Disable Security Settings Check Feature && GPEdit

Hello mousetopher. You probably allowed something in the security settings that you should have just set to prompt. Scripts, Activex, something that will tolerate nothing beyond prompt. Allowing anything unsigned more permissions then prompt will set off that warning. Reset them to default and then your security warnings should disappear.

Hope it helped. If not I probably read it wrong.

Trying to install CA anti-virus, thus NAV had to be removed first. CA is telling me that there is still a conflict with NAV. NAV still shows in the add/remove program listing, but I tried deleting it agian to remove whatever vestige of NAV that remained and I get "module is missing" error message. On the add/remove program list where it would normally show how many MB the various apps are, it is blank for NAV. It looks as if the program was deleted but something is still there that is conflicting with the new installl of CA. I tired deleting the registry enties associated with Norton, tried re-installing the old Norton version and them re-deleting it, but no success. There is still some conflict lingering in the background.
Any suggestions? (Running Vista on the laptop)

Microsoft has suspended the "Attach-Photo" feature in Hotmail as a result of security concerns.
Webmail users can still add photos as attachments to Hotmail messages, just not in the same way as before. Microsoft expects to restore the suspended feature by the end of September.

Microsoft spoke about the recent suspension in postings to the Windows Live blog here and help pages here on Thursday.

Redmond explains the feature was suspended after testing unearthed a security glitch involving the interaction of its feature with IE.

What security feature disallows applications from loading DLLs from their own directory?

I have two DLLs named ws2_32.dll and wsock32.dll. I also have an application that i want to utilize these two dlls rather then the ones in system32 but it apears that it doesn't. I ran a dependency scanner and found that in fact the application does load these two DLLs rather then the ones in system32 folder.

How i know its not working: the dlls are suppose to make a log file. It succeeded in making the log file on winXP but not Win7.
I found some one else having same problem but with vista but that could be fixed by doing the following:

'set the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\DevOverrideEnable" to 1" '

However, i can't find the DevOverrideEnable field in my win7 registry. so upon the suggestions of some friends i added the field in manually and set the value that didnt work either.

What i have tried:
On Admin account
Run as Admin
Set compatibility to xp
take ownership
turn off all security features that i could get my hands on

all of that and no luck please advise.

Thank you,
