Yoga 13, keyboard not turning off until almost fully folded

Q: Yoga 13, keyboard not turning off until almost fully folded

Let me try to explain this; with the yoga screen rotated so the screen is 90 degrees to the body but the keyboard facing down (essentially the mirror to a normal laptop), the keyboard/touchpad are staying on. I have to rotate it so it is only about 45 degrees from being in full tablet mode before it shuts off. I've owned it for a week and it was at least shutting off in reverse laptop roatation until tonight. This sucks because I can't sit it on my lap without my leggs screwing with the mouse pad. Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Yoga 13, keyboard not turning off until almost fully folded

I'm having the exact same issue. I have the latest touchpad drivers released a few days ago, as well. Sometimes it seems the keyboard/touchpad disabler function does not work correctly. When it doesn't work correctly, like above, it will only disable the keyboard/touchpad once within 45 degrees of being in complete tablet mode.

Hi, Looks like you put your computer to sleep when the lid closed. I'm using on an external keyboard and mouse (wireless Logitech) with my loan HP x360 right now. The x360 is connected to a 23" monitor using HDMI cable and the lid closed. Hi! I got this laptop december 2014, it worked nice until one day it decided not to turn on, instead of this, the laptop shows sleep-mode behaviour (blinking keyboard, black screen) but without waking up. It initiates randomly, key-combination doesn't work, nor pushing windows key. Additionally, if I turn off by pressing the power button and try to turn on again, it keeps to be in sleeping mode. If is turned off again and the one key recovery is pushed, nothing happens, same sleep-mode reaction. I contacted technnical assistance in Spain, they were really kind and quick taking the call. As suggested I restored the system to fabric condicions (when I got my laptop turned on and through the windows 8.1 menu restoring to initial configuration option). It seemed to solve the problem but just for few re-starts. After using the computer about 10 times (I mean, turning off and turning on the laptop), the same problem appeared. I called again technnical assistance, today they are picking up my laptop at home because I'm still warranty covered, I hope to get my 1600? laptop working well again soon. Just wanted to share this situation with other lenovo users who can be in the same situation. In my case, I'm not using this laptop as a primary computer, that's maybe why it took so long to detect/appear this problem. I already tested updating bios, drivers, energy configuration... Nothing worked up to date. I found another person having the same issue (http://community.sp... Read more

My lenovo yoga 2 pro laptop used to work perfectly. I have installed an update from Norton anti virus and shut it down. After that it doesn't turn on but the keyboard lights are blinking. I have tried to reset it by press and holding the start button for 30 seconds and reset button for 30 seconds but none of them did work. If someone had a similar experience please let me know if there is any easy fix for this issue before I take it to the service center.

I have an Acer R3-131T 2 in 1 laptop.  The screen can be folded right back 360 degrees to enable it to be used as a windows tablet. Like this: https://content.hwigroup.net/images/products_xl/317576/12/acer-aspire-r3-131t-c56l.jpg However, I want to use it the other way up, with an external monitor connected and the screen folded completely underneath to use the laptop just as a keyboard. This would be a very handy way to use the laptop with an external monitor, but, unfortunately, once the screen is rotated back more than 180 degrees the keyboard gets disabled.  I?ve turned off automatic switching to tablet mode and it doesn?t switch to tablet mode, but the keyboard still gets disabled when I push the screen back far enough.  Any ideas as to how I can keep the keyboard active with the screen folded right back underneath?  Thanks for any help.

Hi all, just got my Yoga 920. Tablet mode is not being sensed anymore after the default install of Windows 10 gets updated (possibly the anniversary update).. I formatted to confirm it was the update and yes, it was. Tablet mode is sensed perfectly before updating and when windows 10 updates it doesn't sense it anymore. Instead all i get is a locked touchpad. keyboard until i restart or suspend/ wakeup.Anyone have any suggestions? I've reinstalled ymc.exe (Lenovo mode control) and that didn't do anything. I'm actually suprised that no one else has encoutered this issue  on the 920 yet, so i made this thread... Thanks in advance.

Is there any way to do this? its driving the insane...it gives me more mistakes because I just want to type--I don't want to have to jump up to the screen during a word to pick a number, and it also makes typing word/number combinations almost impossible. If I make a mistake and backspace to edit a word, it treats it as a new word. Simply put, I have a very high WPM and can correct myself and while this feature may help a lot of people it's just not for me. When I try to change it in settings though the settings only seem to be for the onscreen keyboard. I would probably like to then off auto-correct as well.

So three weeks ago, I was working on my Yoga 3 14" and popped to get a drink, I came back and the screen was blank, I assumed it had gone to sleep, so hit a key to wake it up. Nothing! The laptop was plugged in, so I know it hadn't run out of charge. After sheer panic, I contacted Lenovo, who told me that my warranty was out by a month, and that I could send it to them to diagnose, and they would tell me how much to fix, then it was up to me if they did or not.One I wouldn't be happy about not having my laptop for a couple of weeks minimum, but also it had all my private information on.I turned to good old google, and stumbled across this forum, and somebody with the same problem.Their solution was to unscrew the back case of the laptop (as mentioned above, my warranty was already out), remove the battery cable, hold down the power button for 30 seconds and reconnect the battery cable.I did this, and low and behold it worked. Fantastic!Only for it to happen twice more that week, and approx twice a week since. Then yesterday my brother contacts me saying his laptop has died, just won't turn on. His is the Yoga 2 Pro, I told him to bring it to mine, and I would try what I had to do to mine, to his, low and behold, the same solution worked. Seeing as I wasn't the first person to have this issue, and I'm guessing others have used the solution but not commented, this is obviously a fault with the Yoga range. I'm hoping that Lenovo can address this issue, as I fe... Hello, everyone; My Mini 110-1100 keyboard is acting strangely. Most of the time, certain keys will not register as being pressed. Space bar, the left shift key, t, y, [, ], z, x, c, v, and m all do not work when this happens. Sometimes (rarely) all keys will work from boot. In addition, when it's not working properly. after using it for a few hours or so, the keyboard will randomly work. I'm assuming it is a software problem as opposed to a hardware issue because of this. I am running XP Service Pack 3, with all available updates. I have also tried reinstalling both the keyboard and touchpad driver. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be appreciated. Thank you! -Don

Hi there,

I'm new to this forum, so good day to you all out there.

My son's laptop suddenly had all keyboard functions totally locked last night.

He was wondering whether he entered some sort of control sequence, accidentally, for this to happen.

He has managed to recover by going back to a restore checkpoint for earlier this week.

In case this happens again, is there any Windows control sequence he could have used to resolve this?

All replies are appreciated.

Start by connecting a USB keyboard to the laptop, see if it works at all, if it does, then it's possible the keyboard has gone bad on the laptop. Asus laptop? the Keyboards on those go bad occasionally, but replacements are cheap, staring around 8 bucks. If you don't have a USB keyboard, maybe you can borrow one from somewhere, another system or a neighbor?

Hello, I've had this laptop for a bit less than a year, so I believe the warranty is valid, but I'd like to know if there's anything I can do myself. I was using it plugged in although it had a full battery. I have an Anker power bank that was nearly out of battery, on which I was charging my phone. I thought it supported pass through charging but apparently it didn't, so my mistake. Upon connecting the bank (and the phone) to my laptop, the laptop immediately shut off and I could tell the lights in the room flashed very quickly. Since then (at writing this less than one day ago), the laptop will not power on. When connected to the wall the small charging light turns on and is white. The power button lights up for a couple of seconds before turning off again when pressed. Fans do not start, display does not turn on nor do the keyboard lights. I figured it may have overheated at first, but the bottom was not hot to the touch. There were no signs of smoke or smells indicating a bad electrical problem. I've tried pretty much just holding the power button for different amounts of time (10sec, 30sec, 1min) and nothing happens. I believe I've done something to the battery but I'd like to know what. Thank you.

Want to use computer in laptop mode (not tablet mode) with the screen rotated 360 degrees all the way open (to the tablet position, I guess) and with a monitor connected via HDMI.  With the computer/screen in that position, I want to use the regular on-board keyboard; sometimes it will work and sometimes it is disabled.  Some toggle I'm missing? I set the computer to ask before enabling tablet mode when I swing the screen around; I tell it no, but it still randomly disables my keyboard. Feels like there's a simple solution to the randomness somewhere, since I know it IS possible for the keyboard to work with the screen fully rotated. Doug D

Hello,I'm having trouble since I recieved my LENOVO ThinkPad Yoga 14 two months ago.It is on guarantee.I've noticed that the master fan keeps starting even if the computer is not working at full capacity. Sometimes, it starts right after windows as finished booting! And it's a brand new computer, Intel i7 CPU and 8GO of RAM!The fan keeps working then even if I'm only surfing on the internet or working on word. It's REALLY annoying. I feel like this is already an old computer by it's blowing. My old computer, a 5 years old Toshiba Satellite, doesn't blow so much.I've searched over the web and found that LENOVO had released a new UEFI Bios that was suposed to fix this problem. I've installed it and nothing changed! The fan kept on turning on for nothing else than a gmail home page.I've already asked about another problem on the ThinkPad Yoga 14. It's about a background noise on the built in speakers. Here's the link: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Background-noise-on-ThinkPad-Yoga-14-bu...I'm not having a good experience with this Yoga 14. A:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - The Fan keeps on turning on eve...

Hi ludovicfd Can you please post the full model number of you machine and which Windows version are you using?. For example my TP Yoga 14 is "20DM008UUS" and I didn't experienced those issues.  I'm guessing that your machine fan is blowing too much and making huge noise. In my case I can feel more the hard drive noise than the fan, it is not like the HDD is "that loud", but when you are on a quiet enviroment you can feel it "scrattching". Do you want to try first updating any firmware / BIOS on your machine at the latest level ? After that another alternative will be to try to update the driver for the chipset and power. The basic thing for me is to try to update the drivers and firmware this way:- Windows Update- Lenovo System Update- Lenovo Companionand after that search manually for updates on the Lenovo Support site with your specific model number. Sorry, it is trial and error to see if a driver can fix your issue. If after updating the drivers, you think it is hardware issue you should try to contact Lenovo's Customer Support site Regards
